I've set up a new thread because I'd just lost track of the last one and well .. we all love a fresh start dont we?

For accountability purposes, I've put back on all the weight I lost last year. Every single lb

Currently a chubby size 14 and well, I'm not happy about it

I don't know why I lost focus but I do know I really really want to get back on the horse and I'd love to see my old pals on here

Anyone welcome of course / let's do this!

Well it's another day and I'm hopeful that I'm back in the swing of it.

Couldn't have apple and cinnamon for my breakfast as I have 3 packs of flavour king plums to get through! (They're GOOD plums so Louise would be proud)

So breakfast was Greek yogurt, plums, linseeds, chia seeds, teaspoon of peanut butter

I'm doing the Zoe project thing and waiting on results (really enjoyed the pooing test!) but I've had some smaller results back and my highest blood sugar spikes are caused by sourdough and porridge!

Always knew they weren't good for me Grin

Lunch was a wholemeal wrap filled with salad, quorn fillets, few chopped nuts and hummus

I'm going to attempt black bean burgers this evening

BatFaceOwl · 02/03/2023 20:14

Evening all

Food times for today

Yogurt, plums, seeds and peanut butter

Wholemeal wrap with quorn, mixed nuts, salad and hummus

Half a pot of cottage cheese with chopped plum

Homemade black bean and mushroom burger with pickled red onion, tomato in a wholemeal roll

So not a bad food day I don't think. Managed a walk too so that's something

That is a good day @BatFaceOwl . You'll be amazed how quickly you pick up more weight with consistency. Glad you have located someone you like training wise- makes a difference.

I'm off to shiver in bed with a temperature now.

BatFaceOwl · 02/03/2023 21:21

@Megasaur5keeper oh that does not sound good! Hope you shake it off asap

I had some hideous virus thing in November - a month or so after having covid.

Lets just say I was often reminded that my pelvic floor isn't what it used to be

BatFaceOwl · 03/03/2023 14:11

Food so far today

Greek yogurt, plums, linseeds, chia seeds, peanut butter, raspberries

Bowl of quinoa, red cabbage, pepper, goats cheese, pecans, hummus, tomatoes and a homemade dressing

OP posts:
ElvenDreamer · 03/03/2023 14:41

Hi all, hope you're feeling better soon @Megasaur5keeper .
Ok day yesterday, meals all on plan, cant remember much of what I had but made some lovely jackfuit burgers on a slaw for dinner. Snacking was my kryptonite, I've noticed I absently graze while I'm cooking, not great!

Food today
Egg and avocado on toast

The last portion of the massive batch of halloumi and bulgar wheat salad

Beef stew lined up for tonight

No snacks yet but will need something soon. Also need to get in some exercise, thinking I may do 10 mins pilates and a few mins of hula hooping once I've finished work this evening.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 03/03/2023 17:16

So far have had oat bran porridge with pear, cashew butter and cinnamon and squash and lentil soup with a small slice of wholemeal bread.

Don't feel massively hungry now but youngest has come down with a vomiting bug so just waiting for the rest of us to get it...

OriGanOver · 03/03/2023 18:38

I finally weighed today and was 11.4. I want to be 10.10.

Currently eating brie and baguette whilst drinking gin.

I will go shopping tomorrow and get in some oat bran for my kefir over night oats and crack on with LP again.

BatFaceOwl · 03/03/2023 23:00

I almost feel like I've eaten too many plants today. Or what could be classed as plants. I'm trying to up my intake (getting into the Zoe thing!) but I actually don't want to look at anything plant-y right now

OP posts:
Porkyparker · 03/03/2023 23:42

Hi ladies, I'm going to jump on this thread. First time trying to follow the LP method - my weight has been creeping up since before Xmas. I've gotten into bad habits of constant grazing while WFH.... I'm 10st 12 which is well above my comfortable weight

Todays food has been:
Porridge with grapes & flaxseed
Beetroot & goats cheese salad
Chicken and bacon casserole served with cauliflower rice and broccoli

Snacks:
Apple pancakes, greek yoghurt & a blood orange. 1 coffee
2 oatcakes with peanut butter & an apple

Not strictly on plan but I will meal plan and shop for next week. Any good recipe suggestions would be most welcome!

