Following on from LOSE IT! Awesome August

Drum roll please! Now it’s the time for an Autumn Re-set!

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am idling around 9st 4lbs after having been hovering around 8st 12lb for several months. TIME FOR ACTION and get back on it! 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Oops, can't tag properly on mobile RainbowWife!

RainbowWife · 19/09/2024 17:54

Perfect, thank you for getting that picture for me @PatienceOfEngels! I appreciate it. I've found pumpkin on Amazon and will give them a go. I'll let you know how I get on!

Fellsbells · 19/09/2024 20:41

Tale of two halves today. 10k steps and a leg workout. Sensible breakfast and lunch. All good.

Then an evening that was a mistake. Ate dinner too late and then over ate. Probably the worst day I’ve had for three months. Tomorrow is a new day though.

PatienceOfEngels · 20/09/2024 06:35

Good attitude to have @Fellsbells . Everyday we get the chance to start again!

Really feeling a difference in my body at the moment. Yoga work is definitely paying off. Was back outside practicing this morning with the stars and the big harvest moon and it was so lovely. Also enjoyed my evening walk the last few nights - warm and sunny with an autumn breeze. Would like to add some more strength work. There's a trim trail along the canal that I might try and visit once a week.

Had beetroot soup for lunch yesterday and fornello for dinner (Portuguese dish with rice, eggs, chicken that is baked in the oven).

Today
-yoga done ✅
-boiled egg and rye toast, butter, coffee
-not sure yet but maybe some chicken or leek and potato soup out the freezer. will definitely lay off the bread
-dinner out! My favourite restaurant so pretty sure I will be eating garlic prawns, steak with chips and veg, and creme brûlée!

OneDayIWillLearn · 20/09/2024 07:29

12 stone 5 7/8lbs on the scales this morning - first time I’ve seen that weight for at least two years!! I’ve had a good first 4 days to the week so really chuffed about that.

SW: 13 stone 6 1/4lbs
GW: lower half of 11 stone bracket probably

my usual weigh in days are Tuesday and Friday but doing Wednesday as well now, probably overkill but actually finding it useful to see patterns and it is so much less ‘all or nothing’ than when I weighed once a week

weekends are usually a downfall for me though and we’re away (again), this time at my in-laws. So let’s see how this goes…

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 20/09/2024 10:36

CW: 13 stone 5 llb
GW: 11 stone

No idea if I’ve gained or lost.

Breakfast: blueberries with porridge and flax seeds
Snacks: 2 rich tea light biscuits and 2 apricots plus tea with skimmed milk.

Yesterday I hoovered up 2 double choc Skinny Whip bars. Dinner yesterday was fishcake with broccoli and carrot and cheese sauce and potato. Will try to halve potato next time.

This afternoon going for a swim plus sauna and steam but will walk there.

Yesterday though I saw my neighbour and friend for lunch, she’s a runner but has had to have an operation on her ankle heel area for damaged tendon so foot in a boot. I think she’s trying to stay slim though (her DH is 10 years younger). She had a nice black smocked dress and black canvas bomber jacket and looked good.

RainbowWife · 20/09/2024 11:24

@Fellsbells today is a new day. Draw a line under it! I don't know about you, but previously if I fell off the wagon once I'd think 'well I might as well restart next Monday!'. I'm not doing that anymore, each day is a new one. Good luck!

@PatienceOfEngels have fun tonight, your dinner is my fave combo too!

LemonDrizzle23 · 20/09/2024 13:02

Well done @OneDayIWillLearn !

Home from the spa and back in the real world. Going to be generous to myself and assume the scales are artificially inflated from absorbing a load of spa water, and not the 3 course dinners 👀

Back on it today. Eggs on toast eaten and just about to head to the gym. I think I may follow @PatienceOfEngels example and have a go at some yoga. The woman who did my massage was vaguely horrified at how stiff I was, so probably something to work on there!

PatienceOfEngels · 21/09/2024 09:49

Morning all!

Had a lovely meal out last night and ate exactly what I predicted! I was tempted to have a glass of wine but since they didn't have my favourite (NZ Sauvignon Blanc) I stayed strong and stuck to tonic.

