I haven’t told anyone I’m using it either…. I think I’ve started and failed soooo many diets over the years nobody would believe I could stick to anything anyway….

@AhBiscuits i was really nervous too and actually delayed doing it for five days…. Then wished I’d just got on and done it sooner.

@Mybestusername sounds like a good start so far!

Weigh In Update

Age: 39
Height 5'5"
SW: 13stone
CW: 12st10lbs

Week 1: -4lbs

I am very happy with that loss this week. I've had no side effects at all and had appetite suppression from day 1. I will take my second 0.25 dose this evening.

How has everyone else got on in their first week?

Superlambaanana · 07/11/2023 08:14

I’m also in my first week - first 0.25 on Friday so on day 4 now. I’m hoping to lose 3 stones - which seemed so completely unachievable before that I’d never even contemplated it until now.

I am slightly concerned about the supply issues and the fact that it seems the weight goes straight back on as soon as you stop taking it. The idea of the manufacturer seems to be it is a lifelong drug, but the price makes that seem impossible.

I was an emotional eater and was (am?) very addicted to sweet, sugary things. I’d eat a large portion at mealtimes (in the hope that would be enough to fill me up) and then go on to eat mounds of chocolate, cake, biscuits, ice cream - whatever - literally until I couldn’t physically manage anymore. And then I’d feel sad I couldn’t eat anymore.

I’m only in the first few days of this, but the sugar cravings have already disappeared completely. Which is amazing.

Given that I wasn’t actually hungry most of the time when I was eating before, I think there must be something more than just appetite suppressing going on here. Lots of people seem to agree that it also suppresses ‘food noise’ which is what I’m finding.

So far, this is a miracle for me.

AhBiscuits · 07/11/2023 08:30

I'm also very worried about keeping it off Superlambaanana but have decided that's a problem for tomorrow, I need to get 3 stone off first.

RachBakesCakes · 07/11/2023 10:15

I've just received my first pen & can't wait to get started!

Well done everyone who has lost weight so far, it's really reassuring to hear that it is working for yous & that the cravings have been cut down. I think about food non stop usually so it will be refreshing to have some space in my brain for once.

Lovesthebeach · 07/11/2023 10:30

@Superlambaanana ive definitely found I’ve been wanting sweet stuff far far less over the past week. If I have had something sweet I’ve stopped after a couple of biscuits for example… whereas before I’d eat the whole pack!
I Love food, love eating and loooove sugar…. So I’m finding it genuinely amazing that these feelings have reduced… especially on such a small dose…

The ongoing cost and how realistic it is for me to continue this long term is a concern… but I’ve decided to ignore that for now lol!!

Lovesthebeach · 07/11/2023 10:30

Also I’m finding it so helpful to read about everyone’s experiences so far… it’s really reassuring and also makes me feel less alone…

Lovesthebeach · 07/11/2023 10:37

Well done @Shewhobecamethesun brilliant first week!
I haven’t weighed myself yet.. it’s taking a lot of willpower not to haha

Poppie1234 · 07/11/2023 11:24

Hi Everyone.

I've been using Ozempic since September. First month 0.25mg and second month 0.5 ( i brought the 0.25 pen and double dosed)
At the start i was 14 stone 7 and i am 5ft 4in. Very overweight!
I am now 13st 10lb.

This week i am switching to wegovy.. I managed to get it from Asda Doctor at £169. I've been prescribed the 1mg pen.
Does anyone know if you can count clicks? So instead of taking 1mg you in fact only do 0.5mg?

Nobody knows i am doing this... but i am so fed up with looking the way i do.
I have a fitbit and i find that really helps me stay on track.

Shewhobecamethesun · 07/11/2023 12:28

I also worry about how I am going to manage long term. I know I can afford it this until July but after then I just don't know. Hoping with diet and exercise I can keep whatever I've lost off on my own. £300 a month is a LOT indefinitely.
I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

Rufeysmum · 07/11/2023 14:37

That’s good. I lost nothing my first week and neither has it affected my appetite. Took second injection last night.

