Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

I started at 14st13lbs on 14th Nov so it's taken 3 months to lose 16lbs. I'm delighted because I'm such a slow loser & this doesn't seem drastic weight loss to the outsider.

RebelGeek76 · 06/02/2023 09:03

I'm 5 days in and happy to report a 4lb loss this morning. I'm currently also combining this with keto as my DP is also doing keto so I'm 5.4lbs down in a week. I'm know most of this is likely to be water loss rather than true fat/weight loss but either way the scales are moving in the right direction.

Does anyone also combine keto with Ozempic? I don't think I can mentally sustain keto for longer than 3 months as it feels like a lot of deprivation, but will switch to low carb after a while and try and sustain this once I've reached my target weight as I'm pretty certain I'm insulin sensitive and reducing carbs seems to be the only effective way for me to lose weight these days.

RebelGeek76 · 06/02/2023 09:08

@ladyforallseasons I didn't tell them I was splitting the doses, just following guidance I've seen here and other sources about administering smaller doses from a 1mg pen as it's more cost-effective. I'd imagine they're not going to want to tell us we can do that as they'll be out of pocket!

orangelous · 06/02/2023 09:09

i started on december 13th and have lost in total 16lbs. so including xmas and a two week holiday this seems good to me.
From today i'm aiming to cut out wine in the week. Keep to smaller portions and no snacking- the only time i am having a snack is when i am feeling nauseous. I usually have a rice cake which does the trick.
i have a once in a lifetime trip in 8 weeks time so would really love to be in the 11 stones bracket by then currently 12,8 so i think that is achievable

RebelGeek76 · 06/02/2023 09:14

I read the goady threads and wish I hadn't but I'm quite amused at how narrow-minded some people are about weight loss! Ask me 15-20 years ago and I would have likely agreed calories in/out as a solution based on my own experience at the time, but years of yo-yo dieting since and now declining hormones thrown into the mix I know that in mine and others case there are other factors at play! I struggle to even lose on VCLDs now as I've messed my hormones/metabolism up so much.

Yes I've not told them either....but they've mentioned it to me

RebelGeek76 · 06/02/2023 09:27

@ladyforallseasons as long as they're still happy to prescribe the 1mg to you I'd just not say anything further. I told them I was already on 0.5mg and due to increase to 1mg, if you haven't already told them what dose you're currently on I'd just say the same if they ask.

I had this debate with my husband yesterday (I haven't yet told him about the ozempic!). He was coming out with a load of keto diet cr*p, calories in calories out....

I am certain that I have a metabolic "problem". Something makes it incredibly difficult for me to lose weight - even on VLCD's I would lose very slowly.....

I have not successfully maintained my weight at a low level since pregnant with my first - I was literally unable to lose the baby weight...now I did show a couple of times a warning signs for gestational diabetes, but nothing concrete, baby was big.

I have twice done VLCD's and lost 3-4 stone, but cannot sustain it (and it is incredibly difficult to get there).

Suddenly now on Ozempic I no longer have that gnawing hunger that was always there...I'm suspecting it is regulating my insulin/glucagon and helping

All of a sudden I am losing weight on a no- calorie-counting, low-carb-ish (1400-1600/day) eat-less-move-more regime.

I have lost more weight this week than week 1 of a 450cal VLCD, and I'm eating 3x the calories.

Athena51 · 06/02/2023 09:37

Morning everyone - you are all doing so well! I started at just over 20 stone and this Saturday I was 15st 6 so I'm a few pounds off my 5 stone loss now. I'm in my mid fifties, post-menopausal and like many of you, I have a decades long history of successful and unsuccessful diets. There's a picture of me next to the dictionary entry for "yo-yo dieter".

I still have a way to go as I want to get down to about 11stone to be in the healthy BMI range - fortunately I'm quite tall. I really hope to achieve that or at least get close, this year.

I don't feel bad about taking Ozempic, it's a tool that has quieted the food chatter in my head. I still have to do the work but it makes it much easier for me to stick to a calorie deficit and make better choices.

Like @Peridot1 I am changing my habits and working on improving my eating now so that I can slowly wean myself off in the future. We are all doing what we can to be healthier. I've been lucky to avoid any health consequences so far but if I had carried on the way I was going, I would have ended up diabetic or worse so this really is a do or die for me.

Anyway, that's my story! Have a good day, I am grateful for this little, supportive group.

congratulations that's a great story! How long has that taken?

Athena51 · 06/02/2023 10:34

@orangelous Thank you. It's been just over a year but it's been a bit on and off. I had a break when I had Covid and during the shortages but didn't put much back on. I'm being much more dedicated now to ty and get it one.

Athena51 · 06/02/2023 10:34

Try and get it done, that should say - my keyboard has issues!

Karrieee · 06/02/2023 10:37

Hello! New to the thread. Looking at either QuickMeds or Juniper to order. Would be grateful for advice on either and a code if possible. Thanks

MiniCooperLover · 06/02/2023 10:54

Hi, Karrieee, I'll PM you a Juniper code.

StuckInTheUpsideDown · 06/02/2023 11:40

@Athena51 that’s amazing progress well done you!

