⭐️LOSE IT! JUNE 2023 SUMMER SIZZLER⭐️

Summer is here and holiday time is upon us! A new month provides the opportunity to embrace a re-set and refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9.5st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back mainly on track. Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

We all went out to eat yesterday. It was extremely lovely. A real treat. I ate, and enjoyed my food. I'm mostly better again now.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 08/06/2023 10:56

Weighing in at 127.2lbs this morning and have decide to fast ahead of dinner out tonight - really excited about it.
Gosh I have just realised DH and I have been married half my life - never mind how long we have been a couple.... crazy!
I digress anyway as I am prone to doing. On the days I fast, only 22:2, i still drink as much tea wit milk as I fancy so not overly depriving myself.
Bound to be up a bit tomorrow but I can live with that.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 08/06/2023 10:59

Ah I missed the end of the thread. Very glad to hear it @DownUdderer Here is to everyone having a great daySmile

MercurialMargot · 08/06/2023 11:06

Thank you for these threads I have lurked on them a long time. I lost 10kg last summer (jul-oct) and maintained through the winter. I finally feel ready to lose the next 10kg. (I've got a total of 25kg to lose still (originally 35kg overweight 😳) before I'm in an ideal healthy weight). I don't know why I cannot make myself diet in winter, I need the sun!!

Last year I managed through fasting and changing the way I cooked. This year I'm hoping to introduce more exercise to improve overall health and have started with swimming and yoga three times a week.

My trouble is I work night shifts and have small children so live with extreme sleep deprivation and am time poor but I am finally prioritising myself and paying for the childcare needed to allow myself some self care. 🤞 For just as much success this year and to continue my improving lifestyle.

greenspaces4peace · 08/06/2023 15:22

Welcome @MercurialMargot
as a (retired) nurse I did many many night shifts. Yup 100% blame it on weight challenges!

ThreeRingCircus · 08/06/2023 20:42

So I lost 1lb this week which I'll take! I was hoping it would be more but it's moving in the right direction, albeit slowly! I really wanted to have lost 2lbs so I could hit my first stone lost but I know I'll get there.

SW: 14st 11lbs
CW: 13st 12lbs
GW: as my next goal I want to be in the 12st bracket by the time DDs break up for the Summer holidays at the end of July.

greenspaces4peace · 09/06/2023 04:30

not good choices from 2pm-5:30 tomorrow's another day. dh was not home at his usual time, so rather than me eat dinner i nibbled on cheese until he showed up for dinner (which was ready and in the oven). but i thought if i ate the dinner i would still eat more once he showed up?? at the time all the usual tricks just didn't come to mind...
on a positive front;
water
multivits
weigh-in
and exercise
the actual 3 meals were nicely portioned and a good mix of fruit and veg.

Bikechic · 09/06/2023 07:42

@MercurialMargot im impressed you've kept the 10kg off all winter. Well done.

Ninjachicken · 09/06/2023 08:01

Morning all, so I am maintaining at 60,8 kgs this week. I think I could easily have lost but I have not been making good choices. The sun has finally arrived and I have been picnicking by the lake near our house and not watching my carbs or alcohol intake.

i am working all weekend so I am going to concentrate on making healthy choices.

welcome @MercurialMargot i have found that fasting has really helped me. It makes you much more conscious of what you are eating so it stops me mindlessly picking.

todays food:
L: banana cocoa smoothie
D: something with chicken. And an aubergine that needs eating!

have good day everyone

ImALittlePea · 09/06/2023 09:27

Morning gang! Sorry I've not been up to date with the thread, I'll try and catch up if I can today but the littles are just being very full on. Cheers and hugs being sent in equal measures to anyone who wants them, and big waves to any newbies!

My WoF - up 1/2lb. Still under my target weight, not altogether unhappy with a slight gain. Got holiday in just under 2 weeks so will be as focused as I can be to give myself a decent margin if I can.

