⭐️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Morning all. Meant to post yesterday but was utterly wiped out all day - very weird. Think I feel a bit more normal today, albeit off the back of both kids plus the cat waking me up several times in the night 😏

So I did get takeaway Monday, a small chicken shish kebab with salad and small chips. Not great, but better than a whole pizza plus chips which I'd normally have.

Yesterday:
Lunch - normal (which for those who don't know as I stopped writing it out weeks ago 😂 is a cup-a-soup, lots of veggies - tomatoes, cucumber, pepper - a cheese triangle and 3 x crispbreads) plus a spoonful of l/f red pepper houmous that needs to be eaten up
Dinner - corned beef hash and beans, followed by a small bowl of angel delight made my the kids
Snacks - I think four cups of tea, loads of water, and 3 strawberry fizzy lances

I didn't calorie count but my gut is all of that is under my calorie limit. I need to get back into the MFP tracking; if I get a chance later I might retrospectively input for the day.

Today I'm going to try and get DD out while DS is at school. Got the food shop to do and some Big Birthday admin. And working tonight.

Meals:
Lunch - normal
Dinner - small jacket potato, cheese omelette and beans or salad

Morning all. Nicely bloated since yesterday for some reason and a wowless wow of 55.1kg. I'm not bothered by a 150g gain because it's a natural variation and with a period still awol for 20 days who knows what's going on.

10.54 miles walked yesterday and I ate more than my usual calories. Yesterday I earnt my Fitbit Great Wallbadge which is 5,500 miles since getting my Fitbit in June 2020.

Hope everyone has a great weigh in today and that those with bastard scales find they are behaving better.

1.5lbs down this week. Changing the course away from weight gain, which is nice. In a week that included a takeaway and a bank hol weekend, I'll take that! Definitely the no evening snacking has helped.

Almonds for snack if hungry. Hopefully a better week next week. Hope you're feeling better @ImALittlePea . Well done on the walking badge @AutisticLegoLover I'm going to try and get a bigger walk today. Hopefully I can sneak out without the dog seeing me put my shoes on. He prefers a leisurely pace sniffing every blade of grass and stopping to chat to every bloody dog and human he sees. Drives me mad! I'm clearly not as sociable as he is 😂 Good luck WOWers x

I'm pleased this morning, a 2lb loss (despite bank holiday buffets and the snaccident cake!) That makes a total of 10lb lost in the last month. NSV yesterday as well when I saw a friend and she commented that I'd lost weight.... I'm doing this for me but it's nice that she noticed!

SW: 14st 11lb
CW: 14st 1lb
GW: 11st (but a mini goal of getting into the 13s..... hopefully next week.)

Food today:

B - coffee
L - greek yoghurt, blueberries and raspberries
D - flatbread topped with avocado and a fried egg

Morning all, @ImALittlePea i was also wiped out yesterday, so much so that I forgot to attend a course I’d signed up for and ordered pizza for dinner (although had enough sense to get a wrap-thing for me and not a whole pizza).

Sadly a gain for me too this week, which I’m not surprised about. My attitude to food has shifted this week, and I’ve felt it was ok to eat all the Coronation cakes and drink all the wine (and order pizza!!), which it clearly is not! Once again, I’m returning to MFP to retrain my eating.

I’m not too surprised as it’s that time of the month and I drank a lot of Prosecco over the weekend.
Yesterday I was still eating chocolate but I did the first 30 day shred video and feel motivated to get back on the wagon now. Onwards and inwards!

I think the coronation weekend got to a lot of us. I was at a dedication (like a christening) on Sunday and the mum is a really good baker. I had 3 cakes! 😳

I'm going to class today as the official start of my weight loss journey.

Mini Goal weight: 10st13 😄 I like focusing on one 1lb at a time.

If it's time of the month then that may account for a lot of that 4lbs, I know my weight really fluctuates around the week of my period.

I ate out for lunch today and I just thought I'd have what I wanted and enjoy it and the scales can take a running jump! I'm so annoyed with them! I really enjoyed the food. And I wasn't hungry at all during the afternoon, whilst I'm normally feeling starving. I also had quite a filling dinner.

I hope I'm not throwing the scales out the window tomorrow morning.

I cooked an extra chicken breast this evening so I can eat it tomorrow, perhaps a salad or something. But I think I need more filling protein at lunch.

