@Comedycook That's what it feels like. Eating when hungry, but no gnawing hunger or ability to overeat.

You might save a bit of money on food to alleviate the guilt!! 😉

Yes I did think perhaps the saving on food will help cancel out some of the cost 😂

AhBiscuits · 07/11/2023 20:04

Also, I bet you have some clothes in your wardrobe that no longer fit. You'll be able to wear them again and save money.

Comedycook · 07/11/2023 20:21

Oh so many clothes!

OhpoorMe · 07/11/2023 20:25

Does it hurt?

OhpoorMe · 07/11/2023 20:25

Does it hurt?

Not at all, the needle is so tiny and thin, about 5mm long and like a hair.
I'm not great with needles and I genuinely didn't feel it.

Gingerlygreen · 07/11/2023 20:37

@Comedycook You shouldn't feel guilty, how often do you spend money on yourself?
As someone else said you'll be saving on food plus it's not forever.

I did have a pang of guilt but then reminded myself how being a healthy weight will be so much better for me and my family, I hate being the fattest Mum in the class and not joining in when my kids are playing physical games plus I wanna look great in a strappy top next summer 😁

How much is the maintenance dose? I wasn't aware there was actually one, I just assumed we continue taking 2.7 until we naturally plateau and stay on that forever.
I've clearly not paid any attention to the end goal, probably because I can't imagine ever getting there

Im no expert but I believe the idea is you get to your goal weight and maintain that for a bit then gradually you taper off. I think the idea is you take the lowest dose possible whilst still being able to maintain a healthy bmi.

Yes you make some good points!

Borntobedifferent · 08/11/2023 02:57

Another newbie here.

Did my first injection at about 7pm last night.

As others have said, the needle is so thin I wasn't even sure it was in at first !

I've got a few bits in just incase I feel sick such as crackers etc and then some protein bars and drinks if I struggle to eat.

I joined a FB group but everyone on there seems to be terribly ill on it and it made me feel ill just thinking about it. The stuff I've read on Reddit has been more positive so fingers crossed

Yes I'm already wondering if I could stay on 0.25 as I haven't eaten any sweet stuff, bar a couple of digestive biscuits, since I had the first dose on Friday. I did feel a bit hungrier today and I have seen others comment that the appetite suppressant effects wear off before the week is out. So maybe that's why we need to up the doses.

I'm still marvelling at the fact I'm not snacking. I used to snack when I wasn't physically hungry so it can't just be appetite suppressing.

Yes you can stay on the dose for as long as it is working for you. I was on .25 for several weeks before I went to .5 and then to .75.

I'm on .5 after being as high as 1.5. Supply here in Australia is unlikely to be restored until Dec 24 so I am on the lowest dose that keeps my BGL good and I am not gaining weight.

I joined a FB group too and it is literally just full of people throwing up and having terrible stomach pain, very off putting!
I was wondering if the bad symptoms are sometimes a result of people overeating or eating the wrong foods.

RachBakesCakes · 08/11/2023 06:18

Morning all, had my first injection yesterday & wasn't expecting anything to happen very quickly. However, this morning I've woken up not hungry at all. I'm usually starving when I wake up & hoover down some toast & a few biscuits so this is very surprising!

Thought I'd have an Aldi protein yoghurt as I don't want to skip meals but I've only eaten half, something I never do. What is this sorcery??

Cuzco · 08/11/2023 07:23

Reading with interest because I am seriously considering this.

To those who have increased dosage - is that because your body gets used to it and the low dose is no longer effective, or is it because you want to accelerate the speed of weight loss.

I am nervous, but having lost and but back on 20kg, I need to do something differently.

notabletocope · 08/11/2023 08:15

I'm so shocked that in my first week I've lost 10lbs! I am huge though and starting weight was 19st 6lb and 5'6 so I think that makes a difference because there's so much to lose. I was also worried I hadn't done my first dose properly.

I've not had any cravings. I eat when I'm hungry to not be hungry and then that's it, it's just silence which is an absolute revelation.

Side effects have been urgency for the loo which has been challenging at work but I'm really hoping that settles.

Gingerlygreen · 08/11/2023 08:18

I've also woken up and aren't hungry, the effects started within a few hours of taking my first jab yesterday.

It feels a bit like mild morning sickness, like a queasiness and no desire to eat, I do keep thinking about food but there's no hunger there, I'm hoping over time the food thoughts will go too, I've spent years constantly thinking about and then having food so it's going to take a while for my brain to stop.

The proper dose is 2.4, but you start on 0.25 to titrate up and get your body used to it.

Helene2019 · 08/11/2023 10:43

Wow@notabletocope amazing week 1 results! I agree love the term "food noise" I saw on this thread. Which doesn't seem to happen anymore for myself on wegovy. I think it supports making better food choices! I think digestive affects should lesson as the body gets used to the medication but also change in food consumption.

LovelaceBiggWither · 08/11/2023 11:30

Some people say they can control their symptoms by eating carefully and avoiding trigger foods. I still vomit out of the blue with absolutely no identifiable triggers. It's worth keeping a food diary in case you can figure out what is causing nausea or vomiting.

How do you cope with this? It really puts me off as I have a job where randomly throwing up would be a tad problematic 😂

OhSmitty · 08/11/2023 14:43

Can I join? I'm on a big health kick and desperately need to lose weight, it seems disingenuous to join a normal WL thread when I'm on medication to help.
I'm on tablets rather than the jab (cheaper) and wow! They are working an absolute treat, no hunger, lots of energy. I'm 9lbs down in 1.5 weeks.

Gingerlygreen · 08/11/2023 14:50

@OhSmitty That's a great loss, you must be feeling better already, I didn't realise there was a tablet form

OhSmitty · 08/11/2023 14:56

It's not Wegovy, but a similar prescription medication which suppresses the appetite and gives energy. I went to a private WL clinic and was prescribed by a nurse. They are also having supply issues of the jabs so I thought I'd try the tablets

Gingerlygreen · 08/11/2023 15:50

It sounds like it's giving you the same results which is great, I've just read that they might have a tablet form by the end of the year which would be good, it'd help the supply issues, give people the choice and hopefully be cheaper.

Can I ask what it's called please?
