⭐️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Saturday Morning Burn GIF by Denyse®

I forgot to add I hope everyone enjoys their weekend even if not partaking in the Coronation Celebrations ❤️

@ThreeRingCircus @DownUdderer The same has been happening here. Eat well during the day, but can easily consume 500 calories of chocolate sat on the couch in the evening.
I've stolen one of my husbands fiddle toys to play with in the evening to keep my hands occupied. Giving up what has become the normal feeling of constantly moving hand to mouth is weird.

Fara22 · 06/05/2023 07:17

@TheRealHousewife enjoy the coronation! My son has been learning all about it at school and can't wait!

ImALittlePea · 06/05/2023 08:17

Yes I'm hopeful it will come @TheRealHousewife having said that, last night's chippy tea certainly won't have helped 🤦‍♀️😂

Well done on the losses @AutisticLegoLover @Was126orbustandmaybebust @Karatema (and I hope you feel better soon!)

Today is a new day @TooEarly4Breakfast don't beat yourself up (see above re: my chippy tea!)

Lovely pic @Ninjachicken enjoy the gardening this weekend! I'm hoping the forecast for Monday improves so I can have a potter in mine.

Wishing posters with exam-bound children all the luck! @Puffalicious and I'm sorry - I can't remember who else 😬

Absolutely so true about snacking @Fara22 @ThreeRingCircus I used to be a serial grazer (not a cereal grazer 😉) but I've managed to break the habit. I do snack over weekends sometimes but I honestly don't feel the need any more - I don't feel the need to respond immediately to the feeling of hunger like I used to, I just have a cuppa or glass of water instead now. Makes such a difference now.

I've managed over 10k steps over the last three consecutive days now, and working today and tomorrow so should hit it again for the weekend which will help offset weekendy decisions. Planning to have a version of my normal lunch today, and we've got a nice pizza in the fridge to have tonight with homemade chips.

Enjoy the coronation everyone who is watching it. It's really not my thing, although I'd watch it for a sense of history if I were at home. Alas, I'm working.

AutisticLegoLover · 06/05/2023 08:21

Good morning all! I've done it!

Sorry, my phone hadn't updated so I missed the posts plus I was rather excited at the numbers on the scales.@ImALittlePea chippy tea for us today. It's not a crime so please don't beat yourself up about it. If you were having one regularly every week then it might all add up to sabotage your progress or certainly make it harder to meet your targets but once every now and again is fine. Life's too short, enjoy the good stuff 😊

@Karatema hope you are feeling better.

Ds is back to his normal full of energy self now.

@TheRealHousewife I love all the pomp and ceremony too and the uniforms. I'm a big fan of uniforms. It makes me feel quite emotional seeing all our glorious traditions. Being British is a shameful thing at times so big celebrations like today are extra special and something we can enjoy without any shame hopefully. Although there's the cost of it all that brings discomfort. I'm no fan of cheating Charlie or horsey face but this is a historical occasion of the highest order. My daughter loves horses so that will be her only interest I think today. That and eating the scones and all the nice things at my mum's house.

We are gardening today after I helped my mum spend her money at the garden centre earlier on the week 😆 She's got gaps the the front garden that need filling and there's some lovely plants to put in. I'm also making her a sweet pea teepee.

Seeing as it's another bank holiday and one of celebration we shouldn't worry about diet or weight but enjoy and have a reset on Tuesday begins getting back into the swing of things. How many coronations are we likely to see in our lifetime after all. Enjoy!

I have clotted cream for the scones. I don't think I've ever had it but it wish they'd change the name as it makes me feel queasy. Butter and jam for me.

Have a great day and if you drink 🍾 be sure to drink lots of our version of 🍾 too 😃

DivaRainbow · 06/05/2023 09:07

Last night was my first night shift ( Since I have decided enough is enough and its time to lose weight)and I really struggled especially come 3am and went to the venting machine for some crisp and coke.
Going to pre pack a healthy snack box for tonight

ImALittlePea · 06/05/2023 09:08

Wahoo! Well done @AutisticLegoLover!

Oh don't worry, no beating myself up over here about one dinner. Two weeks today until the big party, I'm determined not to gain any more and to de-bloat as much as possible, but as you say life is also for living and we had a lovely family evening out while having this tea, so all good!

