I've set up a new thread because I'd just lost track of the last one and well .. we all love a fresh start dont we?

For accountability purposes, I've put back on all the weight I lost last year. Every single lb

Currently a chubby size 14 and well, I'm not happy about it

I don't know why I lost focus but I do know I really really want to get back on the horse and I'd love to see my old pals on here

Anyone welcome of course / let's do this!

1st weigh in and I've lost 6lbs so I'm pleased with that

It's perhaps a little bit of a cheat as I've taken my highest weight which was an evening weight last Sunday evening but meh

OP posts:
Porkyparker · 06/03/2023 11:36

Wow 6lbs, amazing. Well done!

The carrot cake Bircher was ok...I served it with a few toasted walnuts. I think it needs a little more punch so ill try some sprinkling extra cinnamon & nutmeg tomorrow (I made a double batch). It is very filling though, I actually struggled to finish the last couple of spoonfuls

TheMildManneredMilitant · 06/03/2023 12:31

That's fab @BatFaceOwl, I'm weighing in officially on weds but think it'll be similar.

I can't decide if I'm enjoying this or not. The food is nice enough, I love that I'm not having to calorie count and I've definitely got more energy. I'm not craving sugar but on some fundamental level I think I'm missing it. Maybe it's cos I've lost the emotional crutch and missing the highs.

Hobbes8 · 06/03/2023 16:04

I’ve been a bit crap at posting but need to get a bit more accountable so here goes:
B: vanilla Bircher and raspberries
L: tortilla, salad, avocado, olives
D: chicken with some sort of curry or chili paste and roast veg
S: kefir, oatcakes and hummus

Eying up a kettlebell workout so will try and muster the energy for that.

Everyone’s doing so well! I’ve been a bit hit and miss but I’ve done a proper food shop now so no excuses.

How are you finding the Zoe thing? I’m interested…but I wonder if it just tells everyone to cut down on bread and other simple carbs, or if there’s ever any genuinely surprising advice?

BatFaceOwl · 06/03/2023 17:55

Ooh no @Hobbes8 it's really really good! You'll learn you gut health, biome diversity, blood fat,
Blood sugar etc etc. Doesn't tell you to cut anything out - you have personal scores

It is pricey though but honestly well worth doing if you can or are interested

OP posts:
BatFaceOwl · 06/03/2023 17:57

Food times for today

Greek yogurt, mango, peanut butter, mixed seeds

Wholemeal roll with tofu hotdogs, hummus and salad

Mixed nuts/ fruit / kefir yogurt

Quinoa, goats cheese, roasted tomatoes

OP posts:
Hobbes8 · 06/03/2023 18:44

Blood fat? It’s bad enough having the fancy scales that tell me I’m fat in 17 different ways. Leave my blood alone!

BatFaceOwl · 06/03/2023 19:31

@Hobbes8 😀😀😀😀 you've got a point there

OP posts:
Porkyparker · 06/03/2023 22:38

Todays food:
Carrot cake Bircher with toasted walnuts. Milky coffee

3 bean & feta salad

Homemade bolognese served with green beans & cauliflower and Parmesan

Snacks:
Cocoa almonds &berries
Vitality smoothie

Had a third snack after my work out this evening - I was starving. Oatcakes & almond butter with few grapes

OriGanOver · 07/03/2023 20:04

I can't get my head into the right mindset 😭

Today I had:

Overnight oats with kefir, blueberries, coconut, vanilla paste, ground mixed seeds and toasted almonds.

Snack/lunch: two boiled eggs and a packet of pastrami

Dinner: leftover chicken that I made into harrissa chicken with apricots, lemon and mint. I made rice for the teens and couldn't help but have some.

Tbf I'm not gaining weight but I'm not shifting it either. I'm eating too much meat as dds gp recommended she eat more meat because of very low b12 anaemia and just not really into cooking. I want junk! I need to sort out my portions and getting snacks in. Last time a spoonful of peanut butter and oatcakes was my favourite snack!

sheepdreams · 08/03/2023 07:20

Sorry for dipping in and out so much work on. Need to prioritise my health so will be posting more to stay accountable.

like OriGanOver my head is just not in the right place. But my body needs this!

planned food today

Breakfast - I don’t think I will have as feel better and less hungry if I don’t eat until 12pm.

