Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

Holibobs I was also really worried but I didn't wake up dead but did have real disappointment that I didn't instantly loose my appetite! I've been on 0.25 for 3 weeks and can definitely feel the difference. And have lost nearly 3 kilos . Good luck

Thank you.

Yay I survived!! 🤣

CaledonianSleeper · 03/02/2023 07:57

Thank you for the code @Cozytoesandtoast00, I really appreciate it. I’m going to try to work up the courage to order today - but strangely I feel exactly like @HolibobsinApril about it:

“I'm so so anxious that I'm going to be allergic to it and I'm gong to be really ill. Completely irrational as I've never been allergic to anything ever.”

It’s the injection I think, and the feeling that once it’s in I can’t get it out again even if I feel dreadful! Did anyone try the tablet version called Rybelsus, any luck with that..?

MaryPoppinjay · 03/02/2023 08:25

Thanks for your kind messages @Peridot1 and @OneAndDon3 yesterday. Feel much better today and pretty determined to bring this weight down.
I upped my dose to 1 yesterday and haven’t really felt any side effects (bar the constipation) but the gnawing hunger I had from 0.5 is gone which is a blessed relief. Tracking meals and weight daily in MyFitnessPal which really is such a help for anybody not using it. Every single bite is being tracked and I now see that whilst I thought I was on about 1500 calories a day (pre Ozempic) I was actually probably about 200-300 calories more due to snacking (on fruit, nuts etc but still calories). I was always loathe to measure calories and weight as I had a bad relationship with weight since an eating disorder as a teen but that avoidance has led to me being really overweight now.
Hope everybody feeling positive ahead of the weekend.

Peridot1 · 03/02/2023 08:48

@CaledonianSleeper - I switched to Rybelsus last year as I was going to Australia and I thought it would be easier when travelling. I didn’t really like it. You have to take it first thing on an empty stomach with a small amount of water and not eat or drink anything for about 20 mins I think. I could taste it and it wasn’t very nice. And I need my cup of tea first thing! Hated having to wait for that or kept forgetting and having it and forgetting the tablet. I much prefer the ease of the injection.

@MaryPoppinjay - glad you are feeling a bit better. I know what you mean about tracking. I should do it but like you have a bit of a chequered history with diets etc so am afraid to get obsessed. I find I pretty much don’t snack now so that cuts out calories quite easily.

I upped my dose this week - injected 1mg on Sunday and it was definitely not having a much of an effect on appetite so I had another 0.5 on Wednesday. It’s definitely helped.

CaledonianSleeper · 03/02/2023 09:02

Thank you @Peridot1 that’s really helpful - apart from the inconvenience, how did you find the effect on your appetite, was it anything like the injections?

Peridot1 · 03/02/2023 09:30

I’m not sure really as I forgot to take it a few times and then stopped. It still had some effect I think.

HolibobsinApril · 03/02/2023 09:42

I now know the meaning of Sulphur Burps! Any advice on these? I might have to go and buy some chewing gum.

Maybe peppermint tea? Mine aren't too odorous but they feel awful, like they are coming from the depths of my stomach and I can feel them rising up. It's disgusting !

HolibobsinApril · 03/02/2023 10:02

Yes, they seem to build very slowly. Grim.

OneAndDon3 · 03/02/2023 10:38

@CaledonianSleeper I think being scared of the injections is quite normal. Taking a pill feels easier somehow doesn't it, whereas the injection feels more like something a doctor should be doing.

These needles are the least scariest out there. They're so fine you can barely feel them going in. Pen delivery is so straightforward too. You just twist the dial and then push the needle in and hold the button on the pen down.

ButterfliesnWaterfalls · 03/02/2023 15:40

I haven’t told anyone about using ozempic. I get headaches anyway lol. I’m on week 2 day 2 and bad headache all day today. My snacking is reduced considerably. I’m really hoping I lose the weight and go to healthy weight that I need to be.

Has anyone used tablets and if so, are they as effective as the injection?

Twiglets1 · 03/02/2023 15:56

Honestly the needles are nothing to worry about, they are extremely fine and barely hurt at all. Just a little prick as they say 😉
And I say this as someone who is borderline needle phobic.

Peridot1 · 03/02/2023 16:31

@CaledonianSleeper - yes the needles are very easy to administer. I was used to it from doing ivf years ago. This is actually much easier.

@ButterfliesnWaterfalls - yes I have - I answered up the thread this morning.

Hello!
I've been following the threads since the beginning but just had my first dose this evening. I put it off for a week because I was too chicken to do the injection but it was fine! There was a tiny drop still left on the needle when I took it out but I think that was because I was so nervous it was a very fast count to six after the doser went back to zero.
Im both excited and nervous now and hoping for none of the bad side effects.
Ive 7 stone to lose and just have not been able to make headway so I'm hoping this is what I need.

I’ve had a tiny drop on the needle 2 times now but it definitely still seems to be working with regard to appetite suppression and weight loss.

HeyMicky · 04/02/2023 07:32

Checking in from the middle of a long weekend in Italy, which should be a gluttonous few days. But I've not needed breakfast at all, and I'm not able to finish any meal. Not fancied any snacks either.

Everything is so delicious and I'm enjoying everything, but I feel so much more controlled about portion sizes

I've heard on Reddit to keep the needle in for more like 10 seconds to make sure all the medication is in. It won't release more than the dose allocated.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 04/02/2023 08:05

I'm now coming towards the end of my 6th week (0.5)
I feel like the meds are building up in my system and my appetite is more reduced.
I've lost 3.5 lbs this week, which is great.
The mild headache has come back which I got in the first week. I think this may be period related though.
I started calorie counting (MFP) this week which I think is helpful.

Honestly I keep the needle in for ages, at least 10 seconds. The first time there was a tiny amount of clear fluid at the injection site, the second time a drop of blood. It’s ok, the drug is working at suppressing my appetite.

MaireadMcSweeney · 04/02/2023 08:34

I found appetite came back a bit yesterday and I ate more than I have been so I'm going to take my next dose of 0.5 today after 5 days instead of 7.

Happierwithouthim · 04/02/2023 08:58

My appetite was massive on Thurs, Monday normal injection day so I took it Fri morn. I'm definitely ready to go up the dosage for sure. Headache again too.

I think it's easy to get dehydrated on this as we have less fluid through food.
I'm aiming to to drink a glass of water before every coffee in the morning. I also start the day with a large glass of water. Mint tea in the afternoons.

Cappuccinopup · 04/02/2023 09:58

Hi all, just checking in. I did my third injection of 0.5 today, and lost 1.6lbs since my last injection, so 12.3lbs lost overall since the last week of December. Pretty happy with that!

I am now 28% towards my goal weight, and by bmi is 30.7 so not far off being ‘overweight’ rather than obese. My bmi started off at 32.7, so I have gone down a whole two BMI points in a pretty short space of time.

I have still had mild side effects despite going up to 0.5, and I am finding that the effects are lasting longer too, and I don’t get hungrier towards the end of the week. On the 0.25 dosage I was sometimes injecting around a day or two earlier if I felt like the effects were wearing off too much - I haven’t felt the need to do this with the 0.5 dosage yet.

Good luck to everyone with their progress! 😊

Cappuccinopup · 04/02/2023 09:59

Also think I am retaining water from PMS so expecting a bigger loss next week, fingers crossed! Usually I gain a few lbs in water retention the days before my period, so I was quite surprised to have lost anything 😂

Well done. Great progress.
I've been feeling the affects are laster longer too which is great (two 0.5 injections down)
When I was on 0.25 I had to use are lot of willpower in the last couple of days before the next injection.
