Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

Hi, I'm currently on week 9 on 1mg and have had a terribly upset stomach since the higher dose (last Thursday) has anyone else had this and does this pass? Appetite suppression is brilliant but I just feel rubbish

I didn't have stomach pain but felt just generally rubbish after my first 1mg dose.
I've decided this week to split the dose.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 06/03/2023 15:59

orangelotus · 06/03/2023 12:18

i had a few days last week where i thought i had a virus. freezing shivering nausea and abdominal pains but i think it was the increase in dose .
i'm fine now but very tired in the evening s - weight loss has stalled at the moment but from what others have said that seems routine x
I imagine if the appetite suppression is good at 0.5mgs is there a good reason to increase?
mine was wearing off so i have gone up but thinking maybe 0.5 twice a week or every four days might be easier to manage?

I felt generally a bit rubbish and extreme fatigue after increasing my dose.
I've taken 0.5 this morning and will take another dose on Wednesday.
Hopefully I'll feel better!

Have been reading along and quietly impressed.

Day 5 today and definitely feeling hungrier than I have been although my planned 1600 calories seems doable still (this may seem like a high calorie amount to some but I'm big (as in tall) and have previously struggled to even cut to 1800 cals)

I think tomorrow will be a struggle but is a double exercise day anyway so may allow myself an extra 100-150 cals.

Is everyone weighing every week? Contemplating trying not to weigh until the end of March - have previously found no loss/a smaller loss than planned extremely demotivating. But not sure if that a good idea, or even if I could manage that!

I prefer to weigh every day and plot it in my app (Monitor My Weight)
It put it into a graph and demonstrates that even with plateaus, the general trajectory is downwards. I'll attach mine...

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 06/03/2023 16:06

I love this App. It's really motivating and reminds you that you are going in the right direction!

@pearlandperidot I pay to weigh at Boots, so I only weigh about once a month. I find the fat percentage reading useful rather than just overall weight (my similar home scales have broken).
Upside: it has stopped me from stressing too much about losses, gains and plateaus. I can just see a downward trend from month to month.
Downside: it can be very frustrating and make it more difficult to identify what is working for you (doses, food, macros etc).

@Cozytoesandtoast00 I like your graph! How great to see a downward trajectory ☺️

suphi · 06/03/2023 16:37

I'm a "weigh every day and look at the trend" girl too. I use the Libra app because it connects to my Withings scale. The green line on mine is my stated goal line (Feb 2024), I'm ahead atm, hurrah! The little "blobs" are my actual weight and the main line is the trend. Like you, I find it really motivating.

How do you find the scales that measure body fat % . Do you think it's accurate? Any that you'd recommend?

Twiglets1 · 06/03/2023 16:49

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 06/03/2023 15:08

The heartburn since going up to 0.50mg is unreal. I literally drank some water this morning and it still feels like acid. I hope this settles down

Try drinking some milk, it helped me with the acid.
Unless you are lacto intolerant of course

suphi · 06/03/2023 17:17

I'm not sure any of them are hugely accurate but if you weigh at the same time and I'm the same circumstances (for me as soon as I get up before easting and drinking) they're a great tool for comparison. Like the weight reading, it's the trend that matters and that's fine.

RichTeaCheddars · 06/03/2023 17:21

Yes, good point! Thanks.

Thinking of getting one as I'm so far from where I need to be it's going to take so so long to loose the weight I need to but I'm hoping that if I can see my body re-composition in figures as well it'll help me stay motivated.
Starting with a personal trainer this week, once a week for now, so I'm hoping to see an increase in muscle mass as well as a decrease in fat!

I took my first dose on Friday and have noticed I have a slightly reduced appetite and massively reduced sugar cravings which is great. But there's something else I've noticed too and wanted to see if anyone else was the same.

Other than food, I have 2 other vices - diet coke and vaping (although I'm ashamed to say the vaping is a fairly new thing and not a long held habit). But I haven't had a craving for either since I took the Oz on Friday. Has anyone else noticed that? Surely it can't be related.

