@OhSmitty what an epic loss in such a short space of time!!! Bloody amazing!

@Gingerlygreen i hope your appt goes well tomorrow x

@AhBiscuits your weight loss is going so well. Are you pleased? Soo close to that next stone bracket! I’m glad I’ve moved up to 0.5 it’s defo helped me.

sorry if I’ve missed replying to people it’s hard to keep up! Hope everyone has had a good Monday!

AhBiscuits · 04/12/2023 19:03

They're talking about Ozempic on One Show right now.

Ah I’m at work so I can’t watch. What are they saying??

AhBiscuits · 04/12/2023 20:27

Really pleased thanks @Lovesthebeach
I've had a few big social events and that normally wipes out any good work I've put in during the week. I can't remember the last time I had 3 good losses in a row. I'm feeling optimistic.

Sharon Osborne was on the one show talking about taking it. They mentioned supply issues. They were talking about the problem with it being prescribed online, people aren't given enough support to make lifestyle changes etc. I don't doubt that there are some that just take it with no real thought or research. I bet the majority are more like us on here, and understand that a healthy diet and change of lifestyle is necessary for long term success.

EatingTillIDie · 04/12/2023 21:46

Pleased to report that even though I felt starving enough to pile a bowl full of veggie noodles at dinner, I ate less than half of them before I thought, meh, had enough now.

This is sorcery! I would normally eat 3 times that portion without breaking a sweat. I can't recall leaving food on my plate in living memory.

EatingTillIDie · 04/12/2023 21:48

Oops got my BMI wrong. Make that 42 :(

Lovesthebeach · 05/12/2023 08:19

@EatingTillIDie it is the most surreal feeling isn’t it! It is such a weird feeling getting half way through and just not wanting the rest!!
Don’t worry about your bmi, I bet it won’t be long before it’s in the 30’s I’m sure ☺️

@AhBiscuits I agree with you, it seems like everyone on this thread is of a similar mindset and are using it as a tool to help make better choices etc. I really wish I’d started taking it sooner….. without being dramatic it actually feels quite life changing….

Gingerlygreen · 05/12/2023 14:11

I've had my first weigh in today (I'm doing it once a month) and have lost 11lbs in my first 4 weeks, I'm really pleased with that and hope to continue losing 7-10lbs a month.
I'm going to take my first 0.5 later on today.

I've also been given the all clear at the breast clinic which is a huge relief, I've got no idea why there's puckering but it's nothing sinister.
It's given me extra motivation to lose weight too, I've been thinking the worst and terrified of leaving my kids who are still young and now I'm determined to get to a healthy weight and start looking after myself so I can be around as long as possible.

FiveCows · 05/12/2023 17:33

Amazing @Gingerlygreen - my month is up on Thursday and I’ve lost 8 lbs so far - which I am pleased with - feeling more comfortable and my clothes fit better.
My 0.5 arrived today - hoping to stay on that for a little while - a few months at least - to avoid the price hike to the next dose! I have been lucky and had hardly any side effects so far.

221BBakerSt · 05/12/2023 17:52

@Gingerlygreen I am so pleased you’ve had positive news!

My appetite is absolutely non existent right now, even though it’s TOTM…I’ve forced some chicken and grapes down just now but ate nothing all day; will have another pint of electrolyte water but I basically just want to sleep. Maybe I’m coming down with something.

Gingerlygreen · 05/12/2023 17:56

@FiveCows Well done, that's a great loss, nice that you're noticing it in your clothes too, I don't feel any different yet but I've got 4 stone to go so I don't expect my clothes to feel better for at least another stone.

With the pens I've read that some people buy the higher dose and spare needles then administer half the amount to make it last longer, I don't know how that works with the pharmacies though because they expect an order monthly and I'd worry they wouldn't prescribe it with a longer gap.

Gingerlygreen · 05/12/2023 18:02

@221BBakerSt Thank you!

It's good that the 0.25 is working so well for you, if you just feel like sleeping then go and have an early night and hopefully you'll wake up tomorrow feeling much better

Helene2019 · 05/12/2023 19:32

@Gingerlygreen glad the clinic went well today.

@Lovesthebeach - I agree, truely life changing. Can't believe I might make it out of the obese BMI category soon!

