Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

OP posts:

i am on week 3 but the liquid in the window of the pen doesn't look like its actually gone down. Does this sound right?

ive also noticed the pen contains 1.5mg and im on 0.25 weekly so i can get an extra 0.5 out of it? where could I get extra needles please.

im also thinking of changing companies for next pen to take advantage of offers. is it straight forward getting a higher dose- im with juniper and thinking of using quick meds.

HermioneKipper · 24/01/2023 21:26

Ive ordered via my juniper. Thanks so much for the code @polopolopolopoo

Thanks @HermioneWeasley!

I really want to do this. I’m hoping to do around 1000 cals per day - does that sound realistic?

Would anyone mind telling me what they eat everyday?

This is what I'd like to know! I'm still in my first week and appetite has come back big time sadly so I'm thinking a larger dose would suit me better

missfliss · 24/01/2023 21:29

I was rejected by Juniper - but have 3 pens (0.5) coming from UK Meds - at £129
each ( so less than Juniper). Aim is to work out the dose for 0.25 for first few weeks, then usual 0.5 for 4, then can double dose to make 1 and see how it goes.
I am overweight by a decent margin, just it quite enough apparently for Juniper.

missfliss · 24/01/2023 21:46

@MaireadMcSweeney can you advise which needles you bought please and from where? Thanks!

MiniCooperLover · 24/01/2023 21:48

I did mine earlier for the first time and don't think I did it fully correctly. I did all the needle stuff and got the dose right but missed out the bit that was for prep the dose? There was a tiny drop of liquid ready so I did it and the panicked and re read the instructions and realised I'd prob cocked it up 🙈 the needles are so like the ones I used for IVF i just did it automatically... hopefully I didn't waste a dose 🙈🙈

Peridot1 · 24/01/2023 21:50

For anyone looking to buy needles I bought these and they work perfectly

Peridot1 · 24/01/2023 21:51

Might help if I put the link! Grin

these

polopolopolopoo · 24/01/2023 22:10

@Peridot1 thanks for this 👍

missfliss · 24/01/2023 22:34

Thanks too @Peridot1

MaireadMcSweeney · 24/01/2023 22:43

I bought them from eBay, searched the same size and gauge as the ones in my pack and they also work perfectly

MaireadMcSweeney · 25/01/2023 03:55

Oh Jesus the burps! I've just woken up me and DP with an incredible burp from the depths of my soul. Never woken myself up with a burp before.

MiniCooperLover · 25/01/2023 07:04

Apologies for being dim here, why are people buying other needles? Do they not come with the medication? Thanks

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 25/01/2023 07:22

Each pen comes with four needles which is officially what you need but if you want to use all the medication in the 0.25 mg pen or you want to count clicks and use less per dose with the 1 mg pen then you need extra needles as you will get more than four doses.

The 0.25 pen has 2 extra doses/ one extra 0.5mg dose so it would be silly not to use it at £30+ per dose! Also if you find that 0.5mg works for you and don't want to go up to 1mg immediately you can make a pen last 8 doses instead of 4.

MaryPoppinjay · 25/01/2023 08:12

Just FYI most pharmacies will sell needles for diabetic pens (which is essentially what these are). From memory about 100 needles are £5-7. I’ve never been asked for a prescription.
Also, did a daily weigh this morning and seemed to have ‘put on’ 4 lbs overnight. Now, I know this isn’t possible to have added 4lbs of fat but it is very frustrating and is one of the reasons I have started daily weighing as I would be so disheartened if that was the result after a week dieting.
I ate around 1200 calories yesterday (overnight oats for lunch, v small portion salmon teriyaki, greens and boiled rice for dinner with a couple of gf oat biscuits with tea). It’s probably caused by a carb heavy day for me so need to try limiting carb again but find it so tough especially when it’s so cold bbrrrr.

I think you will be fine @MiniCooperLover. If there was a drop on the end of needle it sounds like it was prepped ok.

Twwodoorsaway · 25/01/2023 08:41

Well I’ve had a weigh in today (3rd injection of 0.25mg this morning) and I’ve lost a huge… 100g. Rather disappointed (I did lose 2kg last week which was great). I’m always a really slow weight loser, unlike DH who has lost 3kg without being on Ozempic and is eating more than me, and has less weight to lose. But it is ever thus. So annoying.

But I’m not going to let it dispirit me and plough on. I think I need to reduce the weekend white wine tbh, I’m not having as much as before but still some.

I lost nothing in week 3 either. Don't despair, 0.25 is a low dose and isn't the dose that will bring real results. My DP lost half a stone since new year without really trying too and I actually told him to fuck off yesterday when he told me 😆

OzzyOzworn · 25/01/2023 09:34

I’m not expecting to lose anything this week (week 3) as I lost 5lbs in first 2 wks which is unheard of for me. Also I’ve heard many people don’t lose in weeks 3&4 then lose again week 5 onwards. Trust the process I guess. The alternative is not doing it and then we definitely won’t lose:) x

OneAndDon3 · 25/01/2023 09:50

Still haven't weighed myself, but my bra went in another row of hooks this morning.

I'm very cold generally at the moment. Not sure how much is meds/lower calories and how much is just the miserable weather.

IndigoTinsel · 25/01/2023 10:24

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of doing this after reading all of the first thread and this one and a lot of other medical links! The only thing I am not sure about is where to get it from. I can see a lot of you use My Juniper and Numan but equally there seems to be the option to do it yourself which seems slightly cheaper? Any particular recommendations?

I feel nervous but desperate to do something about my ever increasing weight despite my complete lack of willpower. When I read people saying it turned off the voice in their head that is always thinking about food, I thought well that is me! I so hope this works!

HeyMicky · 25/01/2023 10:50

Week 3 for me and I've taken .3.75 again. I've tried the thigh this time so fingers crossed for fewer tummy issues! I'm not weighing but I definitely look smaller, especially around the stomach.

@HermioneKipper I'm eating about 1200 a day. Today looks like:

  • boiled egg and espresso before the gym
  • protein shake and coffee with almond milk for breakfast after
  • tuna salad (3 kinds of leaves, celery, cucumber, peppers, red onion) with lemon juice and light mayo for lunch
  • poached chicken, mushrooms, pak choi and tenderstem broccoli with soy and ginger, plus zero noodles for supper
  • snacks of low fat cottage cheese, raspberries and blueberries, and a low cal jelly pot.
IAmBreathingIn · 25/01/2023 11:18

I buy directly through a pharmacy. Does anyone have any advice on who is cheapest atm? (I always check an online pharmacy is registered before I order).

I was too slow placing my order with UK Meds and they're out of stock again already! 😭

missfliss · 25/01/2023 11:19

@HeyMicky your way of eating sounds similar to mine (well my target way of eating) - i also use protein powder, almond milk a lot and boiled eggs for snacks too - the zero noodkes you mention, are they konjac? any good?
