I just use an old formula tin and when it is full I tape it up and take to the local needle disposal unit. Not paying for a sharps container to throw it away at the end. Things might be different where you live.

Amazon and pharmacies sell needles--you just need the insulin needle.

If you are not losing with your first doses, don't panic. Most people don't and some need to reach the 2.4 titration before they start to lose.

So a week in, just taken second shot, no unpleasant side effects and very definitely not bothered about food, which feels so strange. 4lbs down. A lot more to go. Am going to slowly build up my activity levels, thinking about buying an exercise bike/elliptical for the house as weather often bad and fuel costs to get to gym 20 miles away high.

Today’s plan: dog walk, a protein yoghurt, scrambled eggs with tomatoes and a small portion of Sunday dinner, the healthy bits. Lots of water. A high strength vit c tablet and going to take magnesium citrate for first time.

Do you think Wegovy will help with my scenario? Eating out of control due to work stress and being very down about the whole job thing. I've heard W helps with food noise and cravings, but not sure this is the same. I can't even plan to eat healthily at the moment for more than a day before I can't cope with it anymore.

You sound quite desperate if you don't mind me saying. There's obviously something going on like a major stress factor in you life at the moment. There is still an element of willpower required with semaglutide. It lowers appetite but you can still eat and certainly all the evidence suggests when you stop taking the medicine, most people pile the weight back on unless they've made serious lifestyle changes. So you would need to address whatever it is that's making you eat compulsively. Wegovy can't solve life problems.

Welcome!
It's hard to know the best time, it doesn't really matter. I did mine in the morning and didn't really get any side effects for a couple of days.

Thank you! Ah ok that's good to know! Praying my side effects are minimal as I have 2 kids to deal with ( my youngest is 7 months!). Hubby is being so supportive as I've been so down about my weight for years now.

Leo13 · 19/11/2023 08:09

@Lovesthebeach thank you!

Inapickle2 · 19/11/2023 08:26

Hi,
just stopped Ozempic after 6 months. Lost 2 stone and loved the fact I didn’t obsess about eating.

I’ve always done resistance training so continuing with that and have added Berberine supplement to hopefully help with sugar cravings. I’d be happy if I maintain my weight loss and losing more without Ozempic will be a massive bonus.

the reason I stopped, my hair loss was insane!!! I know a few other people have mentioned this too. I have gone from 94 kg to 84kg and really wanted to lose another stone. But had to consider losing weight on Ozempic or going bald. 😳

ChubbyFortySomething · 19/11/2023 08:29

Hi all, can I join you?

I did my first injection on Tuesday and have been lurking on the thread for a few days.
It's going well, such a relief to not have cravings and food noise. Side effects are mild - weird taste in my mouth, bloating, occasional mild nausea.

I do still feel some shame - for not being able to do it on my own. Have told my husband and no-one else.
Starting BMI 30.8, but I'm very short so it really shows.

AhBiscuits · 19/11/2023 09:19

Day 6 and it has definitely worn off. I'm hungry today. Just need to have a healthy day and then can top up tomorrow.

Shefliesonherownwings · 19/11/2023 09:26

I’m interested in this, need to lose 3 stone and struggling with two small children at home. I’ve been doing SW and lost about 10 pounds since June but it’s been so up and down. It’s my 40th soon and I really want to get a handle on my weight before I go back to work after mat leave next year.

Having looked online though, I couldn’t see anything about coming off Wegovy/Ozempic and maintaining? It is meant to be something you’re on for life or just until you reach your goal and then you can wean off it and maintain with a healthy lifestyle? I don’t want to be stuck on it forever, especially given the prices.

AhBiscuits · 19/11/2023 09:32

As with basically all weight loss methods, the regain stats make for depressing reading. I think I remember reading in the UK you can only use it for 2 years but in other countries people basically stay on it forever.
My plan is to get into a good healthy routine and wean off once I'm at my goal. Maintaining is where the real hard work starts.

Beenalongwinter · 19/11/2023 09:40

Can I ask what the current price is please ? Who is the best online pharmacy to order from?
I had great success with Ozempic but sadly no longer affordable due to the recent price hikes.

WeGoveyd · 19/11/2023 09:54

Second jab just done. ✔️

Yes, it's not the miracle some people might think as it suppresses appetite but can't solve what started the weight issue in the first place - whether that's personal (trauma, childhood etc) or societal (marketing, fat+sugar 'mouthfeel' food, modern attitudes to food etc).