Week has been ok choice wise, considering it's been a bit tricky emotionally. I'm glad my slip ups have been the occasional biscuit rather than opening any wine. I've got a trial for a new job early next week as the current place has proven itself to be very unprofessional and run by nasty people - I can't continue to stand by and watch as the owners treat people the way they do, so hopefully this works out 🤞

The sun is out in my corner of the country, FINALLY. It's still cold for June (I was in my blinking Oodie the other night) but feels like it's warming up at last.

Happy Friday lovely losers 🫶

AutisticLegoLover · 09/06/2023 10:07

Morning all. I keep forgetting to weigh and we are still on half term here so my routine is out the window with lots of things I wouldn't normally eat. I really need to rein it in. If I miss my yogurt lunch everything goes awry. The school run from Monday will boost my metabolism again and I'll drop a couple of pounds easily.
I'm really behind on the thread and need to catch up.
Hope everyone that's here is enjoying the UK weather. It's due to hit 28 here tomorrow and that's never good for my asthma or equilibrium. I'm too fair to enjoy the heat. 20-22 is perfect for me.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 09/06/2023 10:39

Sacre bleu! 3lbs up this morning after our dinner out last night. Dinner was fabulous and I did not hold back with my choices.
I am telling myself it's not a real gain as I surely couldn't have eaten/drunk over 10000 calories in a few hours....
Heading out to Kew Gardens for a few hours which should ensure a good step count for the day.
Will weigh in tomorrow and hope that the scales look better.

MercurialMargot · 09/06/2023 10:49

@greenspaces4peace yep you hit the nail on the head. Nursing is excellent for fitting in round small children but the toll on the health is huge.

@Bikechic thanks, my husband is very keen on staying slim and healthy meals so I don't have a bad influence in the house. I'm the bad influence 😬

@ImALittlePea massive congratulations on the new job. Nothing worse than a nasty work culture. All the best with your new start.

ImALittlePea · 09/06/2023 13:29

Wow that's hot @AutisticLegoLover we haven't hit 20 where I am yet, I don't like it as high as 28 but 22-24 would be nice right now! It's the wind where I am - still really cold! Grrrr.

I've heads great things about Kew gardens @Was126orbustandmaybebust we're a little way away but might venture there for a day trip in the summer holidays. Enjoy! And yes, I'm sure the gain is bloat and will be back off in a jiffy!

Thank you @MercurialMargot I haven't quite got the job yet but relatively confident. I feel bad that I'll be letting the other waiting staff a little in the lurch, but ultimately that's not my problem when the owners are so toxic and nasty. Got to put myself first. Oh, and welcome btw!

greenspaces4peace · 09/06/2023 13:56

35C here yesterday, in the 30+ for a couple/few weeks running.
we have a dry heat which makes the situation tolerable.
i’ve yet to put the A/C on but might tonight. Our older pup was ++ restless and insistent on sleeping in the grass.

DownUdderer · 10/06/2023 04:09

I'm refocusing today. I weighed in this morning and I'm up. I was shocked actually. One week of being loosey-goosey with my eating and I guess I've got some bloating. I'm going to really drink loads of water today and flush out my system!

One evening I was in a mad dash to get dinner on the table so we had hash browns and bacon. And we ate out one evening at a couple of evenings I've had alcohol.

I'm not too worried. I can be more mindful this week. Starting with a focused day today. I can cope when I just think about one day at a time.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 10/06/2023 09:04

Good news: 1lb down on yesterday
Bad news: 2lbs up on Friday morning.
Meal was worth it an Kew Gardens was fabulous yesterday.
Due to be 29 degrees here to day so morning tea in the garden and thoughts of what healthy but great tasting food I can put into my day....
Well done on the refocus @DownUdderer I am trying to do the same.
Fungers crossed for you @ImALittlePea
I love the heat but 35 @greenspaces4peace would be about my maximum and I would fancy a nap about 2pm.

greenspaces4peace · 10/06/2023 23:39

@Was126orbustandmaybebust it's a bone dry heat and so more tolerable than most places that get hot.
but i agree it's not easy to be motivated to exercise and naps are very tempting.
cloudy the past 48 hours and currently loud cracking thunder right over head. thankful for every drop of rain that has come with the clouds.

