I've set up a new thread because I'd just lost track of the last one and well .. we all love a fresh start dont we?

For accountability purposes, I've put back on all the weight I lost last year. Every single lb

Currently a chubby size 14 and well, I'm not happy about it

I don't know why I lost focus but I do know I really really want to get back on the horse and I'd love to see my old pals on here

Anyone welcome of course / let's do this!

Morning all. I’m reading all the messages and taking notes-some really helpful advice that I want to incorporate.
@BatFaceOwl I have two stone to go. I think I need to follow the plan to the letter and actually eat the proper snacks. Yesterday breakfast was coco’s porridge, dinner was a soup (from the Anna Jones book-daughters bowl came back almost as full as I gave it to her, so not a result) but I did some weird ‘snack frenzy’ instead of lunch. I was gardening (read labouring as the garden is a tip) and just grabbed stuff. So lesson there.

I also hyper focus @MisshapenHat and when things are going well all is good but when things slip I can get a bit fixed and it gets me down. I read Elle McPhearson’s fitness and beauty routine and decided I would give it a go-what on earth was I thinking?! All I did was think about how much I wasn’t doing it! I was never going to do it. She’s a flippin’ supermodel and I’m overweight, menopausal and permanently exhausted. I spent weeks sadly thinking, ‘well Elle would be riding her bike along the coastline by now and I’m still in bed’. I do want to build in exercise though and something each day needs to be a ‘must’. Recognising that it’s always something that I’m going to ‘have’ to do rather than ‘want’ to do is a good approach.

@ElvenDreamer the digital detox is hard. I still doom scroll of an evening. Well done on ticking off some of the ‘To Do’ list. I have cleaning and a bit of painting in the house on mine today. But I’m going to try and get some steps in first-your 1300 is fantastic and a good bit of inspo.

Will have salad today and will start with either the porridge (total yum) or yoghurt and berries. Will sort a proper lunch and sort some exercise. Onwards!

Btw, at this point, Elle would have finished aforementioned bike ride and be doing a bit of Pilates…

BatFaceOwl · 08/05/2023 15:20

Looks like we are all wanting to step back into the circle so that's something!

I'm definitely trying to focus on the actual plan and not veer too much from it. It can sometimes take a little planning as I'm vegan (ish! I can't give up cheese or Greek yogurt so still eat those) so maybe it would be better to say I'm plant based. So meat, fish and eggs are out so i do need to keep focussed

I've had chickpea flour pancakes again today with grapes, strawberries and Greek yogurt. I find these super filling and it's good they're on plan as they're very nice

Lunch has been a wholemeal roll with pea shoots, hummus, sliced tomatoes and pepper and a Plants black bean, miso and caramelised onion burger. They're new out and it was alright! Edible!

Not sure on dinner just yet. Crispy tofu salad I think

Oat pancakes with fruit and a dollop of yogurt here this morning.
Bean burger balls and hummus from the LP cookbook (made double so there are some things for snacks or lunches later in week too)
Not sure on evening meal yet, maybe a tuna salad.
It must be difficult trying to be largely vegan @BatFaceOwl , what do you think end up being your staple ingredients?

Been a nicely active day, some gardening, just got back from a long walk with the family so steps looking good. I plan to try and do a session of the exercises from the 6 week book tonight. Figured I'd try and use the 6 week book to keep me motivated this time around.

Clemsie · 08/05/2023 15:49

Dropping in here as I’d love to get back to Louise Parker. I lost 2st in the past by following her books but I’m back to 70kg at just 5’3.

I’m now a single mum working a stressful and intense full-time job with very limited time to meal-plan and cook. Ex-DP is useless and I rarely get time on my own. Does anybody think LP is actually doable if you’re time-poor? Also, I’m sick of the recipes that take less time to prep and need a more varied repertoire. Does anybody have recipes / meal suggestions to share?

BatFaceOwl · 08/05/2023 16:02

@ElvenDreamer well, when not doing LPM, I'd say cakes, sweets, chips and puddings! 😝

I end up eating a lot of the same stuff tbh. Tofu, quorn fillets, halloumi, goats cheese, quinoa, salads, roasted veg, feta .. that sort of thing

OP posts:
ElvenDreamer · 08/05/2023 17:15

@Clemsie I personally don't like alot of the LP recipes purely for the time reasons, I am loving the series of books called The Roasting Tin though, so easy, and many many recipes on method. I will also try and aim any slightly more complex recipes for days when I know I have more time and also make a double batch and freeze, that helps. Friday's are my 'eat from the freezer' as I don't get a second to stop on a Friday.

