10st plus to lose - part 3

ShinyPikachu · 26/04/2024 13:22

A big welcome to anyone who wants to join us on bigger weight loss journeys.

We are all following our own methods, whatever works for each of us and no judgment for anyone who falls off the wagon for a bit either. We've all been there and know we're on a marathon and not a sprint.

Part three, let's go!

I haven't @chalkyc2 but I will definitely give them a go!! Still struggling through the beginner class 🙈

DuckWithOneWing · 04/10/2024 12:29

@chalkyc2 Christmas it is! We can do it this time.
I don't have a peloton, but Power Zone classes sound epic.

@peonym keep your original starting weight. Then you can say you've nearly lost 2 stone and that sounds impressive!

I think I'm coming down with a cold. I'm so pleased it's this weekend rather than last weekend! I have my gym induction later today but my partner says they'll only show me around so hopefully it won't be too energetic.

SW: 22st 10lbs
CW: 13st 0.5lbs

GW1: 12st
GW2: 10st 7lbs

peonym · 05/10/2024 19:45

Very true @DuckWithOneWing! How did the gym induction go?

DuckWithOneWing · 05/10/2024 22:21

Gym induction was really good! There's a women's only section which is great. I tried the treadmill, the cross trainer and the bike. Cross trainer is hard! I was only on level 1 and I lasted 5 minutes before I turned into a hot sweaty mess. The instructor who did the induction invited me to his class on Monday so I've agreed to go - I'm not entirely sure what it is as it's just described as "lift, curl and lunge through a range of upbeat exercises" but it's included in my membership and if I hate it I won't do it again.

Then today I went back and ran 5k on the treadmill.

Sunshineandrainbow · 12/10/2024 09:41

Morning everyone!
How has your week been?..

I have lost 2lb which I am chuffed with.
I did stop twice on way home from work and walked round a lake. It's only about 3k but more than I did last week when I did no exersize at all.

Start weight 18.9
Current 15.6

Target - no idea to be honest.

DuckWithOneWing · 15/10/2024 13:41

My week went ok. Lost 1kg which I'm happy with. Unfortunately yesterday my gym class was cancelled so I couldn't go, but I've booked another one for Friday.

How is everyone else getting on?

peonym · 16/10/2024 08:47

Hi everyone

Weigh in day for me! Lost 2lbs this week. Was hoping for a bit more as I've seriously upped my exercise and bar a family party on Saturday was eating really well. Desperately want to see 15 something soon.

Hope to stay well on the wagon this week!

Everyone seems to be back on track and doing really well 👏👏

I am still losing but very slowly. It is better than gaining though so happy with that.

SW - 21st 1lb on 16/3/24
CW - 17 st 12lbs
Total loss 3 st 3lbs

I need to be looking at this thread more often as it does give me inspiration. You are all doing so well.

Sunshineandrainbow · 20/10/2024 14:24

Wow @Sammysees that's incredible weight loss, you should be really proud. Slow and steady wins the race. Have you made any soup recently?

Sammysees · 20/10/2024 17:36

Yes!! Leek and potato is my current fave. And also vegetable. I take a pot to work most days now salad season is over. Also loving that it is plum and pear season.
What is everyone else eating?

DuckWithOneWing · 20/10/2024 22:17

You're doing well too @Sammysees! 3 stone since March is amazing!

@peonym your goal weight is the same as mine. I'm sure you'll see 15 something on the scale soon - and then it will soon turn to 14.

I bought some Seasonal Pears from Tesco recently and they were really tasty. I'm always a bit worried about pears though, as they seem to only be ripe for about 10 seconds. They're either too hard or over ripe.

peonym · 22/10/2024 08:03

Thank you @DuckWithOneWing ! It's always nice to have a "goal buddy", especially one is a little further along for inspiration!

Weigh in day tomorrow 🤞🏻

How is everyone doing? Hope the storm didn't wreak too much havoc.

