ShinyPikachu · 26/04/2024 13:22

A big welcome to anyone who wants to join us on bigger weight loss journeys.

We are all following our own methods, whatever works for each of us and no judgment for anyone who falls off the wagon for a bit either. We've all been there and know we're on a marathon and not a sprint.

Part three, let's go!

Ha ha @DuckWithOneWing don't have a mince pie if you don't like them, that will be a waste of calories. Amazing you went to run this morning, that's fantastic.

I am taking each day at a time. I am struggling with gallbladder pain at the moment so have to be careful what I eat.

How is everyone else doing and what are your plans for Christmas.

Sunshineandrainbow · 27/12/2024 21:37

Hi everyone

How did you find Christmas?

I was quite controlled which is easier when your at someone else's house!

Haven't weighed but I will.

Sunshineandrainbow · 28/12/2024 12:35

Weighed myself and stayed the same.
Pleased with that.
Really need to be careful this week coming as lots of bits laying around and have a few days off work which is fatal.
I am reading lots of the weight loss threads to try and gain some new ideas, going to try some over night oats and have it maybe at lunch time as I don't eat breakfast.

DuckWithOneWing · 28/12/2024 20:48

I have eaten more than I hoped I would, but I've also done a lot of exercise! I haven't been able to get to Pilates all week as they've changed the class times, but I've been the gym a lot and have done two parkruns.

PlantDoctor · 29/12/2024 08:17

Hi! I'm back after a long leave of ignoring my health absence! Ready to be back on the wagon. Over the past few months I've got new aches and pains and I feel so stupid as I have several family members with heart disease and diabetes and that's where I'm heading if I don't sort my shit out. Honestly surprised my cholesterol is still in the healthy range but I'm sure my luck can't hold forever.

I can't remember where I got to last time I posted on here, but my weight hasn't changed hugely over the past year so I'll just add my stats from my fitness pal.

Sw: 136kg (Jan 2024)
Cw: 134.8kg

Might as well jump back in before January - get a few extra days to lose some grams this way!

That's awesome, well done! The pool has been very quiet this week!

DuckWithOneWing · 02/01/2025 12:13

Welcome back @PlantDoctor

I'm now back on plan, although I do have a late party to go to on Saturday so I might make an exception!

Yesterday I went to a ParkRun - my local one was cancelled because of the windy weather so I found another one nearby. Ended up having an amazing run and finished in under 40 minutes! Never thought I'd be able to run that fast.

Thejugglestruggle · 02/01/2025 13:39

Hello everyone,

Happy New Year! I last posted 7 or 8 weeks ago, asking if I could join. I've been on this weight loss plan since March 2024 and have been so happy with my results.
I've been off plan for these 7 weeks, though, and a few lbs have crept on. I'm not too worried, I gave myself free rein and actually didn't eat as much as I normally would have (whilst still indulging!!)
I do have a renewed sense of getting back on track thankfully and losing the next 30lbs
These are my numbers -

SW: 18 stone 10lbs
CW: 14 stone 2lbs
GW: 12 stone

My first goal will be to get to 13 stone 10lbs and the 5 stone weight loss.

I'll hope to check in again at the end of January and see where I am.

Good luck to you all, kicking off the new year!

Sunshineandrainbow · 02/01/2025 14:31

Good luck for January @Thejugglestruggle

Your figures are fab, if your able to please share what you are doing food wise and any tips.

I am now off work till Monday so trying to be really carful while at home as that's when I am most dangerous.

I was OK over Christmas as we stayed with parents and I really didn't want to set my gallbladder off and ruin things so was extra careful!

