I week on Wegovy today. Hardly any side effects, just a loss of interest in food.
Have lost 6lbs. A good start!

AhBiscuits · 15/11/2023 12:29

Fantastic @FiveCows, well done!

I'm out for a boozy meal on Friday for a work event and a bit worried about how I'm going to navigate it.

FiveCows · 15/11/2023 12:39

Thanks @AhBiscuits . I don’t drink so have quite a lot of experience in navigating boozy dinners but without drinking. Or it may be that you just want one glass? A good tip I used to use if I just wanted one glass of wine was to keep topping up the glass with water, from when it was about half full. Stops other people from topping up with wine and keeps you relatively sober so you don’t eat more than you want to.

OhpoorMe · 15/11/2023 18:01

Eeeek I just picked up my pen. Super super nervous.

Anyone got tips for things they wish they'd known/done when starting?

Gingerlygreen · 15/11/2023 18:36

@OhpoorMe I'm just over a week in and it's been fine, much easier than I expected, I don't have any tips because I haven't had any struggles and hope it's the same for you.

Shewhobecamethesun · 16/11/2023 07:15

Anyone else experiencing a dry mouth? Like I'm constantly thirsty because me mouth is so dry.

FiveCows · 16/11/2023 15:01

@Shewhobecamethesun Are you drinking enough water? I have got a 2l bottle and I make sure I drink that much every day.

Shewhobecamethesun · 16/11/2023 16:33

I drink LOADS and I'm rarely seen without a cup of tea in my hand so I don't think hydration is the issue. And it's usually fine during the day it's just waking up during the night or in the morning and it's just so dry
I've also been very lethargic which I've also read is a symptom.

I’ve noticed my mouth is quite dry at times too and I am defo lacking in energy… I was putting that down to the clocks going back and it being darker earlier. I feel like I could go to bed right now!

Lovesthebeach · 16/11/2023 19:40

@OhpoorMe have you taken your first injection yet? How are you feeling?

Lovesthebeach · 16/11/2023 19:41

@FiveCows amazing loss for your first week!! Great advice about drinking and filling up your wine glass too 😊

CaramelEmporium · 16/11/2023 21:32

I had my first injection yesterday. Felt really nauseous since mid morning today and stinking headache. DH had cooked chinese for dinner, chicken rice and stir fry veg and I could only pick at it. I feel like I did when I had morning sickness.

No not yet. I thought I'd wait for the weekend in case I have symptoms, and because you have to take it the same day every week - Saturday seemed better!

CaramelEmporium · 17/11/2023 03:29

I’m so envious of you everyone without side effects. I woke up about an hour ago, v gassy, repeat bouts of diarrhoea, felt v shaky. Thought perhaps I need to eat something, so had a satsuma. 10 mins later vomited massively. Feel okish now but wide awake and wondering if this is really worth it already. I took my first dose of 0.25 on Wednesday morning.

AhBiscuits · 17/11/2023 06:58

Sorry to hear that @CaramelEmporium
It should ease as your body gets used to the drug.

I took my first dose on Monday morning and Wednesday was awoken at 4am by cramps and diarrhoea. Luckily it was short lived and I was able to just go about my day. Being sick too might have made me question my choices. I feel pretty normal today, even a bit hungry, so I think the first dose is wearing off

I'm determined to give it 3 months. If I find I'm only losing weight because I feel terrible all the time then that probably isn't worth it to me.

I’ve been awake all night and still feeling awful. Really sick, sulphuric burps, I think the d&v has only stopped because I’m empty. I’ve forced myself to eat a dozen blueberries as sometimes you feel sick when you’re hungry don’t you. I’m willing the effects out of my body, I’d rather be chubby than feel like this, I can’t function.
I’ve been scanning the other threads on Wegovy for other stories when people have had an awful reaction to the first shot but persevered, haven’t found anything so far. It feels like £200 wasted but at the moment I’m not sure I could face another dose I’ve felt that ill.

I’m so disappointed, I had such high hopes 😭

CaramelEmporium · 17/11/2023 09:13

@AhBiscuits @DialEmforMurder
I’d be interested to know how you feel after your second dose if you don’t mind updating. I know we all respond differently but whether you have the same symptoms as you had in the first on your second shot would be good to know.

Yeah no problem. I'll do my next dose Monday morning and will update. This week I had some sulphur burps Tuesday, diarrhoea Wednesday and then fine. Will be interested to see if it follows the same pattern.
I feel today like the effects have worn off, my tummy was actually rumbling because I'm hungry.

CaramelEmporium · 17/11/2023 10:22

I think at the moment I’m thinking no more for me. Googling in the early hours of the morning suggests that the side effects are so bad for 5-6% that they don’t carry on so I think I’m one of those unlucky 1 in 20 stats. I’ve never felt this ill in a long time.

I’m trying to take the positives that I’m going to save some £££ if nothing else and this will have kickstarted my weight loss as I can’t keep anything down and I’m guessing I’ve got another couple of days of feeling bloody awful.

Crazymadchickenlady · 17/11/2023 11:02

I've been fine since starting mine on Wednesday. Has stopped me snacking and has definitely stopped me thinking about what I can eat next all the time. I've started writing down everything I eat on MyFitnessPal as well. Hopefully I'll finally stick to something and loose some weight. Not told my husband and got my pen hidden in one of the fridges at work. When are you all going to order the second pen? I thought maybe after the second injection I would try and order the next one.

Weigh day was today! I'm 7lbs down, due my next shot tomorrow morning. Pretty pleased with that!!

WeGoveyd · 17/11/2023 19:47

@CaramelEmporium I've felt the same way with regards to the morning sickness thing. It was the only way I could describe it! Hope you feel better soon.
