⭐️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

@Weatherwax13 Sounds like the meeting of the future in-laws went very well. Just think, you will never get that first meeting moment back. You can, however, lose that kilo in the future. Take heart. Some things are just more important!

AutisticLegoLover · 13/05/2023 23:44

@Weatherwax13 that all sounds far more enjoyable and important than a weekend of restriction. It's just one weekend, it won't negate all your efforts so far. Don't worry!

We had a lovely walk today in the glorious sunshine. Clocked up just short of 8 miles in total and stuck to my eating plan. A day of gardening tomorrow and hoping the sun comes out again.

Weatherwax13 · 14/05/2023 02:27

Thankyou for those lovely words. You're absolutely right of course. Some things are far more important!
And I stepped gingerly onto the scales just now and I've only gained 100g 😆

@AutisticLegoLover @Autumndays22

DownUdderer · 14/05/2023 06:46

@Weatherwax13 sometimes we have to roll with the punches, you tried to make everyone happy and enjoy yourself without being "out of control", I guess we all just try our best in any "eating out" type situation.

I've grazed on a few snacks today, I find one or two planned snacks on the weekend can keep me going for the whole week. It's a massive improvement on my previous snacking habits.

Superdashmama · 14/05/2023 07:09

@Weatherwax13 it sounds like what you gained were some lovely new connections and a nice family time. It won’t be too difficult to make up for any small weight gain over the weekend.

FaeWings · 14/05/2023 07:45

Sounds like a really special day @Weatherwax13 and that your DS must be very happy the day went so well!

I had a bit of a treat day yesterday too. Made marshmallow squares with DD and they are very moorish!

We'll be meeting my parents today for a pub lunch after church so need to be prepared to be self controlled. I'm thinking about having a children's roast dinner.

Ninjachicken · 14/05/2023 07:59

Morning all, so a slight loss this morning at 61.5 kgs. I am getting nearer my mini goal of 60.5 kgs 🤞🤞
food yesterday was lentil dhal for lunch and Thai curry with a side of courgettes rather than rice
today: lentil dhal again, then chicken of some kind for dinner, maybe wrapped in Parma ham and baked
i walk the dogs every day but I do need to start doing some strength training again
@Superdashmama that cinnamon bun looks amazing!!!! Definately worth the calories!
@DownUdderer i love salmon too, it is really filling, and very versatile!
@AutisticLegoLover for me it depends on what the drink is. I would not count coffee or juice but I would count herbal tea. I think water wise I probably drink between a litre and a litre and a half a day.
@FaeWings children’s portions are a great idea! I often do that at wagamamas (when I am visiting uk)
@Weatherwax13 you definately did the right thing there. I would have done exactly the same, people connect through food! Sounds like a pot luck type thing, I want to know what you made??? 😋
have a lovely Sunday everyone

ImALittlePea · 14/05/2023 08:33

Ahh that's lovely to read about @Weatherwax13 and I'm glad the impact today wasn't as bad as you thought!

Sadly I don't think I'm brave enough to weigh ever again today after falling MASSIVELY off the wagon yesterday 🤦‍♀️ so much for avoiding carbs and salt as much as possible before the party next Saturday. Went to a little family party Friday night, planned to be sensible, ate a proper dinner beforehand etc but just couldn't stop grazing on pizza slices, bread and cheese. Had too much wine (and mixed wines too, which I never ever do), felt ropey as hell yesterday, and we ended up having Greggs, McDonald's, crisps, and then bloody takeaway pizza in the evening. FFS. I still took the kids to their clubs and stuck to all our plans, and had an early night (and obviously no wine), did a decent number of steps and had an early night. Kicking myself this morning but can't undo it now.

Today, I'm working from mid morning until close tonight, so I'll be on my feet all day which will help mitigate a little of the damage. And obviously there was no wine last night and won't be any today (there would normally be wine opened on Saturdays and quite often Sundays too), so that will also help (hopefully).

