“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD TWO

Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

OP posts:

I’m on day 3 and my appetite is definitely still suppressed compared to usual.

Im feeling a bit nauseous today - was expecting it immediately so was surprised when that kicked in today.

have managed to stick to around 1000/1100 calories all 3 days without feeling hungry which normally I would find a huge struggle. And I haven’t wanted to snack constantly like usual either

RebelGeek76 · 01/02/2023 23:14

Hi, been following this and previous thread for a while. Took my first dose tonight, not expecting miracles but hope it helps as I suspect some kind on insulin sensitivity as had gestational diabetes 4yrs ago and was in pre-diabetic range 18 months ago and have struggled to lose/maintain with diet/exercise. Pretty much tried every diet going, have had succcess for a short while but find my body adapts and have never had similar losses trying the same diet again which makes me think that there's more at play than simply calories in/calories out.

My weight tracking app says my ideal weight is 8st 11 as am 5ft 3, that made a me laugh as haven't seen that kind of number since I was in my early 20s! Maybe 9.5-10st is more realistic. Am peri or possibly full on menopause and just started HRT so hoping with the combination of Ozempic will help reset some of my hormones.

Not told OH or anyone else I'm doing this. I decided to get a 1mg pen to save on cost as can get the first 8-9 doses out of it at £149.99 - still following the standard protocol of 0.25mg for 4 weeks, 0.5mg to 4 weeks then 1mg. Fingers crossed not too many side effects.

Sounds like a good plan!
I'm on HRT and it has helped with mood swings which helps with food choices too I think.
Good luck!

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 02/02/2023 06:03

I've been on Ozempic for 6weeks now.
I'm gone through Juniper and I think I'll stay with them as I like the assurance of availability.
I've noticed that the effects wear off after 6 days. Has any tried taking the meds every 6 days rather than weekly? Thanks

MaryPoppinjay · 02/02/2023 08:19

Moved up to 1 this morning. Felt the 0.5 had zero effect this week as had gnawing hunger especially towards the end of the 7 days. Managed to stay at around 1200-1300 calories however so hoping for some scale wins soon.
I had a very upsetting moment last night when being overweight made me feel deeply humiliated and really very sad so really want to see the scales moving down. I’ve lost about 2 lbs in 2 months so far which has been hard work and is painfully slow especially as I have 5 stone to lose but hoping the move up to the therapeutic dose will start moving the scales faster. I’d be happy enough with 1-2lbs a week - fingers crossed.

orangelous · 02/02/2023 08:25

i must say that i feel quite upset with juniper as they say that they have no record of my having given anyone the code despite a few of you having assured me that you gavevmy details when you made an order.
it's too late now to cancel the next delivery but i will change after this month.
looks like a lot of you are having success with other suppliers.
Good luck to all the new people!!

Aw, I’m very sorry to hear you had such a low moment last night@MaryPoppinjay
If you are sticking to that number of calories you will definitely see a difference on your scales soon. And you have been taking a low dose up until now so hopefully the higher dose will make it easier for you hunger wise. I’m crossing my fingers for you🤞

MaryPoppinjay · 02/02/2023 08:57

Thank you @Twiglets1 - appreciate it x

Peridot1 · 02/02/2023 09:12

@MaryPoppinjay - sorry you had a bad time last night. I think we have all been there. Today is a new day.

My loss has been quite slow but it’s eventually gotten me to a 3 stone loss in a year.

I’m not sure if I mentioned to you but some people have a better result on 0.5mg twice a week rather than 1mg once a week. No idea why but I definitely found that for me at one point.

I used someone’s code, but there wasn’t space to put their information just for the default code itself, so I have no idea how juniper could link the codes to who gave them out!

OneAndDon3 · 02/02/2023 10:03

Sorry to hear that @MaryPoppinjay I hope you're ok now.

Up to 0.5mg yesterday and the constipation is back with a vengeance. I'm feeling horribly bloated and uncomfortable. Lots of water today I guess and hope it eases.

CaledonianSleeper · 02/02/2023 10:11

Hi everyone, I'm finding this thread really helpful - I'm worried about side effects if I start taking Ozempic as I suffer from migraine and quite a few people have mentioned headaches. Does anyone who is currently taking Ozempic usually suffer from migraine? If so, has it made them worse or more frequent? Thanks!

Peridot1 · 02/02/2023 11:24

@OneAndDon3 - I get really constipated too. I don’t drink enough water which I know I should. I have found Fybogel helps. I’ve also started taking inulin which is a fibre. Some people have had success with Physillium husk added to foods.

@CaledonianSleeper - I haven’t read of anyone getting migraines on it. In some ways it could help as it may keep your blood sugars more steady which can trigger migraines in some people.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 02/02/2023 12:18

I sometimes get migraines and I haven’t had one for a while (touch wood). Taking Ozempic since August.

IndigoTinsel · 02/02/2023 13:16

@CaledonianSleeper I had two awful headaches this first week of taking ozempic and I've not had a migraine in about 10 years but this was quite reminiscent of that.. Hard to remember after so long! But unlike my migraines which I needed to take much stronger medicine for, these two were solved with paracetamol and lots of water and a little lie down whilst the paracetamol had time to work. I've lost nearly 2kg in 1 week so I'm really pleased about that despite the side affects.

Oigetoffmylawn · 02/02/2023 14:57

Week 4 (4th dose) and no side effects this week. mild appetite suppression.

Be aware anyone on Numan, they autorenew your prescription! So mine has arrived today, didn't even ask if I wanted it (was a shock to see the £156 on my card!).

I'm still finding it quietens the food noise and I'm not constantly thinking about food which is really nice. Looking forward to moving up to 0.5. Off on a weekend break this weekend so will weigh on Friday.

Kfjsjdbd · 02/02/2023 16:44

@Oigetoffmylawn thanks for the flag. I’m with Numan and was wondering that. Are they sending you the 0.5ml dose?

OzzyOzworn · 02/02/2023 17:30

I’m with numan and emailed them 10 days and and again 4 days ago and no response. Not impressed. I did assume they would take £200 out next week as it hits week 5 but then I think I will cancel the subscription as I’m not impressed with their complete lack of service. It’s medication afterall! I May try elsewhere after them. On a good note I’m amazed that only 3 weeks in on the 0.25mg dose (did 4th injection Tues eve, effortlessly I’ve lost 8lbs which is amazed at!!!! Honestly thrilled!!!

Katrinawaves · 02/02/2023 17:43

If you have the Numan app you can check when your next delivery is due and pause delivery for up to 12 months if you need to

CaledonianSleeper · 02/02/2023 18:22

@IndigoTinsel @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun @Peridot1 Thank you all for the information about headaches/migraine, very useful.

CaledonianSleeper · 02/02/2023 18:23

If anyone has a Juniper referral code they'd be willing to share I'd be grateful if you'd message me.

HolibobsinApril · 02/02/2023 23:07

I have just had my first dose. I managed to accidentally press the button so have lost some which is a shame.

I'm so so anxious that I'm going to be allergic to it and I'm gong to be really ill. Completely irrational as I've never been allergic to anything ever.

I hope I don't wake up dead tomorrow! 🤣

Karmakamelion · 02/02/2023 23:21

Holibobs I was also really worried but I didn't wake up dead but did have real disappointment that I didn't instantly loose my appetite! I've been on 0.25 for 3 weeks and can definitely feel the difference. And have lost nearly 3 kilos . Good luck
