Schools are returning, most holidays are over and Autumn is fast approaching; A perfect time to re-set the mind, outline goals and affirm intentions. There is definitely a cool nip in the air!

Another new month to initiate a fresh start to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lb. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average a 1lb per week you’ll be at least a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄

Ad usual a day late for WOW:
CW: 75.90 kg

Slowly, very slowly, losing the extra. I may get down to 73 kg by Christmas 😂

However, I did succumb to my guilty pleasure of Christmas pudding and cream with a glass or 3 of red wine so what do I expect! 🙄

TheRealHousewife · 14/09/2023 11:21

You're welcome @GreenMonty 👍 You are absolutely right about 'nipping gain in the bud'. It won't be long until you are feeling awesome, healthy and wearing your beloved wedding rings again ❤️

@Karatema If you carry on doing what you need to do I'm sure you will meet the 73kg target (if not even lower) by Christmas 🎄 😬👍

Just giving your sweetcorn and orange pepper soup recipe a go @JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots while DS naps. Will take it for my work lunch tomorrow ☺️

ImALittlePea · 14/09/2023 13:18

Thankfully it seemed to be just the one bout of sickness yesterday @TheRealHousewife @WeirdPookah - doesn't stop the simple and unavoidable things (ie school run!) from being less stressful in the short term though.

Those mushroom pizzas look incredible @TheRealHousewife!

@GreenMonty @OrangeSpicedBun I agree - having a goal helps focus the mind.

Last night I was proud of myself - chef offered me some seriously good looking chunky chips, and I turned them down again. I also stuck to meal plan, with the exception of two wotsits which I pilfered from DD, haha.

Today's plan:
Lunch - was a cup-a-soup special
Dinner - homemade hunters chicken, chunky roasted potatoes, lots of greens
Snacks - one chicken nugget from DD's plate at playgroup this morning 🙈

Got a class lined up for tonight as well, and I've removed last week's leftover (unopened) wine from the fridge so I won't be tempted to have any.

Feeling so virtuous from all of that; I'd better drop some weight tomorrow now!

WeirdPookah · 14/09/2023 13:23

10 jars! Well, 9 decent ones and a small one testing what adding brussel sprouts are like in it.

I do now have yellow hands, and several tea towels are yellow!

Been for a short walk, as had a lot to do at home. Making the piccalilli took up most of the morning, so didn't have time to make the paneer curry sauce I meant to, but prepped vegetables for dinner to roast.

@Karatema getting into the festive spirit!!

@ImALittlePea that's good, well, you know what I mean! Temporary sickness is better than a return of travel sickness!

@GreenMonty welcome! I'm not being condescending (I am Autistic and sometimes my words don't come easy) but words have power, and talking yourself down isn't great for motivation, being unkind to yourself, using words you wouldn't dare say to somebody else... you deserve to treat yourself with kindness too.
Praising yourself for positive choices, by sharing them here, like your meal plans, or exercise done, is a far more kind way to approach things, and will make you happier than doing yourself down. People can join in with talking positively about the things you share then.

@DearRose I think that soup looks really nice too, looking forward to your review!

B: pinto bean burrito
L: homemade (from the freezer!) fishermans pie
D: roast vegetables, vegetarian not-chicken
iced protein coffee

Good catch WeirdPookah and thank you! I think it was an initial OMG from standing on the scales but as you rightly say - words have power.

I've just had CBT for anxiety but clearly there are negative cognitions hanging around.

I shall take your sage advice and will move forward positively!

I'm on annual leave ATM so I've just had a nice bath and am about to sort the house out. Was thinking positive body thoughts.

Hope everyone is having a good afternoon.

WeirdPookah · 14/09/2023 13:51

@GreenMonty I am SO glad you understood what I wanted to say. And really glad it hit the spot and helped. Here's to moving forwards!! ❤
I have a lot of cleaning to do tomorrow, focused on some batch cooking this week, but inlaws coming at weekend, so need to clean as the school holidays left the house decimated!! And I have a new hoover (oh the thrills here) so that should be nicely effective!

DomesticElf · 14/09/2023 13:55

May I join? Got about 20kg of baby weight to lose (second baby, got a toddler to run after too). I am not following any specific diet, just trying to reduce carbs and eat healthier.

Cudz · 14/09/2023 14:14

Please can I join? Wanting to lose just a couple more llbs to get me down to 9st 6lb where I'd then like to maintain at that weight. I'm so close to target (started at over 11stone towards the start of the year) but I just need that last push and motivation to keep me going (especially now the weather is bad again and it's so easy to slip back into eating comfort foods and wearing big, baggy clothes again!). Sounds like you're all doing fab ladies x

TheRealHousewife · 14/09/2023 16:16

Welcome to the thread @Cudz @DomesticElf Great to have you join us 👍

Oh my goodness @WeirdPookah those jars of piccalilli look absolutely fabulous 👌😋 Im sure you won’t miss a jar 😬 Only j/k

@GreenMonty Anxiety is awful (saying that as a fellow sufferer) Sending positive thoughts for it to stay at bay for you.

@ImALittlePea Thank you. If I say so myself they were very tasty 😋

Welcome @Cudz and @DomesticElf !

Does anyone have days in their cycle where they could eat absolutely anything? I’m just constantly ravenous and even though I’m trying to make healthy choices I know I’m going to go over my calorie allowance for today 😭

I don't now as I'm through to the other side. However I remember all too well the carb cravings and increased appetite! Fluctuating hormones have a lot to answer for! Hope you ride them out ok ❤️

Feeling so much more like myself again at last. I'm putting my weight here in kg. There's no point in being coy about it. Ideally I'd be half my starting weight, but that's extremely unlikely to happen. The sight of it in stones and pounds is a reminder of the previous times I lost then regained it all back.

