@CaramelEmporium Sorry to hear it's making you feel so poorly, I have a friend who was badly affected but stuck with it and the side effects subsided, I'm not sure I could though, being sick is bloody awful.

@WeGoveyd well done on your fantastic loss, just think how better you'll feel on January 1st being well into it and not starting from scratch with thousands of others.

I'm on day 10 and doing well, I've had a salad for dinner and could only eat half! That's something I've only ever heard about on Mumsnet 😄
Usually I'd be hungry and snaking all evening but I feel full and not even thinking about food.

CaramelEmporium · 17/11/2023 22:47

There’s no way I’m doing another shot. I’m desperate to have it out of me tbh. I’ve been violently sick twice more today, this afternoon and this evening and felt horrendous all day. Interestingly when you start digging into reviews it’s not uncommon. It’s so weird that it affects everyone so differently.

LovelaceBiggWither · 18/11/2023 01:36

I was very sick for the first couple of months. A year later I still vomit occasionally and have waves of nausea. I persevered because I am primarily taking it to treat diabetes.

CaramelEmporium · 18/11/2023 10:24

Thanks @LovelaceBiggWither I think if I was taking it for diabetes I might feel more inclined to persevere but ‘just’ for weight loss it’s not worth it for me. No judgement on anyone else whatsoever. I’ve woken up this morning feeling just about normal and have had some toast and felt so relieved. It’s really made me think about why I took it in the first place. I absolutely want to loose weight but in hindsight do I want to commit to £200 a month for the long term, the prospect that I don’t retrain my food habits in that time and I gain it back when I come off it, feel ill or worry about feeling ill, on balance I think not. I want to feel ok and be able to enjoy food on occasion so I need to work on enjoying in moderation and finding some good old willpower!

OhpoorMe · 18/11/2023 10:28

Well I just took my first dose after picking it up on Wednesday - yes it took me three days to find the courage 😂

Such a drama over nothing! I normally feint with needles but this was super easy! Fingers crossed now.

I hope it goes well for you and it's good that the side effects have settled down. It's a difficult drug, I never can understand why people with relatively small amounts of weight to lose want it.

troppibambini6 · 18/11/2023 12:27

Hi I'm sorry some people have had such bad side effects it sounds awful. My jabs arrived on Wednesday and did the first one on Thursday morning.
I weighed in at 13'11 Blush so let's see what next Thursday brings.
I can feel the effects already and it's so nice the food chatter in my head has stopped. I feel a little bit queasy but nothing major. Im quite relieved as I've take it before I was worried the lowest dose wouldn't work but so far so good!

AhBiscuits · 18/11/2023 12:44

I went to a work thing last night, 3 course meal and lots of wine. I was quite concerned about it, worried I'd throw up or something but it was fine. The portions were small but I couldn't finish them. I was still able to enjoy the food. I did have a fair amount of wine but also drank loads of water. It was a relief that I was still able to enjoy the evening and not draw any attention from anyone.

Weigh day was today! I'm 7lbs down, due my next shot tomorrow morning. Pretty pleased with that!!

Well done that's an incredible loss! Was that just the first week?

AhBiscuits · 18/11/2023 13:02

I'm at MIL's now for lunch, already managed to swerve some chocolate biscuits. She always puts things out for you to help yourself so I should be able to just take a little bit. Saturday night DH and I often get a pizza or something and eat snacks later while watching TV. He knows I've started a health kick this week but that doesn't usually stop me 😅I'll make something instead and again just serve myself a small amount, and will skip the snacks.

Honestly, It's so obvious why I'm fat. I generally eat fairly healthily in the week but every weekend is like Christmas and ruins my efforts. It'll be really good for me to break that habit, I've been doing it for years.

Leo13 · 18/11/2023 13:03

Hi everyone! Starting my first jab on Monday! Is it better to do it in the morning or evening? I can't wait to shift this weight!

AhBiscuits · 18/11/2023 13:12

Welcome!
It's hard to know the best time, it doesn't really matter. I did mine in the morning and didn't really get any side effects for a couple of days.

OhpoorMe · 18/11/2023 13:13

Does everyone have a sharps bin? If not, do you just throw away in the normal trash?

Sorry you’ve been feeling so poorly. Glad you’re feeling a bit more normal this morning. It’s crazy how it can affect everyone in different ways!

Welcome! I always do mine on a Monday morning. I don’t think there’s a right or a wrong time to do it 😊

Sounds like it’s going really well so far… I did have a little lol to myself about ‘every weekend it’s like Xmas’ I can sooooo identify with that….. I get exactly how you feel!
i really think so so much of my issue is habit and a bit of addiction…..

Lovesthebeach · 18/11/2023 14:16

Does anybody know where to get extra needles from? I read that the 0.25 pen contains 8 x 0.25 doses. So I was thinking if I buy some needles I can get my first 2 x 0.5 doses out of my first pen to save some money?

Superlambaanana · 18/11/2023 17:25

Has anyone stayed on a lower dose for longer than a month? Advice seems to be to take 0.25 for a month, then 0.5 for a month etc. If you got a response with 0.25 did you find it faded after a while and you had to go up to keep appetite suppressed?

I work in a hospital so just took mine in work and threw it in the sharps bin. Sorry I know that doesn’t help you!

You can buy insulin pen needles on Amazon which I presume will probably fit.

I got a sharps bin with mine. I don't know what I'll do with it when full though, I think I have to get the council to collect it.

Do you think Wegovy will help with my scenario? Eating out of control due to work stress and being very down about the whole job thing. I've heard W helps with food noise and cravings, but not sure this is the same. I can't even plan to eat healthily at the moment for more than a day before I can't cope with it anymore.

AhBiscuits · 18/11/2023 20:01

Yes I think it will help @ShortLass
In my experience so far the desire to eat junk has disappeared, but also if I eat more than a small portion I feel a bit sick and I get a very strong signal from my body to stop. I don't think I could eat to excess if I tried.

Possibly. There's only one way to find out.
I'd say if you can afford it then give it a go for a month
