A big welcome to anyone who wants to join us on bigger weight loss journeys.

We are all following our own methods, whatever works for each of us and no judgment for anyone who falls off the wagon for a bit either. We've all been there and know we're on a marathon and not a sprint.

Part three, let's go!

hi everyone! Sorry I’ve been quiet, it’s been a hectic few weeks. @Readinsteadgreat losses the past couple of weeks 👌🏻getting under 100kg is fantastic mentally isn’t it. You’ll hit the next milestone soon 💪🏻

@AITAH10sorry to hear about your Easter but a good silver lining!!

@iwentjasonwaterfallsdefunutely a great silver lining lol. Glandular fever is awful though I hope you feel better soon!!

I’ve been teetering around the same weight, and have gained this week. Very frustrated but just need to tell myself it’s a process (and a long one at that). I am just SO hungry at the minute. And we’ve had a few events / parties recently and the house is full of “treats”. Not good.

SW: 18,10
CW: 12,11 (had been 12,9 last week)
GW: 11,7

Hi everyone,

I've been silent a while now, for the usual reasons! Since February I've lost just under 1.5 stone, but I've stalled the past six weeks or so. I'm down from 315 pounds to 295 pounds.

I haven't put any weight back on and have weighed myself intermittently. In some ways I feel this is a "success" in that I am not binging after losing (although this morning for the first time I properly binged).

Trying to get my momentum going for another blast to lose a weight. I thought checking in here might successfully motivate me / kick start me! I've a holiday mid July and could realistically be a stone lighter by then which would feel great.

ShinyPikachu · 03/06/2025 22:13

Hope your DH’s recovery is going well @DuckWithOneWing

I had to take some time away from weight loss just for my mental health as I was struggling just to get through each day so it’s been a little while since I last stood on the scales but was happy to see I’d lost a couple of pounds in the last month. I’m still heavier than I’d got to but my focus is back and I’m calorie counting again which is something I haven’t properly managed for ages now.

I’ve got some appointments coming up soon for some of my health conditions, one of them is with a doctor I haven’t seen before and I just know the fact I need to lose weight is going to be mentioned. There’s a small procedure I can have done which would take me off one of my medications completely but I really feel he’s going to tell me it can’t be done until my BMI is lower. So I’m slightly dreading that but at least I can tell him I’m working on it.

Wow another 5 weeks or so has flown by!
I've maintained my weight since my last check in at the end of April. I'm not disappointed by that - weight loss has not been my focus at all, especially the last few weeks with family illness and half term. I am really going to try in June and July to lose a few more lbs so I'm closer to 12 stone by the time our August beach holiday rolls around.
I will say I've very much enjoyed shopping for clothes I actually like for summer this year, rather than just looking for something that fits. Everything in my life feels very different from a weight perspective this time around.

SW - 18 stone 10lbs
CW - 12 stone 10lbs
GW - 12 stone

Sunshineandrainbow · 04/06/2025 07:39

@ShinyPikachu I hope your appt goes better than you imagine. I am pleased you have focused on your mental health it's really important.

@Thejugglestruggle your weight loss is amazing, any tips you can share?

I have not weighed for at least 2 months I feel I have gained and I am scared it will make me spiral but maybe I just need to face the scales and use it as a black marker pen and start again. Blimey why is it so hard. Also struggling with peri menopause and my motivation is basically zero, just manage to get through work and not much else.

DuckWithOneWing · 05/06/2025 18:21

Thanks @ShinyPikachu (and everyone else). We had a slight blip and he spent another week in hospital with sepsis. He's now out again and seems so much better so we're both hopeful things will continue to improve from here.

I still haven't been tracking my food but am at my target weight. I've been running since the weather has been better (apart from today, when it's so rainy I've given up walking and have got the bus home from work) but I haven't been to the gym or pilates in ages.

