Athena51 · 16/02/2023 08:44

Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

1mg is the highest dose of Ozempic. Once Wegovy is available in the UK the doses go up to 2.4 mg. There is a 1.7mg dose in between. It is the same drug.

Amazing thank you!!🙏

Yogurt and berries/fruit? My go to breakfast is Greek yogurt (high protein) and berries or pomegranate seeds

I also have fruit & yogurt but add a couple of scoops of protein powder and a teaspoon of ground flaxseed to keep me regular!

Sorry for all the folks feeling so sick. Do the old morning sickness tricks work? Sipping ginger tea etc.

I've been approved for Juniper. They have this in my treatment plan:

Please note, on this plan you will be on the 0.5mg dose for your second and third month. This is because there is a global shortage of Ozempic 1mg pens and we therefore need to limit the amount of 1mg treatment we provide until the shortage resolves. In addition, our medical team advises that this slightly slower titration schedule will be beneficial in helping to minimise the chance of side effects, as it gives your body more time to adjust to the medication.

Anyone think this is a issue?

I would choose a different provider since Juniper aren’t the cheapest and have supply issues re the 1mg pen. I mean, you may end up being happy to stick with 0.5mg for 2 months rather than 1 but then again you may not. Other providers at least offer you the choice.

Yes good idea, sounds like a very nice breakfast. Any recommendations for a good quality protein powder?

The Team RH protein powder is the nicest I've ever tried. You don't have to b

AndSoFinally · 19/02/2023 15:10

be following the plan to buy it

TheGrandUpwards · 19/02/2023 15:13

Thanks for the advice on Juniper. I'll see how it goes, but might cancel after the first month and move to something cheaper.

It feels rather disingenuous of them tbh.

Hi... I've been reading all three threads as I started ozempic in early January and it's my go-to if I need any information about it! I think I'm about week 7 now and doing 0.5. I've lost 9lbs in that time and wondering if anyone has found that changing injection site has made much difference? It's working really well for me, definite appetite suppression, but I'm thinking about trying my stomach or arm to see if it speeds things up a bit?
Otherwise I'm just delighted to find something that has actually changed the way my head/mouth/stomach thinks about food. I can go for hours without even realising I've not eaten for a while which is just amazing!

Whatsblueandflies · 19/02/2023 17:06

@Athena51 I am thinking of signing up for this but have a few questions if you/ someone can help me
1 - is one company better/cheaper than another or is their one that people tend to use.
2 -if you stop talking the meds do the cravings come back?
3 - have anyone stopped using it and the weight has stayed off?
4- what are the common side effects?

i desperately need to do something but it’s a big investment for me so I want to know it’s the right choice for me

I don’t find it makes any difference to anything if I inject into my arm or stomach. I alternate it.

Sorry I meant my leg or stomach- haven’t tried my arm yet.

orangelotus · 19/02/2023 17:09

it's just a subcutaneous injection. It really won't make any difference where you inject it. Just do what you find easiest/ most comfortable

LeopardPuff · 19/02/2023 17:12

Thanks both. I'm going to try my stomach this week in the ridiculous hope that because it's nearer to my actual digestive system it might work better 😂 I've only ever done my thigh so far.

Sounds like it’s working ok already?
But I get it - quicker results would be great

LeopardPuff · 19/02/2023 17:20

Yes it is working but anything I can do to maximise results - I seem to lose a couple of lbs over about 3 days then plateau for about 4 days so to try and get the weight loss days to stretch out a bit more is my aim I suppose. This pattern seems to repeat over most weeks so I'm going to change things up and see what happens.

i desperately need to do something but it’s a big investment for me so I want to know it’s the right choice for me

  1. I've used Medical Weightloss 4 U for most of my journey - Ozempic was quite a bit cheaper back when I started it! Very good but not the cheapest. I'm currently using Quickmeds who are excellent and a fair bit cheaper. Going fir the very cheap can be a false economy - there are some scammers out there.
  2. I've had breaks where I've worked on maintaining and I haven't found the weight or the cravings rushing back but I still have a few stone to lose.
  3. With any diet, if you go back to how you ate before, then you will regain the weight. I'm using the diet boost I get from the drug to change my habits so that doesn't happen. I do know someone who has lost over 5 stone, come off Ozempic and has maintained her loss. I am determined to do the same!
  4. Common side effects are mostly gastro-intestinal. Nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhoea. Tiredness. I had nausea, sulphur burps and extreme tiredness, I also have very vivid dreams. The only side effect I have now is appetite suppression and feeling full quickly. I have no "food noise" in my head. I get hungry, I eat a small, balanced meal. I stop and I get on with my day.

It's been a game changer for me but it does require work on your part. It's a tool not a magic bullet.

I hope that's helpful!

I'm with Juniper and stated I wasn't happy staying on 0.5 (as it had stopped being effective) and they have agreed to up my dose to 1mg.

RumNotRun · 19/02/2023 17:49

I am feeling pissed off today. I am on week 3 of 0.5 (inject on Fridays) and I am STARVING!!! I've lost nothing in the last fortnight but that's understandable as I was away last weekend and ate 3 meals a day (even when not hungry) plus drank a lot. I am just so bloody hungry and it's all I can think about. I had a lentil and mince Bolognese type thing about half an hour ago, didn't eat it all, but I'm hungry again but don't fancy eating any of the food I have in the house. Urggghhh. Hopefully this is just a weird Sunday feeling and tomorrow I'll be back to the new normal.

MiniCooperLover · 19/02/2023 19:28

First period since starting 🙈 Periods are stretching out anyway due to peri menopause so I'm at 37/40 days so far. We are also away with family so they're questioning my lack of appetite and seem confounded by my willingness to have smaller portions. Tells me we all eat too much 🙄🙈🙈 Feeling v nauseous for first time on plan, I'm guessing I'm not drinking as much water and the food here is very carb based with very little healthy food no matter what I've tried to do