Thank you so much!
Previously, I've been eating high protein, high fibre, lower (not nothing though), carb. I've also made a point of having a treat meal a week so I don't feel "hard done by." Whether it's a bacon sandwich or a Friday night takeaway, I think that's what has made me carry on much longer than previous weight loss attempts. I've also been low alcohol apart from major events or a summer holiday.
In terms of mindset, my fitness pal tracking and minor goals have kept me going. I really need that regular feeling of reaching a goal. If I'd sat back and just tried to hit a near 7 stone weight loss, I know for a fact I'd have thrown in the towel.
Definitely agree that no work/out of routine does nothing for mindless eating.
I will say the better weather today automatically makes me want to head out for a long walk. Double benefit of less time in the fridge and more exercise!

Sunshineandrainbow · 04/01/2025 11:59

Thanks for the tips @Thejugglestruggle I agree the smaller goals really help.
I need to get more protein but not keen on meat and I worry about what they shove in say the extra protein yogurts, maybe I should investigate it more before rejecting it.

I have weighed and I am shocked to have lost 2lb, I have had more choc and party food than I would have liked so I hope it's doesn't catch up with me next week.
Start weight 18.10
Current weight 15 stone,
I need to see the 14's!

ShinyPikachu · 06/01/2025 11:48

Hi all, I'm back again. I ended up just needing to go focus on my health for a while so I stopped calorie counting and just focused on doing what I needed to to get through everything.

But I've still managed to lose weight, even over Christmas (ignoring DM's very dry overcooked turkey and only eating the veggies probably helped there 😂).

I can't remember what weight I was at when I last posted but according to Nutracheck I'm now at my lowest weight since I started there.

SW: 19st 11.6lb
CW: 18st 3lb
Loss: 1st 8.6lb

I've been looking through my data and I started with Nutracheck in June 2022 but because of my health every time I start doing well, something sets me back again but the important thing is that I'm getting there. Even my weight at the start of each year has shown progress

1/1/2023: 19st 7.8lb
1/1/2024: 19st 2.7lb
1/1/2025: 18st 3.2lb

Anyway, welcome to everyone joining us and a quick wave to everyone who has seen me come and go in here. Hopefully I'll be here more consistently this year. Smile

Hi everyone

It's been lovely to read the updates. Hope you all had a great Christmas / New Year.

@ShinyPikachu that's great news you managed to lose without even really realising it! Onwards and upwards.

@Sunshineandrainbow we are twins again - I had hit 14,13 pre Christmas and my first weigh in today I'm bang on 15. Not too mad about it considering I did indulge a bit over Christmas.

My plan is to try to lose half a stone in January. And then take the next few months as they come. We would like to start trying for baby number 3 this summer / autumn and I would love to be at a good starting weight for that.

Roll on 2025!

SW: 18,10
CW: 15,0
GW: 10,7

PlantDoctor · 10/01/2025 08:14

Well I didn't do brilliantly over the Christmas holidays as I had it in my head that I head to eat all the junk so I was 'ready' to lose weight. Sooo my weight went back up to 136kg (my max) which is 300lbs!!

This week I'm doing 16:8 ish fasting and as of yesterday I've lost 1.8 kg, which is about 4 lb, so not bad in 4 days! I'm sure a lot was water weight from all the junk the week before.

Funnily enough there is still a lot of junk in the house but I feel like I can ignore it at the moment. My head feels quite clear, almost like people describe weight loss injections, but I haven't taken those. Long may it continue!

Been swimming twice a week and once a week splashing about with DD since Christmas. Had an incident last night where I tried a new swimsuit and it exposed me to everyone when the water dragged at the chest part, but hoping noone saw! I've just ordered another one so will have to find something else to do until it arrives!

SW 136kg
Cw 134.2kg

Sunshineandrainbow · 11/01/2025 09:33

We all made it through Christmas, anything gained will be gone again.
Still have Christmas hamper food here but rather then binge it like I normally would I am having a bit everyday. I will also take some to work and some to MIL!!!

I am really struggling with trousers to wear at weekends. All week I wear black trousers and I am stuck for weekends. Summer is ok as I will wear long skirts. I ordered some wide leg lightweight jeans from m and s and didn't like them on me. I just felt the bottom looked too wide and not me. I probably need to hot the dreaded changing room and try some on.