RobertaGlass · 08/05/2023 19:02

@Clemsie, I’m in the same situation, single mum and no shared parenting. I like the LP coco porridge. I make enough for at least two or more days and that works well. I also like the lentil dish and I have that in portions in the freezer, so if I am doing something for daughter, I have that to hand for me. This weekend, I did carve out time to go through freezer and meal plan (which I did find dull) it did take time but I figure it saves the daily stress.

MisshapenHat · 08/05/2023 22:52

I find the LP recipes hit and miss for me. I feel she misses out on using spices and acid-- which is really the thing that can take a good recipe to AMAZING.

Someone upthread was asking about quick and easy eats. I have a few when I don't feel like doing much:

*2 egg omelete filled with veggies. Could also do a salad on the side.
*Whole meal pita with hummus, feta, tomatoes and cucumbers.
*Avocado toast. I'd never had avocado toast before this. Now I do an avocado, some apple cider vinegar (there's that acid), feta, pomegranate seeds and everything but the bagel seasoning + salt.

Tonight we will have diced chicken with store bought pesto, plus tomato, mozzarella and basil for a caprese salad. Surprisingly, everyone ate this last week (my 2 teens do not like LP food).

Going to do a Bi Bim Bap (Korean) bowl later this week but without rice. Will add in some shredded cabbage and use store bought meatballs instead of ground beef. I found shop bought meatballs + vegetables makes a meal pretty quick!

Also, yes, I have found the longer I hold off the self-sabotage thoughts of "I deserve this, I've had a horrible day," the easier it becomes. If it's really bad I will just have a Coke Zero. Not the healthiest thing in the world, but its better than a gin and tonic!

Clemsie · 09/05/2023 08:21

Thanks for the tips all! The Roasting Tin book has been ordered :)

ElvenDreamer · 09/05/2023 12:43

So, last night ended with an extra unplanned snack and a failure to do the planned exercise so not the best finish but not a disaster, onwards and upwards.

I hope you like the book @Clemsie , I have 4 in the series now, the 'chuck all these things in a tin and leave it to do it's magic' is an approach that works well as far as I'm concerned!

Bircher this morning for me, followed by a somewhat hefty snack of eggs on toast as I was ravenous by about an hour later.

Spiced crab tarts (Roasting Tin Around The World!) and kale for lunch.

Will probably have hummus and lots of vegetable sticks and a couple of oat cakes for tea.

Unexpected day off work so using my time wisely and have spent the morning alternating practice, cleaning and gardening. Need to put in some proper exercise later but I have been relatively active at least.

BatFaceOwl · 09/05/2023 23:39

I've got the roasting tin books - must look them out!

Day 3 completed ✔️

Pancakes, fruit and Greek yogurt (I may give the pancakes a miss tomorrow/ not sure. I tend to go through phases where I'll eat something until I'm sick of it

Wholemeal roll with tofu, salad and handful of mixed nuts

Tangerine, grapes and babybel

Pea shoots with goats cheese, pecans, balsamic and olive oil.

OP posts:
BatFaceOwl · 10/05/2023 13:12

Onto day 4 - amazing! I did have pancakes but that's it now for a while as they weren't great - just couldn't do them properly for some reason

Chickpea flour pancakes, black grapes, nectarine slices and ricotta for breakfast with a mango bubble tea

Thinking about lunch shortly

OP posts:
ElvenDreamer · 10/05/2023 15:10

Whoop whoop, day 4 and yesterday evening was completed as planned, hurrah!
Your breakfast sounds lovely @BatFaceOwl , I'm quite unimaginative at breakfast, need to hange it up a bit.
Today:
Eggs and rocket on toast

Handful peanuts and raisins

Roasting Tin sprout, pancetta and feta dish (omitting the rice and doubling up the veg for me, added broccoli so it wasn't just a tonne of sprouts!)

Planning a snack shortly of apple slices and a piece of cheese before work.

This evening will probably be some leftover bean balls, salad veg and hummus.

Pilates class this morning.

Clemsie · 10/05/2023 18:54

@ElvenDreamer that’s a fantastic start! It’s so hard to get into the zone so well done.

Roasting Tin (30 min one dish dinners) book arrived today - wow, the recipes look amazing and very LP-adaptable. Thanks for the recommendation.

ElvenDreamer · 13/05/2023 10:00

So, Thursday, strayed outside the circle a little and definitely pushed portion sizes, Friday left circle for dust, (stress eating, very little will power as it turns out.) Focusing on not just giving up and getting back in that inner circle today as best as possible. Hope everyone else is doing better than me!

