“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD TWO

Here’s a shiny new thread for everyone who’s been sharing their experiences on the original, and of course all new starters are welcome too!

OP posts:
Mollybeth · 24/01/2023 09:14

Hi all,

im down 2 pound this week but it has been the week from hell if I’m honest. Really praying that these side effects start to go soon before I inject again!

Currently weighing in at 12:13, 5ft4

MiniCooperLover · 24/01/2023 09:48

Sorry to hear that Mollybeth, hope you feel better soon.

Do people inject in the morning or at night before bed? My pack should arrive today, I'm excited to read it all as the house is quiet for once so good timing.

OneAndDon3 · 24/01/2023 10:04

I do mine in the morning. I'm not sure that it really makes much difference TBH.

That's my fourth injection down and my new pen is arriving today. It feels like a magic switch has been flicked in my head. It's so nice not to be thinking about snacking all the time and stopping eating when I'm full.

MaryPoppinjay · 24/01/2023 10:10

It may not be relevant but to those talking about nausea side effects - when I was talking Saxenda (now on Ozempic) I found that injections in the thighs had fewer or less severe side effects than when I injected into my tummy. Maybe if the side effects are awful for you try injecting in a different area to see if that helps.
I haven’t had any side effects from Ozempic yet (bar very mild indigestion) but moving to 1mg next week as so far the lower doses have done almost nothing for me after being full dose Saxenda.

mathis2006 · 24/01/2023 10:19

I am getting mine today also after using Saxenda. Will start on 0.5mg and hopefully it will be enough. I did order a 1mg pen so I will increase if feel it doesn't work.

Peridot1 · 24/01/2023 10:48

@mathis2006 - it takes time to build up in your system so I wouldn’t increase from 0.5 to 1 too quickly. I’d give it four weeks to be honest. When it’s prescribed by medical professionals they usually start people on 0.25 for four weeks and then 0.5 for four weeks before going up. I had two weeks off over Christmas having been on 1mg already and it’s taking time to build up again.

MaryPoppinjay · 24/01/2023 11:12

@Peridot1 remind me, did you find moving up to 1mg had more impact on appetite etc? I know 1mg plus is a therapeutic dose but lower doses have worked on lots of people. I’m really hoping the higher dose has more effect on me but wondered how long to give it a chance for (now into week 8 on 0.5 and it’s had little discernible effect so far)? TIA

Peridot1 · 24/01/2023 11:31

@MaryPoppinjay - for a while I did 0.5 twice a week and I think I found that better to be honest. Quite a few people in a FB group I am in did it that way and it seemed to work well. I am not quite sure why that worked better and I’d forgotten that I found it better until just now. I switched to 1mg and it’s working but not quite as much. 8 weeks on 0.5 should have made a difference I would have thought. It definitely did for me.

When I initially started I was started on 0.5 as that was best for weight loss. And it did make a difference. 1mg hasn’t had as dramatic an effect. Wegovy (which isn’t available here yet) is Ozempic at higher doses and goes up to 2.4mg I think and is routinely prescribed in the US so obviously some people need the higher doses.

Happierwithouthim · 24/01/2023 11:46

I took 0.5mg last night, second dose of my second pen of 0.5mg as I found I was very nauseous on the day after taking it up to now so didn't move up, ironically I feel fine today Smile

I felt very bunged up this morning so didn't weigh.

MaireadMcSweeney · 24/01/2023 13:44

First full day after taking 0.5. Not hungry at all between breakfast and lunch, eating now but I don't want to finish it and nasty burps!! Yuk

Twwodoorsaway · 24/01/2023 14:37

My next 0.25mg jab (and weigh in) is tomorrow. I was really hungry last Tuesday but ok today thankfully. I’m still aiming for 16:8 fasting, and doing that probably 6 days a week. And have reduced portion sizes and try to keep carbs low as I know that works for me. I’m definitely a lot less likely to snack, there have been a few instances but a lot fewer. And like others I don’t find myself constantly thinking about food. Fingers crossed for a loss tomorrow.

@FatandNearlyFifty I think it was you saying you had loads to lose, well me too. I’ve got a whole small person to rid myself of. It is quite refreshing to say that (albeit embarrassing) as I wouldn’t admit it in real life. Although I guess it’s pretty obvious when you look at me.

Mumonamission123 · 24/01/2023 14:44

I inject in my thigh having read lots of people saying it's easier to handle the side effects than when injected in the stomach. My side effects are quite minimum slight nausea but nothing too serious

OzzyOzworn · 24/01/2023 15:40

3rd injection of 0.25mg this eve. 5lbs down (3 last week and 2 this week) It Definitely wears off over the days as day 6 I’m much hungrier so I’m sticking to healthy low cal but it significantly harder and frankly I’m hungry but tough:/ I inject in thigh and minimal side effects past 2 weeks if that helps anyone. X

Kfjsjdbd · 24/01/2023 15:51

Agreeing that the thigh definitely feels like it has fewer side effects than in the stomach. I did the thigh the first week, and my stomach the second week, and I definitely feel more sick this week.

Katrinawaves · 24/01/2023 15:56

Do people pinch a roll of fat and inject into that? I’ve just been jabbing the needle straight into my thigh or belly without doing this but I saw a picture of someone on an ozempic site yesterday and wonder if I’ve been injecting it incorrectly!

Kfjsjdbd · 24/01/2023 16:00

Pinching the fat means it doesn’t sting for me

MaryPoppinjay · 24/01/2023 17:20

Yeah @Peridot1 I do think my tolerance must be higher due to the Saxenda. I feel like I’m eating a little less finally and MFP def tracking fewer cals this week although that could be due to being so cold I’m off to bed much earlier than usual 😂. No significant move on the scales yet but I’ve always been a painfully slow loser.
One thing I did do yesterday was make lots of batches of soup as they are really low calorie, nutrient dense and filling. Two small bowls of broccoli & cauliflower soup and I was stuffed. Must make more effort to drink more water though.

Happierwithouthim · 24/01/2023 17:21

I didn't pinch one week and had a tiny bruise, I haven't bruised when I've pinched

HermioneKipper · 24/01/2023 18:30

Could someone send me a referral code?

OzzyOzworn · 24/01/2023 18:35

Sorry numan don’t give codes:/

polopolopolopoo · 24/01/2023 18:36

@MaryPoppinjay great tip re soup, am going to make a big batch tomorrow 👍

@HermioneKipper sent you a code 😀

mathis2006 · 24/01/2023 19:49

Came off saxenda on Sunday, and today was the first day I felt hunger and belly rumbling for months. I was famished. I can see how easy it is to put it all back on. Hopefully ozempic works, and I can maintain in the long term.

HermioneWeasley · 24/01/2023 19:59

Excited to see another Hermione on here! Welcome @HermioneKipper !

Honeyyyy · 24/01/2023 20:11

Received my Juniper box today.
A little nervous about it and think will wait for the weekend to start.

Hope it will help 🤞

Oigetoffmylawn · 24/01/2023 20:41

So my symptoms by week;

Dose 1 - very mild nausea on day 2. Great appetite supression.
Dose 2 - horrific indigestion and mild constipation on days 3-5. Good appetite supression (also flu like symptoms but possibly unrelated)
Dose 3 - currently on day 2 and just got the sulphur burps! Wow, haven't been missing out without those! Also tmi but just had a giant deluge in the loo.

Have lost 5.5lbs to date (16 days).

On .25 dose from numan, injected in to stomach. Small bruise each time.