I'm now super focused on the upcoming week; although I know I can't be 100% on plan all week as we have other plans for the big birthday that fall before the party, I'm going to do everything I can around that.

Meals:
Brunch (pre work) - making myself a veggie cooked breakfast; two Linda McCartney sausages, two poached eggs, mushrooms, beans, one hash brown
Dinner - will be fed at work, probably carbonara or similar pasta

Happy Sunday all!

AutisticLegoLover · 15/05/2023 06:50

@ImALittlePea consider it a weekend of indulgence and park it in the vault of last week. Today is a whole new week. You can do it.
@Weatherwax13 stress not see? All will be fine, just carry on as normal this week. Your stress levels are huge with what you have going on so be kind to yourself and enjoy the happy times.

It's a beautiful morning here. Let the week commence. It's hopefully going to be a good one for us all.

Weatherwax13 · 15/05/2023 06:59

Thankyou, I appreciate that so much @AutisticLegoLover
There's certainly a lot going on here. Much positive progress and I'm tentatively unclenching but I think my stress levels are going to take a long time to come down properly.

Weatherwax13 · 15/05/2023 07:02

💗 thanks all:)

Such a lovely bunch all of you

FaeWings · 15/05/2023 07:32

Lost the plot yesterday. Our church served Indian snacks after the service yesterday to celebrate a Baptism and I couldn't resist them. So then I had a curry at the pub.

Then we had a movie night and scoffed so many pringles.

Then drank half a bottle of wine.

That's undone last week's progress. So back to square one for me today

DownUdderer · 15/05/2023 07:57

I've had a nice day walking today. I had sushi for lunch, yum. And hummus and carrot sticks for a snack. Hummus call be so tasty if you find a good one! I might have eggs for dinner tonight, so easy and filling.

Yesterday I told myself I wouldn't weigh myself this morning, but then I went ahead and weighed myself anyway. Sometimes I think I'm weighing too often, but I just want to know if I've lost weight!

ImALittlePea · 15/05/2023 12:45

It most certainly was a day of over- indulgence @AutisticLegoLover but what's done is done and we can only move forwards!

Yesterday was on plan, so a tick in the box there.

Today's plan:
Lunch - cup-a-soup special
Dinner - cottage pie and LOADS of veggies

And lots and lots and LOTS of water 🍾

TropicalMoon · 15/05/2023 17:08

Hi 👋🏼

I’ve been reading lots of the thread & feeling very motivated today.

Abit about me, I’m a mum of 2. I have a 3.5 year old and a 4 month old baby. I’m busy & pretty active looking after 2 young children but I don’t do any ‘proper’ exercise, other than walking.
I am the heaviest I have ever been at 13 stone 5. I would like to get back to 11 stone.

I’m breastfeeding, so can’t go on a restricted diet but I do want to eat more healthily and make better choices. I’m hoping this approach will lead to slow & steady weight loss.

I have a very big appetite due to bf and struggle to feel full.
I also tend to reach for convenient, quick snacks (usually sugary ones) so I’ve given all sweet treats away and Dh is being very supportive & said he won’t buy any either! I’m not the type of person who can just have 2 squares of chocolate, it’s better if I just don’t have any. All or nothing, I guess!

Day one is going well so far.

A 45 minute brisk walk this morning.
Breakfast - porridge with honey, chia seeds and raspberries.

Lunch - an omlette with spinach, feta mushrooms, pepper and tomatoes.

snack - x2 satsumas, some dates

Dinner is slow cooked chicken curry with rice

I’ve been drinking plenty of water.
(definitely guilty of not drinking enough most days)

Greeting Good Morning GIF by Hello All

Hi Everyone ❤️

Had a lovely time away; too lovely as weight is up. Not too worried as I know it will come off again albeit not as fast as it went on! I’ll try to catch up on thread later.

Welcome to the thread @TropicalMoon and congratulations on your new baby! I totally agree that it wouldn’t be a good idea to do anything restrictive. Try to have more protein, fibre and healthy fats to keep you full and satiated. Also stay hydrated and have ample water.

