Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

no re the diarrhoea- could be a gastroenteritis?

hope it gets better soon.
also is anyone counting calories? if so what are you using to do it? just looked at my fitness pal but i really don't want to be paying more !!

FatandNearlyFifty · 06/02/2023 16:18

Checking in a little late after the 2nd injection. 1st was on Friday, a few days after delivery as I had a meeting to attend in person and didn't want to feel rubbish. Hardly ate anything in the 1st week, normally one meal a day but Tuesday/Wednesday noticed at lunch time needed a snack, handful of grapes seemed to do it til tea time.

2nd injection done last Thursday evening. Like a pp there was a little clear fluid when I lifted the pen, so next time I'll leave in situ til count of 10. Same side effects as the previous week, burping a lot and very minimal appetite but drinking plenty of fluids. Stirfry's and fish/veg meals sit ok, heavy meat and spaghetti bol results in feeling extremely full and uncomfortable. Even scrambled eggs are off the menu!

What is incredible (and I have a lot to lose) is the weight loss, 10lbs down and 10 cm from waist measurement in the space of 2 weeks.

Peridot1 · 06/02/2023 16:27

@orangelous - I think you can do My Fitness Pal for free? I do. You only have to pay for the premium version.

I was going to ask what dose you were on too @Athena51. Interesting that you are splitting the dose. I was going to increase my dose today to 1.5 but contacted someone from the company I get mine from and got advice from them to split the dose too. 0.5 every three days. Am going to give that a go. The person I contacted has done it and got to target - 7 stone loss! She did Ozempic in conjunction with Slimming World.

I know who you're talking about - I am on that group as well! She's maintaining her loss really well too.

Checking in as it’s been a while. 10lb lost in six weeks which I’m over the moon about. Lower than I have been for about 3 years(even when I had a PT 😉). Loving reading everyone’s inspiring progress. It’s not a magic bullet but it really has balanced me out, for the first time in my adult life I’m eating like a normal person. I turned down cake at the weekend because I just didn’t have the urge. The vitriol on the other thread has made me realise just how much morality policing is enmeshed with women and weight loss. I suspect I will be on some form of this drug for a long time. The last few weeks has shown me that something in my body was / is very unbalanced and all the PT sessions and calories in calories out mentality wasn’t the fix.

fabulous!!!! well done that's great!
ignore the others . it's routine to use medication to overcome physical difficulties.
Would they have the same attitude to nicotine replacement therapy ot taking analgesics for pain.

Morning everyone - you are all doing so well! I started at just over 20 stone and this Saturday I was 15st 6 so I'm a few pounds off my 5 stone loss now. I'm in my mid fifties, post-menopausal and like many of you, I have a decades long history of successful and unsuccessful diets. There's a picture of me next to the dictionary entry for "yo-yo dieter".

I still have a way to go as I want to get down to about 11stone to be in the healthy BMI range - fortunately I'm quite tall. I really hope to achieve that or at least get close, this year.

I don't feel bad about taking Ozempic, it's a tool that has quieted the food chatter in my head. I still have to do the work but it makes it much easier for me to stick to a calorie deficit and make better choices.

Like @Peridot1 I am changing my habits and working on improving my eating now so that I can slowly wean myself off in the future. We are all doing what we can to be healthier. I've been lucky to avoid any health consequences so far but if I had carried on the way I was going, I would have ended up diabetic or worse so this really is a do or die for me.

Anyway, that's my story! Have a good day, I am grateful for this little, supportive group.

Wow @Athena51 you are an inspiration. Well Done and I’m sure there are great health benefits to what you are doing

MaireadMcSweeney · 06/02/2023 12:10

Well, I just did a thing and not sure how I feel about it. I was hungry and went into cafe Nero for a coffee. I saw the last slice of vegan cheesecake and decided I wanted it. I've never tried it before and I'm not sure why I did today. I could happily have waited til I get home for lunch but went on a craving. I've not had sweet cravings since starting ozempic so not sure where it came from! I ate the whole slice and definitely now feel a bit sick but then it was very sickly. I've been consistently eating 3 small meals a day and losing so I'm not going to beat myself up about one day but I'm not keen to repeat it. Not only because it's not a good choice but because I don't feel great now. Still, live and learn, onwards and upwards!

