Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

@MiniCooperLover I had 3, all the first ones that went a bit out of shape.

I think it's a win if I don't have anything else this evening.

TheGrandUpwards · 21/02/2023 18:16

I was going to have a few pancakes as a last hurrah but couldn't eat even one. I only took my first dose a few hours ago so I'm assuming it's just psychological!

Happierwithouthim · 21/02/2023 18:39

I'm having pancakes in place of dinner, you've got to live too.
Made dc crepe style ones for breakfast and going to mane myself fluffy ones now.

My first 0.25ml is in my thigh! How exciting.

Although I've got an evening out tomorrow so I hope I'm not hit with too many side effects.

Me too! I was actually quite nervous doing the first one today… not because of the needle, but just because of using medication for this. For some reason I feel guilty even though I am obese.

I have had a slightly dry mouth after and managed to eat dinner later than normal… I’m also not sure if I’m just imagining it’s working as well!

ShockSmile

You’re allowed a pancake and I bet you will still lose weight; stop beating yourself up! Be kind to yourself xx

Lndnmummy · 21/02/2023 19:51

I have got my doses wrong. I thought I'd been on 1ml for weeks but have only been on 0.75. Took 1ml on Sunday night and I have been glued to the bathroom since. I have had to take two days off work and not eaten since Sunday. Please tell me this will pass, I have to go to work😓

Prettybubblesintheair · 21/02/2023 20:01

God this constipation is making me miserable! I’m taking psyllium husk fibre three times a day and senna tablets at night…nothing! I only get relief if I take actual constipation medication and I don’t want to keep doing that. Help!

HolibobsinApril · 21/02/2023 20:52

I felt bad about the pancakes as I was also planning dinner.

I managed to still cook dinner for DH and the kids. I just had a piece of cheese and some small pieces of chicken.

So it's still a win 😁

I was just a bit cross with myself as I had managed to resist everything else for the past 2.5 weeks.

Hope you feel better soon! I've been the same on 1mg. I have been on Ozempic for 4 months slowly increasing dosage each month. Since yesterday I've vomited and had diarrhoea and stomach cramps. I have also had sulphur burps. I took today off work as I feel so rough. I'm also jet lagged after a long haul flight which I don't think has helped. This has put me off taking any more.

That sounds rough!

Were you getting good results on 0.75?

I hope you are over it soon.

Peridot1 · 21/02/2023 21:19

@Athena51 - I had some days where I felt a bit light headed and shaky too a few weeks ago. Maybe up your protein a bit? Especially if you are weight training.

@Lndnmummy - I wouldn’t have thought an increase to 1mg when you have been taking 0.75. Hopefully it will pass quickly. Did you eat anything overly fatty or sugary?

@Prettybubblesintheair - it’s miserable isn’t it? I was the same. It’s a bit better now. Are you drinking lots of water? I found Fybogel quite good.

Yes around 3 litres daily! I’ll try fybogel thank you 😊

KelmenaBallerina · 21/02/2023 21:50

Eeek I’ve done it! I’ve placed my first order, it’s due on Thursday. My question is, I’m out for drinks and maybe food on Saturday night with DH. Do I wait until after Saturday to take the first dose? Or just do it and hope I don’t get any side effects.

suphi · 21/02/2023 21:50

Fybogel gel IS psyllium peridot. It's just a brand name for flavoured psyllium husk.

Athena51 · 21/02/2023 21:51

@Peridot1 thanks, I had a nice stew with plenty of protein and veg and I'm feeling much better now.

I would wait until after Saturday in case you are one of the unlucky ones who gets nausea and vomiting.

I found snacking on 3 or 4 prunes helped when nothing else did - worth a try?

DorotheaDiamond · 21/02/2023 21:57

Just done first injection (quick meds we’re brilliant)…wish me luck!!!

SameToo · 21/02/2023 22:03

Sorry if I’ve missed something but is this a medication for diabetes that people are now using to loose weight?

Peridot1 · 21/02/2023 22:03

Is it @suphi? I should know that shouldn’t I? Oops!

would dates work? Can’t stand prunes!

Peridot1 · 21/02/2023 22:07

Basically yes @SameToo. It’s not something to be entered into lightly and I would really suggest you research it. It’s in short supply and it has side effects and there are other medications that help with weight loss. I’m on it and buying it privately and I do feel a little guilty but I was obese and close to type 2 diabetes. I have concerns about people not realising that it effects blood sugars. It’s not just a weight loss drug. It’s a diabetic drug that helps with weight loss.

Lndnmummy · 21/02/2023 22:42

Ugh I feel so rotten, hope it passes soon or I will have to come off.

Karmakamelion · 21/02/2023 23:26

I've lost 6 kilos but haven't been as strict as i could have been. Lots of drinks and meals out although i e tried to be sensible when doing either of those things by making good food if not alcohol choices. Im so enjoying finally being in charge of my appetite!

I don’t think so.

There are some specific chemicals in prunes which promote peristalsis which is what moves the blockage along your intestinal track and they also have sorbitol which helps soften things and make it easier to pass. Not sure that other dried fruits have these or if they do to the same extent.
