Following on from LOSE IT! Awesome August

Drum roll please! Now it’s the time for an Autumn Re-set!

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am idling around 9st 4lbs after having been hovering around 8st 12lb for several months. TIME FOR ACTION and get back on it! 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Not sure if I’m on this or the old threads so I’ll add here. I’m on anti depressants which make me crave carbs and had a month in total in psychiatric hospitals and a crisis house plus 2 A&E depts. very carb heavy there.

But as I’m reducing my meds and coming off them hopefully by Xmas I’ll be slimmer. In one way I don’t give a shit as my mental health has been through the mangle wringer this summer but if I see myself in the mirror I realise I need to lose and not gain more. I did overeat more prior to being ill this summer think depression was kicking in then. Want to join Slimming World maybe I found Weightwatchers very cliquey and the SW clubs are nearer. But I did a good walk to the WW clubs. I’ll post my stats:-

SW: 13 stone 10lb 😱🫣 😢
GW: 11 stone

It’s actually really shaken me up as I’m feeling out of breath but I walked 8.1km today.

I’m noticing choices though today I had peanut butter and marmite on Vogel soya and linseed bread for breakfast.

some sort of vegan pastry thing for lunch

veggie fresh pizza and cucumber batons

snacks:- 3 x Lindt bars and a Lidl chocolate and biscuit bar. Some bbq pop chips. Pineapple chunks and orange low sugar jelly. 2 big water carriers of low sugar orange squash. One orange.

tea with skimmed milk. About 3-4 of those. Plus green tea and camomile tea.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 07/09/2024 21:09

Edited did 8.1km in walking today.

I think from my shopping baskets (I listed these on another thread) I just need to eat less.

ok I have a Nature Valley bar but I can cut that to not have both, every day. Cut or try to reduce snacks. More fruit and veg and less other snacks.

PatienceOfEngels · 08/09/2024 06:18

Welcome @Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain - sounds like you've really been through the wringer but you have awareness of what you want to change. Go go easy on yourself as in your circumstances with medication there are some things outside of your control. I try to focus on what makes me feel better about myself health wise, anxiety wise and relaxation rather than focus on weight (which is being very stubborn!) and the small changes (no caffeine after breakfast, no evening snacking, no booze) are making all the difference.

PatienceOfEngels · 08/09/2024 06:28

I cycled 12km yesterday in 28 degree humid heat but forgot to put my smartwatch on - it still counts!

Just done a 20minute yoga video on the deck - saw my friend the bat again.

Managed to keep it together yesterday food-wise (boiled egg and toast for breakfast, chicken salad sandwich for lunch, sausage, potatoes and beans for dinner) though still a snack or two too many
-banana and Greek yoghurt with honey in morning
-a few truffles strawberries with friends in the afternoon (too hot to drink anything but water)
-a small bowl of nuts/dried fruit/cheese chunks in the early evening
-a few glasses of squash with sparkling water in the evening (I don't usually drink squash).

Fingers crossed the heat goes away today...I'm so fed up of it!

Not sure what the plan is today food wise. Have green beans and carrots in the fridge. Maybe with fish and turmeric rice, or meatballs in red wine gravy and rice??? Still have leftovers salad bits in the fridge for lunch.

Still need to prioritise rest as coming to the end of my cycle and it's been a very busy week. Might do some light gardening or go for a walk to clear my head, do some reading, play some guitar. Really need to have some screen free time. Going to pick up my journal and set some goals and intentions for the week ahead.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Iamnotaloggrip · 08/09/2024 07:32

Well done @PatienceOfEngels, cycling in that heat must have been tough! I cycled as well, about 11 miles, but I don’t think it got over 19 here 😂. Where are you for it to do warm (you don’t have to say if you don’t want to).

I had avocado on sourdough with eggs for brunch yesterday, then a chicken casserole with veg last night.

Need to decide on today’s lunch but we’re out for dinner as it’s DS’s birthday today. Will try to make good choices! I also have to make his cake - but he says he wants to help me so he can lick the bowl…

Have a good Sunday everyone.

