It's me - Owl.

I lost access to my previous account so I cannot seem to find the old thread.

Shall we have a new one for 2024? Fresh start and all that?

I'll tag as many of us as I can recall!

Happy new year everyone.

I have not exercised, I have been cleaning and changing my kitchen around. I also did a shop for fresh veg and have meal planned for the week.

I'm really excited to get back on top of it all.

Runnr · 01/01/2024 18:25

Happy new year!

I was on the old thread briefly and then definitely was out of the circle over Christmas and new year. Trying to get back on it and work with what I’ve got in the house.

Food today:
Scrambled eggs with cherry tomatoes and a slice of “good” bread
large pitta with tahini and tzatziki and 2 satsumas
monkey toast

I’ve not really had a lot to eat today, I’ve just not been that hungry. I had planned salmon to eat tonight but I just am not feeling it. I’ve been very sedentary today so maybe that’s why.

Rent: dog walk and some stretching

RolyPolyBatFacedGirl · 01/01/2024 20:14

Evening all

I had a salad for dinner. Well I say salad.: it was quite substantial. Leaves, Wensleydale, pecans, hummus, pear followed by a green apple and peanut butter

I was at the gym for 6am, came home to carrot cake bircher. Did get a skinny latte on the way home as my travel coffee cup tasted like the dishwasher 🤮. I know she says no lattes but you're allowed one skinny cappuccino a day so what's the difference?

Going to aim for:

S. Peanut butter and apple
L. Messy eggs on a slice of rye
S. Cheese and a satsuma
D. Chicken and chorizo stew

Weighed today at 12st 2 and a half. Determined to stick in the circle (apart from a weekend away in Paris in a few weeks) and lose a stone in transformation stage.

JanyewithaY · 02/01/2024 10:44

Morning all, sounds like lots of people had a good, intentional start yesterday.

Hope the return to circle after NYE went well @thinksalot

I decluttered the bathroom yesterday and am going to pick up a little plant to complete the transformation. I made time for a skincare/bedtime routine last night, and silly as it sounds, I felt much more relaxed getting into bed last night. I'm back to work tomorrow and determined to stick to that routine, even when time gets tighter.

I ate well yesterday, made soup that will do again today and have picked out a few recipes to try out this week. That tabbouleh sounds delicious @RolyPolyBatFacedGirl

Today, I want to work on fitting in some exercise - it hasn't stopped raining here in 2 days now so no walk yesterday.

Hope the day goes well for everyone

ElvenDreamer · 02/01/2024 12:24

Hi all, yesterday finished OK for me, all on plan, although that meant picking my Thai curry off the white basmati hubby had served it on and having an extra small snack. (He hears 'no rice please' and translates it as 'have a small portion of everything' so I end up hungry after extracting the rice!) Did some pilates in the evening.

Today so far:
Yogurt/bran/seeds etc. This is becoming my easy go to.
A nakd bar and a few strawberries.
Sausage casserole.

Am already 7000 steps to the good by midday due to having a load of errands to do.

That recipe looks really tasty @RolyPolyBatFacedGirl , thanks for sharing the link. I love salads etc with pomegranate seeds.

@JanyewithaY I've started a new bedtime skincare routine too, after requesting some stuff for Christmas. Have now been doing that along with some face yoga every evening since Christmas day and it's really helping my general routine as evenings are habitually my danger area for snaxcidents. This takes my focus on to something else. I read somewhere that the best way to properly break a bad habit is to actually replace it with a new habit so fingers crossed!

Runnr · 02/01/2024 20:24

That salad looks lovely @RolyPolyBatFacedGirl, I think I will give it a go!

Today was mixed for me. I forgot that I was supposed to be back in the circle and ordered chips in the canteen with my lunch, but I didn’t eat them all so I suppose that is something…I’m also at 17,000+ steps today.

Food:
Turkish eggs with pitta
Tortilla wrap with grilled chicken, salad, chips
Nakd bar
At a work thing so picked on what looked like it would be in the circle - chicken, halloumi and salad

Rent: 5km run and half an hour of yoga

ThinksALot · 02/01/2024 20:31

Evening,

It sounds like everyone is doing well in getting back on it.

I'm back in the circle after NYE and batch cooked loads today.

