⭐️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Wednesday weigh in
SW 88.8 kg
CW 75.1 kg
TW 74kg
Feeling much better about myself since I cut the snacking out again. 0.7kg lost this week so if I keep going I may now realistically hit my target before the big overseas trip. I was in absolute despair a few days ago. It's been hard to change my mindset yet again as I'd really fallen off the wagon and had that "oh fuck it i give up" feeling .
Hope that gives some encouragement to anyone who's struggling atm. I think it's about forgiving yourself and find a way to bring yourself back. For me it's jeans I very much want to pack as I'm travelling light and have this one pair that would suit all situations. So that's my motivation this week.
I know from experience that a NSV is an awesome feeling.

Puffalicious · 10/05/2023 22:25

Well done Weatherwax and thanls for the words of sympathy. ❤️

Superdashmama I'm older than you at 51..I count myself lucky that I've avoided the really horid symptoms so far- many friends have had a rotten time- but I do think that the rapid weight gain and much harder loss is down to peri.

DownUdderer · 11/05/2023 00:29

I really enjoy reading everyone's updates especially when they completely align with my situation and feelings!

The scales are still being annoying. I was completely over it yesterday. Then today I tried on my jeans and took a photo and I can see they fit much better! I can't quite sit down in them comfortably yet, I guess they're high waisted. I think I'm less bloated because I haven't lost any weight. I think my bras are feeling less pinched as well.

bonnie199 · 11/05/2023 07:35

Missed WOW so weighed today after a heavy weekend of coronation celebrations!
SW 10st 3.7
CW 9st 7.9
TW 8st 13

Need to keep up the water intake today - I struggled yesterday and went to bed with a headache so must try harder today! Have a lovely day everyone x

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 11/05/2023 07:40

127.4lbs - which is 0.2lb lss than last Friday which doesnt dound like much of an achievement but when i weighed in on Tuesday after the bank holiday I was 4lbs heavier! It was a great long weekend but quick on then quick off again.
I did a 20:4 fast yesterday which was perfect to shed the last bit.
Onwards and inwards.
I am so impressed by people's achievements on here - we will all get there in the end and even if we stay the same for a week at least we are not gaining weight.
Onwards and inwards troops.
Off for a walk to try and lose a bit more!

FaeWings · 11/05/2023 07:42

That's great @DownUdderer when you can see the difference in the fit of your clothes. I'm looking forward to my bras feeling more comfortable!

Yesterday was a good day for me. Had smaller portions for lunch and tea, and did an hour of walking in the hills.

Today I'm making a chicken and asparagus pie that will be calorific (its been a recipe I've wanted to try for ages) so going to try and eat very lightly until then. And will do a walk/run this morning.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Ninjachicken · 11/05/2023 08:00

Small loss on the scales this morning so I am now at 61,8 kgs
i would like it to be more but it’s better than nothing!
food yesterday was a banana smoothie for lunch which is around 300 calories as I add oats to it
then chicken baked with mozzarella and cream cheese with a side salad for dinner

today will be a smoothie again for lunch and then I have dinner at the in laws so I really need to stay on track. I do not want the whole weekend to be spent trying to get rid of a gain due to one night. But we shall see, my willpower to say no when there is booze and yummy things to eat is extremely low!

i hope everyone like me who is struggling to lose sees a loss soon
going for a dog walk now, have a good day everyone

Piglet89 · 11/05/2023 08:37

10 stone 1.25 lb. So 1.5lb on over the week. Need to seriously start putting the work in and stop making excuses.

DivaRainbow · 11/05/2023 09:01

Sorry never post for WoW yesterday as I felt sorry for myself with awful PMS.
SW - 79kg
CW -78kg
TW - 69kg

I have gained 0.01kg but not going to dwell as I know I eat more around my period.

Congratulations to everyone to lost and those who didn't this is a new week.