PatienceOfEngels · 08/09/2024 07:39

I'm in the Netherlands @Iamnotaloggrip . Our weather often mirrors SE England. It's been such annoying weather the last month. A few really hot humid days broken by rain and then early 20s. Keep thinking summer is over and then we get another few humid days of high 20s. Autumn and Spring are my favourite seasons - I'm definitely not a fan of summer!

Morning,
I would like to join everyone on this thread. After a rough couple of years I have piled weight on so I decided on 1st September I was going to make a real effort. I did weigh in today and lost 1.1kg so I am pleased with that. I am planning to get back to the gym next week now the kids are back at School.

TheRealHousewife · 08/09/2024 08:46

Good Morning All

Welcome to the thread @Skyglimmer 👍

I’m similar to you @PatienceOfEngels in that my favourite seasons are Spring & Autumn 🙂. I’m not a fan of excessive heat either. Fantastic cycling 28km 👍👏👏.

Menu
Meal 1 - Avocado on gf seed bread. Side salad. Pecans.
Meal 2 - Home made quiche, baked beans and home made skin on wedges.
Tea, black coffee and water.

I would like to join you. I have piled on weight and as I have arthritis and a sore hip it's not helping at all.

I'm plan to use Zoe to make sure I eat healthily. Now they have added the calories for foods it's much easier to keep track. I want to try and eat around 1200 calories per day which gives me a bit of flexibility for days I am eating out etc.

I also need to walk more which isn't easy with a sore hip. I've dug out my old Garmin watch and want to try and increase my steps. We lost our dog recently which means I really need to force myself out to walk. This will be a big challenge.

I also need to stop drinking wine. This will definitely be a challenge!

It will be good to have some accountability. I weighed myself today but happy to join in with weighing on a Wednesday.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 08/09/2024 12:18

Thanks to @TheRealHousewife and @PatienceOfEngels.

So today’s my birthday and I woke up at 6.30am (why?!) and had tea, 2 nature valley bars (the ones which have 2 in a pack), later breakfast of Vogel toast with peanut butter and marmite. Now pineapple chunks with Greek yogurt and honey and green tea.

Supposed to be off to a joint party today.

My Iphone tracks my steps using an app called Pedometer. It also gives kilo miles. I wish Apple kept their old health and fitness app included in iPhones but they haven’t.

My main issue is medication but also I want or need to have something to do this for, new man in my life?! When I have that I can be very focused on losing weight.

LegoTherapy · 08/09/2024 12:35

Happy birthday! @Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain

Welcome to the new posters. You'll be in good company here.

I'm currently on 50 miles of walking since ds went back to school on Tuesday. My stomach is much flatter since yesterday and I'm now consistently below 55kg. I'm hoping to keep it that way. Today is a cooking and baking day. I might try and make my own wraps.

LemonDrizzle23 · 08/09/2024 13:53

Happy birthday @Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain !

50 miles is very impressive @LegoTherapy

Had a couple of very food filled days at the end of a stressful work week! Friday was our wedding anniversary, so DH cooked a gigantic steak and we had Gu chocolate pots for dessert. Yesterday was just filled with chocolate and crisps because I could feel a cold coming on and felt sorry for myself. Bloody soft-play germs!

Back on it a bit more today. Weather has been mad. Thunderstorms this morning and now 20C and sunny!

Back to the gym tomorrow, assuming that I'm not too disgusting. Nothing worse than watching someone sneezing all over a machine you're about to use 😂

SkyeBlue28 · 08/09/2024 14:55

Happy Birthday @Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain

I had a really good week for food and exercise but the weekends are a lot more challenging. I have been tempted a lot and sometimes I gave in and sometimes not.

I was really in the mood for a nice cold glass of wine on Friday evening. It was a long week and I was tired and it felt like it would be the perfect treat while DC were in bed and I am so happy that I didn’t have any! Lucky for me I didn’t have any in the house and the closest shop is a 15 minute drive away.

