2 Stone Slimmer For Summer - a thread for those with lots to lose

RedDoughnut · 01/04/2024 11:54

Here we go! This is our third 2 stones off thread.

I did really well in 2 stones off for Xmas, less good in the Easter thread.

I found having an end date in sight meant I could focus on the date rather than than the monumental amount of weight I needed to lose

End date for this thread is 15th July which will roughly tie in with school holidays. 15 weeks from today.

Welcome to anyone new who wants to join and to anyone who has been involved in either of the two previous threads.
Im not starting until tomorrow

I'd also like to ask that everyone adds one element of self care that they don't usually have time for. I'm going to start using a specific cream for my eyes. Maybe by summer that will also show a difference?

1.5lbs off this week so now 12st 11.5lbs. Starting weight - January - was 14st 6.5lbs.
Goal weight - yet to be decided

Would have been better but I had another birthday celebration yesterday at a very posh hotel. I think that's the last one.

charlie7 · 08/04/2024 08:01

I stayed the same this week. Annoying. But I know why- had a really good week then basically ate what I wanted at the weekend.
At least I now know that this is my downfall. Intend to walk more this week, fit in some strength training and buy healthier food.

recklessgran · 08/04/2024 08:27

@charlie7 Ditto. Just WHY? Weighing in at 14st 6lbs again this morning. I was in line for a 2lb loss on Friday too.
DD5 popped in with her b/f on Saturday so I invited them to stay for dinner. I made lasagne and salad and served a berry roulade for dessert. I ate all that along with a limoncello shot. Yesterday was even worse, out with DH and fell into Greggs as he fancied a sausage roll, ate loads of chocolate in the afternoon and when it came to dinnertime - - quiche, ham, salad, J.P. with a mountain of grated cheese followed by - drum roll...........treacle sponge and custard!!! FFS.
Self sabotage at it's finest.
I've given myself a talking too and tied myself back on the wagon with a big thich rope. Fresh start today.

Walkingbkwrm · 08/04/2024 08:36

Ok, DC have gone back to school now so weighing in.
SW (for this thread) 108.8kg
GW (again for this thread) 98kg
Not thinking about eventual goal weight, that’ll just depress me.
Good luck to everyone else this week.

Emjem73 · 08/04/2024 08:42

Have been very disciplined this week, recording all my meals on MFP.
1lb down
SW- 13 st 4
CW- 13 st 3
Hoping to chip away slowly but surely. Although off to see my parents next weekend, so this week may not be so easy to eat moderately!

Mrblueskys · 08/04/2024 08:46

Hi,
SW 03/04 - 246.6
CW 08/04 - 245.6
Loss 1 lb.

Thanks for this thread it is really useful to pick up tips.

I have been using MFP since Weds and trying to be completely honest with myself - which makes a change. I normally track on the good days and 'forget' on the bad.

It is giving me 1500 calories a day on a inactive lifestyle setting. I have been trying to go under on certain days and add exercise in order that I have a bit more to play with at the weekend.

For those that use MFP do you find the calories it gives exercise correct. They seem generous? But that maybe due to my starting weight.

ItRainsItPours · 08/04/2024 08:58

I find MFP pretty accurate. I would stick to the calories it suggests for at least two weeks and see if you lose. The danger going too low is you wreck your metabolism.

MagnificentMagnolia · 08/04/2024 09:02

Weighing in

SW 83kg
CW 84kg

Perhaps I can reverse the trend for next week. I usually fluctuate around 85kg - been like that for years. Would love to lose a stone or two.

Teaformetoo · 08/04/2024 09:05

First weigh in, lost 1lb 1/4. Happy with that as only did initial weigh in five days ago.

Eumie · 08/04/2024 09:13

First weigh in and I’m still the same at 80kg.
Although I’m not surprised, as I was off the rails yesterday. Oh well, back to it today!

I’ve booked in for more Yoga classes, and I’ve swapped to some less sugary instant coffee packets. Dinner this evening is going to be some delicious steak from the local butcher 😋

Gummibärchen · 08/04/2024 09:19

2lb off this week - was 173lb; now at 171.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 08/04/2024 09:34

@Mrblueskys the MFP calorie target is based on 500 below your TDEE so that you have a calorie deficit every day. It's not so low that you feel deprived and hungry, that means you're more likely to be able to sustain it.

The big risk with a very low calorie diet is that there is only so long you can heavily restrict and feel hungry every day before you go crazy and eat a whole pack of donuts.

By having a modest calorie deficit you can still eat 3 meals a day, some snacks, the odd treat, have a full belly and keep it up for months. Realistically months is the timescale we need to be planning for.

ItRainsItPours · 08/04/2024 09:37

Realistically I need to eat the amount I am now eating forever. I have lots of weight to lose so my current 500 calories under tdee is the same as my tdee to maintain a healthy weight.

Ihonestlydontgetit · 08/04/2024 09:52

I managed 1 st 10lb between Christmas and Easter and have 9lb to go but it'll take me to summer to shift it.

SW 12 10lb
CW 10 13lb
GW 10 4lb

I've recently started to exercise so that'll slow things down a bit initially.

QuirkyBrickSwan · 08/04/2024 10:05

Weighed in today at 81 so

SW 81
TW 70

Really hard to stick on calories as am short so am only on 1300 calls (bmr is 1400) so I can't go for a big deficit so upping activity. 10000 steps a day minimum (including one main walk) - out at 6am this morning for 4k walk.

socks1107 · 08/04/2024 10:09

Good morning everyone.
I am in desperate need of help with lunches! Something filing and easy to make. I don't really like meat at lunchtime as I've no access to a fridge and hate the thought of it going funny in my locker! Any ideas or help appreciated to get me out of my cheese sandwich rut

OkyDoke · 08/04/2024 10:11

@socks1107 Today I've got halloumi, lemon and coriander cous cous and green beans.

Last week I made a lovely dahl and had it with carrot sticks and a pitta bread to dip in.

Jennalong · 08/04/2024 10:20

Lost just over a 1 lb this week .
Week 8 - total loss so far 21.7 lb

imnotthatkindofmum · 08/04/2024 11:00

I'm starting too.

Been half heartedly trying for months but keep gaining and losing the same half stone. I am now properly obese having spent most of my life size 12 I'm not coping with it well.

Today I am planning to eat sensibly as I already had an unhealthy breakfast 🤦🏻‍♀️ then start counting tomorrow. Exercise today is a walk and some decorating that needs doing.

SW 16.1
TW for summer 14.1
TW 11 stone
