Welcome @thisisasurvivor!!
I’m the poster who pointed you towards this thread as I’ve found it so helpful.
I know you asked me on the other thread about things that helped me but just replying here.
I’ve been on Ozempic for 11 months and am c. 105lbs down. It’s been tough. I haven’t been able to increase the Ozempic dosage to what I need due to supply issues, and it’s expensive, but it really has helped me.
I tend to stick to 1,300kcals a day, try to avoid too many carbs, but snack far too much. I constantly moan on here about hating exercise.
My approach to weightloss is quite mathematical. Everyone is different but I like spreadsheets and numbers. I started by calculating my BMR (so the amount of calories your body burns daily by just keeping you alive). To lose 1lb, you typically need to create a deficit of c. 3,500kcals. For me, 1,300kcals/day gives me a loss of about 1-2lbs weekly. I use My Fitness Pal to track calories.
I find the Ozempic definitely curbs my cravings. I would previously have eaten a lot of doughy white bread (with butter!), but don’t have an appetite for it anymore. Also have no tolerance for fizzy drinks or cakes/pastries. Still too fond of biscuits.
Food-wise, I tend to have very low calorie breakfasts and lunches, and then have what I want for dinner but portion control it. I don’t eat desserts, but often have a cup of tea and two biscuits in the evening. I love wine but seem to have lost the taste for it.
A typical day looks like-
Breakfast: big bowl of watermelon with 0% fat Greek yogurt, or a measured portion of a high fiber cereal with skimmed milk. I try to keep it under 200kcals.
Lunch: seasoned chicken breast with kimchi and salad, or maybe an egg white omelette with mushrooms and peppers and a protein tortilla wrap with a little cheese, or prawn gyoza with kimchi. I aim for under 300kcals.
Dinner: whatever the family is having, but I try to keep it to under 600-700kcals. So maybe a stir fry, or some chicken nuggets and airfryer chips with salad, or homemade soup and brown bread, or a low calorie ready meal. Probably eat out once a week but I focus on small portions- I’ll often order pizza and eat two slices with salad and then have some more the next day. The Ozempic dulls my appetite so genuinely find two slices more than fills me.
Snacks: need to work on this but typically custard creams or an ice-lolly. Try not to put myself over 1,300kcals for the day from snacking, and also try to stay under 200kcals for snacks alone. So if I’ve eaten 1,000kcals for the day, I won’t snack 300kcals- I’ll stop at 200 max.
I have about 35lbs left to lose- hoping to be at my goal by the end of this year.