On Saturday we went shopping in town and I had allowed for a caramel latte in my calorie allowance. We bought these cute little ice creams for our two girls. Soft serve ice cream with chocolate sauce and kinder bueno and they didn’t like them! So DH ate one and I ate 3/4 of the other. It seemed a shame to waste them as they weren’t cheap and it was hard not to taste when it was sitting in front of me. That left me fewer calories for meals and I was starving. I don’t mind going to bed a little bit hungry but I just couldn’t do it on Saturday so I had two slices of toast before bed. So I was about 250 calories over my allowance yesterday.

Today I am back on track and I’m not going to worry about yesterday.

rainbow616 · 08/09/2024 16:55

Hope everyone's had a good birthday. We are all sleep deprived here thanks to hand foot and mouth. My 19 month old is so poorly bless her. We had to take her to hospital yesterday as her temp was low and skin was mottled. We had no idea it was hfm at that point and by the time we left the hospital her hands and feet were covered in spots and the dr saw blisters on her tonsils 😩 so diet and exercise has gone out of the window for us! But what can you do eh?! Hopefully she's feeling better tomorrow 🤞

TheRealHousewife · 08/09/2024 22:42

@rainbow616 I hope your little one feels better soon.
I am back to the gym this week so hoping for a good result this week. Did 30 minutes on my walking pad at home this morning 😃

HomemadeHallie · 09/09/2024 09:07

I’m back, was in a funk and fell off the wagon a bit (a lot). Have planned my calories for today and about to do some movement once Ive finished my coffee.
skipping the fasting for a bit as due on my period and its not making me feel good right now.

hope everyone is doing ok !

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 09/09/2024 10:14

I was out yesterday celebrating my birthday and thank you so much those of you who wished me happy birthday! Much appreciated!! I did over indulge and sort of had to have 2 “dinners” but they weren’t too bad.

My Lidl Bahlsen chocolate and biscuits are only one side biscuit and one side chocolate. I’ll get those again.

PatienceOfEngels · 09/09/2024 12:02

Had a very relaxing weekend! 11km cycling yesterday with the kids and walk round a garden. Managed to get a bit of gardening done, wash the car, yoga, and be sensible with food.

Back to work today. Managed yoga before the kids got up - started raining as I was finishing so not sure how long I can keep it going outside. Teaching so will get a fair few steps in at work but will try to go for a walk this evening.

-Boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
-fruit/veg plate
-leftover rice with green beans and carrots
-slice homemade banana bread
-chilli con carne and rice

Chloblo · 09/09/2024 14:40

Ive just started my weight loss journey - really want to become healthier and fitter as I am finding it challenging chasing around my toddler. I have started a calorie decefit and started going to boxing training. Hopefully this is the start of my new life

PatienceOfEngels · 09/09/2024 19:17

Welcome @Chloblo !

Well, after sweltering on Saturday, today it feels like autumn is well on the way - very windy, breezy evening walk with leaves falling and dark skies. Been raining on and off today. Steps done for the day.

Going to look back through the thread for food inspiration for tomorrow as no idea what I want to eat.

LegoTherapy · 09/09/2024 19:22

It's snuggling up in your dressing gown and fluffy socks sort of weather today although the sun came out at lunch time.

I've been gardening today and have clocked up 12 miles. I'm rather tired. Homemade pizza for dinner with a load of veg on it. Breakfast was porridge, lunch was toast because I didn't have much time.

Roll on bedtime!

Fellsbells · 09/09/2024 21:00

Mostly eating nutritious food with a sensible amount of calories, but I am finding that I am letting the treats slide in too easily. I made a cake for the children today and ate two small slices. It isn’t catastrophic, but I don’t want to slide into old bad habits.

8k steps and 30 min work out will even it out, I don’t want to see my weight creeping up.

HomemadeHallie · 09/09/2024 21:56

Today done ✅
1511 calories
20 min workout
1 hour of walking

a good day to get back on it