MaireadMcSweeney · 06/02/2023 12:10

Well, I just did a thing and not sure how I feel about it. I was hungry and went into cafe Nero for a coffee. I saw the last slice of vegan cheesecake and decided I wanted it. I've never tried it before and I'm not sure why I did today. I could happily have waited til I get home for lunch but went on a craving. I've not had sweet cravings since starting ozempic so not sure where it came from! I ate the whole slice and definitely now feel a bit sick but then it was very sickly. I've been consistently eating 3 small meals a day and losing so I'm not going to beat myself up about one day but I'm not keen to repeat it. Not only because it's not a good choice but because I don't feel great now. Still, live and learn, onwards and upwards!

orangelous · 06/02/2023 12:14

snap!! ate two crumpets with butter and marmite!! however i enjoyed them such a lot and thinking if you cannot have something you like sometimes then what's the point of life!!

Abeachsomewhere · 06/02/2023 12:32

I haven’t posted for a little while - had a dreadful week last week from a stress point of view and the two at once 0.25 doses I had taken on the Sunday as my fourth injection didn’t seem to suppress my appetite much at all, so I cheated for over half the week.

I did my first official injection of 0.50 yesterday and so far so good. I’ve now lost 20 pounds in five weeks and that’s with three-four days of eating whatever I wanted last week! I’m so happy I decided to try Ozempic, absolutely no regrets so far for me.

I can see that I’ll definitely need to move up to 1mg when the time comes, the 0.50 is only just suppressing my appetite (unlike with the 0.25 I also have to muster some willpower to avoid bad foods/big portions at the moment).

My daily menu looks something like this:

Breakfast

Small portion of Kellogg’s Special K with skimmed milk or porridge (under 200 calories)

Mid morning

Small skinny latte with sugar free syrup (under 100 calories)

Lunch

Couscous with veg or some type of salad with beans or protein (under 300 calories)

Dinner

Healthy ready meal and piece of fruit (under 450 calories)

Peridot1 · 06/02/2023 14:53

@Athena51 - well done. That’s a fantastic result.

@MaireadMcSweeney - we all do it. You were hungry. It was there. Don’t beat yourself up.

@Abeachsomewhere - I think you need a lot more protein in your meals. Especially breakfast. That would stop you being hungry. Special K and porridge would both raise my blood sugar really quickly and leave me hungry later.

HolibobsinApril · 06/02/2023 15:00

@Athena51 that's a great story, well done. What dose are you on now? I do wonder whether when you get up to 1mg that it is enough or whether you get used to it and need to continue taking higher doses.

When you have come off it, how have you felt?

How have you dealt with any loose skin? I bought some collagen today in the hope that my neck wont bee too bad. I have quite a big double chin and it goes quite quickly when I loose weight but it goes really wrinkled and saggy. If anyone has any tips I would be grateful.

Well done everyone. I'm so far so pleased I am on this. I feel it has taken my greedy streak away.

HermioneKipper · 06/02/2023 15:23

First week done and 3lbs down.

I fell asleep really early after putting the kids to bed last night and didn’t do my next dose so did it this morning.

@HolibobsinApril I'm on 1mg now, I don't have any negative side effects but it still curbs my appetite so I haven't had to go any higher. I split my dose though as I find it more effective - usually 0.5 every four days? I think I might be one of those lucky people who find it really works for them.

Even when I came off it, the effect seemed to last ages, I put on a few pounds at Christmas but it came off in a week so it must have just been water weight.

I don't really have any loose skin at the moment but I've got a far amount of fat filling it up! I weight train and have quite a lot of muscle, I also seem to have the kind of skin that doesn't wrinkle and bounces back well. I carry my weight pretty evenly all over rather than round my middle so that might make a difference. I will inevitably have some loose skin as I get nearer goal but I'll deal with that as and when. No real issues with neck but I am fully prepared to have fillers/thread lift/collagen/whatever if required (vain old bird that I am!).

Peridot1 · 06/02/2023 15:51

I was going to ask what dose you were on too @Athena51. Interesting that you are splitting the dose. I was going to increase my dose today to 1.5 but contacted someone from the company I get mine from and got advice from them to split the dose too. 0.5 every three days. Am going to give that a go. The person I contacted has done it and got to target - 7 stone loss! She did Ozempic in conjunction with Slimming World.

restingwitchfaces · 06/02/2023 16:04

Checking in as it’s been a while. 10lb lost in six weeks which I’m over the moon about. Lower than I have been for about 3 years(even when I had a PT 😉). Loving reading everyone’s inspiring progress. It’s not a magic bullet but it really has balanced me out, for the first time in my adult life I’m eating like a normal person. I turned down cake at the weekend because I just didn’t have the urge. The vitriol on the other thread has made me realise just how much morality policing is enmeshed with women and weight loss. I suspect I will be on some form of this drug for a long time. The last few weeks has shown me that something in my body was / is very unbalanced and all the PT sessions and calories in calories out mentality wasn’t the fix.

SuperSange · 06/02/2023 16:10

JFC. I'm on my last week of 0.5 and Ive suddenly got diaorreah. I'd put it down to wine disagreeing with me as I usually o my have one, but had three. That was Saturday night and I'm still suffering. I'm now wondering if it's the Ozempic? Surely not after two months? Has anyone else had similar?
