Moving on from Wegovy

I've lost 4 and a half stone on wegovy. I've gone from an obese BMI to BMI of 21. I'm so happy. It took me a year. So now I'm going to taper down and stop. Has anyone else stopped yet? I'm going to keep up the calorie counting and exercise of course to keep the weight off.

I am having to slowly build mine up as I still have size 12 things that now are too big but I don’t want to keep throwing things out. They can look at bit silly though

still not at my goal weight but I am feeling more relaxed and less stressed. It’s 2lbs 😂 why worry too much

Stel83 · 09/08/2024 16:16

Can people let me know how long they have been taking or took Wegovy for? I've been on it 10 months so far.

Stel83 · 09/08/2024 16:18

Also what is the best item of clothing you have brought since loosing weight, mine is a gorgeous long dress, fitted at the top but flares at the bottom in black and green and I look amazing and I'd be upset if I regain and not fit into it.

Menora · 09/08/2024 16:40

Mine is actually just some cheap shorts from Tesco. I never wear shorts usually but this year I am all about the shorts. They so comfy I’ve been missing out. Also a skirt from Tesco that my DP said was very flattering. I have a large volume of clothes but none expensive 😂

Six months and nearly at goal weight. Not sure what I will do then as advice is to stay on it but it's expensive

I was on it for 7 months total.

Mine is a white, beachy maxi dress, I just feel really good in it.

Maybe scale back down to lower dose as it's cheaper and it will help in background but living healthy lifestyle helps you to maintain your weight. But in the UK they do not let you stay on it long term really.

I was also on Wegovy for around 7-8 months. I just bought a suede Wills jacket from Sézane and mighty fine it is. Also loving the jeans I bought from the Sienna Miller line she did for M&S, a Le Bon Shoppe sweatshirt and a studded leather belt from Massimo Dutti.

Wow....I really wish I could see pictures on this thread as those items sound amazing and I bet you look gorgeous in them! Hopefully buying clothes that we are confident in will help us maintain all the hard work we have pit into losing all this weight with Wegovy.

I love being able to wear tailored trousers again. I bought a beautiful pair on Vinted that were too small that I ended up trying on every couple of weeks until they fitted perfectly. As well as fitted t-shirts and a lovely tailored overcoat (again from Vinted)

Sounds soooooo sophisticated, bet you look epic in your tailored clothes. I don't have anything tailored I don't think but I do have a lot of fitted clothes which I feel really confident in as I have a pretty flat stomach and nice body shape. I went from a size 16/18 to 10/12. I look in the mirror and still can't believe I lost over 5 &half stones. Still would like to be a really comfortable size 10 (I can fit into 10s depending on style of clothes) so I want to lose another 8lbs but we'll see.

Menora · 12/08/2024 09:14

So I upped my calories by 200 and I am not gaining anything but I still keep thinking about getting to my goal and I am pretty close so I am giving it another go to get down to 10st 6. I just think I like the number now it won’t bring anything to my life particularly special! I just like to get to the goal I set!

Radish12 · 13/08/2024 19:32

Hello, I'm "graduating" onto this thread now that Boots will no longer prescribe at BMI 23. (Well they would allow me to taper down but honestly I'm so fed up of spending so much on it).

I have about half of a 1.7 pen left so I'm going to see if I can make that stretch another four weeks or so. I'm also going to try a chromium supplement, it's meant to balance your glucose levels so I'm hoping that might dampen the hunger a bit.

It's been heartening to read people's positive accounts of discontinuing Wegovy on here but I have to admit I feel nervous about having my crutch removed.

AhBiscuits · 14/08/2024 06:35

Good luck @Menora
I'm sure you'll hit your goal in no time.
I'm holiday at the moment, so will have a few extra lbs to lose upon my return no doubt.

Welcome @Radish12 and well done on your weight loss. Are you going to taper the dose down? Hopefully like many of us you won't find it as difficult as we feared it would be!

AhBiscuits · 14/08/2024 07:22

I had a good NSV yesterday. Last year we did an activity on holiday that requires a life vest. The guy eyeballs you and then hands you life vest he thinks will fit. I found it embarrassing and last year and I got the fat girl life vest. Did the same activity this year and the guy hands me the 50-70kg life vest.

It's little things like this that make me so happy that I'm comfortable in my skin now. We're going to a theme park tomorrow and I know none of the ride operators will be looking at me and wondering if I'll fit the seat. I don't aspire to be skinny, or have the body of a fitness model, I just want to be a normally, slim person who doesn't have to worry about things like a life vest fitting.

Menora · 14/08/2024 09:22

@AhBiscuits that is a good feeling I know what you mean. I can get dressed very quickly nowadays as I don’t have the rigmarole of things that don’t fit me very well or are unflattering. I can just grab stuff and stick it on

One thing I am really struggling with recently is constipation. It’s been very bad since my holiday and I am not sure why, nothing has changed in my diet. Last week I ended up taking some laxatives and was really unwell from it all day the next day. Last night I only took 1 tablet and so far, not much is happening. I’m holding onto a lot of weight and fluid because of it, feel bloated and pretty rubbish so it is not helping me on my journey!

