Schools are returning, most holidays are over and Autumn is fast approaching; A perfect time to re-set the mind, outline goals and affirm intentions. There is definitely a cool nip in the air!

Another new month to initiate a fresh start to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lb. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average a 1lb per week you’ll be at least a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄

Good Morning

SW 229.5
GW for 🎄206.5
CW 228 (-1.5lbs)

I hope everyone has a good weigh in /great week ahead

TheRealHousewife · 13/09/2023 08:29

Cross posted @Bikechic SBMI Calculator put me in the green zone too (‘cause I’m older) 😬 My weight fluctuating pattern was the same as yours too … slightly up and now back down. I’m working on getting a couple of lbs off this month. Ultimately I want to be firmly in the 8’s such as 8st 10lbs. Then I’ll settle on maintaining. Being barely 5ft tall every extra bit of weight shows.

TheRealHousewife · 13/09/2023 08:30

@OrangeSpicedBun Excellent weekly loss. Well done 👏👏👏

Will you have me on here too? Lost some weight at the beginning of the year but stopped being careful diet wise (upped exercise though).

I don't know my weight ATM so will weigh tomorrow as a belated weigh in Weds.

Was just thinking that I need to get myself in order before 2024 so this group would be perfect

Whoevenknows79 · 13/09/2023 08:38

SW 173.4 lb
CW 171.8 lb (+1.4)
TW 158 lb

Up 1.4lb this week. Feeling disappointed with myself as know I can do better. Too much booze and too many snacks this week.

TheRealHousewife · 13/09/2023 08:47

Welcome to the thread @GreenMonty You’ve come to the right place; you’ll be pleased you did when you see what a difference can be made by this time next week, next month and 🎄😬

@Whoevenknows79 Don’t be hard on yourself. I realise that’s easier said than done when the scales are being tw**ish. That said fluctuating is normal. Be kinder to yourself and reset. More importantly get in the right headspace in that you can do it 👍

OP posts:
ImALittlePea · 13/09/2023 09:45

Well done WoWers - some great results so far! And to those who's scales are being bastards - keep going, we all know the disappointment that comes when the numbers don't show what we want.

Glad to say I didn't cave last night, the cuppa and water did the trick on the hunger pang front. I also managed to put an online order in for holiday bits (not packing just yet @TheRealHousewife, two-and-a-bit weeks to go), so that's a few things ticked off my mental load list.

Today's plans have been thwarted by DD being sick in the car on the way home from school 😞 she's not been car sick in ages so I've cancelled our planned trip to a local soft play in case it's a bug and not motion. Plus I've got the car seat to tackle and get clean 🥴 horrible job!

Today's plan:
Lunch - cup-a-soup special
Dinner - possibly tortilla pizza with homemade sweet potato chips/chunks and salad - that's if I can get to a shop, depending on the sick situ.

Fingers crossed! 😬🤞

fedupofbuilders · 13/09/2023 09:57

SW: 70kg
CW: 70.5kg
Just returned from a lovely week away in Northumbria. I had planned to relax and enjoy but am always surprised how quickly and easily the weight goes on. I need to get straight back on plan.
Busy next couple of days so will take the opportunity of 2 mini fast days - no eating after my (light) lunch.
Aim for under 70kg next WOW

NothingTraLaLa · 13/09/2023 10:49

Holding fairly steady this week - very slight gain but it’s that time of the month so that makes sense to me. Water retention? Cake? One or the other.

SW 128 lbs
CW 123.8 lbs
TW 119 lbs

WeirdPookah · 13/09/2023 11:15

Haven't been out today, shame as it's gloriously COOL, but I had to prep 3 cauliflowers, 8 courgettes and 3 bags of shallots to make chunky piccalilli!
Sat in the living room to do it as it was such an epic amount. It's salting now, cook the sauce and jar it tomorrow.
Also batch cooked a bag of barley, to add to other things quicker.

Weighed in, 1.4lbs down this week.
Just over 57lbs down in total.

Not bad all things considered. Need to get back into walking properly, but been so busy this week trying to batch cook stuff for autumn.

B: Pinto bean burrito
L: Sweet and sour vegetables with quorn
D: Country Mix veggie sausage stew, toast.

OrangeSpicedBun · 13/09/2023 11:57

Welcome @GreenMonty curious why 2024 is the year for you? Anything special happening?

It's nice to have a goal to work towards. I tried to get my husband to agree next June's holiday just because I wanted a goal/vision...then I remembered we are glamping at IoW festival. Sounds silly to put such store on things but can help!

Bomblette · 13/09/2023 12:58

Checking in. Lost 1/2 a pound this week. Reckon it would have been more but I indulged in wine at the weekend, so holding myself accountable next weekend. Sadly I am just not capable of sticking to one glass!

