It's me - Owl.

I lost access to my previous account so I cannot seem to find the old thread.

Shall we have a new one for 2024? Fresh start and all that?

I'll tag as many of us as I can recall!

@AgnesWickfield I agree with you on that, a 'quick recipes' LP book would be good! I hate cooking anyway so I do find a lot if hers time consuming. Now I'm quite used to the method I tend to use other books, modify dishes etc. I still love the roasting tin series for that.

Yay @OwlWhereIsYourTowel you're back, and well done! I'm not sure what I weight currently, I'm going entirely on look and feel which works better for me I find and currently I'm seeing more definition in my abs than I've seen in years and my face is slimmer too, also more energy, and my mood has skyrocketed recently so on the whole very happy.

LillianE · 28/04/2024 12:59

I've been reading and lurking for a while, all set to start tomorrow food and exercise wise (have spent the last week working on putting my phone down and getting to bed on time). I have about 30lbs to lose so I'm in it for the long haul.

Well done on staying on track for 6 weeks @OwlWhereIsYourTowel , congrats on the 18lbs loss!

OwlWhereIsYourTowel · 28/04/2024 14:52

@AgnesWickfield well I have discovered what her new venture costs! She is pairing people up with each other, so basically a WhatsApp group and on top of that she will offer one hour individually a week - for 'coaching'

3 month plan. And she's reducing her fees but they're still a rather jaw dropping £1800 a month! So over 5 grand for the 3 months!!!

OwlWhereIsYourTowel · 28/04/2024 14:53

@LillianE welcome! Good luck with it all!

And thanks but I've been SO hopeless for about a year so it's about time I pulled myself together so looking forward to getting back to posting

OwlWhereIsYourTowel · 28/04/2024 14:53

Hello @ElvenDreamer good to see you still here! That sounds very positive re the abs! How's the exercise going in general?

Wowzers! Lucky we have MN where we can support each other free of charge 😅

Ps I have just had my mid afternoon snack of monkey toast 😋

ElvenDreamer · 29/04/2024 11:29

Yup, think I'll be sticking with the books 🤣

Exercise is going well thanks Owl. I have a good routine now where I do short runs twice a week, 1 long run, a pilates class 1 day, and then try to just do a few minutes of pilates/body strength type exercises on at least 2 days. I've just booked myself in for a half marathon with a friend in the Autumn so I can really keep motivated.

OwlWhereIsYourTowel · 29/04/2024 20:45

@AgnesWickfield ooh I love the monkey toast! Delicious!

@ElvenDreamer sounds like you've got the fitness down to a tee! I've been a lot more active for the past 6 weeks or so. I do 3 or 4 spin classes a week and I swim on the days I don't do spin. I also try and have a walk most days and I'm considering some strength training

Today food .....

Homemade breakfast fruit crumble with greek yogurt and 1/2 sliced banana

Sourdough with quorn, hummus and tomato

Packet of pop chips
Piece of cheese

Mushroom pasta
Strawberries
Protein pudding

Pasta not quuitttteeee in the circle but meh - close enough!

OwlWhereIsYourTowel · 30/04/2024 20:46

Evening!

Food times for today!

Breakfast berry crumble with Greek yogurt

German rye roll with quorn, tomatoes and hummus

Protein yogurt + strawberries

Tofu in a sticky soy, lime and honey sauce with quinoa, black rice and veg

5 tru fruit things (these are frozen raspberries covered in dark chocolate)

Also did a spin class and 8k steps today

OwlWhereIsYourTowel · 02/05/2024 12:06

Morning!

How are we all?

I've started the day with a protein shake for breakfast. Just a scoop of mint chocolate protein powder in oat milk

Think it'll be marinated tofu with quinoa for lunch as both in fridge that need eating up today. I marinate the tofu in lime juice, light soy, apple cider vinegar, honey and a little olive oil and it's delicious when added to tofu that's been tossed in a little cornflour and smoked paprika. Although I understand this may not rock the world of anyone not a vegan Grin

OwlWhereIsYourTowel · 02/05/2024 12:09

Oh and I've done a swimming session too. May consider a walk this afternoon if I can summon up the energy

I have a target that I'm working towards. It's our 10th wedding anniversary this year so we've booked the Seychelles in November which feels totally indulgent right now! Anyway I categorically do not want to go there feeling overweight and frumpy so giving myself lots of time to work slowly towards getting shot of this teaming couple of stone

ElvenDreamer · 02/05/2024 17:45

That sounds like a good day Owl.
My food today:
Porridge with blueberries.
2 nakd bars and a handful of almonds (post run snack, I was starving!)
Hard boiled eggs, salad bits, a couple of oatcakes with cheese.
There is an Italien beef stew waiting for me this evening. (Beef, peppers, tomatos, olives. New potatoes on the side for the rest of the family.)

Rent: 6.5 k run. Slow pace, on trails, so lots of hard work bits.

OwlWhereIsYourTowel · 06/05/2024 10:56

Hi @ElvenDreamer - doing really well there! Out of interest I tried a run on a treadmill the other day - I've not run in ten years so was curious to see how I'd get on

Pretty badly 😝 I can do 4 mins at 6.5 pace and was puffing a bit let's say! It was after a spin class though (excuses) but I'm considering couch to 5k. I last did that a decade ago and managed a 5k park run in 36 minutes so I'm aiming for that again.

