⭐️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

I‘m very late to the party but is it ok if I join in too?

I don’t have much to lose but am fed up of losing then putting back on the same 3kg! Something always seems to come up that disrupts my progress and I end up falling off the wagon. Next up is this weekend- it’s a holiday weekend where I live, and I have a 4 day weekend. I don’t want it to turn into another excuse for a binge!!

I‘m late 30s with two young kids and work part time. I did 16:8 a while ago and actually liked it, should start again!

Height- 5‘ 6“
SW- 65 kg
CW- 63 kg
GW- 59.9 kg 😉
UGW- 57 kg

TropicalMoon · 16/05/2023 15:18

Thank you for the welcome @TheRealHousewife @Fara22 @Autumndays22 😄

Yes, it’s more difficult to slot exercise in these days! I just make sure I’m walking everyday, most days I manage 10,000+ steps.
I’ve started dong floor exercises where I can to help strengthen my core. Dd even joins in with me sometimes whilst baby ds watches from the bouncer with a bemused look on his face.

So far today I’ve walked with the dcs to my Ma & pas house, it’s a half hour walk each way. App says I’ve done 7323 steps.

Food intake:

Breakfast - scramble egg and avocado on toast

Lunch - Sushi with salmon and tuna
an apple, banana.

A Costas small latte

Some melon

Dinner tonight is beef stir fry with rice

Superdashmama · 16/05/2023 19:04

Here’s my crazy diet today as I was at a conference. I should have taken some healthy snacks (next time!)

2 boiled eggs
2 brownies
1 cookie
1 packet of crisps
1 mini cream cheese sandwich
1 black filter coffee
1 flat white

I got home and tried to redeem myself with dinner choice;

baked cod
cabbage / carrot slaw
stem broccoli
potato wedges

Tomorrow is a new day 🙊

I’ve also been feeling tired for months and wasn’t sure if it was just kids + work etc but decided to chat to the gp who sent my for lots of blood tests and it turns out my vitamin D is low. I take 600ui everyday but she suggested taking 2200ui - will start tomorrow with this. I’m hoping this will give me an energy boost and hopefully I can exercise more. I had cut back a bit because of tiredness.

I’ve had an average 11k step count in the last 7 days 🙌

ImALittlePea · 16/05/2023 19:33

Evening all! Hello to newbies! Welcome back @TheRealHousewife!

Today's been another good day food wise:

Lunch - normal
Dinner - spaghetti bolognese (homemade sauce, smaller portion of spag) with a dressed side salad and sprinkling of parmesan

Having to be very mindful as the big birthday is on Thursday, so there will be cake and dinner out. And the party Saturday. I'm going to weigh Thursday am, and possibly then Friday and Saturday too. I'm now working Friday night (should have had the weekend off but they're desperate, and it's a calculated uptick in steps (and wages) plus less consumption on the wine front. So a double win there.

Tried outfits on tonight, think I feel confident, but hoping I don't bloat out by Saturday night!

TTFN chums ❤️

Citygirlrurallife · 16/05/2023 19:43

@Superdashmama loving your conference diet!!!

have closed my kitchen on 535kcal for a fast day:
blistered shishito peppers
applewood vegan cheese and lettuce
vegan cassoulet on a massive pile of spinach

trying to pay attention to being thirsty and therefore def upping my food intake. This on the dog on 3 walks just to up my step count 😬

AutisticLegoLover · 16/05/2023 21:30

Evening all, I'm also loving the randomness of the conference diet!

I really need to up my veg. For a vegetarian I'm rubbish with anything like green leafy veg or cauliflower. I like mushrooms, peas, sweet corn, carrots, potatoes, parsnips, mange tout, sweet peppers, sweet potato, baby spinach, salad leaves, beetroot, olives, cucumber. So actually that's quite a lot but I rarely eat any which is daft. Must try better. That should be my next mission in the last month of being slim for my birthday. I'll happily add mushrooms, sweetcorn, peppers and spinach to pasta dishes but I'm not an on the side person. I'll have to think about this and make an effort.

Usual foods for me today. It's nothing if not consistent 😬 I've had another protein shake but I'm really not convinced it's any better for my hunger. I've found oatcakes equally effective to keep me going between breakfast at 7.30am and lunch around 2pm and they at least have much needed fibre. My poor insides have ground to a halt with the resulting creeping up of the scale. I need some dynamite! The GP called me today to follow up from when I saw her in March and she wants to do a shed load of bloods. I think she's doing her GP rotation as she was very eager to sorbs lots of NHS money testing me for all sorts and giving ne a full MOT. Thank goodness I've lost weight and now don't need to feel ashamed when I stand on the scales. I used to refuse or tell them not to tell ne my weight. Ive told her the bowel habits changed after covid and with my diet changes. Just less bulk going in basically because I no longer live on bread and large portions of pasta. I think I last ate bread 2 weeks ago if not longer. I can't talk to anyone IRL about all these tests so I hope you don't mind ne saying about them here. I'm a little worried but trying to rationalise that I'm fit and healthy, eat reasonably well, don't drink, don't smoke, am very active, am veggie and haven't eaten meat or fish for over 30 years so my risk of any kind of gastrointestinal cancer must be low. I've just got a slow gut from lack of bulk and need to up the fibre. I hope that's it anyway.