DownUdderer · 11/06/2023 01:15

I had a pretty good day yesterday. I did refocus. However I'm the same weight today so that's disappointing. I think I'm disappointed and annoyed and focused and unfocused all at the same time!

I want to plan and be organized but also I'm open to making the best of whatever situations happen today. We've got a long weekend this weekend and we often go out to eat so I try and go with the flow. Enjoy some things but try and balance it with eating better during the week.

I do feel disappointed and I try to feel my feelings but also give myself a pep talk and keep myself balanced. I try anyway! I don't want to jack it all in and bury my head in the sand.

ElfDragon · 11/06/2023 09:37

It has been a busy (and hot!) few days in the Dragon household.

I lost focus a little and a couple of extra snacks started creeping in, but I’m trying to be aware and get back on top of that.

The heat has helped slightly, in that I generally don’t want big meals when it’s too hot, but of course the danger is then that snacks start looking tempting, so I’m trying to stick to regular meals, even if smaller ones.

weighed in this morning at 79.7kg, so that’s my first goal achieved! Aiming for under 79kg next. Small goals help me keep focussed, and not get discouraged (ultimately, I want to aim for around 68kg, but I know I’ll get demotivated that it isn’t happening overnight, so keeping goals small and achievable)

Thats 3kg lost in total now, in just over 2 weeks. I’ll take that.

AutisticLegoLover · 11/06/2023 09:51

Refocus you say...
I've been off the rails with sugar this past week. Weight is stable at no more than 55kg. I thought I'd gain significantly considering what I'm eating. I've noticed that eating later in the evening instead of doing IF has left me feeling sick by 9/10am if I'm late getting up and wanting sugary things like sweets. I'm also bloated although that's not been helped by a delicious pub lunch of pizza, chips and ice cream yesterday. It's been a lovely 2 weeks off but I'm ready to get back to routine from tomorrow.
It was 28 here yesterday and is set to be 27 today with a hot week ahead. Those 10 miles a day are going to be challenging.
Off to catch up on the thread now.
Don't forgot lots and lots of 🍾 in this heat!

Weatherwax13 · 12/06/2023 02:59

Just been catching up on everyone's posts. Day 5 in France 🇫🇷 today and so glad to be here. My son's anniversary yesterday. I'm all cried out and exhausted but I made it through.
Settling into a holiday rental for a few days now so I'll have some space. DH and I were arguing so it's a good thing all round. We're in my favourite part of the country now so I'm looking forward to some long walks this week.

Groutyonehereagain · 12/06/2023 04:03

We’re going to Spain at the end of August. My holiday wardrobe doesn’t fit and I need to lose a stone. I know it’s doable but I just can’t get started. I’m full of good intentions but I can’t get going. Any tips anyone?

greenspaces4peace · 12/06/2023 04:29

my menu although not heavy had salt, so I’ve not weighed in over the weekend.
4.5mile hike today and hoping the scales reflect the work I’ve put in the past 12 days.
fluids and multivits ✅
welcome @Groutyonehereagain
@Weatherwax13 my dd lives near Grasse she’s a daily hiker/walker

AutisticLegoLover · 12/06/2023 06:47

Morning all. Here's to a great week! I'm glad to be back to routine although getting up early is never great.
@Weatherwax13 Flowers
It's due to hit 29 today and that will be a struggle on the hilly school run this afternoon.
Porridge is prepping as I drink my tea. I'm debating swapping to Greek yogurt, fruit compote, chia and honey for breakfast but then I'd not know what to have for lunch. I really want ti cut down on ultra processed foods where I can. Grocery shop delivery later today with lots of Greek yogurt and salad things. I've had a salt and carb heavy weekend and it shows on the scales this morning although I'm still hovering around my goal weight. Water will be plentiful with it being so hot. I've a small loaf of bread baking in the oven for the dc's toast this morning. I had leftover dough from the pizza and Dd especially loves homemade bread toast.I roasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds yesterday for a snack for Dd and me. She thinks they taste like popcorn so that's a win.

Have a great day and drink copious amounts of 🍾 if it's hot where you are.
