If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

Morning @Penguinpairs Anyone have any tips or strategies for for giving up the treats without feeling you're missing out and blowing the whole week with a binge?

Calorie counting, boring but it works. It was ds3's birthday yesterday so I had chocolate cake. (I just had it instead of a meal) not ideal as an everyday diet but really useful to be able to join in and have a normal life.

If you work out what you want your average calories to be in a given week say 1200, and knock 200 off for 5 days you can then have 500 more for 2 days. e.g. 1000 mon-fri and 1700 sat and sun. This allows some space for going out, treats etc. and really feels like having time off. Great for long haul diets.

Good morning All!
I hope last week went well.
Great work on the loses so far!

Reflections this week - I became a bit dependent on those carbzone tortilla wraps I recommended last week and had too many, which defs slowed my loss progress.
Eating them (and finding new recipes for them) was kind of kicking me out of the mindset, and I felt all week that I was looking for ways to dodge out of the diet. But still, I had no major bloopers, breaks or binges. Stayed on it. I’m happy with that.

This coming week, I have a special event, so I might break it for a day by having a couple of drinks, but I’ll get straight back on it. That’s my pledge!

SW: 303.4lbs (04/01/23)
CW: 282.4lbs Loss this week: 3.4lbs.
TW: 198lbs

A little effort every day. Keep going ❤️

Onirique · 22/01/2024 07:48

No change this week but after some meals out and a busy week at work, that’s not so bad.

Thinkingthin · 22/01/2024 07:50

Hope you’re doing ok @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk

That is a good observation - a great cycle to break out of. Eating is defs my coping mechanism for stress.

Bumblebeebum23 · 22/01/2024 07:52

12st 13.5lbs this morning, so 1lb up since last week 😭 annoying because I was 12st 11.5lb on Friday.

I have to admit I haven't had the most sensible weekend (way too much bread!). Sick children and extra stress and tiredness have led to me being in "fuck it" mode (not an excuse but acknowledging my process). Back on it today as really don't want to be going back down any slippery slopes.

Hope everyone else has been more successful 🙏

W2: -3, 19st1
W3: -3, 18st12
GW: 14st10

Happy Scale predicts 5 stones lost for mid July at current rate of loss or mid August at 2lb a week, so not far off.

Going out for tea tonight. Not decided whether I’ll just have whatever I fancy though or whatever is good calories as they’re on the menu

HippyChickMama · 22/01/2024 08:21

I weighed myself on Thursday and was another 1lb down but my period started yesterday after a 36 day cycle (peri menopause) and I'm now the same weight as last week :(
Oh well, it hasn't gone up and that's the main thing, so I'm still on a mission to get back to 15st 3, my weight on Christmas Eve, before moving on to the next goal

SW: 17st 12
CW: 15st 9
TW: 10st 7

Motiv8ed · 22/01/2024 08:25

SW 212lbs
CW 201lbs
Size 20 and 5ft2

lost 3lbs this week, I’m really happy with that. My period is due this week so I’m hoping I will reach my mini goal of 200lbs by the 1st Feb but I’m not too sure.

Well done everyone!

Morred · 22/01/2024 08:51

Hi all! Some great progress going on here. Official weigh-in day for me (I weigh every day because I'm a control freak and put it on my spreadsheet 🤓).

SW (1 Jan 24) = 95.5kg
CW (22 Jan 24) = 92.8kg
TW (?) = 75kg

Weight lost so far = 2.7kg
Weight to go until next mini-goal (under 90kg) = 2.9kg

I'm falling into a pattern of doing OMAD (one meal a day) Monday and Tuesday when I work from the office - easier to get by on fruit tea and water than it is at home - eating to deficit target Wed-Fri and eating to a deficit (any deficit!) over the weekend. This seems to be working at the moment as a sustainable way of eating as I'll be in this for a long haul.

OkyDoke · 22/01/2024 08:56

Little gain for me this week, got a bit of a cold and kids being hard work so feeling sorry for myself. Need to pick it back up again. Gym tonight!

RunningKatie · 22/01/2024 09:07

SW: 211
CW: 207.8

I saw 207.2 on Fri but have now got a cold and feel rubbish, feeling a bit down about it but I have absolutely no reason to.
Really quietly pleased with it, cut right back on carbs and not had any crisps or alcohol.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 22/01/2024 09:51

Morning

SW 226lb

15/01. 224lb

22/01. 223lb

Only 1lb this week but fine with that as aiming for steady losses. Well done everyone, some real progress made again this week l.

I'm sure having a cold means your body wants to hang on to your fat reserves, as well as making you want to eating comforting things! The trick will be to get back on it rather than catastrophising that a gain one week means your whole weight-loss 'project' is over (I am really bad for doing this to myself). You can do it!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 22/01/2024 11:45

Get well soon @OkyDoke having a cold sucks. Take care of yourself, wrap up warm and eat whatever suits you.

Well done everyone, never worry about the scales going up as well as down. You're trying to create a calorie deficit and burn fat, the scales just really help you figure out if you're doing that (and at what rate).

Even if you have a rough day food wise and eat a little more than you wanted to and you get on the scales and you're a pound heavier it's not a big deal in the greater scheme of things. There's a few potential reasons the scales might have gone up; what ISN'T the cause is that you ate 3000 calories over your tdee and put a pound of fat on. Weight that isn't fat is basically irrelevant, don't stress about it and it'll come down on its own as you do burn the fat.

Get well soon @RunningKatie sorry to hear you've got a cold. You're right to be pleased with your progress, you worked for it.

@Morred I weigh every day because I'm a control freak and put it on my spreadsheet 🤓

I love a good spreadsheet too but whilst I weigh myself every day I only keep the highest and lowest of the week.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 22/01/2024 12:01

Hi there @HippyChickMama my lovely. You can't control what the scales say you can only control what you eat. You can and will see those numbers come back down again fast after your period.

BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh · 22/01/2024 21:07

I’m another 4lbs (1.8kg) down this week which brings my total since joining this thread to 8.5lb (3.8kg), and my overall loss to 4st 5lbs (27.7kg).

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 22/01/2024 22:24

wow splendid work @BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh 3.8kg in 3 weeks is a really strong trend. you must be feeling chuffed.🍻

Oh hi can i join? Im a bit late but just saw this thread linked in another about weightloss.

SW: 17.4 stone
TW: 10 stone

im aiming for 7lbs as each target milestone

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 22/01/2024 23:57

I've been doing waist measurements rather than weighing. Aiming to loose ten inches to start. 17 inches to the ultimate goal.

Ive lost half an inch this week, a total of 3.5 inches lost in total.

I have also finally found the scales in the cupboard of doom and stood on them...

Current weight 21 stone
Goal weight 11 stone

First goal to get to is 17 stone as that's where I was before my last baby. I'm hoping maybe I can do this by June sort of time... we'll see, everything and anything I loose is great.

owlyboo · 23/01/2024 07:53

Weigh in

SW 100kg
CW 95kg

That's a 5kg (11lb) loss in three weeks! Also hit my January target of 300,000 steps. Feels good to have been hitting my 10,000 step target or more.

Go get the week everyone!!