In other news, someone I haven't seen for a while passed me today on the school run and commented on me "looking lovely and slim." Normally I hate it and she's been one in the past to ask if I've lost weight when I haven't so I used to feel uncomfortable about it. But today she was so friendly and happy and positive about it and that made the difference. It was a real boost in a 20 second chat on the school run. She's a lovely person anyway and tends to have a sunny disposition no matter what is going on but she said it in such a nice way and that all the walking was making me very healthy and slim. She's someone that naturally lifts you up. Other people who have commented have had that suspicious look about them when they have said anything about my weight. It's like they are wondering how I've done it and aren't too happy about it. So weird.

It's nice to know a few of us are dreading the scales tomorrow but let's hope they decide to behave and not be bastards 😁

Sleep well everyone.

AutisticLegoLover · 16/05/2023 21:31

Sorry that was a huge post Blush

DownUdderer · 17/05/2023 05:57

I had two drinks Monday evening. I hadn't had alcohol in weeks. I felt so much hungrier the following day! I could have easily eaten non stop, I didn't, but in a different world I would have done. It's not just the extra calories in the booze is it? It's the extra snacks that can come with it!

I'm cooking a chicken this evening and I guess maybe tomorrow I'll make chicken soup with some leftovers.

I had prawns yesterday, so yum.

ImALittlePea · 17/05/2023 06:32

I decided to WoW today, to assess the damage from Saturday in lieu of the upcoming plans. Was fully expecting a gain, but have somehow LOST!? 1.4lb??? WoooooW!

This takes me over the 2st loss mark since I started in Jan 2022. Absolutely thrilled, but also under no illusion that it's very unlikely to be a long term maintenance weight.

Weight loss is WEIRD sometimes... No rhyme or reason! I have been super on the ball since stupid Saturday, but still?!

Anyway, I'm going to hop on daily from today until Saturday now.. and then maybe avoid for a fortnight 😂

Today's plan:
Lunch - samey samey
Dinner - jacket potato, omelette, beans (pre work)
Snacks - none, but lots of tea and water 🍾

Good luck to WoWers today 💪

AutisticLegoLover · 17/05/2023 06:50

@ImALittlePea that's excellent news, well done! You've joined the 2st loss club with me 😃 Sometimes I think the extra calories are good for us and stop our bodies holding on to everything because it thinks we are in a famine. We use extra calories to process the extra food and if you averaged the last 7 days out you'd probably see that you're still close to your usual.

A wow of 54.6kg this morning. That's a 0.5kg loss since last Wednesday and I'm now 100g from my goal. This last but is soooo slow. 100g is nothing I know but I really want to see that number on the scale.

Hope everyone sees their hard work reflected on the scales today.

NothingTraLaLa · 17/05/2023 07:24

Well done on your losses ImALittlePea and AutisticLegoLover!

I’ve been fairly good on the exercise front, with three gym trips in the past week and more walking. I think portion control still needs a bit of work, although I have seen a small loss this week which is better than last week’s static figures.

SW - 128 lbs
CW - 127.4 lbs
TW - 119 lbs

Autumndays22 · 17/05/2023 07:39

Well done on your losses, ladies. 2 stone is a life changing amount!
Wow today for me:
SW 13 st
CW 12 stone 3.5 lbs
Initial goal weight 12 st by end of May (I am going to have to up my game!)
I am on day 6 of 30 day shred. I needed something to get me back in the mindset after the coronation weekend. I WILL do this!
Hope everyone gets the WOW results they want to see today 🤞

Citygirlrurallife · 17/05/2023 08:27

Wow 2stone is incredible and I think there’s no reason why it should be sustainable @ImALittlePea seeing as it’s been a steady decline over 16months

WOW for me today and not much of a loss at all but considering my dramatic initial 2Kg loss was because I had food poisoning the fact that I’ve kept it there I think will do me for now

SW: 65.95kg
CW: 63.35kg
GW: 61.6kg

@Autumndays22 great reminder about 30 day shred, I haven’t done it in years but might be the perfect thing to get back into store this beach holiday with the gays in 6 weeks!!!

buzzofthebumblebee · 17/05/2023 08:27

2 stone loss? Amazing @ImALittlePea - and in time for your party! Very well done. Hope you wear a very big smile - you deserve to.

Sneaking back to say quick hello after taking some time out. Got myself into a self-judgmental negative spiral (in life generally). A jolly good wobble and I'm feeling a lot better.