What do you all wear?

ShinyPikachu · 11/01/2025 09:41

I've recently discovered Bon Prix jeans fit nicely on me. I've got a large bum and hips but still have a waist and so many larger jeans don't cater for that, but my Bon Prix ones have small elasticated bits on each side so they fit round my waist AND my bum comfortably. They have a variety of styles too and I can even get ones for my short legs.

I don't think this week's weigh in will be a good one for me, it's birthday season for us though so we have multiple birthdays to celebrate this month and the cake that goes with each is more sugar than I would even have over Christmas so I'm used to January not always being the best.

OP posts:
Sunshineandrainbow · 11/01/2025 10:39

Thanks @ShinyPikachu, I haven't worn jeans for years but doesn't mean that I can't now! I will have a look at them now.

I haven't weighed today as it is far to cold to undress and get on the scales! Probably a poor excuse and I should just go and do it!

I made my first throw everything in veg soup this week, I normally follow a recipe so it was quite a revelation. It was onion, carrot, parsnip, celery and cabbage. I had it most evenings with brown toast and it was delicious 😊

PlantDoctor · 13/01/2025 09:00

Lost 1.8 kg this week! Nice start to the year. I really want to get this weight off this year. When I do, I'll treat myself to the zip line over the Eden Project. Currently far too heavy but mum did it once and she wants to go again!

I've lost about 60lbs in 3 months on slimming world. Which is great but ive got so much to lose and so many comments about how people would love to lose what I have but don't seem to like or understand when I say I'd love to be their weight.

Thought I'd browse the weight loss section but seems it's largely weight loss injections

DuckWithOneWing · 13/01/2025 23:20

On Saturday I went to a Parkrun even though it was a bit cold. I really enjoyed it though, and was surprised at how much I wanted to do it. Afterwards I went out for a birthday breakfast of waffles.

@Sunshineandrainbow I wear dresses with black leggings (over tights if it's really cold). I'm not saying it's the height of fashion but it is warm and I don't think it looks too ridiculous.

@PlantDoctor if anyone did notice they will just have been glad it didn't happen to them! Good on you for ordering a new swimsuit and not letting it put you off though.

That's absolutely incredible! Congratulations!

Definitely know how you feel. If I lost 60 I'd still be very overweight. It's so frustrating, especially with posts on the weight loss injections boards asking if people can take it to lose half a stone or whatever.

I don't want to take weight loss injections. It sounds daft but I want to do it myself! There are a few threads where people are losing large amounts of weight without weight loss injections though. I'm on "lots to lose accountability (no WLI)" on the chat board for example. Lots of people on this thread are also doing it without injections. X

Hi everyone

Just checking in this week. Lost 1lb which I'm happy with. I do feel like I'm doing a never ending dance at the top end of 14 stone but know slowly the scale is moving 🙈

@ShinyPikachu I have never tried them but people seem to love Halara trousers. I'm currently in a "what suits me" phase. the millennial in me refuses to let go off my skinny jeans but I'm also trying to broaden our scope as my legs are now a bit leaner!

Hi @peonym , that's amazing! 4 stone gone. How long has it taken you, and what have you been doing?

Sunshineandrainbow · 19/01/2025 09:40

Morning all

I have broken the 15 stone mark!
Start weight 18.10
Current weight 14.12.5

I have eaten badly this week so it may catch up with me. I also think I have carpel tunnel so have had to stop crocheting which is my distraction!

PlantDoctor · 20/01/2025 08:03

Down another 1.8 kg this week! Very happy with that :) I'm very proud of myself, as had an awfully stressful weekend. That would normally turn me to eat all the chocolate I could find, but I decided I didn't want to do that anymore. Long may this resolve last (not entirely sure where it's coming from!)
