A fresh new month; perfect time to re-set the mind, outline goals and affirm intentions. A fresh start to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 1lb. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average of a 1lb per you could be a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄

Good Afternoon All

Welcome to the thread @happyhouse2 👍 I identify with your goal weight. I’m similar in that my goal weight is still a full stone over what I was all my adult life until my spinal cord injury 😬.

@SaltySeaCat Well done on donating the red stuff. Respect to ya’ ❤️

Welcome back @Weatherwax13 👍

@wiltingflower That must be a great feeling! 👌

@december2020 Thats a sensible target, rooting for you.

That’s a great weekly result @happyhouse2 4lbs 😮

Some great results being posted. Well done everyone. Keep at it, even when the scales don’t reflect all your effort!

WOW - 9st 2lbs - bugger I’m up a 1lb.

I managed a 25min assault bike workout this evening, but really wasn't feeling it.

Tonight was pizza night in my house (DS's favourite night as we get them from a little pizza food truck that does tasty sourdough pizzas) so probably not the healthiest - but I tried to listen to my body and not overindulge.

I've also cut down on alcohol the last few days so combined with the exercise feel a bit more peppy (though it is only day 3 so it could all be in my head). I'm aiming to do exercise 3 times a week as a starting point.

Sorry for the constant spam posts - I'm hoping to keep myself more accountable by doing the updates.

Newname2308 · 04/10/2023 22:19

Just remembered it’s Wednesday!
70kg on 8/9, (got down to 67kg then went away for the weekend 🥂🍪🍔), 68kg on 1/10, 67.8kg today. Very pleased I’m back creeping downwards.
Have cut down on booze quite a lot ✅ Doing the 10-15 workout on the BetterMe app daily, and occasionally a second tougher one ✅ Intermittent Fasting 16:8 is the goal but my work shifts have made it difficult - I aim to eat 1-9. Religiously logging every meal and snack on the app and making better choices now I know what I’m looking at.
I go on holiday in 9 days, and would love to dip below 67kg when I do 🤞🤞

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/10/2023 22:28

Gah, up 2lbs since last week. I haven't been as diligent as I would have liked on the calories, but onwards and upwards. Still recovering from injury but managed to start some exercise this week which is something!

SW 11st
CW 10st 12

Trying to fight the peri weight gain. It’s slow progress. I’m managing 12k steps a day (often more). I need to cut down on sugary snacks and reduce the size of carb portions at meal times.

WeirdPookah · 05/10/2023 09:58

Done a Joe Wicks work out (side note, wish he would group floor exercises rather than up and down constantly, sure fire way to give me a headache!) because it's raining.

Meal plan solid for the day, just having a oatmilk coffee and a break, then going to clean a bit.

B: Kidney bean burrito
L: Lentil soup, Richmond vegetarian bacon (soup I batch cooked yesterday)
D: Roast brussel sprouts, butternut and peppers, McCartney vegetarian sausages

Bikechic · 05/10/2023 10:57

I'm at a similar stage in my journey as you@Diah . Currently 10 st 11 (up 1lb from last week and hoping to get to 10 st. Been at a Plateau for a while now. I know what I need to do, I'm just not doing it! 10 st 10 is always an important milestone for me. Will get back there next week. Yes I will!

buzzofthebumblebee · 05/10/2023 13:18

Hello all. Slinking back to this lovely group as maintenance didn't go well over the summer, and had a bit of a shock when I dared the scales yesterday & have re-gained half a stone that took so much effort to loose at the beginning of the year.

Actually it wasn't a shock, I had felt it on my body, tighter clothes, and less energy, but just in denial. Back on it now, but re-joining you to be accountable.

Plan is to ditch the sugar and refined carbs, cut back on portion sizes, stop snacking, and be very mindful of nutrition.

My big weakness is alcohol (especially as I can't drink without snacking too), so after a nasty bout of covid, I haven't had any booze for 8 days now, and shall (try) and continue for rest of the month.

SW 11 8
CW 11 8
GW 11 1

I want to be back to feeling fabulous & the being best version of myself.

DomesticElf · 05/10/2023 14:38

Catching up with GBBO. Why oh why do I do this to myself?

Yes you will @Bikechic! And I’ll join you there, in a week or two (or three…)

MrsBobo · 05/10/2023 18:33

Hi, hope it's not too late to join!!

Current weight 14st 7.5lbs
Height 5ft 4

Would love to lose a few stone 😉

december2020 · 05/10/2023 20:26

I've been feeling really headachy and tired all day.
So I've not felt as peppy as the past couple of days but still have tried to not totally overindulge. Exercise has just been a dog walk, but I'm still on track to meet my weekly exercise target so it's ok.

It was.bolognese this evening (less pasta for me and mainly the meat sauce). I'm hoping to feel a bit better tomorrow and have my mojo back.

How is everyone else ?

PatienceOfEngels · 06/10/2023 07:15

Couldn't weigh in Wednesday as on school camp. Bloated with period, knackered from sleeping in a tent and teenagers talking at me non-stop for 2 days! Have managed to get lots of steps in and some fun activities like climbing, canoeing, cycling.