DuckWithOneWing · 22/10/2024 10:58

OMG my legs this morning! I think they're worse than after my half marathon. I had a session with a personal trainer yesterday and he got me to do exercises I've not done before. But it was really good, and I now have a workout to do at the gym.

I don't think we had a storm here @peonym It did rain a bit on Sunday but not loads.

peonym · 23/10/2024 09:48

Hi everyone!

Just a quick check in for me:

SW 18,7
CW: 15,12
GW: 10,7

Loss this week was 4lbs, delighted with that!

Would love to lose a stone before Christmas.

@DuckWithOneWing great job on the PT! I had one in my 20s when I was wonderfully athletic and I remember getting up at 5am 4 times a week to flip tractor tyres with ease 😮

DuckWithOneWing · 25/10/2024 12:27

I have an announcement, but I'm a bit scared I'll be kicked off the thread as I think this means I've graduated.

SW: 22 stone 10 lbs
CW: 12 stone 9.5 lbs

I've lost 10 stone!

Echoes89 · 25/10/2024 16:09

@DuckWithOneWing oh wow, that's truly amazing
Hope you're proud of how far you've come 😊

Sunshineandrainbow · 26/10/2024 01:26

@DuckWithOneWing that's incredible. You must feel amazing.

peonym · 26/10/2024 11:38

@DuckWithOneWing absolutely brilliant. You're my inspiration now (no pressure ha!!) 👏🏻👏🏻

Sammysees · 27/10/2024 17:33

What an absolute amazing achievement @DuckWithOneWing

Now you have to give us all of your secrets 😂

Well bloody done 🙌🏼

Sunshineandrainbow · 30/10/2024 07:27

How is everyone's week going? I need new batteries for my scales so I have not weighed for a week or so. Food wise been ok and sticking to what I know works.

Christmas is slowly creeping into everything and I am trying to ignore all in the shops. I always overbuy so this year going to make a sensible list and stick to it.

ShinyPikachu · 30/10/2024 07:52

I keep forgetting to post in here. I've had another time of being ill and relying on junk food but with my weight going down then up again when I'm feeling better so I've been all over the place.

Still fighting something off at the moment but feeling well enough to try and get back to normal. I think this is my biggest issue with trying to lose weight though. It's easy enough for people to say "eat less, move more" but when you have my horrible lack of immune system it's more like "eat a takeaway or not eat at all" and I can't eat nothing on my medication and I end up barely even able to get out of bed. Sad

Anyway, weighed in again this week.

SW: 19st 11.6lb
CW: 18st 5.7lb

Total loss: 1st 5.9lb

I know I had more than this off before but I had some really big gains so I'm glad to be back down to this.

Izzydogmum · 30/10/2024 16:50

Well done @DuckWithOneWing that's a massive achievement.
🎉

Izzydogmum · 30/10/2024 16:54

Haven't been on here in a while, had stomach issues and generally busy with life.

Still plodding away.
SW: 311.2lbs
CW: 285.7lbs
Total loss: 25.5lbs

Fingers crossed to get into 270s by end of Nov in time for holiday.

DuckWithOneWing · 03/11/2024 23:11

Thanks everyone! I am so impressed with myself. I never thought I'd get this far, but here I am.

@Sammysees the only secret is to keep going. I've had bad days - I had almost a year off after Henry died - but I got back into it. The time will pass anyway, so you might as well make it worth it.

@ShinyPikachu can you keep a stash of ready meals in the freezer? Sometimes I'm not able to cook, so I always have something in that I can just throw in the microwave. I like the steam fresh vegetables because you can have them as I side with anything.

@Sunshineandrainbow I'm planning to stagger Christmas. That way I can have a small amount of the exciting food every week rather than having it all at once. I tend to have an afternoon snack at work, so I'll just take in a few chocolates or a biscuit or whatever but will work it into my calories.

@Izzydogmum that's a great target. I'm sure you'll get there.
