Can I join you?

Started last week.

Age: 52
Height: 5'2"
Start weight: 12st 8
Target: 10st
Today: 12st 6

1st week took a couple of days to feel any reduction in appetite, but noticed it from a few days in. Lasted all week.

For the 1st time I've found it, relatively, easy.

Just had my 2nd injection.

NotToYou · 20/11/2023 10:40

I'd like to join in too please! I'm one week in, took my 2nd dose this morning. 4.2lbs down in week 1, many more to go.

I definitely felt it starting to wear off over the weekend so I'm looking forward to this dose kicking in.

Well done on getting started .
Thinking of starting too, having had great success with Ozempic , please may I ask
Where you are ordering from at the moment and the current price?

Helene2019 · 20/11/2023 11:08

Forgot to update yesterday after weighing - prob was so excited by the fact I'm still losing weight.

3 week update: start BMI 32.7 current BMI 31.5 🎉

There is a real possibility that I might get under BMI of 30 before Xmas 🤞🤞🤞. Anyone else aiming for this before Xmas?

I still don't have any side effects just a hint of nausea at the end of the week. I am sticking to three proper meals a day and no snacks. My food is mostly lean meat/fish, low fat loads of veggies and wholegrains to boost fibre. Just in case anyone is interested in ideas - my food choices are mostly porridge/wholegrain cereal with skimmed milk for breakfast/soft boiled or scrambled eggs and whole meal toast; lunch is usually shop bought salad with grains, lentils and chicken/fish or a vegetable based soup; dinner is lean protein/fish vegetables with a whole grain, pudding is greek yoghurt with seeds and honey/a couple of boiled sweets/options hot chocolate/small bit of fruit (half apple/a fig/clementine). I started logging meals this week and seem to always be around 1200cals a day. So my loss is slower than most people but I feel like I've got control on good food choices and most importantly for motivation I don't feel like I'm on a diet or missing out on anything.

OhpoorMe · 20/11/2023 11:23

@Beenalongwinter I ordered from Superdrug a week ago. £200 for my first pen which seems to be standard. I did a lot of research first and the only place I've seen it cheaper was Asda but no stocks

@Helene2019 well done! Your way seems very healthy - I'm struggling to eat but then that's making me feel unwell. Can I ask what that BMI change is in weight?

Thank you. What dose did they start you on please and when do you expect to move up?

OhpoorMe · 20/11/2023 11:26

@Beenalongwinter you start on 0.25 and move up every 4 weeks in theory.

But it asks you if you've been on weight loss drugs before, so since you've been on ozempic it might be different for you

AhBiscuits · 20/11/2023 11:54

I ordered from Health Express. You can get 3% cashback through Topcashback and they sent me a voucher for 5% off my next order. I'm going to get their package of a 0.5 pen and 1 pen for £360 next to make best use of the discount.

I took my second shot this morning. Lost just over 2lbs in the first week. It had definitely worn off by the weekend and I needed willpower, which I lack. I could have lost more.

Just spent 3 hours organising my wardrobe and dumped two huge bags of clothes. Clothes are a huge source of stress to me. All the clothes I wear are ugly and I only wear them because they fit. I have 15 pairs of jeans that don't fit and none that do. I have a very small number of things that I actually wear. Hoping to change this soon. Once I'm at goal I'm going on a huge shopping spree.

Helene2019 · 20/11/2023 12:26

@OhpoorMe it's not much loss compared to what some people lose in a week. It's just over 6lbs. It's why I log the BMI and not the lbs. Every time I've tried to lose weight I get disheartened if I only loose 1lb or if I don't lose anything etc and then I fall off the bandwaggon. Or I get overwhelmed by the thought of having to lose 50+lbs to get to a normal BMI! Everyone gets fixated on lbs, but the amount each person needs to loose or should weigh to get to a healthy BMI is different so it is less overwhelming for me to track BMI as in my head I know it changes slower. Also I only weigh once a week also for similar reasons!

@Beenalongwinter when you start from scratch you take 0.25mg wegovy. This week is my 4th and last dose so next week I move up to 0.5 for 4 weeks. Then you move to the next one etc. but a doctor will tell you what concentration to go on if you've been taking something similar and are transferring.

@AhBiscuits great idea shopping spree if I can get to BMI 30, hopefully timed with the sales 😂 although the pens get more expensive 😔

Helene2019 · 20/11/2023 12:40

@OhpoorMe obviously not being able to eat at all isnt too good! Wonder if you try to eat 3 meals at regular eating times but just very small portions and also plain/bland food? Or swap one meal for a meal replacement shake and swap one meal for soup as liquid might be easier to manage? I hope it levels out for you after a few weeks...