Weigh In Update

Age: 39
Height 5'5"
SW: 13.1stone
CW: 12st6.2bs

0.25mg
Week 1: -4lbs
Week 2: -0.5lbs
Week 3: -2lbs
Week 4: -1lb

0.5mg
Week 5: -0.5lbs

So first week of 0.5 and another half pound off making it a total of 8lbs lost. I haven't been counting calories and I have enjoyed 2 takeaways in the last week, plus a lunch out as well so although it's only a little loss, I'm still incredibly happy with my progress. Would love to be in the next stone bracket by New Year's Eve but with Christmas meals coming up, I can't see that happening. Still, slowly dropping the lbs, and my clothes are beginning to feel little looser too

Could someone interpret this message for me please?

“This medication requires regular and accurate monitoring of your weight. Please note the target to allow the best results is for a 5% reduction in weight within the first 24 weeks, in conjunction with a well-maintained healthy diet and exercise. Thereafter, we are looking for you to at least maintain this achieved weight loss. “

Placed my second order for Wegovy which is approved but the message above was included on the email.

I’ve had three doses of 0.25 and lost 6lbs in that three week period. Is this message saying I’m not loosing enough in the timeframe? So I’m unlikely to hit 5% in the 24 weeks?

This is the only thing in the email other than confirmation of payment and delivery. There aren’t any messages with my account.
Grateful for any insight - this is all a bit new to me so a little lost.

Love your username..!

I would read that as they would like to see 5% weight loss in 24 weeks…
i.e if you weighed 12 stone (168ibs) they would want you to lose 8.4ibs (5% of starting weight) during that time?
im hoping my maths is right there…..

I would think that it is definitely doable to lose more than 5% of weight in 24 weeks?

just worked out my own stats and I’ve lost more than 5% in 5 weeks (I think)

who do you order it through?

I may be wrong… but that’s how I would interpret that message.

Yeah this is my reading of it too. 5% in 24 weeks is a very easy goal for most people.

Witchbitch20 · 05/12/2023 21:35

Thank you @Lovesthebeach and @AhBiscuits.

I originally read it that way and the started doubting myself and readings into things that probably aren’t there. Thank you both so much for taking the time to reply.

I’m too old and past it to be skinny but if I can get two stone off I’ll be a lot happier than I am now.

Simple Online Pharmacy is who I’ve used.

@Witchbitch20 it's because the wegovy doesn't work for a small percentage of people. After 24 weeks you would be on the max dose, so if you weren't loosing weigh then it prob won't work for you even if you continue taking it for longer.

Annwithout · 06/12/2023 14:08

I can't tell you how happy I am to find you all.
Had my third .25 dose yesterday and have ordered a .50 pen though Boots.
It really seems like some kind of witchcraft to change my brain from not constantly thinking about food, thinking about my next meal while still in the middle of the current one - is this how thin people live?
I lost 5 pounds in the first week but only 1 in the second, but I guess you can't complain about 6 pounds in 2 weeks.
The effect definitely wears off for me after around 5 days, would love to be able to top up then and live this magical life without the constant "food noise" - thank you so much to whoever came up with that term.
I haven't had much in the way of bad side effects, I already have IBS so it's just more of the same with the addition of some epic burps when I get up in the morning.
Thank you so much for your company!

FiveCows · 06/12/2023 14:53

@Annwithout Yes, I think this is how it is for thin people.

And oddly, that has really made me angry about how overweight people are treated by society and by medical professionals.

Obesity is treated like a character failing, when it is a biochemical issue, that can be resolved by adjusting the body chemistry.

The more weight I lose, pretty much effortlessly, the more enraged I am 😜😂

Do you know, you are so right!
While I was typing my message, there was a discussion on TV about obesity with all the usual arguments, and I was thinking - surely now they know it is a chemical imbalance which gives us these relentless thoughts, this changes the whole ball game.

There is a voice in my head constantly egging me on to eat, and the crappier the better. Somehow Wegovy manages to simply mute it 🙉

AhBiscuits · 06/12/2023 15:41

Couldn't agree more.
My fat is gradually disappearing and it's easy. I just eat at meal times, I eat a small portion, I don't want to eat more. It's like magic.

My appetite has always been huge, even as a child. It's nice to think of that as being a physical characteristic rather than a moral failing. I remember being 6 and my dad saying I could have anything I wanted for my birthday breakfast. I asked for 6 slices of toast 😅😳 It's always been about the quantity.