Kickstartplease · 07/11/2023 16:40

I have taken my first injection this afternoon - a bit nervous but hoping for results.
I walk for my job (dog walker) but also ran for the first time in ages yesterday. Trying to use this as a boost to get started & hoping that if I get back into regular exercise that I will be able to stick with it & not put it back on.
I am 49, perimenopausal & broke my leg badly 3 years ago, which seemed to be the final straw for my weight gain.
I am 5ft 10
And have between 30kg - 50kg to lose according to BMI calculator
Sorry I'll just get the stones (scary figures)
4st 7lbs- 7st 8lbs
Good luck to everyone

bonzaitree · 07/11/2023 16:42

I took my first dose yesterday. Nice to see a non-judgmental thread I can follow! Hoping to lose theee stone (although I don’t weigh myself!)

There are some jeans I want to get into. Maybe I’ll start weighing after that happens?

bonzaitree · 07/11/2023 16:46

Re the cost- i think (hope!!) it will come down over time.

for me, the maintenance dose is affordable thank god.

How much is the maintenance dose? I wasn't aware there was actually one, I just assumed we continue taking 2.7 until we naturally plateau and stay on that forever.
I've clearly not paid any attention to the end goal, probably because I can't imagine ever getting there

Shewhobecamethesun · 07/11/2023 16:50

Sorry its 2.4 not 2.7 the max dose

Gingerlygreen · 07/11/2023 17:43

Hi everyone,
Can I join too.

I took my first .25 dose today, it seems I was lucky to get it, I decided to give it a go on Sunday night so ordered it from Asda and it was delivered today but now showing out of stock.

I'm 5'7 and 16st 4 and want to lost 5 stones.
I did try Ozempic last year but only lasted a month because the diarrhoea was awful, I couldn't risk not being near a toilet. I'm hoping Wegovy won't give me the same side effects as I really need to lose weight.

tarziew · 07/11/2023 17:53

It’s exactly the same drug so you will probably get the same side effects. But try to stick with it, they do pass after your body adjusts.

EweCee · 07/11/2023 18:10

I’m on my first week of the 0.5 injection and it’s working so well for me, do I even need to increase doses each month? I almost regret moving to the 0.5 but had already bought it - I lost 1st in the first month just on the 0.25 injection and lost more this week too. I am also sticking to 1200 calories a day but sometimes don’t get near that - love the lack of food noise! Does anyone stay on the lower doses do you think?

Superlambaanana · 07/11/2023 18:34

Yes I'm already wondering if I could stay on 0.25 as I haven't eaten any sweet stuff, bar a couple of digestive biscuits, since I had the first dose on Friday. I did feel a bit hungrier today and I have seen others comment that the appetite suppressant effects wear off before the week is out. So maybe that's why we need to up the doses.

I'm still marvelling at the fact I'm not snacking. I used to snack when I wasn't physically hungry so it can't just be appetite suppressing.

Gingerlygreen · 07/11/2023 18:48

Ah OK, I'd read that Ozempic was for those with type 2 diabetes and Wegovy for weight loss so hoped it might be slightly different.

Last time it was during the summer so I was out more, the final straw was when I suddenly needed the toilet while I was out with my children and there were no toilets nearby so we had to go home early.
At least with winter ahead I can hibernate other than the school run so won't be far from the loo.

Have you had more side effects with 0.5?

I've read some pharmacies wont let you stay on the lower dose. I wonder if your body gets used to it.

EweCee · 07/11/2023 18:55

@Tailfeather no side effects on the 0.5 barring constipation! First 4 days of the 0.25 I had diarrhoea, nausea etc but that subsided - however, I have cut out all rich complex foods from my diet as that is a trigger for diarrhoea and nausea.

tarziew · 07/11/2023 19:14

Ozempic and Wegovy are the same ingredient (semaglutide) but in bigger doses for weight loss.

I did it for two months earlier this year and the side effects disappeared once my body got used to it. Perseverance is key (unless your side effects are debilitating of course).

Comedycook · 07/11/2023 19:32

So tempted...I keep filling out the online form then chickening out! I can afford it but feel so guilty about the money! We are having home renovations and it's Christmas soon. I'm so fed up of my food obsession though....I think about food constantly. It's so tiresome.. I remember having flu a while ago and after I recovered I was really meh about food...nothing tempted me, I'd get hungry, eat to get rid of the hunger and then stop. I wish I always felt like that.