In February I was 122 kg.
I'm now 114kg.
Total lost 8 kg.

That's less than my hoped-for rate of 2 kg monthly. Every so often, little extras creep in. Time to stop that.

My first target is to get below 110 kg. I'll be able to get into my too-tight jeans and tops at that weight. Should be doable by the start of the new year.

ImALittlePea · 15/09/2023 07:32

1.2lb down this morning ☺️ that's 1/4 of my summer gain gone. We'll be at the airport in two weeks time readying to jet off so I need to stay super focused now. Last night I was so stressed with the kids bickering constantly and a work rota issue cropping up, I was so tempted to quick-chill the wine and open it but I had a cuppa and 5 maltesers instead. Good choice win ✔️

Today is a bit topsy turvy as DH and I are going to a local theatre tonight but because of the timings of things I don't think we'll have time for dinner. So...

Lunch - 1/2 shop bought pepperoni pizza with some salad
Dinner - something quick, either a cup-a-soup or beans on toast or similar

Grateful for the college temp with the sun still shining. Feels like autumn. Just in time for the weekend and the strictly launch tomorrow! 💃🕺🪩

Happy Friday all ❤️

Well done on your loss ❤️. It's amazing how the weight measurement unit makes a psychological difference doesn't it?

GreenMonty · 15/09/2023 08:04

Well done too Imalittlepea - quarter weight gain down!

Using WeirdPookah's sage advice I'd like to report that I had porridge, peanut butter and strawberries for breakfast so that I had some protein.

I have swimming planned this afternoon.

DomesticElf · 15/09/2023 08:10

Thank you for the welcome!
@2Early4Breakfast I do my weight in Kg as well, for me it's more of a comfort zone.
Congratulations on your weight loss!

Step one this morning - swapped my latte for an americano/black coffee. I don't take sugar anyway, so at least there is that.

DownUdderer · 15/09/2023 09:05

I've been avoiding the thread for a little while. I've just read through and caught up on everyone's news.

I kept trying to look forward to a less stressful week. And then the following week would be stressful too. And then more stressful the following week. Just get through this week, I kept telling myself. But ARGH!

I'm just plodding along.

Things will even themselves out again, and I'll get my head back in the game.

Good morning lovelies

@2Early4Breakfast It’s great you’re feeling more like yourself 👍 You’re consistently chipping away at it and that will soon add up. Congratulations on the 8kg loss; that’s over a stone that gone poof 💨👍👏👌🥳 Now keep going, no matter how tough it gets 😊

@ImALittlePea Well done on your loss 👏 Have a great time at the theatre!

@GreenMonty Enjoy the swimming! Great form of exercise!

@DomesticElf I take my coffee black too. I actually prefer now. I can believe I used to have it will cream 😮 Far too sickly now.

Hello @DownUdderer Sorry to read about the relentless stress you’re feeling. Hopefully it will soon settle ❤️

Unusually for me in that my menu is exactly the same as yesterdays 😬 Which scrolling back I forgot to post anyway.

Menu
Meal 1 - Oats, sunflower seeds, raspberries, Greek yoghurt, semi skimmed milk.
Meal 2 - Spag bol with Brown Rice Pasta. Pecans.
Tea, black coffee & water water water!

@GreenMonty I can't wait to start out Friday porridge again, starting next week, wasn't up for in the heatwave! I love swimming too, but my local pool does a lot of school swimming, so the opening hours are weird. I should sort out going. I am far more successful when I can swim.

Feeling harassed, got lots to do, and now got to take shoes back after school as Clarks FINALLY got back to me when I complained. Not looking forward to driving through after school traffic to do so, but no time at the weekend. The horror of a kids party, then inlaws coming sunday so need to cook etc.

Done a lot of cleaning this morning, threw out some broken toys etc since nobody was there to see or stop me!

B: Yogurt, apple with cinnamon
L: Peppers, tomatoes, fried egg on seeded bread
D: Supposed to be tofu and broccoli, but I'll see what time I get back, how stressed and upset I am.

Well done on the losses this week, back to school has been good for some of us I think!

LemonDrizzle23 · 15/09/2023 16:44

@2Early4Breakfast I'm another one measuring in kg, as stones are too emotional! Sounded vaguely ridiculous in my head, so I'm pleased someone else feels the same.

I think this week has gone fairly well. Time of the month over, so feeling less bloated! Will be aiming to make some sensible food choices over the weekend, and getting some exercise in. Hoping to see a change on the scales on Wednesday...

What is everyone up to this weekend?

sayhellototheworld · 15/09/2023 17:03

Hello, can I join the thread, please?
I have some baby weight to lose, as I had my son almost 8 weeks ago. Before pregnancy I was 56kg, now I'm around 63.5kg and indulging in digestives, magnums and pringles way too much! I am back to workouts and really need to stop the mindless snacking, because I would like to fit my old jeans at some point, hopefully near Christmas haha.

wiltingflower · 15/09/2023 18:00

WoW was 57.9kg but today it's back to 58.6kg. I've had a flu jab Wednesday afternoon and had Nandos with work on Thursday which might be why.

I tried to eat less on Thursday at Nandos or eat mindfully, I've tried to be mindful that my weight fluctuates everyday, it's not really the same daily, so I'm not too disheartened by the 'gain', it's good to be maintaining a certain weight I guess.

Tommorow I'm going out with friends so not too sure how food will work out but I'll continue trying to keep to an appropriate portion and then carry on with the usual healthier diet afterwards on Sunday.