Lunch Smoked Mackerel and Beetroot salad.

Chicken stir fry or fish and Mediterranean veg (have not decided yet)!

snacks satsuma, skinny cappuccino.

I had apple slices with a smidgeon of peanut butter on the other day and could not believe how delicious it was.

not weighing for a few weeks as measuring progress by how clothes feel, energy levels, BP and heart rate.

Exercise wise I already walk a minimum of 10000 steps a day, but used to this level so need to increase exercise.

I hope everyone has a good day and I am enjoying catching up on everyone’s journey.

ElvenDreamer · 08/03/2023 07:58

@sheepdreams and @OriGanOver I too am struggling with my head. The Sunday I posted last I did get through the day perfectly on plan and also survived my evening, Monday was wobbly but not disastrous, Tuesday was unexpectedly stressful and annoying and I discovered I don't have a bomb proof plan for those days and fell off the wagon spectacularly.

Trying to regroup straight back into the circle today. Off to pilates class shortly which usually does really help my mindset. Will report back tonight...

OriGanOver · 08/03/2023 08:44

@sheepdreams makeral and beetroot sounds delicious!

Enjoy pilates Elven!

I didn't make overnight oatbran. I know I'm eating out tonight so will probably just drink a lot of water and eat protein until then.

Carbs are my absolute favourite foods. Fresh bread, baguette, croissants, crumpets, chips, crisps etc are my downfall. I can take or leave chocolate/sweets

Porkyparker · 08/03/2023 13:38

Hope everyone who's struggling has a good day

Yesterday was tough, I felt hungry all day and cracked after dinner with a bowl of Fruit & Fibre (gosh I do love my carbs!)

B: Carrot cake bircher & milky coffee
L: Beetroot & feta salad
D: Pesto chicken with salad

Snacks: Strawberry smoothie
Apple with almond butter
The fruit & fibre
Blood orange

I'm drinking lots of water but by dinner time feeling very hungry and de-energised. I don't think I could have done my workout last night without the bowl of cereal. Its making me think about the long-term viability of this eating method - I need to have energy in the evenings for sports and general running around after the kids.

Food / plan for today is:
B: Apple & cinnamon bircher
S: Cherry smoothie
L: Best Bistro Sald (highly recommend - this was really tasty!)
D: Apple turkey meatballs. Will serve with pasta for the kids & DH and veg on the side for me

Megasaur5keeper · 08/03/2023 18:28

@Porkyparker might it be worth trying "solid" snacks in terms of hunger- I love a smoothie too and they can be quite filling but I think I would feel quite hungry too after the days you are describing. I always found the beetroot and goats cheese salad to be quite giant with all the spinach at the bottom (also annoying on teeth with all the spinach but hey ho). If the pesto chicken with salad is the recipe from lfl I don't remember it being much volume wise to fill tummy up. I know protein is satiating but sometimes you need the ballast too!

In terms of long-term sustainability, it's worth remembering that the "transform" phase is designed to create a decent calorie deficit but you are not going to be losing weight forever. So when you are at your goal, you'll need to be either exercising less (and it sounded like you were reasonably active already) or eating more to maintain where you are. I feel if done both over the last fortnight but have maintained my weight (today is the first day for a week I've not had a terrible headache so I'll be back onto normal patterns of movement tomorrow).

So potentially you'll want to add in an extra snack or bigger portion.

I've been eating too much toast over the last couple of days but will be back on track tomorrow.

OriGanOver · 08/03/2023 19:45

Have not stayed on track. The snow ruined my plan and I've had to WFH all day. I had planned a much nicer day for food!

B normal porridge with banana and mixed ground seeds.
L pastrami slices
D freezer tea of lemon breadcrumbed fish, beans and very small amount chips 😂

My tesco shop is coming tomorrow. Peanut butter and snack/lunch/no carb dinner stuff!

Hobbes8 · 08/03/2023 21:34

I’ve had an ok couple of days with a few slips:
yesterday:
B: vanilla Bircher and raspberries
L: tortilla and salad
D: fish cake with mash and peas
S: nakd bar, hummus and oatcakes, olives

Pretty much the same today but accidentally ate some hula hoops.

