Schools are returning, most holidays are over and Autumn is fast approaching; A perfect time to re-set the mind, outline goals and affirm intentions. There is definitely a cool nip in the air!

Another new month to initiate a fresh start to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lb. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average a 1lb per week you’ll be at least a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄

Ps. @Whoevenknows79 Bananas are never bad! Totally agree with you re: moderation xxx

wiltingflower · 30/08/2023 20:39

SW 65kg
WOW 58.5kg
TW 50kg

Today has been a high calorie day due to seeing family but I went for a walk and run earlier and tried to eat healthily from what was available. Tommorow will be another high calorie day. I'll be back on my usual diet from Friday. I'm hoping today and tommorow's food intake won't mess things up. It's been really difficult getting down to 58.5kg and it doesn't look like it's made a difference visually, haven't gone down a dress size or anything really. I tend to look bloated in the tummy all the time which doesn't help either.

TheRealHousewife · 30/08/2023 20:42

Hi @wiltingflower It’s really frustrating we've lost weight but we feel we don’t look different. In regards to the bloating; do you think you have a food intolerance or not enough good gut bugs? Well done on getting your exercise in 👏👏👏

It does help! I think a place to come and share will help keep me on track and hopefully I can help to support others on their journey. I mostly cook from scratch too. My vices are wine butter and cheese! Essentially I know what I need to do, I just need to do it!

TheRealHousewife · 30/08/2023 21:02

@Whoevenknows79 Knowing what to do and putting into practice are 2 different things 😬. I think we can all identify with that.

Early night for me and Im off to bed. Been out and about more than normal and obviously caught a bug. Feel fluey, headachy and generally blaaaa. Supposed to have been open swimming too at the weekend. Fingers crossed I feel better!

I know! It's crazy thinking! And, as if Bananas are the reason I'm overweight! 😂

Abitwobbley · 30/08/2023 21:10

I’d like to join in too please 🙏
I lost 4 stone a couple years ago but have unfortunately put around half of it back on. I’ve very recently started a new physical job which also stops me snacking so much! Hoping this will help shift some of what I’ve put back on. I lost the weight before with exercise and high protein low carb eating.
Nice to meet you all 😊

Maddelight · 30/08/2023 21:42

Hi,
I would like to join.

Currently 60.5kg
Need to get back to around 55kg

A mix of baby weight, stress/depression and comfort eating rubbish I have put on the weight and struggling to loose. Most of my weight is around my tummy and thighs, I look awful as only 5"2 and my large tummy makes me me look pregnant.

I am determined to loose some weight, eat a little better and get out and about exercising more.

A mix of intermittent fasting some days a week and more exercise are my main aims. Also eating less chocolate and bread - that's my biggest weakness

Thanks 😊

Hi @wannadisc0 Lovely to have you back with us. Sorry to read about your health condition. To lose 4kg between now and end of October is very doable. You know what works for you so all that’s left is to just do it👍. Good luck!

Lovely to see some new joiners. Welcome.
I don't follow any particular diet. I just try to stick to healthy meals, limit what's in between and watch portion size. Mfp helps. I'm hoping for more of a boost in September. It's been slow going for a while.
Today's plan
B: apple & blackberry, nat yogurt, few oats
L: courgette soup, toast, plums
D: chicken supreme (pinch of nom), green beans, rapberries
Our allotment is producing well!

LemonDrizzle23 · 31/08/2023 10:19

This is the thread I need! School goes back on Wednesday for us, so not quite there yet, but will aim to start tomorrow.

I haven't weighed myself this summer - I will save that joy for Wednesday... Looking forward to some company and inspiration on this journey!

MamaGhina · 31/08/2023 10:23

Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife, I’m getting my place ready for tomorrow.

Whoevenknows79 · 31/08/2023 23:36

How's everyone doing? I've been doing well so far but am a bit worried about the upcoming weekend. Have a day date with my husband tomorrow and a party on Sunday. I dont want to undo everything I've done this week.