I'm due to take my 3rd shot tomorrow and still feeling very positive, I had a meal at the pub on Saturday and chose the chicken burger and chips, I ate the chicken, about half of the bun, a few chips and felt really full but then throughout Sunday I had the most awful diarrhoea! It's the most I've eaten in two weeks and I won't be doing that again.

I'm also very stressed as I've noticed some breast changes so am on the two week pathway for an appointment at the clinic, one positive thing is that when I'm worried I lose my appetite so along with the pen I'm finding it easy to not constantly think about food.

Hi guys just had my first ever dose of wegovy! I don't know why I'm so nervous!

Hahaha I was too! Poor DH had to come into the bedroom with me for moral support as I was getting it ready to take!

@DialEmforMurder I know what you mean about the willpower. I haven't had any very strong symptoms and I still want to eat... although I must admit I'm finding it easier to choose healthier meals and the craving for "sweet" has reduced significantly. If I'm thirsty I want water but no desire to drink Coke. I had chunky soup for dinner and I thought I might only have half but I ate the whole tub ...but I don't need dessert.

Hi guys just had my first ever dose of wegovy! I don't know why I'm so nervous!

I was too! Now I just wish I had started sooner! I basically put it off for about 7 months as I was so scared of the side effects.

Leo13 · 20/11/2023 22:40

Thanks @MorphandMindy and @Tailfeather !!! What have your journeys been like weight loss wise? I'm currently 91kg looking to get to 70kg!

Shewhobecamethesun · 21/11/2023 07:07

Oh gosh @Gingerlygreen I hope all is okay.

Welcome to all the new people too. I was fine taking my first dose but I had tried Saxenda a couple of years ago and remember being so scared of injecting myself.

Weigh In Update

Age: 39
Height 5'5"
SW: 13stone
CW: 12st7.6bs

0.25mg
Week 1: -4lbs
Week 2: -0.5lbs
Week 3: -2lbs

So in 3 weeks I have lost 6.5lbs. Absolutely amazed how easy it is. I still get hungry at meal times but i can stop when I'm full and struggle to force myself to finish a large plate, whereas before I would have definitely found room. Cravings have started to come back, but I was craving some crisps the other day, so picked up a big sharing bag and ate two handfuls then put them away, craving satisfied. No mindlessly munch the whole bag whilst watching tv. It's just so easy.
Last 0.25 dose tonight, I've already got my 0.5 pen in the fridge as I ordered from asda as it seemed to be the cheapest.

Lovesthebeach · 21/11/2023 07:37

@Gingerlygreen i hope you’re doing ok. You must be feeling so worried x

@Shewhobecamethesun sounds like things are going really well for you. I think we are at the same stage as I’m due to move up to 0.5 next Monday. Did u know that apparently u can get 2 x dose of 0.5 out of your 0.25 pen? I read it on one of the other threads, just need to buy more needles.

@Leo13 welcome to the gang! I remember feeling the same and being nervous!

hope everyone is doing ok x

you’ve just put into words how I’ve been feeling the last week or so!!!

I feel like the injection is definitely taking away some hunger and making me full quicker but I’m definitely seemingly able to override it to a certain extent probably because I love food and am actually addicted to it!!

the first week all the food noise disappeared, recently I would say it’s come back a bit (not fully) but I’m finding it harder. Tbh I debated going up to 0.5 this week instead of next week in the hope that I’d get rid of the food noise and get better appetite suppression but then I was scared that my body wouldn’t like it 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think my body has got used to it though and that’s why I’m not finding it quite so easy, so fingers crossed the higher dose will help.

I weighed myself yesterday and have lose 5ibs in 3 weeks…. Fairly happy with that but did think it would be more as I am eating significantly less when compared with before….. we shall see what the next few weeks brings…

sorry that was a major essay!!!

smilesup · 21/11/2023 07:49

How does it work when you stop? Is the idea that you p permanently change your diet?

RachBakesCakes · 21/11/2023 07:54

Hi all hope everyone is doing well, just checking in for my second week weigh in.

SW: 14st 13lbs BMI: 38.2
Week 1: -9lbs
Week 2: -5lbs
CW: 13st 3lbs BMI: 35.7

Happy to have lost a stone since I started but I have had major surgery this week so my ability and desire to eat has been dramatically reduced. I’m realistic and know that once things are back to normal my weight loss will inevitably slow down. Looking to increase my activity once I’m recovered. Good luck to everyone in their journeys!

Yes. As with any diet plan, if you return to old ways the weight will return.

Everyone is doing so well!
I’ve upped my walking and bought myself an exercise bike/elliptical for bad weather days. Have started taking a teaspoon of magnesium citrate as well as high dose vitamin C, hoping that will help bowels…annoyingly the packet doesn’t actually say how much to take so I’m going to have to trial and error it a teaspoon at a time.
Today’s food: scrambled eggs with spinach and tomatoes, a protein quark pudding, mushroom stir fry
