checking in on this thread. First injection Sunday night- minimal side effects. 7 stone to loose so it’s a long road but hoping it’s achievable on Wegovy.

Thegoldgrind · 16/01/2024 11:13

Hi all!
I saw the first thread and reading all the positive comments inspired me to take the plunge 🤗 I've taken my first 0.25 this morning so waiting to see if I feel sick...
Hoping to lose 6 stone so a long journey ahead! Combining the Wegovy with calorie counting as that's the only weight loss method I've found successful in the past

PanettoneSoprano · 16/01/2024 12:24

Urgh. I made a big pot of chicken biryani last night, one of my favourite dinners. I had a small portion but went back for seconds.

I woke up at 2am with horrific stomach cramps which lasted hours. I was in agony.

It's the largest meal I've eaten since I started the injections and the first lot of side effects I've felt. A cautionary tale for those who haven't had any appetite suppression yet!

AhBiscuits · 16/01/2024 12:34

I had a tin of this soup for lunch with a small bread roll. It was really nice, big chunks of chicken and potato. Only 163 calories and £1 in Lidl. I feel nicely full.

Hello lovelies!

I introduced myself on the other thread and have found your insights and tips helpful to manage my anxiety about starting. Thank you! 💛

I took my first 0.25mg dose last night! I watched a tutorial on YouTube about 6 times - I’m such a numpty but also ADHD brain doesn’t follow written instructions very well…

I had a mild headache, broken sleep and dicky tummy but nothing bad at all! Managed my usual yogurt and granola breakfast this morning too. Can’t wait to weigh in next week!

Q: Do you take your weekly dose at the same time and date? I wish I had mines on Sat or Sun evening, so reduce any future symptoms at work during the week.

I take mine on a Saturday morning as I find it most reduces appetite on days 1-3 and weekend is my worse for snacking.

You can slowly move eg next week Monday evening, week after Monday morning, week after Sunday evening. Or move it faster by adding three days to the end as your dose should be every 7-10 days but that will depend on your will power as it wears off!

Annwithout · 17/01/2024 09:00

Morning all.
I had my 8th jab (4 x 0.25, 4 x 0.5) on Monday morning.
So happy to report that the magic of "food? oh yeah, I guess I'd better have something to eat" is back after it disappeared when I took a week off 😀. Just as importantly to me, and a lovely surprise is complete disinterest in alcohol :) .
I weighed myself this morning and I'm half a pound off a stone lost, so basically half a stone per pen.
Of course I wish it was more but I will be happy to carry on losing at that pace.

EatingTillIDie · 17/01/2024 10:41

I have hit my 1 stone loss milestone. Very very happy. I've been the victim of emotional overeating for 20 years. Have lost weight in the past through dieting, but never more than a stone, and always with a great deal of fuss and pain and unhappiness. I was 12 stone at age 19. At age 41 I was getting on for 20st.

Wegovy feels like it is going to change my life. I need to keep going. I can do this!

4 Dec 23 : 19st 9lb
17 Jan 24 : 18st 9lb
Currently on 3rd dose of 0.5.

I’m 3 weeks in. First 2 weeks I had no problems at all. I took my 3rd dose on Sunday. Felt very nauseous yesterday morning and then last night I felt absolutely awful. Horrendous stomach cramps, nausea. Felt like undigested food was just sitting up high in my chest. Now got awful diarrhoea and the stomach cramps are still present. Not been able to eat anything at all today. Still only on 0.25ml. Is this a normal reaction??

Kewcumber · 17/01/2024 12:54

Hi everyone.

I've just taken my second 0.25 jab - few noticable side effects but also no noticable effect on appetite this week - it was better the first week but that might have been psychological!

I've already lost about 15kg by low carbing which also works well to keep my blood sugars under control (diabetic) but was hard to sustain over Christmas so put on about 5kg of an original 20 kg loss.

I became diabetic after becoming wheelchair bound with limited mobility following an accident about 3 years ago and surgery last year to reconstruct my knee was succesful enough to mean I can walk fairly well now with no aids but a normal walk is about the limit of my ability at present. Stairs are my 2024 target!

My diabetes is well undercontrol when I limit carbs fairly obsessively but is unstable with any refined carbs added in so GP has agreed to start me on Wegovy to see if further weightloss might help stabilise the diabetes a bit more.

My understanding is low carb works quite well with Wegovy and I also take Metformin which I'm told to continue with.

Anyone else here with diabetes?

Kewcumber · 17/01/2024 12:56

Sorry for the kg! I find monitoring my weight in kg stops me obsessing about it as I can't easily work out what weight I am or how much I've lost in "real money". I know it's odd but it seems to have stopped my focus being on weight rather than health!

anoldcharter · 17/01/2024 13:07

that's fantastic @EatingTillIDie 😃

EatingTillIDie · 17/01/2024 13:41

Had a small spoon of lepicol and have a bit of rumble tummy and loose bowel (a pleasant relief really).

I watched the panorama about wegovy and couldn't disagree with any of it. Good information.

I didn't quite take on board the muscle mass issue I had read about previously so I need to step up my resistance training.

I took my third dose on Saturday morning and feel really sick today. First really negative symptom I've had. I'm wondering if I'm coming down with something.

checking in on this thread. First injection Sunday night- minimal side effects. 7 stone to loose so it’s a long road but hoping it’s achievable on Wegovy.

I am now on my 2nd jab and need to lose 7st 4lbs so like you a long way to go.

I am sure that as long as the side effects do not get too bad we will get to our goals.

Helene2019 · 17/01/2024 17:00

@AnnwithoutI too am loosing around 7lbs per pen

ProfYaffle · 18/01/2024 07:04

Took my first dose last night! Was a bit nervous about the injection but it was fine. I got the pen from Boots on Saturday but held on until mid week to use it in the hope that it's effective over the weekend.

Should I watch the Panorama programme? Was it actually good or scaremongery?

Lovesthebeach · 18/01/2024 10:19

my 1.0 pen has arrived today ready for next week. I’ve definitely noticed this week the food noise has crept back in (bloody annoying)! So I think I’m ready to bite the bullet and move up to 1.0!

hello to anyone new starting out.

I love reading everybody’s updates and success stories 😍

Pushkinini · 18/01/2024 10:28

I'm mid way through my second dose of 0.25. Weight loss is slow and I've lost just under 2lbs so far.

When do you all order your next pen? I've got one injection this Saturday and then again on 27th. Is it better to order now or wait for a week and order then? DH doesn't know I'm doing this so I'll have to hide it in the fridge where he might find it if I order too early. I ordered from Parmacy2U last time and will probably use them again as they seem to be competitive on price.

PanettoneSoprano · 18/01/2024 12:07

It's weigh day for me.

Week 1: -4lbs
Week 2: -3lbs

I'm now only 4lbs away from what I weighed in mid-2020 before I got pregnant. Once I've lost the rest of this "baby weight", I can start on the rest of my fat! Woohoo!

I've found writing a proper food diary on paper has really helped me be mindful of what I eat and drink. My goal this week is to drink more water as I've realised I'm not drinking nearly enough during the day.

whoathisisheavy · 18/01/2024 12:15

I checked in on the last thread but took my first 0.25 this morning. I've got a lot to lose but I'm hoping this will help alongside calorie counting and more exercise. I'm weighing every day (helps keep me motivated) but will log my weight every Thursday.

Starting weight: 19st 4lb
Current (after 2wks calorie counting): 18st 10lb