Also had a question about the exercise. I have the Lean for Life book - do you use the exercises in the book (I find them hard to flow - think videos would be easier for me to follow)? I already do quite a lot of exercise (strength & conditioning workouts and I play tennis) so might just stick with that unless I need a quick 15 min workout

TheMildManneredMilitant · 04/03/2023 08:38

Welcome @Porkyparker it sounds like you've got the exercise covered. I'm not doing much of any exercise at the moment apart from 3 short runs a week but planning to introduce something like Jillian Michaels 30day shred 5 X a week. Guess the important part is that you are doing regular strength/conditioning as well as cardio.

I struggle with my step count though. It's hard getting that in and the other exercise.

Megasaur5keeper · 04/03/2023 08:45

@Porkyparker i did the exercises when I started because it's easier for me to be at home and I did not think about videos. I then got bored around October or November and got Les mills + on the recommendation of someone on here and love it. I am aware this makes me sound like a total dick - did you mean flow or follow in your post? I'm asking because my autocorrect switches those words out and I found them difficult to follow so both work in context !
I found the descriptions very tricky to understand -not as bad as the ones in lean for life but not easy. Some of the moves are familiar from pilates etc but some- like the hippies - seem weird.
What I did was go through the moves very slowly a couple of times to get my body to understand them before I planned starting that week.
I found once I worked out the instructions the actual exercises were not tricky , and if you are starting from doing strength and conditioning already chances are you'll know a lot of the basic principles (there's only so many ways to do a squat or a lunge...)
The wee circuits do flow quite well when you've worked out the individual moves.

Anyway, I seem to be largely recovered from the very odd shivering and being absolutely drenched in sweat at 2am , it is a beautiful day here so I'm hoping for delightful family walk later on before a body pump class at 4.

OriGanOver · 04/03/2023 09:56

@BatFaceOwl 😂 poor you! Have you tried the chickpea and parmesan zoe recipe? That looks louise parker enough but also very yummy. When I first found out about Spectors research I thought that's why LP works as it's very similar with the balancing blood sugars! I'm still on the waiting list for giving my samples and doing the muffin test!

Porker - I don't exercise because of a health condition that I'm waiting for treatment on (fingers crossed it works as I miss exercising) and don't stick to LP religiously (I'm rubbish at eating breakfast and snacking - it doesn't happen enough) and I lost weight from balancing the sugars. So very little bread/pasta/potatoes/starchy veg/rice and if I did eat them, there was a lot of protein to go with them. I do like an oatcake with my version of LP houmous or peanut butter!

Appleypie · 04/03/2023 10:06

Hi ladies, I was briefly on one of your earlier threads but dropped off fairly quickly. I found her recipes- especially lunch and dinner - lacked veggie options and i lost interest. I just bought the veggie version of Lean in 15 which seems to be similarly carb-low so I'm wondering whether I can incorporate that.

Frustratingly I am exercising more than ever but my weight has shot up with hrt and I need to do something about it!

I still have an enormous tub of stevia languishing at the back of a cupboard 😉

Porkyparker · 04/03/2023 14:47

@Megasaur5keeper not at all - I meant Follow (wish I could blame autocorrect but it's probably just bad typing on my part!)

Todays food so far / planned
B: Bircher with blood orange & flaked almonds. Milky coffee
L: 3 bean salad (delicious!)
D: chicken casserole with cauliflower rice & Brocolli

Snacks: cherry smoothie. Oat cakes & PB with an apple

I felt rotten this morning (like a hangover - maybe due to low sugar yesterday?) but fine again after food and coffee

TheMildManneredMilitant · 04/03/2023 21:36

Evening all. Pretty on plan today.

Breakfast - oatbran porridge with pear, cashew nut butter and cinnamon. Ok but I do find that the 'good' nut butters are difficult to spread/stir once they separate so ended up with chewy lumps.