Im not drinking enough water - I only want tea in this weather.

ElvenDreamer · 08/03/2023 22:15

Today has been respectable.
Eggs on toast
Prawn curry thing (homeade, no rice)
Oat cakes, 2 with nut butter, 1 cheese
Sardine salad
2 egg and bacon muffins (I know that's a lot of eggs in one day, I'd just baked a batch of these for lunch boxes tomorrow though and they smelled amazing!)

1 small stray out of the circle with an oat biscuit I'd just baked, this could have easily turned into several though so I'm calling it a win as I had to work quite hard to walk away

@Hobbes8 I understand totally on the water front, I've act taken to boiling the kettle and pouring myself a hot water, seems to help.
@OriGanOver so annoying when things disrupt plans, hope your delivery tomorrow helps!
@Porkyparker , as @Megasaur5keeper says, once you go from transform to lifestyle then it should all feel more sustainable. That said, I do have to look at my whole menu each day and make sure there are some allowable carbs in there, hence I'm often eggs on toast etc. If the whole day is green and leafy you will get hungry, especially as you say when you're working out .

Sunshineglow · 09/03/2023 04:23

Hi everyone!

I stumbled across this thread while looking for anyone doing the Louise Parker Method, hope it's okay to join in. I put on a lot of weight during Covid, I had some success with LPM early last year and shifted a good amount of weight off, but then kept getting sick and it all came back on again. I'm currently doing prep week and slowly getting myself off sugar and too much caffeine and getting organised to throw myself in next week. I'm also aiming for at least 10,000 steps a day plus working out 4 days a week, I find if i do too much now I can get quite puffy and bloated. I really hate having this extra weight and not being able to fit into most of my clothes...it's really frustrating 🙁

Porkyparker · 09/03/2023 10:02

Great advice everyone, Thank you!

I didn't feel as hungry yesterday as the previous day. The turkey meatballs were tasty (I modified the recipe slightly) and a nice change from vast salads!

I will try to stick to solid snacks, allow a small amount of whole meal carbs when needed and I am also going to switch from low fat to whole Greek yoghurt. I'm ok to lose slowly if it is more sustainable

BatFaceOwl · 09/03/2023 10:41

Morning all

I've been away licking my wounds for a few days. Got my Zoe results back and let's just say that I'm bottom of the class for blood sugar control, blood fat clearing and gut biome diversity. Hmph

Anyway back to it with a breakfast that scores highly for my own biology

OP posts:
ElvenDreamer · 09/03/2023 19:28

Hi everyone, welcome to the fun @Sunshineglow !
Ooh, I'll be intrigued as to what breakfasts you do @BatFaceOwl , I need more variety there.

Food today:
Eggs on wholegrain toast
Sardine salad
Date and peanut bar (strictly not on method but I didn't think it was too far off, those were the only ingredients) I may have had 2 as they were small
2 small slices of cheese on oat cakes
Guinea fowl with Mediterranean vegetables

Exercise a little lacking today, a few half hearted pilates moves for about 2 mins!

OriGanOver · 09/03/2023 19:48

What food/meals should you be eating with those results @BatFaceOwl ?

My delivery is 9 till 10 tonight and still haven't had a chance to go shopping.

Didn't eat breakfast or snacks.

Falafel whole meal wrap and small salad (had out and it was really nice and I'm so glad I avoided having chips and a drink that wasn't water with it)

Dinner was - defrosted veg sauce made with butter beans/blackbeans/courgettes/peppers/aubergines and other things I have forgotten about with meatballs and very small amount of wholemeal pasta. Did have cheese and it was nice.

As much as I don't have a sweet tooth I'm massively craving a supermarket birthday cake.. I'm very tempted to go to sainsburys right now and buy one! I think it must be the sugar that converts from the wrap and the pasta! It's taking all my will power not to go and get one!

Porkyparker · 09/03/2023 22:44

Food today

B: lemon & blueberry butcher, Milky coffee
L: Bistro salad (subbed the chicken with 2 eggs)
D: roasted portobello mushrooms topped with goats cheese, served with lentils (from a sachet), spinach and green salad

Snacks: 2 oatcakes, almond butter & apple
Greek Yoghurt & 2 satsumas

DaysofHoney · 09/03/2023 22:44
