2 Stone Slimmer For Summer - a thread for those with lots to lose

RedDoughnut · 01/04/2024 11:54

Here we go! This is our third 2 stones off thread.

I did really well in 2 stones off for Xmas, less good in the Easter thread.

I found having an end date in sight meant I could focus on the date rather than than the monumental amount of weight I needed to lose

End date for this thread is 15th July which will roughly tie in with school holidays. 15 weeks from today.

Welcome to anyone new who wants to join and to anyone who has been involved in either of the two previous threads.
Im not starting until tomorrow

I'd also like to ask that everyone adds one element of self care that they don't usually have time for. I'm going to start using a specific cream for my eyes. Maybe by summer that will also show a difference?

I had a pretty good day today, I walked my DS to nursery which I love to do when I can as it means I’ve hit my exercise target before I’ve even started work! I did cave and have a freddo after dinner, but I’m still within calories. I also really took the time to savour it.

Also as I’ve been actually measuring the oil I use when making my potato wedges I looked at other methods for making them crispy. So far soaking them in cold water for 30 mins before cooking seems to really help!

Gazelda · 05/04/2024 21:49

I've just been diagnosed with high cholesterol, so an added motivation to eat healthier.

I've just done a Tesco shop with ingredients for lots of 'cook from scratch' recipes.

I have an arthritic knee, so exercise can be difficult. But my gym has toning table type equipment (I think it's called power plate) which I've been to twice this week. It doesn't feel like exercising, it doesn't make me break a sweat. But at least it's stretching more than if I sat on my bum all day.

It's difficult to fit in a swim around work and childcare. I'm hoping the better weather will help me feel motivated to walk at lunchtime. Not that I get chance to take a break at work!

Hello everyone

so after a bad week i’m ready to “go again” monday .. main aim is gym and water this week. once im back in routine i’ll attack diet.
Anyone know of reasonably priced diet shakes / meal replacement that can kickstart things ( not a good long term plan i know )

Epli · 06/04/2024 19:24

I've had a good day - 40 minutes slow run, then work in he garden and a long walk with my DD. Now she has 39 degree fever though so probably my work out plan for the whole next week is F.

Teaformetoo · 07/04/2024 09:28

I feel like I’ve made a good start this week. I’ve managed to keep up the cross trainer and a walk each day but it will be much harder to fit it in from tomorrow. I’ve made healthy food choices but have had a bit too much alcohol! Not expecting to have lost anything yet when I weigh tomorrow but I do feel better.

lairyfights9 · 07/04/2024 10:19

Can I join? Hoping joining a thread with help with motivation and accountability 🤞

Sw - 16 stone at my biggest (April 2021) had 2 pregnancies since then.
Cw - 12 stone
Gw - 10.7 (could go lower but 10 and a half has been my goal weight for about 12 years since pregnancy with dd1, so I'll stick with that for now!)

Ive lost most of my weight from being dairy free I think (ds has cmpa). I'm also tandem feeding my 10 month old and 2 year old.

I've recently started exercising more. Doing a circuits class once a week, swimming once a week (only 25 lengths which is about 20 mins swimming) and doing a YouTube postnatal cardio workout 2/3 times a week. No movement on the scales so far though :(

My eating is still pretty crap so that's where I need to really make some effort.

I like the Fast 800 shakes, high protein and low carb

afrikat · 07/04/2024 14:14

I came off plan on Friday night when I went to a local country music night and drank ALOT of gin, but I danced all night and did 20,000 steps over the day 🤣

Been to the gym today, walked there and back. Did 25 mins weights, 20 mins cycling and 15 mins running. Planning on another walk after dinner.

Weigh in tomorrow and probably won't have budged, it never does when I drink alcohol even if I do everything right the rest of the week 😪

ItRainsItPours · 07/04/2024 15:44

Alcohol does that to me too, I just do t seem to be able to cope with it like I could when younger.

Traceability · 07/04/2024 17:08

I'd like to join, this might help me feel fitter and more comfortable in time for my Summer wedding.

Starting weight 13st 8 lb
Current weight 12st 11 lb
Target weight 11 st 10 lb (I remember the last time I weighed this, looking back at pictures now I looked great but I felt like it wasn't good enough, I know now it was!)

Self-care to have a better face care routine and read more before bed!

marshmallowmarzipan · 07/04/2024 18:02

I’ve made some good progress with exercise this week - 2 x swims and 2 x runs but good and alcohol haven’t been great. Going to start cal counting tomo as 5 weeks until holiday!
not sure on CW but will weigh tomorrow am 😬

kirinm · 07/04/2024 18:08

I didn't eat today until about 5:30pm - an oversight rather than deliberate but OMG how do people survive on one meal a day? I had thought about trying it as someone on these threads has had great results but it doesn't look like that'll work!