TheRealHousewife · 11/05/2023 13:32

Good Afternoon

Hope everyone is ok👍. Congratulations to all our fabulous losers and a massive well done to all those carrying on who have Barrstards for scales!

We’ve come away for a few days and signal is patchy so see you all next week ❤️

Away again this week but jumped on scales before I left home on Tuesday! I could have cried! The weight I lost last week has slid right back on and I've gained a few grams from my starting weight!

ImALittlePea · 11/05/2023 20:56

Sorry to see so many of you have rude scales this week 😬 it's so bloody hard not to let it get to your mindset, but remember it isn't all in vain; even if the scales are being bastards, the efforts your making will still be benefitting your health in some way.

And well done to everyone who lost yesterday 🥳

I was in a rotten mood yesterday and really struggled at work last night. Very strange. Had a long nap today when DD slept, and did my dance class tonight which seems to have boosted my mood 🤞

Meals:
Lunch - normal, plus the last of the houmous
Dinner - salad with lots of lettuce, tomato, spring onions, half an avocado, chicken breast, and a small portion of roasted newies, and some Caesar dressing. Followed it up with some greek yoghurt and pomegranate

Might have had the last of the fizzy strawberry lances after class with a decaf brew, but I feel like I've generally been pretty on the ball with saying no to snacks and whatnot this week. Weigh in tomorrow, hoping my scales are in a better mood than last week! 🤞

Superdashmama · 12/05/2023 06:43

I find my weight loss is not linear. Sometimes it stagnates for a while or I feel like I even put weight on and then suddenly it will noticeably drop. So, everyone with the rude scales this week - keep going and you’ll probably see a loss soon :)

Two days of a high-ish step count (10 -12k) + yoga classes has led two amazing nights of sleep.

Yesterdays food was;
2 boiled eggs
2 black filter coffees
minced beef, chickpeas, beetroot & brown rice
walnuts + 2 dates
2 dark chocolate rice crackers
lentil soup with broccoli, avocado & cabbage + carrots

I’ve been making this cabbage slaw type of salad which is super cheap and filling (and good for me I hope?!). It’s red cabbage finely sliced with grated carrots and a pinch of salt + a drizzle of apple cider vinegar.

ImALittlePea · 12/05/2023 07:22

My scales and I are friends again, a loss of 1lb this week. So I'm now less than 1b from (what I think is) my target 🥳 happy days. I'm now more hopeful that I may hit that for DH's big party next week (only for it to be undone 😉)

Weekend wise, we've got a party tonight but only going for an hour as we're taking the kids, I'm working a 12 hour shift on Sunday, and I'm undecided as to whether to have my Saturday night wine. I know if I don't I'll be much trimmer overall coming into the celebrations next week. Overall it's going to be a better weekend diet-wise than normal either way.

Happy Friday lovely losers 🫶

FaeWings · 12/05/2023 08:01

Congrats @ImALittlePea ! Glad your scales are being friendly again!

Yesterday wins: did a walk in the morning, my snack was 1 square of chocolate

Yesterday misses: had a large pie portion for tea, and a whisky last night.

Going to do the food shop today. And think today's exercise will be a dance party with DD

conspiracyoflemurs · 12/05/2023 10:14

Morning all. I've been weighing myself daily and logging on the Noom app. I'm back down 2lb from yesterday. Do you think it's just fluid retention? Doesn't seem to make sense. Made chia pudding with almond milk for breakfast. It was like eating frog spawn (not that I've eaten frog spawn) Is this what it should be like or is it just my rubbish culinary skills? Think I might just sprinkle it on food instead. Have a good weekend everyone ☺️

AutisticLegoLover · 12/05/2023 10:14

Well done on the losses!
I'm giving protein shakes to see if they help my hunger for snacks. I have a day off today so I'm having a leisurely cup of tea before getting on with my jobs.
Have a great day everyone!