Celebrities will likely stay on it forever, but few normal people will be able yo afford to do that. And the pharmacies are currently only allowing obese people to access it. So once weight is lost, access will be denied.

The only rational way to use it therefore is as an aid to a total reset of lifestyle, diet and exercise. I'm not sure that's even enough to set us up for dealing with the (apparently) significantly increased appetite which returns after stopping. But like many others I am desperate enough to try anything and naive enough to convince myself I might be the exception to the rule 😣

Tailfeather · 19/11/2023 00:33

Are you overweight?

BMI 32, so yes.

I don't think "quite desperate" would be correct. There is a work thing going on, which I alluded to, and after a year of being worn down by that I can't seem to make the life changes on my own and am concerned about my health. I don't think "eat compulsively" would be correct either, just a tendency to eat unhealthily.

OhpoorMe · 19/11/2023 14:13

Well I took my first jab yesterday and have random, very sudden and severe waves of nausea though not been sick. Plus lots of heartburn/gassy feelings.

I've yet to eat today - zero appetite. Are people making themselves eat anyway? I'm conscious that I want to retrain good habits not starvation!

Tailfeather · 19/11/2023 14:34

@OhpoorMe Yes, you still need to eat. Hopefully healthy choices.

Tailfeather · 19/11/2023 14:35

@ShortLass Then yes, it sounds like it could help you. X

Gingerlygreen · 19/11/2023 16:10

@OhpoorMe Yes you definitely need to eat, I've bought some meal replacement shakes that I have when I really cannot face food so I can mix them, down them in one and at least I know I'm getting nutrients.
Your experience sounds the same as mine, it feels like when I was pregnant, I felt nauseous but was never sick.

It's very surreal not constantly thinking about or wanting food.

OhpoorMe · 19/11/2023 16:12

Thanks @Gingerlygreen and @Tailfeather I ate a ham sandwich. Not exactly full of vitamins but I needed something I could eat while walking about!

Beenalongwinter · 19/11/2023 22:03

Is Wegovy generally cheaper than Ozempic?

Mybestusername · 19/11/2023 23:08

End of week 2 and I've had a terrible week - I've felt really stressed and anxious which has led to terrible eating habits, despite not actually feeling hungry. As a result, I haven't lost any weight. Had my third dose this evening and am going to make an effort with diet and exercise starting tomorrow.

FiveCows · 20/11/2023 07:36

Morning all, I am 11 days in, not many side effects for me - sorry to hear of those who are feeling unwell.

8lbs lost so far, just not bothered about food (so massively reduced snacking) and get full very quickly so can’t eat much at meals.

I’m using protein shakes too to make sure I get some calories in but I have been at around 1000 per day according to MFP.

Have a good day everyone!

MorphandMindy · 20/11/2023 08:13

I took the first dose 24 hours ago. Inspired by this thread! Started weighing in about 13.5 stone - I am clinically obese. I had been trying, gradually losing half a stone over the course of a year, then my mum got cancer and over the horrific six months until she passed I gained about three times that. I can maintain weight easily enough now over a year, but I cannot lose it. Desk job, long hours, and some international travel. Plus, you know, I can keep eating long after I should be getting "too full" signals from my body.

I am not even bothered about reaching a healthy BMI of 25; I only ever reached that weight once for about six weeks 10 years ago after some intense dieting after my first baby, and I was heavier before I got pregnant. I just want help losing and then I will be ok to maintain, at least until another big life event knocks me back a bit.

So far, very few symptoms. I don't think I'd even have noticed the couple of burps that felt a bit heartburn-y if I wasn't watching out for them. I was hungry at mealtimes and I ate. The small portion I served myself wasn't enough and I even had some leftovers off the kids' plates 😵‍💫

BUT I haven't been snacking. I'm awful for snacking. A bite of this or a piece of that, apple, yogurt, dried fruit, snacksize twix, babybels from the fridge... sitting down to watch tv with a cup of tea and SOMETHING. But it just didn't occur to me to want to put things in my mouth.

Crazymadchickenlady · 20/11/2023 09:25

@MorphandMindy yes that’s how I am. Eating meals fairly normally with maybe slightly smaller portions but have managed to cut out snacking completely which is a miracle for me!