@kirinm - I would suggest starting with two meals a day at first - that's what I did, with lots of success.

kirinm · 07/04/2024 19:05

@Gummibärchen this is actually what I do generally as I don't eat breakfast and that's the plan as of tomorrow (things have been a bit out of routine since Easter as my DD has been off school and I've worked from home more often than usual).

Andnowshesatoddler · 07/04/2024 19:32

Been on wegovy for three days now, honestly absolutely amazed by it!! I have just had my meal of the day and I haven't eaten all day before, not for any other reason than I wasn't hungry. I have thought about food so much less than normal today.

I started my healthy eating last Tuesday - I have lost 3lbs so far.

Start weight - 16lb 10
Current - 16lb 7
Target - 12 I think

Rennypie03 · 07/04/2024 19:38

I'm 2.2 pounds down in 7 days on Berberine 1000g and Glucomannan 1000mg. I just couldn't finish my dinner. I haven't been exercising either 🤐😀

I'm going to start exercising and see if it moves the scale any faster

I'm 43 and weigh 225 🙈

ItRainsItPours · 07/04/2024 19:53

@Andnowshesatoddler dud your gp prescribe the wegovy.

Eumie · 07/04/2024 20:24

Not a great day for me today, my DS suddenly became unwell and we had to call 999. He’s fine now but it was so stressful! I still cooked the healthy meal I had planned, but I’ve also had half a chocolate bar and most of a bottle of wine.

So I don’t think I’ll have lost tomorrow, but I did take measurements earlier and I’ve lost about a cm all over since I last measured!

Andnowshesatoddler · 07/04/2024 20:25

@ItRainsItPours
No we brought privately and I think I am saying wegovy in error it's monjaro (sp) on the box.

TeenLifeMum · 07/04/2024 20:27

Late to the party but please can I join you. I need all the encouragement available to do this but don’t want to tell people in rl.

sw - 12st 9
cw - 12st 3
tw - 10st 3 (not sure how realistic this is but anything starting with a 10 would feel better)

I’m using Noom and calorie counting. Going well and this weekend dh took dc to his parents all weekend while I worked so I’ve been able to stick to the plan, which feels good. Weekends are my downfall but the last 2 weekends I’ve gone on dog walks with friends rather than meeting for food.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 08/04/2024 06:31

SW - 1st Jan - 225 lb (16 st 1 lb - BMI 34.2)

CW - 8th Apr - 198 lb (14 st 2 lb - BMI 30.1)

Total Loss - 27 lb (12% bodyweight)

Rennypie03 · 08/04/2024 06:37

@FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain thats Amazing!!!!! WELL DONE
what did you do that had the most impact. I’m at 225 pounds starting weight

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 08/04/2024 06:50

@Rennypie03 I really wish I could say there is some kind of clever trick I'd been missing all my life that I just discovered but honestly I'm just tracking what I eat in MyFitnessPal and sticking to the calorie target they tell me to stick to.

I do one aqua aerobics class a week but haven't added lots of exercise in or anything.

I've reduced my carbs because I have PCOS and know that carbs are problematic for me, also because they're high calorie so I can eat more food if I eat less carbs.

I tend to make up a batch of mince and veg every few days and that's my lunch daily, it's about 220cals per serving, tasty, hot and filling (500g 5% mince, tinned tomatoes, whole pack of mushrooms, couple of peppers, couple of big sliced carrots, 1 or 2 onions depending on size, seasoning pack - chilli, bolognaise, shepherds pie, whatever sounds good while I'm cooking. Split into 4 portions).

I swap things like pasta, rice, potatoes for low cal veg like mushrooms, green beans, asparagus, broccoli.

If you are low-carbing be careful you have plenty of veg and water or you'll end up constipated which is no fun.

Hank86 · 08/04/2024 07:14

Rejoining after disappearing from the last thread. First weigh in done

SW 1st Jan - 12st
CW - 11st 9lb
GW - 10st

Well done everyone who is still going!

suneetime · 08/04/2024 07:28

I’ve stayed the same this week. I’m away at the end of May and would love to lose a stone or as close as possible to it by then so need to knuckle down and do this. Will do IF and am contemplating having a meal replacement shake/bar for lunch and then a normalish dinner just for a couple of weeks to try and kick start my motivation again and take away my need to make choices during the day. Any recommendations for the best tasting ones?