AhBiscuits · 14/08/2024 09:23

It's pretty unpleasant to drink, but when I was on Wegovy and struggling with constipation I used to have lepicol every day and it worked a treat.

liz4change · 14/08/2024 21:05

Hello ladies

Got back from 2.5 week holiday where there were no scales in the house where we were staying. As I've said before, my maintenance strategy is regular weighing (2-3 times a week). On holiday I kept up steps, portion control did not calorie count.

2 kg gained, back on track - far easier to do that back in daily routine than the 18 kg I lost.

Happy that this is where I am.

liz4change · 14/08/2024 21:45

Forgot to say welcome @Radish12 !

I think we're the people exploring IRL what life after semaglutides can be, whatever the path we've followed

liz4change · 14/08/2024 21:50

@AhBiscuits love your insights, The thing about getting dressed really resonates. I have lots of lovely quality stuff I couldn't bear to get rid of that I am now very glad I kept.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 15/08/2024 01:34

Lovely to hear from everyone. Yes to being able to just wear anything you like and not having to chose some nasty frumpy tunic because it's what fits. I've been living in cute little floral dresses from New Look this summer, think Italian honeymoon in the 1950s.

Hi @Radish12 , I'm actually still holding on to the crutch 16 months in, having lost 5 stone in the first 13 months, from a size 18/20 to 10, BMI 21-22. I was able to do a pretty aggressive calorie deficit but felt good throughout, now in maintenance for 3 months but still on W, not max dose but close. Telling myself I want to get used to the maintenance stage a bit longer before going unaided. Also I have a big glamorous important work thing in September and I sort of don't want to rock the boat in any way before that if that makes sense?

@Menora for constipation DulcoEase was the only thing that worked well for me without cramps/feeling crap (no pun intended) + a few sugar free werthers originals, the toffee ones. I still get a bit constipated mid way through a dose, so clearly still has effect.

Radish12 · 15/08/2024 14:04

Hello everyone, thanks for the warm welcome!

@AhBiscuits that story about the life vest almost made me well up, that's so great, what a good feeling!

@Menora I find Magnesium gummies really help keep things moving, but not in an aggressive way 😄

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 15/08/2024 15:36

P.S: Just weighed in after holiday, lost 0.2 kg (or 0.4 lbs) ie a maintain. Pleased and surprised as I think I was about 300 kcal over my maintain target most days and did as little movement as possible. Drank lots of water though, that does seem to affect me hugely in a positive way.

Menora · 17/08/2024 08:22

I’m still the same and no change but I have gone back into my workouts so I would expect to see something over the next week or so in moving downwards. But I am still considering stopping where I am due to other people’s comments. FYI I am BMI 24.5 so I am not in any way skinny. I am a size 10 and have visible muscles and chunky legs

Im really upset tbh about a comment made about my face by someone I know who is considering bariatric surgery that my face looks different (and worse) and I am ‘too thin’. I know it didn’t really come from a bad place but I really find it bothersome the comments about how your face can look awful after weight loss. It’s not that I am in denial that it changes, it does but IN MY OPINION (caveat this is not talking about anyone else’s body only my own) I did have a nice face when it was more full, but I looked like a melted oversized cabbage patch doll under my clothes, I felt so awful in my own body, I hated it and I was so unfit I was older by about 20 years in terms of my health and fitness levels. I was out of breath (not attractive) so all I had to rely on in terms of confidence was a nice face… and now it’s gone apparently!

It’s taken me 2 years to learn to like my own body for the first time ever and now apparently I need to start hating my own face.. it’s comments on this forum too I got upset about lately. Why can’t we just not hate any of our bodies and faces and accept that things might change but in the process of improving health you gain so much more? Would I still swap my current health and fitness levels for a less attractive face than I had when I was a size 18? Yes. I didn’t want to start messing around with Botox and fillers tbh and I don’t think I will but I was searching for older photos of me to have my hair cut in a particular style again like I used to have it and just sat there staring at myself… new hair isn’t going to change my now crap face. I am ageing. We all age.

I asked a friend of mine who is a doctor for an objective opinion on my weight and she said it was healthy and she is not worried about my weight loss so I am not weight blind

It’s a new day. Got up and did a leg work out. Getting hair done. Going to try to stay positive

UnicornAndSparkles · 17/08/2024 12:10

I took my last dose approx 4 weeks ago and the rest of my pen (around 0.2mg) 3 weeks ago. Honestly so great to feel myself again! Went up 0.4lb on holiday and now down 0.5lb a week later. Have kept up healthy habits and I'm so grateful to this drug to have helped me make those habits.