Puffalicious · 06/05/2023 11:41

Amazing 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 AutisticLegoLover that is such wonderful news for you. Hard, hard work got you there. Revel in that feeling and have the clotted cream - it's fabulous (my dad was from Devon, so my Devon family have always had it ready with scones when we visit).

Confirmed Republican here- we're all different- but lovely weather up here so pottering today and hopefully a bit of decorating tomorrow and Monday. DP doesn't have Monday off- loads of folk up here don't- but I'll be off with the kids and feed the revising teens nice food and take DS3 out somewhere.

Have a great weekend all.

AutisticLegoLover · 06/05/2023 13:07

Thank you! I couldn't believe it the scale said 54.9! I had 2 lotus biscuits with my first cup of tea whilst waiting for my porridge in celebratory rebellion.

The scones have just gone in the oven. Dd has cold hands and is the chief pastry and scone handler. And eater too. She's patiently waited through the coronation to make them.

I'm not a big royalist but I do love the pomp and it's historic.

Superdashmama · 06/05/2023 20:42

Also, very much a republican here. It made me sad how much attention and money was spent on this with so many issues with the cost of living crisis!

I used the long weekend as an excuse to visit my mum. I’m working most of it (shout out to all the freelance self-employed parents juggling all the bank holidays this month!).

My step count always plummets when I visit my mum as she’s quite old and needs some help with chores etc. The kids are still quite young so it’s a juggle.

My food today;

porridge for breakfast
Beans and eggs on a sour dough toast for lunch
salmon teriyaki with broccoli &cabbage

I took the kids out for an ice-cream this afternoon as they had been so great with entertaining themselves while I worked this morning. Soooooo, had a double scoop on a cone myself 😊 Was lovely 😋

@AutisticLegoLover congrats!!! 🙌 I feel inspired :)

Citygirlrurallife · 06/05/2023 23:39

@AutisticLegoLover that’s brilliant! Huge congrats to you

i had an inadvertent low calorie day today but stuck to 16:8 so feeling a bit ahead of myself ready for some food truck fayre at the town fete tomorrow..

greenspaces4peace · 07/05/2023 01:23

TheRealHousewife · 07/05/2023 08:25

Good Morning

Did everyone enjoy themselves yesterday no matter what you did? We had a lovely day; I thought the state event was quite emotional at times. I particularly filled up when William swore allegiance to the king and kissed his father 🥲 Also all the pageantry gets me too!

@greenspaces4peace That looks like one fine quiche! 😋 Perfect in fact! I bucked the trend and made individual ones. I tinkered with the recipe as I didn’t fancy spinach in it and forgot to get the beans. I put some Taragon in my gluten free pastry and the filling was sautéed broccoli, leek and onion with cheddar cheese. Mine were on the rustic side 😬 Trying to post photos but they won’t attach … I’ll try again later.

@AutisticLegoLover Nice graph ‘rubs thighs’ 😬

All these quiche photos are making this vegan very jealous and very hungry!!

Ninjachicken · 07/05/2023 11:44

i just wrote a long message and mumsnet glitched and I lost it before I could post. First time that has happened to me!
i will try to redo:
well done @AutisticLegoLover thats my goal weight too! Very inspirational and a massive achievement for you!

lovely looking food @TheRealHousewife and @greenspaces4peace

your food sounds really tasty @Superdashmama . I made some sourdough this morning so I may have some for lunch with some mushrooms

just saw your last post from April @ImALittlePea thanks!!!!! Glad you enjoyed your chippy tea, I can’t get them here which is probably a good thing 🤣

i feel stuck at the moment. I need a whoosh. I have a mini target of 60.5 kgs which will put me into the healthy bmi range. Then heading for under 60 kgs 😬 it just feels annoying when you are eating and drinking so little but yet the weight still comes off so slowly
onwards and inwards. 🍾

AutisticLegoLover · 07/05/2023 12:47

Thank you 😊 I really need to tone up. My belly is a jelly mound that's been chopped up and reconstituted into a roughly rounded shape. I've been briefly looking at some photos of this is me at 55kg all wobbly and this is me at 55kg looking all toned. Some are scarily muscular and not how I'd want to look and I haven't the time or dedication needed. I have a gym ball, a set of dumbbells and a skipping rope and will see what I can do with those. I'd be happy just to have a toned belly and slightly better arms. To diet the jelly away I'd need to lose another stone and that would give me a BMI of 18 and that's just crazy so hello toning time. I'm not quite sure how to do it but I'll see what I can access online and go for it. This might be harder than losing weight!