AutisticLegoLover · 12/05/2023 22:57

Poor food choice of an almond croissant today that took me to my calorie limit. I'd got some for my mum but they were on offer. Bastards. 473 calories. Both best before tomorrow too. No one else likes them either. So today has been:

B: porridge, chia and golden syrup and tea
Mid-morning: tea and protein shake made with no sugar soya milk
Lunch: Greek yogurt, berry compote, honey, chia
Dinner: almond croissant, tea.
1560 calories. No room for a proper dinner so I'm lying in bed cross with myself and my stomach is rather vocal about it. However I have not smacked at all today. No sweets, crisps, biscuits, ice cream or ice lollies. Not even a snackajack! 10 miles walked. Water drunk.

Question: does anyone count their tea/coffee/juice in their water allowance or do you just count the actual water drunk by itself? I only count the water drunk by itself . I'm amazed by those who say they drink 3 litres a day. I pee for England on 1 litre and 2-3 cups of tea a day. There's a cup of milk in my porridge, yogurt and fruit is high in water, soup is high in water. It's a lot of water in total so to add 3 litres of drinking water would be huge.

AutisticLegoLover · 12/05/2023 22:58

*snacked. No smacking either 😁

DownUdderer · 13/05/2023 02:22

I fried some salmon yesterday, yum. A nice big portion of protein at lunchtime and dinner time really seems to suit me. Keeps me full.

Superdashmama · 13/05/2023 07:33

@DownUdderer yes! Same salmon always seems to fill me up and stop snacking.

@AutisticLegoLover I drink about a litre of water plus tea / coffee. I feel terrible if I drink more water… water toxicity is a thing - my mum ended up in hospital very ill with it once.

I had a day off with the little one yesterday and it we were celebrating something so a bit of an indulgent day;

2 boiled eggs
Flat white + giant cinnamon bun!!!!
lentil and broccoli soup
walnuts + 1 rice cake
Poached cod + potato wedges + slaw
almond, lemon polenta cake + cream!!!

Having a milky coffee + a pastry is probably the most treat food I can have because I love them but they make me instantly gain half a stone! :)

DownUdderer · 13/05/2023 08:34

@TheRealHousewife I hope you're having a lovely weekend away

FaeWings · 13/05/2023 08:35

@Superdashmama wow that cake looks really good! Hope you enjoyed celebrating!

I promised DD that we could make marshmallow squares today so I will be having one indulgent treat today.

I've got lots of home and gardening jobs to do today so should be quite active to make up for it.

AutisticLegoLover · 13/05/2023 09:19

Morning all.

54.65kg this morning! That's 120.48lbs or 8st 8.48lb. Happy day!

Today will involve plenty of walking with ds's swimming location. It's a beautiful day so we might get the bus to further away and walk the leisure trail to the pool, take a picnic and whatnot.

Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.

Interesting about the water. Maybe it's competitive over-watering by some posters-not on this thread-similar to the competitive underrating.

@TheRealHousewife I hope the weather is as lovely where you are as it is here ☀️

Weatherwax13 · 13/05/2023 17:46

Weight loss disaster this weekend. Went with DS and his GF (who I strongly suspect will become DIL) to spend the day with her family. I went armed with a metric ton of baked goods and firm intentions not to eat them myself.
She has an enormous extended family ALL of whom had baked/cooked.
I'm pretty good at politely declining things but this was on another level! Scrutinised by several - very kind - elderly women and there was literally no choice but to eat what was offered. Many of them had little English and the generosity was so lovely it would've been impossible to say No when I couldn't explain why I didn't want everything. And they were all delighted with what I'd brought so it was kind of the way we got to know each other.
I absolutely dread to think how much I've put on. I know it's a lot as I'm really, really bloated. Sooo much sugar! We ate non stop the entire day. I feel like I'm going to pop.
So on the plus side the meeting of the clans went very well. Lovely folk and my lot behaved themselves. On the minus side I predict a minimum of a kilo up on the scales tomorrow. Which is upsetting as I'm running out of time to reach GW as we leave for the Big Trip in less than two weeks. The things we do for love!