SW 77kg
GW 68kg

2 days of camp food have not been great for me - too much bread, snacks and coffee. Day off to day to recover so will be trying to get some fresh air, rest and lots of veggies.

Kazziek · 06/10/2023 09:04

I went to buy jeans this morning and found I needed 2 sizes smaller than last time, in about March! 🎉🎉🎉

WeirdPookah · 06/10/2023 10:04

@december2020 I usually skip the pasta entirely, and have the pasta sauces over broccoli or cauliflower, and then leaves more calories for cheese!!

I saw yesterday afternoon what's going on with my car! it has a screw in the tyre, my Dad pumped it back up, took it to the tyre place after school, but they didn't have time, so got to take it this morning.

Done a Jenny Ford work out, food planned, off to take the car now!

B: Seeded bread, almond butter, banana
L: Omelette, peppers, tomatoes
D: Miso peanut tofu, broccoli

Newname2308 · 06/10/2023 15:17

i feel like I’m doing well with trying to monitor my nutritional intake, watching calories but also trying to boost protein. I also had a really stressful and upsetting shift at work today and for the first time noticed that my first thought was ‘go and get a sweet treat to deal with that’. I’ve had a word with myself and the craving has passed easily 👍 Sounds silly but I wanted to tell somebody 🤣
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

december2020 · 06/10/2023 19:42

@WeirdPookah - yes! I tend to skip the pasta totally sometimes too and just have bolognese. Loving your meal plan today - sounds delicious!

@Newname2308 - I hope you're doing ok with the crappy shift! But amazing will power!!

I've been on today - it was a WFH day,, did all 3 dog walks and a 3k run (it was terrible - I got a stitch just before 2k and my sock was chafing and rubbing).
Breakfast was scrambled eggs, lunch was leftover bolognese and kefir for a snack.
Dinner will be duck (lol autocorrect wanted to put that a dick) and a glass of wine (or two)! Totally goes against weight loss but I want to try find lifestyle changes that are sustainable long term.

Happy Friday everyone!

december2020 · 06/10/2023 19:43

I've been ok - not on!!

LemonDrizzle23 · 07/10/2023 08:33

Well done for resisting @Newname2308 ! So many of my bad choices are made at the end of a bad / emotional / tiring day.

I'm away for the weekend, which will involve a 3 course dinner tonight! But also hopefully some walking to balance it out.

What is everyone up to this weekend?

LemonDrizzle23 · 07/10/2023 09:22

Packing now. Turns out, when you put on weight, your feet also put on weight 🙄

Add "being able to wear all my shoes again" to the list of benefits of losing weight. In fairness I do think my feet literally spread during pregnancy and never went back! But I'm not sure I can blame that entirely at this point...

WeirdPookah · 07/10/2023 16:19

@Newname2308 well done!

Doing ok for a Saturday, not feeling the happiest to be honest.
Done a bit of work in the garden, tidying up the "helping" our neighbour did and left it looking tatty.

B: Scrambled eggs, mushrooms, hash browns, half slice toast
L: Vegetable soup, english muffin with my green tomato chutney and cheese
D: Vegetarian Stovies

wiltingflower · 07/10/2023 18:25

Weighed in at a new low today at 55.8kg today 🎉 never been this weight as an adult!

As usual at the weekend I've been experimenting with different foods and trying to find out how much is ok to eat because weekdays are usually protein shakes for 2 meals out of convenience and I need to learn calorie and portion control.

Yesterday with colleagues I went out after work and had some chips, an apple tart slice, hot chocolate and an earl grey tea. I didn't particularly enjoy what was on the menu but I had what I could from it.

Today I had a protein shake, a couple of idlis for breakfast, lunch was a wrap made with halloumi, Nandos chilli jam and olives, cucumber, beetroot and radishes. I have felt so sick since lunch and I think it's the wrap - I try to limit ultraprocessed foods and make everything from scratch as far as possible and this is something I've not eaten in months whereas everything else I'm used to having. I gave up on the wrap and had to take the vegetables out and have them separately. I've still have some halloumi and vegetables from lunch that didn't go in the wrap that I'll have later for dinner but I still feel so sick I may just leave it for tomorrow now.

I've had a sedentary laying in bed and resting from a cold type of day so I'm now doing some light exercise. I doubt I'll get even remotely close to 7k steps today but I'm trying to do what I can and being ill plus sickness from lunch really meant I couldn't do more.

wiltingflower · 07/10/2023 18:31

I can also kind of fit better into a nice tailored work skirt that never really fit me before, it was always too small but I really wanted it at the time and didn't want to get the next size up as it was far too big. It's not something I would wear now, but I've kept it because I find it hard to throw out clothes, especially because quality used to be better and I hope I can fit back/better into clothes that never properly fit in the first place.

ImALittlePea · 08/10/2023 09:21

Morning! I'm back 🤩 not had a chance to catch up yet (5 pages already in one week - wow you lot 😝) but I'll try to later. We had a lovely week away - not particularly relaxing as such, but very enjoyable nonetheless - and going to brave the scales tomorrow. Let's see what the all inclusiveness has done 😬🤦‍♀️

TheRealHousewife · 08/10/2023 18:19