Today -
Yoga done, cycled DC2 to their music lesson and back.
B-boiled egg, rye toast, coffee
L-Maybe scrambled eggs on toast
D-something with chicken, maybe a stew with leeks/carrots and rice or potatoes
S-so far a satsuma. DH bought more even though the fruit bowl was full so probably just more satsumas today!

BritishDesiGirl · 21/09/2024 18:11

Good evening

Weighed in today : 11st 4lbs

One pound on. Awful day of eating yesterday and today. Period on the way so very very hungry and nothing hitting the spot. Still determined to lose weight by my birthday.

SW 11st 3lbs
CW 11st 4
GW 11st

Iamnotaloggrip · 21/09/2024 21:17

Today’s been ok, avocado toast with poached egg and a banana for lunch, then Camembert, fruit and (too much) bread for dinner. Have managed another cycle this afternoon though so feel slightly better about the bread (and wine).

Cooking a roast tomorrow but not sure what I’m having for lunch yet. Not sure I’ll be another pound down on Wednesday 😂

Fellsbells · 21/09/2024 21:54

A good day yesterday brought my weight down this morning.

Today has been quite lazy and I’ve gone over my calories. Either the weather or my hormones is making me very hungry.

Plan for tomorrow is to drink more water and eat three, large nutritious meals to stop me endlessly snacking later in the day.

Skyglimmer · 22/09/2024 07:17

My weigh in day today and I'm another 0.7kg down, I'm pleased with that especially as I'm on my period.

SW - 62.7kg
CW - 60.3kg
GW - 52kg

So close to getting under 60kg again 😄

RainbowWife · 22/09/2024 10:40

Sunday weigh in and it's minus 4 for me!

Really pleased. Calorie counting on Nutracheck is really helping me make good choices. It's like a little personal challenge (to stay in my allowance) every day and I like a little thing like that.

Well done @Skyglimmer

TealIntermittentFaster · 23/09/2024 13:25

Delighted to be -1.9lb this week, making 6lb loss in 3 weeks. I was ready for a gain or a maintain as I have had cake twice, too much bread and too many 'white' foods (white pasta, rice etc) this week. I also had no time to do any yoga, walking or strength exercises but I did fast for between 17 and 20 hours each day so that must be doing some good!

This week is far less busy in the evenings so I am hoping to fit in more exercise and I have no meals out planned (so therefore no cake!).

SW: 18st 2.7lb
CW: 17st 9.7lb
Week 1: -4.4lb
Week 2: +0.3lb
Week 3: -1.9
TW: 10st 10lb

SophieOrt · 23/09/2024 14:02

Hi All! I'd love to join this!
I've recently signed up to take part in a charity boxing match where they provide you with 8 weeks free training at a boxing gym before your actual fight, but my overall fitness needs improvement and, after putting on a stone this year, I could do with dropping a few lbs as well! I definitely need to step up my diet and eat less UPF foods, as well as improving my cardio and muscle mass. Any help/advice/motivation much appreciated!!

Skyglimmer · 24/09/2024 06:49

Week 4 and I'm struggling but I know I need to push through. I saw an Instagram reel that said it takes 12 weeks until you start seeing a difference in yourself. By Christmas I want to be half way through my goal 🤞🤞

OneDayIWillLearn · 24/09/2024 07:15

went off track at the weekend again (we were away and not in control of all the food though I also made some bad choices). So it was 5 good days and 2 bad last week, vs 3 good and 4 bad the week before.

pointed everything up on WW though. I was about minus 50 for the week, oops!

back on track yesterday and at home this weekend so hoping to stay in the zone better for the whole week this time.

PatienceOfEngels · 24/09/2024 09:02

How can one evening meal out throw your whole week out! I'm so used to staying it, was shattered the whole weekend after Friday night out. Eating late disagreed with me so I didn't sleep well and when I'm tired I make bad choices/snack more/eat after dinner.

Oh well, hoping tomorrow will be a maintain.

Plan for today:
✅walk round the block
✅yoga outside
B-boiled egg, rye toast, coffee
L-omelette with red pepper
D-meatballs in red wine gravy with rice, broccoli and carrots
S-one million satsumas

May need another walk around the block this evening.