ShinyPikachu · 09/06/2025 20:45

Gained half a pound this week despite calorie counting most of the time. Had a bad weekend though as my period started and it’s a doozy this month as well as having some personal stuff so did eat out a couple of times and had a takeaway last night which I know never helps but had to be done since I wasn’t at home.

@DuckWithOneWing - sorry to hear about the setback but I’m glad he’s been doing better and I hope that’s continued.

I failed again, but I'm back now. Life has been very hard for the last few months (years) but I need to do this for DD (and me)

Sorry to hear your having it tough @PlantDoctor

Keep striding forward 💗. How has today been?

I still haven't weighed myself. I really must face it this Saturday.

PlantDoctor · 10/06/2025 23:03

Thanks @Sunshineandrainbow, not too bad thank you. Got Tesco bringing some healthier choices tomorrow!

peonym · 11/06/2025 12:47

Hi everyone

@PlantDoctorsorry you’ve been having a rough time - well done on making healthier choices tomorrow that’s a brilliant step! Hang in there.

@ShinyPikachumy period weight fluctuates so much I wouldn’t even count half a pound gain!

@DuckWithOneWinghope things continue to improve and well done on the running!

@Sunshineandrainbowits so hard to face the scales but you can do it! Saturday is the day 👌🏻

@Thejugglestrugglethis is fantastic. We had the same start weight and I was down to 12,9 a few weeks ago but for a whole host of reasons I’ve crept back up.

really need to get a handle on my eating. I’m doing enough exercise so I know it’s the snacking that’s doing me in.

OK I have weighed, it's not pretty but I have done it.

First weigh in since January when my lowest was 14.11 after being in hospital so probably not realistic.

Start weight 18.10
Current weight 15. 7

I must not let this blip send me into a spiral but I feel a bit lost and low. .

I have been avoiding the scales for a good while, I knew I'd put on weight as trousers that were loose at my lowest and had to be pulled up, became well fitted last year when I put on just over a stone, had become almost too tight to wear now. I'd stopped tracking food and had started snacking alot. I finally faced the scales at the beginning of this week back up to 14st 7lbs. A couple years ago I'd got as low as 12st 3lbs. I am also feeling pretty low about putting back on. But I've tried to get my head back in the game, if I keep ignoring the scales and doing nothing positive about it, I will be back where I started. Trying to think about the loss since my starting weight rather than my gain from my lowest and hope I can keep on track a bit better this time

SW - 17st 3lbs
CW- 14st 4.5lbs (lost a bit since beginning of the week)
GW - 10st 6lbs
Mini goal - back in the 13st something range

Thejugglestruggle · 13/06/2025 18:04

Hi guys,
Just thought I'd jump on and say how amazing it is to have the courage to jump on the scale after a period where weight loss hasn't been the focus. I actually think it's in those moments where we really show up for ourselves and our commitment to our health and weight loss shines brightest.
I hope you guys can take it day by day and get to where you want to be. Good luck xxx

Lilofthevalley · 16/06/2025 10:45

Hi everyone. I was on this chat in September briefly, then my sister died unexpectedly and weight was the last thing I was thinking about. I gained a bit and have now lost a bit, so felt it was time to come back and be among people on the same path for encouragement, accountability and to try to keep on track.

Will probably take me a while to get to know user names again!

Hope everyone's day goes to plan. I saw a meme today that made me chuckle so thought I'd share:- When a bear wears socks and shoes, it still has bear feet.

So sorry for your loss, @Lilofthevalley xx

PlantDoctor · 18/06/2025 00:30

Hi everyone. Been doing quite well the past couple of days. I quite like intermittent fasting, so skipping breakfast and just eating lunch and dinner, then not snacking/emotional eating in the evening. I find it quite doable as by the time I've done the mad morning rush and settled down to work with a coffee, it's only a couple of hours to lunch!

I also finally plucked up the courage to book an appointment to speak to Dr about my weight. The triage person said I've exhausted most of their options already (slimming world and online "healthy eating" course that was really patronising and basic!). They did book me in to speak with GP about emotional eating though, which might be useful. I explained that my meals aren't too bad usually; it's more that life is extremely stressful with ill family member and I eat chocolate/junk to self soothe or something.