Hello there, yes my diet coke addiction, between 1-3 cans a day, went instantly after first jab. Ive lost 7 lb since starting on 17 feb. About 2lb a week on average. It is so weird how someone's biology re sugar can affect so many other cravings/vices.

suphi · 06/03/2023 17:24

Forgot to say, I've had a Withings for 5 years and wouldn't be without it. It reads weight, BF, muscle and water weight, and tells me the weather for the day 😅. It even wishes me happy birthday on the right day! Before that I had a Blue Anatomy (now renpho (sp??)) That was Bluetooth only and the interface was slightly more clunky. It also took 4 years of data with it when the website went down because there was no local storage of info. I'm really glad that I was fairly food at entering it all in MFP.

IAmBreathingIn · 06/03/2023 18:02

@suphi Your Withings sound great, much better than my ancient Salter set (about 20 years old!). I didn't realise home scales were so advanced now. I can't afford any atm,

IAmBreathingIn · 06/03/2023 18:03

Sorry, hit post by accident!

I was just going to say I can't afford any atm, but will certainly look into these. Thanks for the tip! ☺️

Hi all. Welcome to the new starters ☺️ well done on the losses 👏🏻 and stick with it to those plateauing 💪🏻

I'm on week 8 and have been taking 0.5mg for a while. The past two days I have been very nauseous and had a dicky tummy, and I was wondering what has caused it so out of the blue. The only foods I can think of which might have triggered it are coffee or avocado - has anybody else experienced this with these foods, or got any advice in general? Thank you 🙏🏻

I have half an avocado quite regularly for lunch. Never had a problem. But then who knows what will affect different people!

IcanandIwill · 06/03/2023 18:31

Day 5 here. Can certainly feel the initial impact waring off a little. But I have still remained within calories and still feeling very full after a reasonable size meal. I'd normally be picking and snacking by now of an evening but have felt no need. I did have one chunk of chocolate earlier in the day and was lovely to be able to just leave it at one. I'd normally find that really hard.

OneAndDon3 · 06/03/2023 18:43

@pearlandperidot I'm in the not weighing camp. My plan is to weigh in June. I am trying to change my mindset and my attitude to food rather than focusing on numbers.
I'm big on celebrating the non scale achievements though!

themuminator · 06/03/2023 19:04

@Cozytoesandtoast00 oh I like that app. I have been able to connect it to my withings scales.

Loving my hilarious graph right now!

I do My fitness Pal but I like this graph better. It's all about keeping a record for accountability. I also have a bullet journal I'm trying out. It's a bit crap compared to the creative pages I've seen on Pinterest!

I've noticed that since starting I've lost my alcohol cravings . I haven't drunk at all since starting a week ago and don't even fancy it. That's a massive benefit for me both in saved calories and my liver!

Thanks @themuminator ☺️

I now have terrible sulphur burps and feel very, very nauseous 🤢 I haven't really experienced this before. I know some helpful peeps have given some advice to combat this in the earlier posts but I can't find them atm. Does anyone have any advice, please?! 😩🤢

@Twinkle71 Me too! I haven't touched a drop since my first injection. I have even been to the pub and sat there with a tonic water. As you say, it's a chance to give the liver a rest (especially after the festive season! lol).

polopolopolopoo · 06/03/2023 20:09

@Twinkle71 @IAmBreathingIn me too, no desire for alcohol either. Can only be a good thing 😀

ladyforallseasons · 06/03/2023 20:36

So week 8 and am on 0.5.
No side effects, no hunger suppression, am eating for England!

What's happened?

I feel really down as in the first three weeks the appetite suppression was enormous!
Will it be better on 1mg or should I go back to 0.25?

Not sure what is happening!
I'm hungry all the time at the moment and can't stop thinking about my next meal is 😂

Can you take 2x0.5 per week - 3 or 4 days apart maybe?

Peridot1 · 06/03/2023 22:00

A lot of people have found 0.5g twice a week to be more effective than 1mg.
