I'm due to take my 4th 0.25 injection tomorrow. This week I've really not felt any effect, no appetite suppression and have ended up having a couple of mini binges (nothing like what I could normally do though) with no side effects. Does this mean I'm probably ready to move up to 0.5?

Am I best taking what's left in my 0.25 pen tomorrow and then just relying on good old willpower (if I have any!) to get me through to next week?

StoneTheCrone · 19/03/2024 19:12

@ManchesterMarie you're only on the starting dose, it'll be several weeks before you get appetite suppression. Hang on in there. If you go up too soon you'll vomit.

Ok thanks. Will definitely stick with correct doses, apart from some diahorrea in week 1 I've not had side effects really so don't want them to start!

Flatleak · 19/03/2024 19:49

@Mash8586 you know the clicks you hear when you turn to 0.25/0.5? You count those as you turn to 1mg, then turn back to zero and just turn half the number of clicks. Eg if it takes 50 clicks to get to 1mg then twist back and just twist 25 clicks for 0.5mg.

jay55 · 20/03/2024 10:29

Just done jab 3.
A kilo off this week, so 3 down in total.

I felt like the effects took a little longer to kick in (very hungry Friday), but lasted better so hadn't tailed off by Tuesday. Couldn't finish dinner last night.

Well done to those doing well.

Hope everyone's illness and/or side effects bugger off shortly.

UnicornAndSparkles · 20/03/2024 11:22

Hi all, joining today as I took my first dose yesterday lunch time. Posting for accountability really.

SW 14 st 8.6 lb
Eventual goal weight 11 st 8
Aiming for 3 stone off, but am being rational and giving myself at least a year to do that.
BMI is around 33

I'm very body positive and I think that's distorted my reality; I've been happy muddling along thinking I don't need to loose weight and can eat anything I like and in whatever quantities I like and that diets don't work. When in reality whilst I may "only" be a size 14-16, my waist size puts me a significant risk of heart disease and I clearly am carrying far too much fat to be considered healthy. I don't place much on BMI as it doesn't account for muscle etc, but I've been hiding the reality for too long as I must lose weight this year for my health. I don't want to spend another summer covering up in baggy tops and elasticated leggings pretending everything is fine and continuing to eat massive portions and whatever chocolate/biscuits I like. If I cut down portions and cut out the biscuits my diet would actually be pretty good (lots of veg, protein and water). Aiming to be better!

UnicornAndSparkles · 20/03/2024 11:27

Did anyone find they were able to take wegovy for just a month, make the required changes in diet, and then go off wegovy and stick to the new change? I'm not keen to be on it for any length of time but I don't know if this approach is realistic when I have, ideally, 3 stone to lose over the next 12 months.

Honestly I think thats an unlikely scenario. Of course there will be people that take the drug lose weight and then manage to maintain or lose further but most will regain the weight (as per studies)

I plan to be on wegovy longterm. I did come off it after having great success with it due to supply issue (im in Ireland and it could not be gotten anywhere) so was off it for 4/5months in total. Regained weight, went back to old eating habits and was just far hungrier in general. So my plan and my consultants is to lose the regained weight and then stick to a maintenance dose

Starlightstarbright2 · 20/03/2024 12:32

I have come off Weygovy now . I am really struggling with side effects .. I lost 1 1/2 stones . Hoping to maintain that.

AhBiscuits · 20/03/2024 12:33

I'm afraid I think it's unrealistic too, it's just not enough time to make long term changes in how you eat. Plus the starter dose isn't really representative of what being on Wegovy is really like for most people.

It's not realistic. It takes 5 months to get up to full dose to doing it for one then coming off might not have any effect at all

UnicornAndSparkles · 20/03/2024 13:26

Thanks all, as expected! I don't know how I'll fund this long term. I can't imagine my GP will (England, 33 BMI, late 30s female and no "conditions" other than obesity!)

@AhBiscuits "Plus the starter dose isn't really representative of what being on Wegovy is really like for most people" - how so?

Also, when you say "full dose", what do you mean @Flatleak ?

I'm wondering if some of this is psychosomatic for me; I'm only on day 2 yet I'm eating far less than usual and it's not difficult to do so as I'm not starving. I can't imagine the injection has had any impact yet.