Welcome back @TheRealHousewife
Glad you has a lovely time:)

Autumndays22 · 15/05/2023 21:34

Welcome back @TheRealHousewife , glad you had a lovely time away!
Welcome to the thread, @TropicalMoon , good to have you on board. It’s so tough finding time for yourself to exercise or eat well with small children. Great that you have a supportive husband. It makes all the difference!
My youngest is now 3 and is no longer happy in the running pram for long enough for me to run. So I have to find other pockets of time to exercise. Good luck with your healthy changes!

TheRealHousewife · 15/05/2023 22:12

Thank you @Weatherwax13 & @Autumndays22 👍. I’ll be pleased tobe back into a regular routine.

Morning all and a welcome to the new people joining us. Another glorious morning here. A sunny morning makes everything seem better.
I have been dreadfully bloated since the weekend and nothing is moving on the scales or otherwise. Hopefully it will right itself soon. The only thing different I've done is eat quorn cocktail sausages. We took them on our picnic on Saturday and then had them for dinner on Sunday made into a little snack plate kind of dinner with cheese, grapes and a couple of ritz crackers. Oh and I had a protein shake on Friday and one yesterday so it could be that or a combination. Either way my body isn't happy and I've had a lot of pain too. Still no sign of AF now and it's been 26 days since it was supposed to appear.

More gardening to be done today at my mum's. I did her back lawn yesterday and will do the front today. A bit of extra exercise and that's always a good thing.

Weight wise I seem to be gaining and losing the same 200g this last week. I'll get there eventually.

Hope everyone has a great day and isn't dreading tomorrow like I am. I'm sure I will see a gain this week.

Fara22 · 16/05/2023 07:19

I'll be interested to see weigh in tomorrow. After a weekend of eating out and drinking (nothing too crazy) I noticed my weight ballooned on the scale, but has come back down again. I'm not expecting a loss, but I don't think it will be a gain.
All the extra salt etc can make such a difference for a few days! It's crazy! Spent yesterday drinking lots of water and it all seems to have been flushed out...

Welcome back @TheRealHousewife and hello @TropicalMoon!

ThreeRingCircus · 16/05/2023 07:33

I'm dreading the scales tomorrow as food choices have been all over the place over the weekend and it's now my time of the month which always seems to put on a few lbs to the number on the scales. I'm determined to get back on plan though, I feel so much better when I eat better.

Today's menu:

B - coffee
L - tomato soup
D - roast chicken and loads of veg

Citygirlrurallife · 16/05/2023 07:57

Apologies I haven’t posted in ages as it was my birthday weekend and everything went out the window. Countdown to our Italian holiday though and I’m freaking out so am aiming for 4:3 on fast days….. not looking forward to a weigh in tomorrow

FaeWings · 16/05/2023 09:05

Morning!

Started getting back on track yesterday, though still not as strict as I would like. Biggest achievement was dragging myself out for a walk in the evening when I really wanted to curl up infront of the telly. Ended up taking DD for a walk along the river and we actually had a great time and even ran/jogged part of the way round.

Hoping if I am disciplined today I still have a chance of seeing a small drop on the scales tomorrow.

reabies · 16/05/2023 12:35

Hello everyone, I'd like to join if that's ok.

My baby turned 1 last week and it's made me realise I haven't 'just had a baby' for a while now, and these extra kgs are still hanging around! I'm about 15kg heavier than I'd like to be. Previous lifestyle changes (about 5 yrs ago) saw me lose 10kg in just over 6months, so I'm hoping if I can make similar changes now, then I'll be in a much better place by Christmas.

The plan is 16:8 fasting, starting today. My eating hours will be 12.30-8.30 so I'm just off to make myself some lunch now. I'm also massively hoping to up my water intake as there are some days where I drink none, which is definitely not ok! I know I need to eat healthily within these 8h, but I'm not great at calorie counting or logging food, so I'm hoping the time restriction will do its thing and we see some results. Also aiming for 45 mins cardio 3x a week. Fingers crossed!