Hi @4LeafClover21 - never too late to start. The only bad thing you can do is put if off until tomorrow/next Monday/January.
So I am up a bit after the long Coronation weekend - I will shed it soon. Weekend was super so......
I will post my weight whatever it is tomorrow.

Well, I've just put on my favourite cardigan from last summer. It was a vinted special and I love it. It was snug-ish last summer. Snug on the arms and I never did it up bar one button. It's baggy as anything now, It's a great NSV but I'm really sad it no longer fits. Daft i know! Ill see if there's a smaller size on vinted and sell this one.

What's for dinner tonight? I haven't a clue what to have. Maybe pasta. i treated myself to an iced finger last Thursday from
the local bakery where my grandmother used to buy them for me. It was delicious and I want another one. I think it's lovely that 40 years later I can still get the same item from the same bakery. The price is now crazy. I got ds one too and my mum a little tart and it was £5!

Ahhh iced fingers! I remember them being about 45p 😂

hope you find a replacement same cardy! Love a NSV but it is bittersweet when loved clothes become too big! Sadly in my experience it’s usually loved clothes getting too small 😂

Hello all. Surprising loss this week, considering I went to a coronation party and ate cake. Delighted to see I'm down 1.8 lbs.
SW 163.8 lbs
CW. 162 lbs
TW 147 lbs

I've set myself a mini goal of getting below 160 lbs by the time my friend comes to stay in 2 weeks time. Fingers crossed!

Like someone upthread said, cutting out evening snacks has helped. I've also stopped using Flora on toast, sandwiches etc. If I feel it needs some spready stuff, I use a thin spread of fat free Greek yoghurt. Was going to use Laughing Cow extra light but can't get any round here atm.

It's good to see we're all doing well and staying positive despite the bank holiday weekend!

It is no surprise that I failed to lose anything in my first week on this thread due to takeaways and trifles featuring rather more heavily than anticipated. Still, I didn’t actually gain any weight so that is a positive.

Oh also my goal weight is 10 stone. But interim goal is 10st 11lbs- I’ll be over the moon with a stone off. I feel like I’ve lost the same 5lbs 10 times.

Anytime is great to start! Hi @4LeafClover21 @Hibernatalie 👋it feels good to mentally make the decision to start looking after yourself :)

I am having a frumpy day where I wish I was further along with my weight loss. I am wearing trousers that a little too big with a belt, but as my waist has only just started to emerge I still feel a bit round - like a telly tubby with a belt on!

Have booked in for a yoga class tonight and at 8k steps so far.

Anyone got suggestions for a little tweak to push myself a bit further this week on the weight loss?

I'm in a shitty mood with my scales. I may even have called them a bastard at 7am. No Coronation celebrations for me- MFP everything, everyday 1000-1200 cals max- and I didn't even lose the 1lb I put on last week, I stayed the bloody same. 🤨

I'm soooooooo pissed off. I celebrated 2 weeks ago with a half stone loss, now I'm still at 6lbs. I'm so bloody sad my stupid body is holding onto this peri-meno weight. Not had a period now in about 10 weeks - first time I've ever varied from every 28 days in my life- so it's the start of something. Maybe it's that, maybe the God's are telling me I'm meant to be a 'cosy, chubby mummy' (DS3's words) in a size14/16 forever.

Others gaining does make me feel better, though, so I don't feel so alone. Had a rough day yesterday with DS3 (asd/ adhd) so being kind to myself and not beating myself up. A positive is that DS2 sat his Higher English yesterday (most hated subject) and he came out happy- August will see if that's justified, but at least I'm off the hook from cajoling/ tutoring as the other subjects are not my speciality!

Onwards abd upwards losers.

Not the best start as stayed the same this week. I should not have picked the week of the coronation to start! I blame the king.

It has made me realise I don't make healthy choices when I'm out. I'm trying to understand the psychology of my eating to try and break bad habits for good.

My focus this week is to stop unhealthy snacks.

I got to 10.5k steps today + 45 min yoga class.

@Puffalicious do you mind me asking what age you are? I’m 42 and am wondering if I have some peri symptoms including slower weight loss. My cycle length is slightly shorter and I get much more intense PMT symptoms.

Time for a cup of tea :)

It happens to ALL of us, sometimes even when we've followed our eating plan to the letter. I know how disheartened you are and I really , truly sympathise. But please try to draw a line under this week.