Gosh, I wouldn’t worry about an occasional slice of cake. I’m probably losing weight slower than some of you on here because I’m not very strict with myself. I don’t fancy sweet things as often but when I do, I allow myself a bit of what I fancy. I’m still losing weight so happy with that.

HolibobsinApril · 06/02/2023 15:00

@Athena51 that's a great story, well done. What dose are you on now? I do wonder whether when you get up to 1mg that it is enough or whether you get used to it and need to continue taking higher doses.

When you have come off it, how have you felt?

How have you dealt with any loose skin? I bought some collagen today in the hope that my neck wont bee too bad. I have quite a big double chin and it goes quite quickly when I loose weight but it goes really wrinkled and saggy. If anyone has any tips I would be grateful.

Well done everyone. I'm so far so pleased I am on this. I feel it has taken my greedy streak away.

I've read that water, protein and collagen help. Also try not to lose too much too quickly.

Athena51 · 06/02/2023 18:52

@Twiglets1 thank you, that's so kind of you. I feel very much better nearly 5 stone lighter. I used to get awful swollen feet and ankles and had no energy. I hardly had any clothes I could wear either. I was hobbling about in shapeless black and it was so horribly depressing. It seemed like such a mountain to climb that I was just paralysed and couldn't start at all.

I still have a way to go and have some pain from my dodgy knee, but I can get through my day with some energy to spare, go to the gym, and I am fitting back into more of my clothes (I have sizes ranging from 12-22!) I'm a 16 in most things now, aiming for a 12. I've never looked as big as I am but you can't disguise 9 extra stone!

It's not been cheap and I recognise my privilege in being able to afford it but it's giving me my life back so it's worth every penny.

MaryPoppinjay · 06/02/2023 18:56

Checking in after an up and down weekend food wise. Had friends over for dinner and whilst I was pretty restrained with food (no starter or pud and a very small portion of polenta & ragu) I had a few too many fizz and spent yesterday feeling dreadful. The sugar (?) from the booze left me feeling really out of sorts all day so yesterday was heavy on the comfort food. It wasn’t like a normal pre-Ozempic hangover - more shaky and low blood sugar feeling so I absolutely think the meds are doing something with regard to my insulin. I don’t drink very often so think I’ll largely skip booze until I’m down to target.

Today has been much better with poached eggs on gf toast and a delicious homemade salmon broth. Trying to up my protein and bring down the carbs as per @Peridot1 suggestion. It’s weird, I def crave carbs but know they make me feel yuk - huge disconnect between brain and gut.

@Athena51 I’m also worried about neck as although I don’t carry a lot of face weight I do have a very weak jawline and my neck is already starting to lose elasticity and looking a little jowly (late 40’s). I’ve started skin needling once a week and using a face sculpting tool every morning and night with my moisturiser/oil. I think it’s working a little bit so will keep it up. I’ve also ordered some collagen powder and eating a lot of salmon and veggies. Trying to up my water intake.

IAmBreathingIn · 06/02/2023 19:37

@Peridot1 and @MaireadMcSweeney thank you so much for the advice. I think I need to just accept that a higher level of carbs are part of my diet and stop stressing. It has been bothering me for a long time, before even starting Ozempic.

Having read some of the other posts about the potential for sagging skin (I'm also worried, especially around my double chin!) I'll accept my very slow weight loss as an opportunity to address that, instead of a disappointment at the lack of progress.

I'm not very good at looking after my face so would appreciate any advice re home remedies or treatments. Thank you ☺️

That sounds fantastic and like you have reclaimed your life back.
Yes we are lucky to be able to afford Ozempic. I also recognise my privilege in being able to afford it. It’s so good that you have the energy now for things like the gym.