You're struggling with side effects of coming off @Starlightstarbright2 ? What are these? Or the side effects that you were getting whilst on it? That's an incredible loss, well done!

Flatleak · 20/03/2024 14:13

@UnicornAndSparkles I mean the first month you take 0.25mg and slowly increase over 5 months to 2.4mg which is considered the full dose of wegovy. For many the real impact isn't felt until 1mg and for some not until 2.4mg. Lost of people report fantastic results week 1 then quickly realise it's psychosomatic and takes a while to really feel the decrease in hunger

JONSWIFEY · 20/03/2024 14:26

Had my 3td 1mg dose yesterday and feel absolutely awful. I am thinking of going back to 0.5 dose as I was losing weight on that anyway and could manage the cravings. Lost 16lbs so far and am very pleased with the progress

Has anyone got a discount code for med express? Not received anything email wise since the last purchase 😩

Fumnudge · 20/03/2024 16:53

Here we go:
Going to take my first jab Friday night (hoping if there are side effects I'll sleep through)

SW 12st 4lb
Short and pear shaped
Eventual goal weight10st 4lbs
BMI is 29.6

Was 13st a few years ago and went down to 11st through excersise and keto.
Kept it at 11.4 for ages which I was happy with then went on hrt (peri) and its crept up and up. I eat really well at work, fast til midday, but find myself nibbling when I get in all the way until dinner.
This is the habit I'm hoping to kick. Keto doesn't work anymore. Weight creeps up each week. I'm desperate but also quite scared of side effects.
I'll feel kind of stupid if it makes me ill i.e. self inflicted but I'll risk it (and I very much hate needles unless someone else is doing the jabbing).
Loving the support on here (been following the threads) and really hope it works.

I was finding I was struggling with lots of acid reflux on 1.7 mg lots of sulphur burps . I missed a week due to boots screw up .

i have had dreadful constipation on my week back on it . I then didn’t take it off . Since had dreadful D&v and have been off work 2 days .

I feel it’s been a kick start so going to try find a way forward without it

AhBiscuits · 20/03/2024 18:04

We've got 31 posts left on this thread. I'll do a new one soon.

@UnicornAndSparkles It's just such a low dose that you aren't getting the full effect of the drug.

To those posting saying they feel awful late in the game, I'm curious. What are your symptoms, and did you get any before?

I feel like utter utter rubbish this week. I've been ill, I have my theories about reflux triggering my cough/pneumonia but it doesn't make sense how awful I feel along with that. Zero energy, lethargic to the max, tension headache (feels like tooth ache), plus some nausea, weak ess that comes and goes in waves, only sleeping 4 hours a night, I just feel wrong all over. Appetite is pretty much zero, but that's normal over the past 3 months.

I've been on wegovy since early December (stayed on 1mg) with just some mild nausea and tummy trouble sometimes- nothing like this. I've no idea if it's the wegovy, or something else! Just can't wait for it to be out of my system now so I can know! So frustrating

4h sleep a night will make you feel rough. This could be pure exhaustion?

AhBiscuits · 21/03/2024 10:55

That sounds extreme @EatingTillIDie
I suffer from exhaustion and some occasional nausea and stomach pain but nothing too bad.

I'm actually quite peckish today. I'm not giving in to it or anything, just an observation. I've found myself thinking about lunch. I wouldn't normally feel hungry as early as Thursday, having injected Monday. The effects of the drugs are gradually reducing over time.

That's amazing @AhBiscuits , not long to go to goal 😁

Aliflowers · 22/03/2024 07:46

well done @AHBiscuits.

Just on the hunger thing, I was on Saxenda and then Ozempic for over a year. Feeling hungrier is normal I think. I think its a combination of 'getting used to the drugs' and also your body becoming more effective at signally hunger cues. Heres the thing I thing its natural to respond to these. If Im hungry I eat. Theres no way I could eat as much as without wegovy, I make much better choices because of it, less likely to snack etc.

I dont eat breakfast) so by lunch Im ravenous. I eat a big lunch by normal standards, then a birds dinner because Im still stuffed from lunch