MisshapenHat · 13/05/2023 19:30

This week and next are the ones that are testing me. I work at University (social media) and was running around all day Thursday, filming graduations. It was 6pm and I was DYING and no where near home. How the heck I found a tiny shop that sold overpriced boiled eggs, salami, cheese and grapes is beyond me. But I did it. Stayed on method.

Hurt my back yesterday and so badly wanted to make it "better" with chocolate. Somehow held it off.

Today is anniversary + 1 year post hysterectomy, so will celebrate with cuban food and one alcoholic drink. Tomorrow is Mother's Day in the States, so will celebrate with lunch salad + a visit to an Asian dessert place for bubble waffle.

Monday. My child's high school graduation. (Cake. Tiny slice.)

My parents are in town all week so we have to entertain them.

Leave Saturday for Hawaii.

Let me repeat this for myself: I WILL NOT OVEREAT. I WILL NOT OVEREAT. I will celebrate when needed, plan ahead for salad or protein, and enjoy life. It isn't cheating; it is celebrations.

RobertaGlass · 14/05/2023 08:33

Impressed that everyone is really trying, which helps me to keep going as it can be tough - so thanks for sharing. Just being able to curb that desire to overeat is a real positive, as food is so much part of celebration and socialising. And, there are a lot of pressures from others as well as ourselves.

I have kept focussing on exercise. Taken the advice on here to ‘just get on with it, as you never really feel like it’ and that’s worked. My steps have been over the 10k, done yoga and a bit of a work out most days. Sleep has been better. Digital detox-not so much, have to stop that scrolling, especially at night!

Diet has mainly been good. Yesterday bit of an accidental swerve. I was at a yoga day and the lunch was a variety of cheese, breads, biscuits and stuff- then a cake. I ate the lot and just didn’t think about it. Later, I thought ‘oh no, that’s totally off plan’. Tbh it wasn’t even a ‘worth it’. I just didn’t think and didn’t have an alternative. However, lost 2lbs this week. I lost 5lbs last week (but that was due to crazy weight gain from the week before) and now 7lbs down in a fortnight. I’m really pleased.
Food planning today. Have a night out on Friday. Only thing is to minimise and try and not overeat.
Hope you are all having a lovely Sunday.❤️

Megasaur5keeper · 23/05/2023 21:21

I have eaten so much absolute shit today. Very not good. You turn not happening. I know why I'm doing it and cannot force myself to stop.

RobertaGlass · 24/05/2023 09:04

@Megasaur5keeper . I know how you feel. But would focussing on sleep or one of the other pillars help?

MisshapenHat · 02/06/2023 17:36

I just have to say...LPM works on vacation.

We went to Hawaii for a week. Typically, I come home from vacation almost feeling sick of food, pants too tight, etc.

It did not happen this time.

I had more alcohol that week than I've had in awhile (I mean, if you're overlooking the pacific ocean, a water isn't going to cut it). Same with sweets. BUT, I tried very hard to be sensible with sweets (picking the small). The few times I went for the bigger one, I was absolutely miserable and kicking myself.

The rest of the time, I tried salads, boiled eggs, peanuts (if desperate), chicken (no rice, which is a Hawaiian staple)....it worked.

Less than a week home, I'm down to a new low weight (even by a few ounces, I'm counting it). WOW. I really still can't believe it worked.

ElvenDreamer · 12/06/2023 12:18

Creeping back tentatively.... @Megasaur5keeper I hear you, I've definitely been in some dark and unmotivated places recently!
@MisshapenHat that's a really positive holiday story. Fabulous job!

I'm not going to bore anyone with my recent soul searching, but just sort of pick up where I left off. In the past few days I've downloaded the Freshwell app, and it's fabulous, it's sort of LP (just the food pillar) but a bit more extreme. The health/scientific explanation section scared me quite a lot, which was possibly the kick up the backside I needed... but the recipe section and substitution section is brilliant, I highly recommend checking it out.

Today so far I've had yoghurt, bran and berries for breakfast, clementine, feta and winter leaf salad for lunch, (plus a hard boiled egg as I was still hungry.) Walked the school run this morning so just over 2 miles total.

Sunshineglow · 21/06/2023 06:17

I tried but no one replied...no point without support

ElvenDreamer · 21/06/2023 12:26

@Sunshineglow 😥 I'm sorry. I think this thread waxed and waned as people dipped in and put of the method, I can't speak for anyone else but I know I'm bad for posting and engaging when I feel like I've been a bit rubbish myself. Then I log on and there are a bunch of messages so it's hard to reply specifically to people as I then forget what I read!