Lunch - the lentil salad but with feta instead of goats cheese. Yummy.

Dinner - paneer with cauliflower and other veg. Nice enough but didn't really fill me up.

Snacks - oatcakes and peanut butter / plum.

Went for a run but still not managed to really do any strength exercises.

This way of eating does really clear my head and stop the mood dives.

BatFaceOwl · 04/03/2023 21:44

Food times for today. Amazed I managed to stay on track as we went out to eat and I had a wobble and nearly went for the chips but pulled it back!

Greek yogurt, raspberries, seeds, peanut butter (I'm mixing this up from tomorrow- getting bored!)

Banana

Halloumi in a wholemeal roll with salad and hummus

Mixed nuts

Grilled goats cheese salad - had this in the restaurant and avoided dessert and a starter.

OP posts:
BatFaceOwl · 04/03/2023 21:49

@Appleypie ah the dreaded stevia! Is it next to the GOOD vanilla paste? I'm as close to vegan as I can be (just can't give up greek yogurt and cheese!) and it can be a bit tricky sometimes but I usually manage

@OriGanOver ooh I'll have a look at that recipe - could be my thing!

@Porkyparker welcome. Sounds like you've made a great start

OP posts:
Porkyparker · 04/03/2023 22:21

@TheMildManneredMilitant store your nut butters upside down, it keeps them smooth & the oil doesn't separate

BatFaceOwl · 05/03/2023 16:36

Afternoon all. Surprised myself by still sticking to it - at this rate it'll soon become a habit!

Smoothie made with kefir, mango, raspberry protein powder, blueberries and oat milk

Quinoa with avocado, salad and goats cheese

Strawberries, a plum and some mixed nuts

Dinner will be halloumi burger with mushroom, sweet potato and salad

I'm going to make Monday my weigh in I think so will see where I am tomorrow.

OP posts:
ElvenDreamer · 05/03/2023 16:42

Hi all,
4k run this morning
Bacon and eggs
2 babybel
Stew
Apple and a handful of nuts
Chickpea and red cabbage (and many more veggies) salad waiting for tea.

Noticed in last couple of days exactly where my evening snack trigger happens where things tend to go wrong. I have tended to suddenly eat a load of random stuff after posting on here, tonight I'm trying to outwit myself. I can be quite on top of life, starting to maybe feel a bit tired and then I have to go to the kitchen to load washing machine/dishwasher/finish cleaning kitchen/feed cat etc as appropriate. The walking into the kitchen triggers a massive desire to eat which I then can't seem to resist, especially if I'm tired, (brain saying food is fuel maybe?) A In order to try and retrain my evening brain I am attempting to have all kitchen related jobs done by teatime so I can just avoid it. Hoping if I can keep that organised for a few days I might be able to break the cycle. Fingers crossed!

BatFaceOwl · 05/03/2023 18:13

@ElvenDreamer ah that overwhelming desire to eat! Sounds like you've got a plan though so good luck with it

Evenings for me are not a trigger time. I mean, I'll happily eat if I'm off the wagon but I don't need to.

I work from home a lot and I'd say that practically all the working day is a prime trigger for me 😝

OP posts:
Porkyparker · 05/03/2023 18:15

Hi all,

Todays food:
Apple & cinnamon bircher. Milky coffee
Cherry & cocoa smoothie
Out for Sunday lunch with friends at a carvery - couple slices of roast beef (looked quite lean) with gravy and extra steamed veg. Managed to resist the potatoes!
Beetroot & goats cheese salad

Snack later probably oatcakes & nut butter with some fruit. I like to have this about 9.30 so I can get to sleep without feeling hungry

Long day tomorrow of work followed by a hospital appointment so have prepped tomorrows bircher (carrot cake) and a salad for lunch.

Good luck with weigh in tomorrow Bat - have you been on plan for a week now?

Hope your plan works Elven - we are definitely all creatures of habit

BatFaceOwl · 06/03/2023 09:45

@Porkyparker ooh carrot cake bircher sounds quite nice! You'll have to report back. I can't remember if I tried that once last year or if I just meant to!
