“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD TWO

Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

OP posts:
Happierwithouthim · 12/02/2023 13:01

My boyfriend is a very healthy eater anyway and is fully supportive of my ozempic journey so there's never any pressure in any direction

Athena51 · 12/02/2023 13:08

I've not hidden it from DP, he's taken in my delivery and seen it in the fridge. I just say that it's a weight loss thing. Unlike my ex-h who was nosy to the point of opening my post (one of the many reasons he's an ex!) DP is super relaxed about anything that I want to do and wouldn't dream of offering his opinion or being judgemental. He's really proud of my weight loss though. despite never ever commenting on my weight, even when I was at my heaviest. He's such a total darling.

MaireadMcSweeney · 12/02/2023 13:22

I'm not sure why I didn't tell DP. I do regret it but it feels too late now to come clean! He's not judgemental at all and I think he'd approve in terms of insulin and ghrelin management - he's into fasting for the same reason and is often trying to make me read things about how weight loss isn't about calories but hormones. I think I was a bit pissed off with him when I started it and now I'm committed 😆

IAmBreathingIn · 11/02/2023 17:04

I thought the 0.25 pens have 6 doses so 1.5mg? So the 0.5 pen has more at 2mg total? I could be wrong there.

I thought that too. So far I've had 2mg out of my 0.25 pen - and there's still some left 🤷🏼‍♀️

I know the answer to this: it has 1.5ml of solution but 2mg of semaglutide you can actually get 4x0.25 doses and 2x0.5 doses out of a 0.25 pen (or 4x0.5 doses of course) it’s great

IAmBreathingIn · 12/02/2023 23:23

Thanks for explaining @OzzyOzworn ☺️

MaireadMcSweeney · 13/02/2023 06:23

Well into the 13s today 😊

HermioneWeasley · 13/02/2023 08:51

Well done @MaireadMcSweeney !

Excellent @MaireadMcSweeney.

I am down almost 2lbs from last week. Pretty pleased. The jump to taking 0.5 every three days has worked I think.

Still waking up hungry though. Was hoping to be able to do intermittent fasting while on Ozempic but I get too hungry. Which is annoying as I’ve never been someone who can eat first thing.

Athena51 · 13/02/2023 08:57

Brilliant job @MaireadMcSweeney. I'm about 2lbs down, just 3.2lbs away from my 5 stone loss - hoping I can get there by the end of February!.

Twiglets1 · 13/02/2023 09:00

You’re all doing so well @MaireadMcSweeney @Peridot1 @Athena51 😀

I wake up hungry, get hungry for lunch but by dinner I can barely eat half what I would have eaten before. I was hoping to do 16:8 too but it seems the hunger hormones are highest in the morning. I can't really skip dinner as I eat with DP and I'm the cook of the house!

Goawayangryman · 13/02/2023 09:35

I've been away for a bit! But still ticking along nicely, sounds like everyone else is too. I started 6 weeks ago and seem to have settled into a pattern of about 1kg a week loss, or just under. Very happy with that!

MiniCooperLover · 13/02/2023 09:59

I'm not convinced intermittent fasting works on this medication, I'm finding regular three meals but smaller portions is helping and I'm trying to do more lower carb as I think that's what's going to be more sustainable long term? I don't know, all a bit guess work I guess. Third weigh in tomorrow and fourth injection too.

Prettybubblesintheair · 13/02/2023 10:38

I’ve just done my second injection into my tummy but I forgot to pinch the skin! Will it be ok? I have a lot of weight on my tummy.

Yes it's fine

Peridot1 · 13/02/2023 12:53

@MaireadMcSweeney - actually you are right. I’m the same. Appetite is much smaller in the evening. Which is presumably why I wake up hungry.

orangelous · 13/02/2023 13:12

just saw the loose women ( don't judge me!!) discussing the "slimming jab"
Glad i'm keeping it to myself after hearing their perspective!!!
Yes it would be good to eat less move more , I'm sure none of us have ever tried that approach or join a slimming club - yet again who knew they existed!
I'm so happy that I have all of you to support me plus I am now 17lbs down since December.!

OneAndDon3 · 13/02/2023 17:00

I wonder how much of it is them not being able to be seen endorsing it?

I do not believe for one second that if any of them had struggled with obesity and insulin resistance they wouldn't try this route.

Supposedly KK did to fit into Marilyn's dress for the Met Ball. But the press around that was all about her eating nothing but tomatoes to lose the weight. Famous people in lying to the press about their weight loss shocker.

HeyMicky · 13/02/2023 17:27

Who wants a weird NSW? I have chub rub because my jeans are too loose and were slipping down on a dog walk 😆

that's a great NSV except that the chafing sounds painful!

Yes totally fine, the pinching the fat is so it hurts less (not that it hurts at all anyway)

Twwodoorsaway · 13/02/2023 19:43

There are some really inspiring results here. @Athena51 you’ve done so well, brilliant work. I’m still having quite a good effect. We were out for a meal with visiting family Friday and I had two starters, which was ample for me, I was really full after. And Saturday we had friends round for dinner, and I only managed half of mine. No one noticed thankfully, as I’m not ready to confess to all and sundry. My DH does know, and is very supportive. He is losing weight due to me cooking more healthy meals and smaller portions which is good too. I’m lucky with no side effects, sympathies to those of you being sick.

My DS has just sent the link to pharmacies stocking it in the uk (he is also on Ozempic). He has found the loss slowing but isn’t yet on the full dose and as he is tall and heavier, I think he might need that to fully work.

RebelGeek76 · 13/02/2023 20:45

I'm just coming up to the end of my second week but I've noticed that my appetite suppression is more psychological than physical. I don't feel physically full/uncomfortable but it's like my brain is telling me I've had enough, does that make sense at all? Have a 3 year old so have a lot of sweet/savoury treats in our cupboard and not been tempted by them at all...such a weird feeling but I'm not complaining!

This is exactly how I feel! I'm at the same stage as you. I do wonder whether that when we get to the higher doses it will be more physical.

I've never had a full filter, or at least until after I have finished eating. Now, I just need eat smaller meals but feel satisfied afterwards rather than starving.

I get tempted my sweet stuff but happy to avoid it.

I have little appetite 4 weeks in but have no idea whether the appetite suppression is physical or psychological.
Maybe it doesn’t matter as long as the result is the same.