B: Turkish scramble
S: 1/2 wholemeal pitta pizza snack
L: Spiced carrot and lentil soup
S: Hot chocolate from the book (was quite happy with this version)
D: Ruby quinoa and chicken (DH loved this one too).

Low on the steps today - only around 5,000 - it's been non-stop raining here.

Next challenge is to start fitting in some regular exercise and to avoid my DS's birthday cake tomorrow! We're going to TGIs for lunch but I'm planning on having a steak and salad to stay as close to the circle as possible!

PlantsFallLikeDominoes · 03/01/2024 07:44

Morning

Well done fellow waddlers.

I've just got back from the gym, stayed on track all day yesterday although slept like crap! I'm out for lunch and dinner today, will stay on plan as much as possible, no drinks and no pudding.

Plan is:

B - eggs
S - smoked makeral pate with sugar snaps
L - chicken cob
S - apple and peanut butter
D - small steak and salad.

JanyewithaY · 03/01/2024 13:34

Afternoon, hope everyone's Wednesday is going well.

I tried the Pizza Chicken Traybake last night for dinner and it was a hit, handy for a busy night too. Made the tuna salad for my lunch in work, and it was tasty so I'm happy to have those 2 new recipes.

We got out for a long beach walk yesterday, at the kids' pace so not too hectic but it was more than I managed the day before with all the rain!

ElvenDreamer · 03/01/2024 18:52

Hi folks.
@PlantsFallLikeDominoes that mackerel with sugar snaps is one of my favourites, you've reminded me to make it again soon!

Today:
Yoghurt, bran, seeds and nuts.
Nakd bar.
Eggs on toast.
Cheese and melon on oat cakes.
Chicken and green veg.

Rent: pilates

Yesterday ended with a bit too much food in the evening, a power cut having thrown me utterly so I ended up just angry grazing on cheese. Need to make sure I don't do that again tonight!

ElvenDreamer · 03/01/2024 20:28

Whoops, just fell foul of remembering we still had Christmas cake. Just a step in the dance, it's just a step...back in the circle tomorrow.

ThinksALot · 03/01/2024 22:18

Evening,

How did you get on with your meals out @PlantsFallLikeDominoes ?

I was eyeing up the pizza bake recipe for next week, so will give that a go too @JanyewithaY

@ElvenDreamer- I gifted the last of our Christmas cake to my parents this morning. It's such a shame, as it's home made and delicious but I couldn't risk it being there, particularly now there's birthday cake in the house too.

I've had a really good day, particularly considering it's DS's birthday and we went out for lunch (plus aforementioned cake which I've avoided):

B: fluffy pancakes (I didn't find these filling enough - so will be unlikely to bother with them again)
S: feta and spinach egg soufflé
L: Steak and salad (can't believe I passed on the chips)!
S: chicken and cheese
D: Spiced carrot and red lentil soup

14.7k steps and I did workout no 1 for the first time with my youngest DS doing it too (or really getting in the way). It was blimmin harder than I thought and I'd been putting it off as I knew it would be hard but I'm glad I've done it!

Runnr · 04/01/2024 07:53

@ElvenDreamer if it makes you feel any better, i mainlined some crackers at my desk yesterday afternoon. I was so hungry.

I am really struggling with getting up early at the moment, that’s usually my preferred time to exercise and I have a small niggle / potential injury that meant I decided to stay in bed this morning instead of go out and run. I’m seeing the physio after work so hopefully that sorts me out.

Yesterday’s food:
Turkish eggs, pitta
2 satsumas
Chicken salad and a Nakd bar as was still hungry
7 water biscuits
Protein shake (half a banana, frozen spinach, protein powder and soya milk) + a large pitta with tzatziki and tahini

Rent: weights session in the gym. I definitely need to get into the routine of doing this first thing as by the time I had walked the dog and got home from the gym it was quite late, I was hungry and I couldn’t be bothered with cooking. Also by the time I got back from walking the dog part of me couldn’t be bothered to head back out again.

PlantsFallLikeDominoes · 04/01/2024 08:19

Elven, it's lovely. First time I made it and definitely keeping it on my rota! I gave the last bit of my Christmas cake to my nan. I would be eating it if it was in the house.

