“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD TWO

Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

OP posts:

0.25 and 0.5 have exactly the same contents and for some suppliers the 0.25 is cheaper.

I thought the 0.25 pens have 6 doses so 1.5mg? So the 0.5 pen has more at 2mg total? I could be wrong there.

@Peridot1 you could try lying and saying you've already started on 0.5 😳 that's what I would do 🤷🏼‍♀️

Peridot1 · 11/02/2023 16:49

That I for wasnt for me @MaireadMcSweeney. I’ve been on it a year and get the 1mg pens. It was someone starting,

@MaireadMcSweeney - what scales did you weigh in this morning to get your 13st 14 weight? Someone has started a thread about it!

I've got an old pair of salter scales but they are pretty reliable without much fluctuation

MaireadMcSweeney · 11/02/2023 16:52

Oh sorry - the quote history confused me

IAmBreathingIn · 11/02/2023 17:04

I thought that too. So far I've had 2mg out of my 0.25 pen - and there's still some left 🤷🏼‍♀️

Peridot1 · 11/02/2023 17:06

I am so confused by the doses in pens. Wish they’d make it more obvious

Athena51 · 11/02/2023 18:48

I've been back on Ozempic since near the beginning of January and I've lost about 10lbs (some of that was Christmas water weight) a few lbs from my 5 stone loss now but still plenty to go (not sure about goal weight just yet).

I've been fine but having to exert a bit of willpower but I injected last night and it obviously builds up because it's really kicked in today. I didn't eat until gone 1pm and only managed literally 3 mouthfuls of my lovely overnight oats with berries and I've just had dinner and left loads of it.

Not complaining!

Oigetoffmylawn · 11/02/2023 19:37

I've lost a total of 7lbs now since 9th Jan, so 1 month. I'm pleased with that as I haven't had to try at all!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 11/02/2023 20:28

The 0.25 and 0.5 owns both have a total of 2 mg in them so 8 0.25 does or 4 0.5 doses. This was buried on page 6 of the information leaflets from Health express.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 11/02/2023 20:28

Pens not owns

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 11/02/2023 20:31

Also what I experienced when I had each of those pens.

polopolopolopoo · 11/02/2023 20:40

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun this is good to know 👍 And how much does the 1mg pen have? Just 1mg???

Well hopefully 4mg as the pen I've just received is for 4 x 1mg doses.....but I'm hoping to use it for 8 x 0.5mg doses

4mg. It's 1mg x 4 doses.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 12/02/2023 05:12

Yes the 1mg pen has 4 mg in total for 4 1 mg doses. Much better value as it is not twice the price of the smaller ones but you should only use it for up to six weeks officially.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 12/02/2023 07:46

I've had a strange week this week.
Before this week I had consistent losses but this week has been very strange!
I'm about to take my 8th 0.5 dose tomorrow.
I had a lapse one day this week and ate a lot of sugar. I then ate way more then I'm used to the following days as the appetite suppression had changed.
I also had periods of feeling shaky (low blood sugar?) After leaving too long between meals. I put on weight this week.
I hoping next week will be better...

HolibobsinApril · 12/02/2023 07:59

There is an article out today, admittedly in the daily fail saying that Ozempic is being released in spring and will be sold in Boots.

Interesting... I found the article

Peridot1 · 12/02/2023 09:39

Interesting all right. Seems to indicate it will be Wegovy rather than Ozempic.

Athena51 · 12/02/2023 10:25

The state of the comments!

That thread on here the other day that a lot of us commented on sums up the attitude to obesity, particularly on MN. They hate and despise fat people and we are supposed to go away and hide in sackcloth until we are presentable but they also hate anything that might make losing weight easier or even just possible for us (bariatric surgery, weight loss drugs).

It's as though we have to suffer while losing weight, that's our punishment for getting fat in the first place. It's seriously fucked up.

MaireadMcSweeney · 12/02/2023 10:39

There is very little acknowledgment that obesity is a physical health condition, usually chronic, which stems from psychological causes but absolutely becomes a physical problem. Becoming not obese is possible to do with a VLCD or LAHF but staying not obese is extremely difficult especially when you have been obese for a long time.
Because obesity brings a whole host of other serious health problems it needs a holistic treatment plan INCLUDING medical approaches.

Peridot1 · 12/02/2023 10:41

You are so right @Athena51. It is all our own fault. We are just fat lazy idiots. It’s easy to lose weight. Thankfully some of the medical professionals are getting a bit better. And there is quite a lot of research going on. But to a lot of Joe Public they have no interest in understanding the issues with obesity. Particularly long term obesity.

Twiglets1 · 12/02/2023 11:38

God I hadn’t noticed the comments until you pointed them out @Athena51

I know there are potential nasty side effects as the Daily Mail crew point out. But lots of them sound really pig ignorant. And no acknowledgement that obesity can often lead to diabetes and other severe health problems, or that most obese people have previously tried to lose weight by more traditional means.
I don’t intend to use Ozempic or equivalent for more than a year personally. But I do want to get my BMI in the normal range before I stop using it & then it will be up to me to maintain the weight loss.

MaireadMcSweeney · 12/02/2023 12:43

Problem with not telling DP I'm on ozempic is he just bought me a brownie at the cafe 2 hours after eating breakfast and I had to eat most of it - managed to give some to him but I feel sick now :( thankfully he's buying himself chips for lunch so I can swerve that and wait to eat til later (he just quit smoking so he's on an eat everything kick!!)

Oh that must have been so hard 😅
Luckily my husband is on a diet too so we are both trying to eat healthier food. I feel guilty that it’s so much easier for me though and he doesn’t know why! He gets some benefits like I will offer to drive when we go out for dinner tonight. I don’t particularly want to drink anymore now I know it doesn’t take much to make me feel sick now I’m eating less.
