"I Started Ozempic Last Night" THREAD THREE

1000 replies

Athena51 · 16/02/2023 08:44

Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

Can I ask why people are choosing Ozempic and not Saxenda? Is Ozempic the better of the 2? X

I hadn't heard of Saxenda prior to starting on Ozempic

Only because with Oxempic you only have to inject once a week

Also down to being ‘overweight’ now rather than ‘obese’ which feels like a great milestone to pass!

Well Done - I will feel proud when I can say I’m “only” overweight 😂

I took my second injection of 0.25 on Saturday morning and had dinner out on Sunday. Spent all last night vomiting and feel like death today I'm too scared to eat. Someone tell me it gets better I didn't get any side effects in the first week.

As someone who has also vomited (twice!) a day or two after taking 0.25mg, you have my sympathy! On both occasions I felt fine the day after being sick and for the rest of the week but it is making me nervous about taking my next dose.
Im going to try eating very small meals the next time I take Ozempic & drinking lots of water.

I've been lurking since starting a few weeks ago. Have had shocking sulphur burps since starting.
Did some research and saw a few people on reddit recommending digestive enzymes so went ahead and bought the cheapest ones in Holland and Barrett (www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/holland-barrett-enzyme-formula-tablets-60010332) and so far no sulphur burps! Will update if the burps restart.

Thought this might help someone else. I'm due to go to the dentist next week and was imagining doing a sulphur burp in the dentists face and being mortified. Fingers crossed it keeps working

For me it was because although I’d heard of Saxenda I didn’t think it would be worth it for me as I didn’t eat a lot and didn’t binge. Ozempic doesn’t just suppress appetite but effects insulin and blood sugars. I’m a bit concerned that people don’t seem to know that and understand more about how it works before ordering it. It’s not just a weight loss drug. It actually lowers blood sugar. And taking it without understanding that is a bit dangerous I think.

Katrinawaves · 20/02/2023 19:56

I struggled with vomiting for the first 6 or 7 weeks and had to go back down from 0.5 to 0.25 for a month to properly get used to the drug but I haven’t been sick for about a month now and am back up at 0.5. If you can bear to stick with it, and don’t rush to increase from 0.25 to 0.5 hopefully things will settle down for you both.

Well, my order has been approved apparently pre confirmation photo.. still awaiting dispatch info.

Any tips for the first injection (if and when it arrives)? Should I work into a day off? Weekend? Just in case.. are you open with loved ones with what you are using? I feel it should be my secret but sort of hate that too... not yet discussed with husband. Should I?!

Panic mode, do I cancel or commit?!

I haven’t told my husband but I believe most people on this thread have told their partners. I will tell him eventually (if I stick with it for a few months) but not ready to tell him just yet. He must not be very observant because I’m amazed he hasn’t noticed my unusual behaviour.
Based on the fact that it makes some people feel nauseous a day or two after injecting, I would time it so that if you do feel poorly, you are not likely to be at work when the nausea strikes. I work part time and that is a factor for me now.

toolatetofly · 20/02/2023 20:57

i oh dear i know it's a huge step .
reading back you can see lots of people have had side effects and lots of people who have been ok
The injection is super easy and i didn't find it mattered what time etc but others did.
i didn't tell anyone because it felt private and i've failed so many times.
in the end i told DH who has been fine but no one else.
Good luck what ever you decide to do

behindanothername · 20/02/2023 21:38

Hello, I had used saxenda and am looking to move over to Ozempic and then WeGovy when it finally arrives. Which suppliers are ok to use and also do any of them have a PayPal option (stupid question but due to having lost one of my cards which is still set up in PayPal) thanks!

ILostMyself · 21/02/2023 08:08

I think mine is turning up this afternoon and I was wondering the same about timing… can I take it when it gets here or should I wait till tomorrow morning?

I’ve told my husband and although I know he would prefer I didn’t use it, he is not judging as he knows how much I’ve struggled for a while now. I also mentioned it to my best friend but I won’t tell anyone else though.

Happierwithouthim · 21/02/2023 08:30

You can take it any time that suits you.

I take mine on a Mon eve, I figured at least I'd be going to bed soon if there were side effects.

MiniCooperLover · 21/02/2023 09:38

Just a half lb loss for me this week, it was a very disjointed week with some airport travelling, snacks I've avoided fully since beginning and wine. So a clean and healthy week to come I hope and then back on it.

@Peridot1 I would agree. I would a be a bit concerned that people can just order it off the internet without having an actual consultation with an actual doctor first. Anyone can just lie about their weight. But that’s their decision at the end of the day.

Absolutely. I actually worry that people are just looking at the appetite suppression elements and think that's it when it isn't. I started taking it after fully researching how it works and what elements of my metabolism and body it would impact. I had long suspected I had insulin resistance and I think that this has shown I do, because my blood sugar's are much steadier on ozempic (based on both how I feel and on blood glucose sticks).

11lbs off for me now. Very happy with that.

How many doses are in the 0.5 pen? It says 4 but I know the 0.25 pen has more, I was wondering and hoping this has more too? I'm tempted to do a half week second dose but my new pen won't arrive till next week and I don't want to use the 4th dose today but not have any left for Friday.

It had a bit left but not a full 0.5mg dose I don't think. I didn't count the clicks though.
I took it after 4 days when I'd usually have taken another 0.5.

I think the pens have an extra 10 clicks in them (to cover testing, evaporation etc).

TheGrandUpwards · 21/02/2023 15:37

My first 0.25ml is in my thigh! How exciting.

Although I've got an evening out tomorrow so I hope I'm not hit with too many side effects.

I think it depends .. did you eat one or did you eat 10? We still have to eat after all, and sometimes nice/sweet things will be part of it. If, however, you had less than you might normally then I'd see it as a win.

Athena51 · 21/02/2023 17:31

I felt weirdly sick today which is unusual. I got home from work and had a small slice of toast. I think I might actually be restricting a bit too much as I've had the odd light-headed moment and I am trying to be healthier overall, not starve myself.

I'm a bit all or nothing so I have to fight the impulse to go REALLY low calorie just because I can. I'm weight training so I do need to fuel myself properly. We live and learn eh? I've pretty much been in a big calorie deficit for a year plus so I maybe need to rethink a little and eat a little more if I can.