PieFaceAndLovingIt · 13/09/2023 13:37

SW: 17 stone 10lbs 😰
CW: 17 stone 1lb 😅
TW: 11 stone 7lbs

Getting into the swing of 16:8 intermittent fasting -
B: cup of tea (will eventually be black tea, but not right now !)
L: jumbo prawns, cottage cheese, cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks and olives
D: chilli lime coconut chicken mini fillets with salad and half a sweet potato

Next step is venturing out for a daily walk...

TheRealHousewife · 13/09/2023 14:15

@PieFaceAndLovingIt Fabulous progress 👏👏👏

@Bomblette A loss is a loss, well done 👍👏

@WeirdPookah Sounds very productive. I’ve often dreamt of making my own piccalilli but never gotten around to it. I bet yours is delicious 😋

@NothingTraLaLa Great attitude, fluctuations are normal. I’m sure when Aunt Flo leaves you’ll recalibrate 👍

@fedupofbuilders Nice to have you back. You’ll soon be back into the swing of things again.

@ImALittlePea sorry to hear your little one is poorly 😷 Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery!

hi everyone, still stuck at around 56 kgs. I need to up my game if I want to get any lower I think!
i did eat a lot for me last night though so I am fasting today to compensate.
going out for dinner tonight but I will try and have something light or persuade someone to share with me.
well done to everyone for carrying on !!! This really did need to be a lifestyle change!
have a good week everyone

2Early4Breakfast · 13/09/2023 16:09

Last week I lost two pounds with a nasty cough. I’m now up one pound due to wobbling off-plan. Have cut back on dairy, and gallbladder has subsided. Had a lovely couple of hours in the garden earlier, chopping back branches and sweeping, and feeling much better for it.

TheRealHousewife · 13/09/2023 16:56

@Ninjachicken It’s often said the nearer to goal we get the slower the rate of loss. Very frustrating! Overall you’ll need less calories now to lose than you did initially. I’d advise keep going and good luck 👍

@2Early4Breakfast I’ve been pottering in the garden too and it was delightful. Not too hot or cold and a nice bit of sunshine ☀️ Pleased to read your pain has subsided 👍. If you was off food last week your body will be wanting a re-feed to help recuperate. You’ll soon get your equilibrium back.

@TheRealHousewife I am making a huge lot of this time, going to gift a couple as extra christmas presents to inlaws. Just had the thought, that I wonder what brussel sprouts would be like in there!!

@ImALittlePea oh thats horrible. I hope she feels better. I get dreadfully travel sick, have done my whole life.

TheRealHousewife · 13/09/2023 21:39

@WeirdPookah Lucky in-laws 😋

Argggggh. First weigh in, posting late today instead of Wednesday.

79.1 kg or 12st 10lbs 6 oz. Crikey.

I was 12st earlier in the year 😭.

I'm off caffeine and alcohol due to menopausal anxiety but have found non alcoholic gin and beer and of course that has calories. If I give up food treats I'll have no vices left!

It must be done. I feel like a particularly hairy rotund hobbit on a quest. (Don't mention the Ring or I'll think of donuts 🍩)

I will post in stones and pounds next Wednesday as I find that easier psychologically in terms of making progress than kgs. I'll drop the ounces.

I am NOT at my fighting weight.

I'm going to increase my protein intake. I'm already swimming twice per week and want to go back to weight training but I've had an injury so I'll need to be careful.

Wasted non-nutritional calories are going to have to be jettisoned. And a careful eye on calories in general so that I'm not overeating. As long as the trend is downwards I'm not fussed if the weight goes up and down. It's never a linear progression straight down, always up and down like peaks.

Argggggh.

Waves to you all 👋

OrangeSpicedBun · 13/09/2023 11:57

Welcome @GreenMonty curious why 2024 is the year for you? Anything special happening?

It's nice to have a goal to work towards. I tried to get my husband to agree next June's holiday just because I wanted a goal/vision...then I remembered we are glamping at IoW festival. Sounds silly to put such store on things but can help!

Thank you for asking OrangeSpicedBun 💐 There's nothing particularly special about this year but I'm 52 and menopausal and I'm a bit stiffer overall. I want to get the weight down so that I can move more freely and feel less tired. I think health wise I'm too heavy at 12st 10lbs for my height of 5'5". I want to nip it in the bus now. My engagement ring and wedding band no longer fit. I haven't worn them in 14 years I think - since having ds. I just wear a silver eternity band which looks pretty good.

So I'd like to wear my rings again! And the weight loss must be slow and accompanied by muscle gain.

Thank you! You are right about having a goal or vision. I've also cleared my wardrobe out so that unflattering clothes have gone and I'm going to take more care of myself.

A holiday is something use as a goal and I hope you have a fab time 🙂

GreenMonty · 14/09/2023 09:23

SW 12st 10lbs
CW 12st 10lbs
GW 10st 7lbs - upper range normal BMI for me

Ring fitting weight probably 10st or 9st 7lbs.