Peridot1 · 06/02/2023 21:42

@Athena51 - I agree the benefits go beyond the scale and even clothes. My back doesn’t ache as much if I’m standing for a while. And I don’t snore anymore apparently!

I got my hair cut and coloured today and went quite a bit shorter. OMG. I have a saggy neck! Vertically just under my chin. I had sort of noticed but it’s more noticeable with my hair shorter. I have a Nu-Face Mini toning device I have never used and it’s currently charging and I’m going to use it every day. And actually take the collagen I have. Contemplating an emergency neck lift in the next week before I go away! (Only half joking!)

JFC. I'm on my last week of 0.5 and Ive suddenly got diaorreah. I'd put it down to wine disagreeing with me as I usually o my have one, but had three. That was Saturday night and I'm still suffering. I'm now wondering if it's the Ozempic? Surely not after two months? Has anyone else had similar?

This is interesting. I had my first wine in weeks two days ago and haven't felt right since...
Now I've just had horrendous diarrhoea! 🤔

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 07/02/2023 06:58

Official weigh in day and I have broken the 80kg barrier 😃

MiniCooperLover · 07/02/2023 07:13

Second weigh in today, only 1lb down but actually that averages 6lb in 2 weeks which is not to be sniffed at. I had way too much wine over the weekend and suffered for it yday, tired and cold all day. So that'll be a reminder to rein it in this weekend!!

Twiglets1 · 07/02/2023 07:24

I’ve also lost 6lb in 2 weeks, just had weekly weigh in. I’m not too strict with myself so very pleased with that.

Peridot1 · 07/02/2023 07:34

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun - always great to break through a number. I have a page with kilos, pounds and stones/lbs in columns and breaking through the various little goals is satisfying.

6lbs in two weeks is great @MiniCooperLover and @Twiglets1.

I had to buy a new set of scales two weeks ago as my others were a nightmare. And of course the new ones weigh differently. And not in a good way! So I’m not sure where I am really. I seemed to go up a bit in January but I’m back down now.

I need to up my fibre and water. Wine definitely doesn’t give me diarrhoea! Might help if it did!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 07/02/2023 08:12

Well done both of you for 6lb in two weeks - such a great start.

Athena51 · 07/02/2023 08:50

Great results @Twiglets1 and @MiniCooperLover well done!

Happierwithouthim · 07/02/2023 08:54

Weigh in day 13st 11lbs, down 16lbs since 14th November. 3.5lbs to go to break through 190lbs barrier but comfortable away from 14st now Grin

I get a bout of diarrhoea about once a week, I liken it to my body ridding itself of my weight/fat. I can now recognise the gurgling and know when it's imminent, it also normally follows a day of feeling a bit constipated.

OzzyOzworn · 07/02/2023 10:33

So 5th injection due tonight so technically should go upto 0.5 now. Debating staying on 0.25 for 2 more weeks to save money but last week I was down 8lb and now I’ve regained 2 weirdly but still down 6lb over 4 weeks so focusing on that! Side effects/appetite reduction gone so I think it’s time to up the dose.

Kfjsjdbd · 07/02/2023 11:19

I weighed myself today, it’s been 4 weeks and I’ve lost half a stone. I’m absolutely shocked, I really don’t think I’ve been too careful with my eating. Very excited to get down into 10 stone something maybe in the next couple of weeks.

I also haven’t had any negative side effects. No sickness at all, no sulphur burps, it’s been brilliant. So pleased I found this thread which encouraged me to start.

Starting weight: 11 stone 8
Current weight: 11 stone 1

Happierwithouthim · 07/02/2023 11:31

Wow I read the other thread, didn't post on it, even though I wholeheartedly disagree with what E30 says, a number of years ago I would've thought the same calories in vs calories out. Having spent thousands on a PT last year and following his advice to the letter and not losing an ounce Angry I know that this is not always the case!

I can't drink at all! 🤢
I'm ok with that though as I feel great!! 😊