Fellsbells · 24/09/2024 11:36

Had a shock on the scales this morning having gained a few pounds. Totally deserved as I’ve been eating like my old self over the weekend.

I’ve had to be honest with myself and realise I can’t relax about maintenance. It’s as hard as losing weight. Today I’m focusing on the good habits I stuck with over the summer.

If I’m hungry I drink a glass of water.
I can’t consume cake/ice cream/ chocolate in sensible quantities, I have a small amount then want to eat it all. So I can’t have any.
Eat high volume, low calorie nutritious food.

B- Greek yogurt, flax seeds, blueberries.
L- veg soup
D- chicken curry

I’ve had a real shock with gaining weight too as once it’s gained I find it harder to lose (anti depressants, anti anxiety drugs don’t help either plus menopause).

If I’m really firm with myself and have breakfast with no snacks and other things then that’s a start. Was slightly irritated that on Sunday a 3.3km walk up steep hills and countryside didn’t show more on my fitness app.

Today:- breakfast porridge with skimmed milk, blueberries and flax seed.
Tea with skimmed milk.
Lunch cheese (low fat) on toast with tomatoes, cucumber slices, slim a soup minestrone.

Snacks: 2 x apricots, 1 x orange.

Walk of 1 hour to swimming pool then 1 hour swimming.

PatienceOfEngels · 25/09/2024 07:07

WOW -0.6kg 🎊

SW 77kg (Oct 23)
CW 71.2kg
GW 68kg

Yesterday went to plan food wise apart from some sneaky cheese at the end of the day. Not feeling 100% at the moment - blocked ears and sinuses - and have had really bad anxiety which has been affecting sleep and digestion the last few days.

Plan for today:
B-rye toast with butter and marmite, greek yoghurt with banana and honey
S-fruit/veg
L-leftover rice, vegetables and red wine gravy
D-soup and bread
Going to do yoga at school in my classroom and go for a walk at the end of the work day before after school pick up (DH is out this evening so won't be able to walk until late this evening which means I won't!)

-3kg by Christmas so I can get to my goal? If I stay consistent and don't let one bad day turn into a bad weekend/week then I know I can do it. Have a few dangerous weekends coming up over the next month - away for a night in a hotel this weekend, 3 night hotel stay for a course the weekend after, trip to UK at half term (which will include a few meals out).

@Fellsbells I'm the same with things like cake/biscuits/cheese/crisps - once I start I cannot stop. Avoiding sugar and UPF, and drinking lots of water helps me with most of those things (as does not buying them in the first place - cheese causes the biggest issues here as I can't just not buy it). Re-educating my taste buds to crave less sugary salty foods is helping as well.

OneDayIWillLearn · 25/09/2024 07:15

WOW: 12 st 6 3/4lbs today, down from 12 st 7 5/8lbs last week so 7/8ths of a lb down!

not earth shattering as a loss but good given I went over my points quite a lot at the weekend and always nicer to go down that up.

slow and steady wins the race right?!

LemonDrizzle23 · 25/09/2024 07:18

Morning WOWers! Well done to everyone weighing in.

@Fellsbells and @PatienceOfEngels yep crisps are my downfall. Specifically the co-op salt and vinegar crisps. I could eat a share bag of those and not even blink, and the bag is something like 700+ calories.

Weight went up with spa break, and too much treat food, but has come back down again, so basically no change here for me over the course of two weeks.

We are all full of cold, thanks to back to school, so I'm loading everyone up on vitamins. I am however enjoying the start of autumn (other than the flood waters 😬).

Lem0nTang0 · 25/09/2024 09:43

WOW

Week - 10 - 1lb down
SW - 15.11
CW - 14.10
GW - 11
Total Ibs lost - 15

I always weigh on a monday and it was showing 1lb loss, however I weighed this morning and was down to 14.8 which would be 3lbs.However, I am not going to log that weight unless its still showing next monday. I am due to go to a work dinner tonight at a chinese restaurant which will pile on the water weight and then at the weekend I have a family meal (the family are feeders) willpower alone will not help on that day.
well done everyone keeping going this week and even if the scales didnt show what you hoped...you are still here and we can do this!