So much so I braved the scales 1st time in 2 weeks this morning. Happy with what I saw. Scales did say 10 13.5 but thought it too good to be true. 2nd hop on was 11.0. Either way, my blip from beginning of the month has been lost, and I'm feeling more myself again, work stress calming down (but still there - urgh), and consequently more in control of what I am - or rather not - eating & drinking.

I know I want to get down to 10 10, but not stressing. Given I started out at 13 2 I've done pretty well !! To be honest, I'm actually struggling with clothes fitting as it is, another 4 lbs will definitely take me under a size 12 but too big for a size 10. I'm happy where I am and dead proud that at my old age (50's) I can head out for a 10 mile run on a sunday morning !

Yet to catch up on the thread - but a big wave to everyone. Keep up good work!

Citygirlrurallife · 17/05/2023 08:27

Sorry @ImALittlePea i mean SHOULDNT be sustainable

Bikechic · 17/05/2023 08:50

Good morning. Just been catching up. I've said it before, but I find it encouraging to read of how everyone makes mistakes and then picks themselves back up and carries on. That is actually so key to this.
I've eaten a few extras this week, especially while watching eurovision and yesterday treated myself to lunch at my favorite Thai street food joint.
But - I left some mashed potato on my plate!!!! That never normally happens. Big achievement.
Amazingly I've achieved another 1lb loss which means I've lost 1st in total.
CW: 11st 2

FaeWings · 17/05/2023 08:51

Congratulations @ImALittlePea !

SW: 11st
CW: 11st
GW: 9st7

Sigh, I think I'm going to have to work harder on the exercise front. And not lose the plot on Sundays.

instantpotnoodle · 17/05/2023 09:07

Well done on those losing at WOW. I slept so badly last night then had to drink a big glass of water with my meds first thing so going to do WOT this week. Im a week before my period so not expecting anything!

Superdashmama · 17/05/2023 10:00

Despite the crazy conference food and my period being due I managed to fit comfortably into a pair of trousers from a few years ago. Happily wearing them today :)

Well done on everyone’s losses and efforts so far. All the little bits of effort eventually add up.

Doorydoor · 17/05/2023 10:16

WOW- first one 😊

SW 65kg
CW 62.5 kg
GW 59.9 kg

Down 0.5kg since I last weighed (last week?). I‘ll take that!

Currently cooking a big batch of lentil soup to help me through the next 4 days off work (which would normally be an excuse for a bottle of wine with crisps every night to celebrate the occasion 🙄)

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 17/05/2023 17:55

Down 1lb since last week! While is practically no change since the end of February, but maybe this is the first week of a new trend. I'm pretty pleased as a lot of calories were consumed at the weekend.

Today

B - boiled egg with toast
L - soup, fruit, tomatoes, pepper, humous, bag of skips
D - will be veggie bolognese

Exercise - 30 mins reformer Pilates rehab this morning. Got out for 20 minutes walk at lunch time.

ThreeRingCircus · 17/05/2023 18:21

Well, I'm not happy with the scales today as I'm up 1lb but realistically I was expecting worse as it's time of the month and I didn't have a great weekend food-wise. I'm trying to shake it off and just re-focus.

SW: 14st 11lb
CW: 14st 2lb
GW: 11st

Today's menu:

B - cranberry juice
L - ham and tomato sandwich
D - chicken salad

Ninjachicken · 17/05/2023 20:20

Evening everyone
i am going to weigh tomorrow as I have had a couple of nights off plan due to visiting a friend in hospital and a night at a friends house. I drank a bottle of wine last night 😳
feeling it today but I am not going to let it derail me like I normally would and use it as an excuse to continue eating badly
i do have a party this weekend though so I will be having another day off

it is a four day weekend here too for most people but I am working tomorrow and Friday

massive congratulations @ImALittlePea and everyone else who has lost this week

Superdashmama · 17/05/2023 20:22

I made some spiced roasted pumpkin seeds today and it was so easy. These made a boring salad quite yummy!

Recipe; pumpkin seeds, paprika, salt, chilli and tiny bit of brown sugar mixed together with a drizzle of coconut oil - 8 mins in the oven on 180C (fan oven).

My food today was;

2 boiled eggs
4 squares dark chocolate
2 cups black filter coffee
broccoli, avocado, chickpeas + feta + toasted pumpkin seeds (above)
a piece of gouda cheese
salmon teriyaki + rice + miso soup
raspberries

i did a 45 min yoga class + 12k steps.

AutisticLegoLover · 17/05/2023 23:18

@Superdashmama roasted pumpkin seeds are delicious! I used to make them along with sunflower seeds and salt them. I might give your recipe a go.

13.6 miles today and 1475 calories. I ended up doing a couple of hours gardening today including a fair bit of digging and planting.

We are off to the seaside for the day this weekend and I will finally get my big ice cream in the beach beach. I've been looking forward to that for weeks. Our usual restaurant has changed the menu so it looks like I'll be having chips. I really like chips when I go out but the halloumi flatbread was amazing so it's disappointing they have take it off the menu and not replaced it with anything that I can see. Ah well.