You have all been doing amazingly! @peonym, what an incredible loss so far!

@Sunshineandrainbow and @Echoes89 , you're still so much healthier than where you started! Well done!

@Thejugglestruggle , you're nearly at your goal weight - I'm so jealous!

What sort of method have you all been using to lose weight? Anything in particular?

Sunshineandrainbow · 18/06/2025 07:40

Sorry to hear about your sister @Lilofthevalley that's really tough, be kind to yourself 💞

Thanks for the kind words.
Let us know how you get on with the GP @PlantDoctor I really understand how you feel and it feels like a battle every single day 🙁

I have been skipping breakfast, lunch about 1ish and dinner about 6ish. Whatever I have in the evening I am bulking it out with some stir-fry veg as it's quick and easy so last night was Quorn sausages, stir-fry veg and small amount home made potato salad 🙂

I am really enjoying an apple cut in half with a smidge of peanut butter, it is hitting the spot for me at the moment!

That all sounds lovely, especially in the sunny weather! My DD has been asking for salad, so need to seize the opportunity!

Thejugglestruggle · 18/06/2025 17:29

@Lilofthevalley very sorry for your loss

@PlantDoctor oh thank you so much. Funnily enough when I joined a load of boards in March 2024, I remember seeing some posters being close to or at their goal weight and feeling so envious. If anything it shows anyone can do it...and I mean that, if I can literally anyone can! Best of luck xxx

peonym · 18/06/2025 20:28

So sorry to hear about your sister @Lilofthevalleythat is extremely tough. Plenty of encouragement here, well done for taking the space you need and coming back. You’re doing so well so far.

thanks so much @PlantDoctor! I’m trying but struggling at the minute. I quite like intermittent fasting too, but then I worry I overeat in the evenings. Really great you’re booked in with the GP, keep us posted!

@Sunshineandrainbowi ADORE Apple and peanut butter and have it most evenings too!

I haven’t been as active this week as dosed with cold / flu / covid / some germ the kids brought me. So I’m very much stalled on weight loss and comfort eating all around me. Help!

Doing quite well with my first week or so back in the saddle! I've lost 1.8 kg, despite extravagant dessert at a friend's last night :)

i think my main win is that I have deliberately not been buying anything I would typically use for emotional eating. There is no chocolate in the house. Magic!

Hope everyone else is doing well this week!

Original SW - 136kg
CW - 130.2kg
GW - not sure yet

Sunshineandrainbow · 21/06/2025 09:01

Amazing @PlantDoctor and well done for not buying things to tempt you.

I have weighed this morning and lost 2lbs! I am so so pleased as felt flat last week after the gain.. I have eaten lots of quiche and salad dinners this week, I know quiche not great but I am trying to clear the freezer! I have tracked everything too.

Start weight 18.10
Current weight 15.5

A little blip last night as adult DD came round to have fish and chips with dd, I had a few chips with my quiche!!! I served them both and then adult DD said go and have your secret chips in the kitchen. It upset me as I always hoped I had kept my eating disorder / secret eating away from them - obviously not!

I remembered one time we had chips and there was some left in the bag and I took them upstairs hidden within a pile of washing to eat them alone. How bad is that!

I don't know if I need help with this issue as even now I prefer to eat alone. DD tends to eat and then I eat later on my own which isn't great as I then pick before eating. I will try harder this week but I also might look for some help? Not sure what it would be called.

Echoes89 · 21/06/2025 11:19

Knackered this week and really wanted to order takeaways or chuck a pizza in the oven and fill my face with junk food. But at the moment I've been able to resist because I'm so fed up of my weight
Down a bit this week, hoping to be back under 14st soon

SW - 17st 3lbs
CW - 14st 0.25lbs
GW - 10st 6lbs