I've now lost 21lbs so I'm feeling firmly back in the game - next official weigh in is Friday which marks 8 weeks back

Starting today with my home made breakfast berry crumble and Greek yogurt

HarryJoy · 21/05/2024 16:58

Hi all 👋I'm starting the method today.

I followed her method before to lose baby weight after my first was born, it worked back then so I hope it works again! I've since had my second child and now have 2 stone to lose. I've finished breastfeeding and mentally I'm in the headspace where I now feel ready to get my weight down but in a sustainable way.

As of today I'm 11st 0lbs. I'll weigh myself again in a fortnight's time.

I don't want to overwhelm myself. So I'm going to start slowly, set a couple of new habits, and then once those are established I can then add another new habit, etc.

So my new habits for this week are:

  1. Regular meal times - 3 x meals and 2 x snacks - I've got into the habit of skipping meals and then binging on choc.
  2. Getting to bed at a reasonable time to try and lessen the impact of DC2's ongoing night time wake ups.

Wish me luck!

AgnesWickfield · 21/05/2024 18:01

Hello @HarryJoy and good luck!

I started at 10st13 (tbf could have been 11 ;)) Am now 10st8, goal weight is somewhere around the 10st3/ 10st5 mark so I'm.feeling pretty pleased so far.

mothandmoon · 30/06/2024 10:14

I know the thread is quiet but I'm starting tomorrow so thought I'd pop in and say hello 👋
I have about 20lbs to lose but more importantly, I just want to be in better shape, increase my energy levels and just generally feel more in control of my habits. Just those 3 little things 😅

ElvenDreamer · 05/07/2024 21:36

Hi @mothandmoon , how's it going so far? Your goals are similar to mine! I'm now down to just over 10 stone so I'm so close to where I want to be.

RolyPolyBatFacedGirll · 05/07/2024 21:54

Hello all!

How are we doing on the world's slowest moving thread?

Astonishingly I managed to stick to the plan! Wonders will never cease. I'm currently 3 stone 1lb down with another stone to go. Have attached a delightful before pic and where I currently am - the sequins are because I'm trying out potential Taylor Swift outfits!

AgnesWickfield · 06/07/2024 08:41

That's amazing and you look fabulous @RolyPolyBatFacedGirl Congrats!

I'm at 10 st 6lb from about 1/4lb under 11st which I'm.very happy with. I've done LP during the day but eaten whatever my family is eating at dinner, including pasta and loads of carbs, so it's been gradual but I'm pleased and hoping to lose another lb or two before my holiday next month.

DaysofHoney · 22/07/2024 12:06

Hi all!!

think I was on the original LP chat ages ago. Had loads of success. I’m supporting my dad through radiotherapy over the next few weeks and I need to ensure I stay on track but I’m short of time. Also, my LP books are currently in storage!

Can anyone please advise/remind me of a quick and easy Bircher muesli recipe, the amount of oats/oatbran for porridge, fruits that are okay? Also any quick/easy lunches and dinners (even better if they are semi ready prepped - eg at m&s or similar).

Thanks so much

mothandmoon · 23/07/2024 13:59

Hello all! Hope everyone is keeping well.

@ElvenDreamer I didn't get started that week - we had surprise visitors, and I gave them a tour of our local eateries 😅I've started in earnest this week, and feeling good so far - even just a couple of days in my energy levels throughout the day seem better.

@RolyPolyBatFacedGirl Congratulations, that's so impressive! And you look fantastic, hope you enjoyed Taylor!

Sounds like you are making great progress too @AgnesWickfield 💪

@DaysofHoney Hope all goes well for Dad, and that you are able to find time to mind yourself as you support him 💗 I'm new to the method, so still figuring out recipes etc. but I have the book to hand if you are looking for recipes....

The base for the bircher seems to be 150g low fat Greek yoghurt and 2 tbsps of oat bran. A simple one would be apple (1), cinnamon and walnuts (6). The smoothies are very handy as well, I've been buying frozen berries etc. Can add low fat yoghurt and oat bran to those too

Lots of quick and easy recipes with eggs, I had messy eggs for lunch (2 eggs, 1/2 chilli, 1/2 pepper, cherry tomatoes and a slice of wholegrain toast).

Hope that's of some help x

ElvenDreamer · 26/08/2024 20:09

@Dufflet this is the newest of the Louise Parker method threads. Try on here. We're slow responders but there are people here!

Dufflet · 27/08/2024 07:02

@ElvenDreamer thank you so much! I'm so happy to have found your "slowest moving thread" 😆 I'm in week 2 of LP, been wanting to do it for years, but then realised how much weight I'd put on and was a bit shocked at myself and decided enough was enough! I was feeling quite alone in it all so happy to find others doing it too

Katrinawaves · 02/11/2024 18:11

I fell off the wagon and can see this thread has gone a bit quiet. I’m planning to get back on the horse again tomorrow though if I can tempt anyone over to a brand shiny new thread to get camera ready for Christmas?
