Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

Mini update - I went ahead and upped my dose to 1mg yesterday (two remaining doses of 0.50 in my pen) and it WORKED! I now feel exactly as I did when I started Ozempic and haven’t had any unpleasant side effects so far 🙏🏻 I’m really hoping that it stays like this now as I still have about four stone to lose.

KelmenaBallerina · 19/02/2023 21:37

I’ve been reading all the threads on Ozempic and defo want the try it. I’m so excited I’m just terrified I use it for a few months loose the weight and then as soon as I stop the weight comes back. I can’t afford £150 every month forever. Is it possible to take it to lose weight and then maintain afterwards with just a healthy diet?

Twiglets1 · 19/02/2023 21:47

@RumNotRun & @MiniCooperLover hope you both have a better day tomorrow. It’s not always easy, that’s for sure x

polopolopolopoo · 19/02/2023 22:07

@Abeachsomewhere this is such a good update 👏👏

Aww thank you - hoping to have a better one with some weight loss in a few days! x

Lndnmummy · 19/02/2023 22:23

@RumNotRun don't lose heart. I did not have reliable appetite suppression until I was on 1mg. Hang in there. It is frustrating but keep chipping away at it. I have been on it for three months (had a break in December) and I often feel frustrated and that I haven't lost anything. But I am 8.6 kg lighter than I was in Nov. Thats a 10% reduction. I still have another 20kg to lose but I know it will take time. Hang in there. Remember it is a marathon, not a sprint.

NurseLally · 20/02/2023 06:32

Keen to give this a go but is it normal to be asked for a photo after ordering? Ordered from Manual..Hmm

Some providers ask for a photo but most don't. I ordered from Mayfair and they didn't ask for a photo but I have heard that a couple of providers do.

Gah! I'm struggling today. I'm not starving but keep thinking of food and could be easily persuaded to eat something naughty.

I had my 3rd 0.25 dose on Friday. I did think at the time that I didn't feel the needle until the last 3 or 4 seconds of the dose (did a total of 10 secs). So maybe I didn't get enough.

I think I'm going to have to use my willpower for the next day or 2 and maybe have my next dose on Wednesday if it doesn't get better. ☹️

It's ok to have your next dose early! Don't feel like you have to wait the full week if it's worn off. It's a false economy to do so. No harm will come if you dose early

Happierwithouthim · 20/02/2023 09:50

I went up to 0.75mg last Monday and it worked out well, decent appetite suppression but still needed to engage willpower. I'll do another 0.75mg this evening and maybe move up to 1mg next week depending on how it goes.

Weight loss has slowed but I'm alright with that when side effects aren't bad. Another 1lb lost this week.

RotundRuby · 20/02/2023 10:06

Well done on all the losses and well done to those people persevering, that seems even harder. I'm now at the end of week one and luckily haven't struggled. Have lost 3lbs so far meaning BMI has already gone down to 26.5. I'm really happy with that as I've had poor eating (only smaller portions) and been more sedentary due to work commitments. Most importantly for me, sugar cravings have reduced by about 80% and I don't feel completely consumed by seeking a sugar fix. I'm seeing a difference in my moods and sleep already.

This week I'm back at my normal levels of exercising and plan to satisfy the remaining sugar cravings with fruit. I'd be happy losing 1lb a week over a few months, as long as the weight comes off.

@polopolopolopoo We buy the myprotein whey isolate unflavoured protein powder as I find it more versatile. I also think the Arla Protein Yogurts are quite good (more spendy than plain yogurt but not having to buy protein powder it evens out). I'm not a big breakfast person so I thin out my yogurt as a smoothie with milk, berries/banana and seeds to a thick smoothie, seems more bearable to drink it.

KelmenaBallerina · 20/02/2023 10:54

Can I ask why people are choosing Ozempic and not Saxenda? Is Ozempic the better of the 2? X

DorotheaDiamond · 20/02/2023 11:20

Does anyone want to sell me some spare needles? Don’t really want to buy a box of 100!!!

I took my doses around 5 days apart when I was on the .25 dosage. As long as it is two days after your last dose, it is ok!

For me personally the fact that ozempic is longer lasting makes it a lot more appealing - I don’t fancy the daily injections! I think ozempic has had a lot more news coverage and attention too, saxenda has never been on my radar.

Cappuccinopup · 20/02/2023 11:24

Well done for everyone for their losses - I moved up to .75 this week, I did four injections of .5 but didn’t want to jump all the way up to 1mg so planning to do four weeks of .75 then onto 1mg. Although if my appetite gets a lot higher in the couple of days before my next dose, I will either move up to 1mg or inject every 5/6 days like I did with smaller doses.

Cappuccinopup · 20/02/2023 11:24

Also down to being ‘overweight’ now rather than ‘obese’ which feels like a great milestone to pass!

That's amazing, well done! I can't wait to just be overweight 😄

In clinical trials, yes. Ozempic showed a higher percentage weight loss over time. My consultant spoke about it when they had the shortage and talking about Rebellysus (yuck) vs Saxenda.

HermioneWeasley · 20/02/2023 11:38

Well done @Cappuccinopup

I’ve lost another 1lb - slow and steady. Still eating whatever I want, and starting to turn my thoughts to the fact that’s not going to work when I come off Ozempic and don’t have the appetite suppression.

Thanks @Athena51 @HermioneWeasley & @orangelotus ☺️

@HermioneWeasley slow and steady sustainable weight loss is brilliant! I’ve gone down to losing 1-2lbs a week since losing the initial water weight, which I’m more than happy with since now I know it’s actual fat which I am losing 🎉

IAmBreathingIn · 20/02/2023 13:09

Linking to the questions about good sources of protein, my partner swears by Lidl's natural skyr. Really high in protein, super low fat, no added sugar, nor additives/preservatives, and inexpensive (the flavoured versions are not the same though). Hope that helps someone ☺️