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 01/09/2023 00:42

Well, happy September y'all! School is back on Tuesday and Wednesday for my dc so that's when I'll be back into things properly. As from today I'm going to go ba into no eating after dinner. That's my first step. And remembering to eat lunch Confused
Lots of new names this month so welcome to the thread. You'll find it very supportive and encouraging of a healthy approach to long term loss. No fads, no drugs, no weird foods, no guilt, no judgement, just friendship and solidarity as we aim to give ourselves the gift of a healthier and slimmer body. Thanks to this thread I was something like 8.5 stone for my birthday back in June which was the gift I'd been trying to give myself for years. I've gained some back over the summer holidays but it will be gone by October if I stay on plan.
Let's do this!

PieFaceAndLovingIt · 01/09/2023 02:19

Starting weight 17 stone 10lbs
Target weight probably 100lbs weight loss, I want to be slim and strong again.
Pre-diabetic and in chronic pain, so will be starting a new and happier life in the morning 😍

Simplepink · 01/09/2023 06:15

Hello, this seems like such a lovely group 😊 I’ve got 2 stone to lose. I have a big birthday (and party!) coming up in the next few months but also have a lovely dad who is very big and now elderly/having problems moving because of his weight and I think this is becoming a big motivator for me not to go the same way as I get older. I need long term health solutions and this group seems great thank you 🙏

999caffeineplease · 01/09/2023 06:42

I’d like to join! I have 21kg to lose, which has come off in the past but over time has slowly crept back on now I WFH😔

so SW/CW 88.5kg
GW (Christmas) 80kg
UGW 67kg

I’m going to try 16:8 with high protein meals, and I’ve also looked out my Fitbit so will aim for 10k steps every day too.

DownUdderer · 01/09/2023 08:05

Hello everyone! Hello everyone from previous threads and hello everyone who's new!

I'm happy because I've lost a pound. I put on two pounds recently, from drinking wine and snacking mindlessly on chocolate, crisps and anything and everything! I was so mad with myself. But if course everyone was kind to me on the August thread. And I'm happy because I've lost those two pounds. I ate well this week. I planned ahead, shopped and thought before I ate. I also drank way more water than last week.

I like to have anything quite easy for dinner so I've had soup this week. Lovely. Easy. Quick. I've had some lovely salads this week too. I had small salads for an afternoon snack. I do so much better when I plan my snacks and when I had fruit or protein instead of chocolate and crisps! So if course when I plan ahead and buy easy bits that can be thrown together from the supermarket I do so much better.

I'm just 4lb from target. I lost a pound during August. So it's pretty slow going.

I walked about 7km today. Pretty nice walk, a bit drizzly though.

Whoevenknows79 · 01/09/2023 08:24

Really great you're thinking about your longterm health as well as looking great for your party. Sometimes we forget that element and it's actually the most important. I have diabetes in my family and would like to avoid!

Whoevenknows79 · 01/09/2023 08:25

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 01/09/2023 08:32

Morning all! I'm the wrong side of 8.5 stone but that will change soon. I have found it easy to maintain my target weight but the holidays and no walking at least 6 miles a day have had an impact. It always makes me laugh on threads where (usually the low carbers) are adamant that exercise makes no difference to weight. For me it makes a huge difference and the health benefits are important in terms of cardiovascular health not just weight loss or maintenance. Not everyone is the same of course. I really miss the fitbit bingo for activity challenges.
4 more days of holiday then back to routine but from today no eating after 8pm. I've reduced my sugar intake too but I'm still a dreadful sugar fiend.

Hope those weighing today are either happy or spurred on by the numbers. I'm spurred on ti make the changes that were in place before the holidays. Dd has requested pizza for lunch because she's not here for dinner. Homemade pizza so no preservatives or additives. I'd better go make the dough and take the sauce out of the freezer.

Have a great day and don't forget lots of 🍾 (that's water to the newcomers) 😁

MamaGhina · 01/09/2023 09:12

Morning all. I STS in August. Partly I’m ok with that as it was so hard to maintain any sort of food routine with the kids at home and all the days out and ice cream. Partly I’m annoyed as I was watching what I ate the whole month. Feels a bit like wasted energy.
Anyway onwards and upwards. Plan for September is to finish lower then I started!