@ThinksALot I did well. No chips! No fizzy drinks, had a chicken and bacon salad and then a steak with the chips swapped to an extra side salad portion. I did have a pudding. It was worth it. Not going to beat myself up about it. Well done on withstanding the cake your end.

Can someone post the pizza tray recipe please? I've been looking for something to replace my usual friday night pizza and gin for tea.

Runnr · 04/01/2024 18:01

Well done on the no chips @PlantsFallLikeDominoes

Today’s food:
Scrambled eggs with tomatoes, spinach and “good” bread topped with a little cream cheese
Pitta with tzatziki and tahini
4 oatcakes with peanut butter
Mediterranean sausage with a salad made from parsley, mint, pepper and cucumber. Topped with tzatziki.
Strawberries.

Rent: not done any formal exercise, tender after my physio appt this evening. Step count is currently at 7,500+.

PlantsFallLikeDominoes · 04/01/2024 20:05

Thanks for the recipe

B, oat, natural yoghurt and tsp of peanut butter smoothie
S, Satsuma and nuts
L, two scrambled eggs in a wholemeal pitta
D, pesto salmon with dressed in evo and lemon juice broccoli.

No exercise, shit step count, sat at my desk all day. Currently led on exercise mat doing a few pilates core exercises but not enough to count as rent. Missed out on a snack. It's been a mentally busy day. Early night and back to the gym tomorrow.

PlantsFallLikeDominoes · 05/01/2024 07:46

Weighed this morning and have lost 4lbs! Now 11st 12! Probably just water weight but I think my stomach looks a bit flatter!

Been to the gym, now eating two scrambled eggs in a wholemeal pitta wiith a coffee.

MisshapenHat · 05/01/2024 16:13

@PlantsFallLikeDominoes YES! That's great news. Water weight or not, LPM really does work. Keep it up!

MisshapenHat · 05/01/2024 16:20

(Waves shyly from across the Atlantic.)

I just got back from a week at my in-laws. I've had to start a bland diet for gastritis, which really limited what I could eat. Let's just say I haven't had that much custard or mashed potatoes in a very long time.

Now I'm back in the circle (thankfully and happily) and looking at what I can make this week for food. Will probably make myself a vegetable turkey stew from a gastritis cookbook, maybe an egg and avocado salad, and something with that bag of lentils I bought but never used.

I have no idea what I'll eat today as we haven't been to the shop (or made the list), but for bfast, it will probably be almond butter on wholemeal toast.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful beginning of 2024.

ThinksALot · 05/01/2024 20:13

Hi All,

Well done on your weight loss @PlantsFallLikeDominoes

Sorry to hear you're struggling with gastritis @MisshapenHat. I had a diverticulitis flare up just before xmas and was in agony - I hope your symptoms get better soon.

I completely forgot to post yesterday's food but I had a reasonably good day:

B: vanilla oatbran porridge
S: feta and spinach egg souffle
L: red lentil and carrot soup
S: wholemeal pitta pizzas (I did have more than I should have here though - it was tasty)!
D: Spring chicken stew (not my fav recipe)

I also walked over 14,000 steps (many in the rain) and hit my 70,000 step target for the week!

I weighed in this morning and I've lost 4lb - not too shabby for my first week which included NYE! So I'm pleased.

Today has been mixed, I met a friend for brekkie and I didn't make the best choices but the rest of the day has been okay:

B: scrambled egg on toast and 1 x bacon (here's the bad bit: a cranberry juice and hot chocolate)
L: red lentil and carrot soup
S: Oatcakes and hummus
D: bolognese with courgetti

Have walked 10k too.

Next week, I'm starting a women-only fitness group on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as I'm not great at motivating myself to exercise at home!

PlantsFallLikeDominoes · 05/01/2024 20:30

Glad you're feeling better mishapen!

Well done on your 4lbs thinksalot.

B, two scrambled eggs in a wholemeal pitta.
S. Oat and yoghurt smoothie
L, tuna, feta and olive salad
S, 3 oat cakes with cheese and apple
D, a shit freezer breadcrumbed chicken breast in the airfryer and 3 g&ts.

Did gym it this morning. On about 6 k ish steps. Next week I'm upping my steps and keeping the early morning gym sessions.