Those quiches look great! I wish I could eat egg based things but they made me queasy even though I like the taste of things like quiche and egg mayo.

Yesterday was good. @TheRealHousewifei teared up when William kissed his dad too. Catherine looked so regal and beautiful. The cloaks were stunning. I wasn't too keen on Charles' gold dressing gown and curtain. I did lots of gardening and baking at my mum's and made mini scones that were delicious. I had 3 of those, no cream, and about 3 handfuls of chippy chips. Porridge for breakfast of course and 2 digestives before bed at nearly midnight because I was really hungry. I missed my Greek yogurt lunch a lot and that's probably why I was so hungry late on. All in all I was below my allowance.

Gardening today at my house to get my sweet peas in a teepee and get the petunias and lobelia in. I live summer bedding plants.

Have a great day whatever you are up to!

Weatherwax13 · 07/05/2023 21:19

Reading all the posts on snacking and it brings home how well I was doing with that and how I've completely lost my way with it now. I'd really got to the point where I didn't miss snacking at all. Kitchen closed after dinner and really enjoying a healthy lunch the next day at the end of the 16 hour window.
I've been reading up on self sabotage and the reasons behind it. My issues are emotional eating and the influence of DH who's fallen off the wagon and I'm allowing him to pull me off. That's on me as I have to think "ok you feel bad about yourself DH but it's not right that you need ME to feel bad about myself to then make yourself feel better ". IYSWIM
So...I've looked at my Wednesday weigh in notes since i started in January and reminded myself of how easily I was losing when I wasn't snacking. Weekly numbers sometimes falling only a little but consistently falling nonetheless.
I'm going to refer to those notes every time I'm tempted as I think that's a really simple way to get my motivation back.
So thats my essay!
And huge well done. All your amazing work has paid off @AutisticLegoLover

Citygirlrurallife · 07/05/2023 21:36

@Weatherwax13 you’re totally right. Im
still working out the balance as I’m quite hungry late in the evening but I think that’s just becauseI’ve stopped having a free for all so my body is getting used to not being fed every 30mins after I have lunch. Ended up with a tight eating window today just because we went to a fete where there were no vegan options at all so I had to wait to get home to eat and was then ravenous. Had a big salad and then struggled ti
keep
my face out of the snack cupboard so had a protein heavy early dinner at 6pm and closed the kitchen. My body now just needs to understand that 9:30pm snacking is not going to happen. Def helps that I’m not drinking at the moment in the evening….my self sabotage button is well and truly hit after 2 glasses of wine

Weatherwax13 · 07/05/2023 21:55

I think at first habit is a big part of it too @Citygirlrurallife

I remember feeling ravenous 9.00p.m when I first put a stop to the evening snacks. After two weeks it didn't enter my mind any more. Really liberating.

I broke the habit but have now succumbed to complacency. Ugh!

Also very glad I don't drink any more as I don't think any of us have any will power after glass no 2!

Bikechic · 07/05/2023 23:41

Also big well done to @AutisticLegoLover on achieving your goal.
I have a NSV to report. Today I am wearing the jeans than have been too small for ages. Woop woop.

Autumndays22 · 07/05/2023 23:50

@Bikechic great NSV! One of the best in fact. I can’t wait to wear my jeans again.
@AutisticLegoLover amazing achievement with your weight loss, well done!
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend celebrations

DownUdderer · 08/05/2023 03:27

I'm feeling frustrated that the scales haven't moved for 5 days. Sometimes you just need the reward of even a small loss to keep the enthusiasm going. I feel like I'm on the ball with what I'm eating all day every day, I have to pre-plan and shop and cook and all that baloney and it's disappointing when the weight doesn't want to shift!

I know we're all in the same boat! I know I just need to be consistent.

Really well done to everyone who's meeting goals and getting close to goals. Well done for all NSV's.
