Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - In the coming days I’ll post some links which some members might find useful. Feel free to share your own links, recipes and photos too 😊

Good morning everyone!

sw 15st 4lb
cw 15st 1lb

i did weigh slightly later in the day after water and tea for my starting weight so I know it’s not truly 3lb in 5 days but it’s nice to see it shifting in the right way.

day 5 of my yoga challenge and I’m sore but enjoying it!

b kefir and banana

think lunch will be soup from the freezer. I WFH and it’s set to be a crazy day.
dinner will be Spanish style meatball and rice dish thingy.

today’s intention is to get more fruit and veg and drink more water. I also want to cut out the mindless snacking.

Hope you all have a good day.

SunshineBoy · 05/01/2023 07:21

Also thinking of you @TheRealHousewife. Be gentle with yourself and just let yourself feel what you feel without forcing anything.

ImALittlePea · 05/01/2023 07:26

I hope today goes well @TheRealHousewife sending love and strength (and sleep) your way 💐

Well done to everyone who WOWed yesterday! An inspiring start to the year. I don't weigh until Fridays so no progress update from me.

Yesterday I miraculously stayed on plan. Miraculous because DS was off school again, and ended up being admitted to our local hospital in the early evening. He is actually very well in himself, but has a medical background that means he has a lower threshold than most to be checked over, so IV antibiotics it is for now.

Anyway, as I anticipated he might be admitted I scrambled a quick freezer dinner together before we came over, otherwise it would have had to be a delivery dinner. So I had:

Lunch - cup-a-soup, veggies, dairylea triangle and four crackers
Snack - few handfuls of popcorn with DS while he watched a film
Dinner - southern fried chicken steak, hash browns and beans

Lots of tea and water. Came in under calories.

But absolutely no idea what today will look like as I don't know whether we'll get home or whether it'll be hospital canteen food for me. And whether I actually get to step on the scales tomorrow morning is anyone's guess 🤷‍♀️

Wishing everyone a smooth and mindful Thursday.

emptythelitterbox · 05/01/2023 08:00

@TheRealHousewife I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing your mum is a difficult and painful experience and we're here for you. Please take care of yourself and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Flowers

SingaporeSlinky · 05/01/2023 08:52

Forgot to weigh in yesterday, so did it this morning

SW 9st 12
TW 9st 2

Goal for today is to not let being a bit under the weather be an excuse to sit and eat chocolates and sugary coffees all day. Going to try and have more green teas and more water instead.

Patchworksack · 05/01/2023 12:13

I’m sorry @TheRealHousewife I also missed the post about losing your mum. Time to be kind to yourself, not concerned about others. I hope the meeting today goes smoothly.

Passpass · 05/01/2023 12:54

limerentidiot · 04/01/2023 03:18

I would like to join please. Approx 3 stone to lose, don’t know my exact sw as I am waiting for batteries to arrive.

I’ve realised that one of my biggest hurdles is a very irregular schedule. I’ve seen a couple of pp refer to books about systems rather than goals, which seems like something I need. Any specific titles people would recommend?

I think that might have been my post!

limerentidiot · 05/01/2023 13:41

Thank you @Passpass

I’m so sorry for your loss, @TheRealHousewife

yesterday:

breakfast: two boiled eggs
lunch: Cheese and Apple toastie
dinner: spinach, chickpea and potato curry with rice
snacks: 220cal of nasty chocolate

Had to order scales battery online so it won’t be here for a few more days.

Cloudberries123 · 05/01/2023 15:17

Ooh limerentidiot cheese and apple toastie sounds fab!

LittlePea hope your son is OK and it's nothing too serious! Well done on staying on track despite the change to routine.

For me, another somewhat upside down day, not eaten much and not super nutritious (yet) :

Breakfast - 2 slices rye toast, cheese, cucumber, jam (not all together!) Coffee

Work snacks - 2 apples, water

Lunch - tuna sandwich, half a slice of cake, decaf coffee

Dinner - absolutely ravenous so will be having some snacks with high protein and fat. Dinner tbc

Nearly the weekend!

ImALittlePea · 05/01/2023 16:38

Thanks @Cloudberries123 thankfully we're going home shortly. Today has been awful diet wise:

Breakfast 😱 - 2 x toast, butter and marmite (I don't ever eat breakfast, but the offered and I was so sleep deprived/unsure of what the day ahead was going to bring, I just had some), tea
Lunch - cheese sandwich, tea
Snacks - more tea (see: sleep deprived 😂), DS's leftover nuggets, chips and beans, a packet of crisps, half a wispa, a choc chip cake bar, probably something else too 😂
Dinner - just going to bung a pizza in the oven when we get home

I feel like today will have derailed the efforts made so far this week, but I know that it was unavoidable (ok, maybe some of the snacks were avoidable...) and if it has, then so be it - next week will be MINE, so I'm still going to weigh and report back.

I hope today went as well as possible, @TheRealHousewife

CumbrianExile · 05/01/2023 18:22

My replacement Fitbit arrived today, so hopefully that will encourage me to do more steps! Had a bit of a lazy day exercise wise today, but meals have been ok. And no snacking. Weigh in tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about your mum @therealhousewife. As others have said, concentrate on yourself for as long as you need Flowers

@ImALittlePea I think given the circumstances an off day is allowed. Hope DS is ok.

lipstickwoman · 05/01/2023 19:48

Just blown it with more biscuits from a Christmas assortment box than I'd be willing to admit to.

Bugger.

LollipopViolet · 05/01/2023 20:06

Well I didn't give into temptation at work - we have a local business who operate a sandwich van and they come every day at about 10am. As well as sandwiches and cold drinks, they do hot breakfast sandwiches which are very tasty. I didn't go today, I had a stash of healthy snacks so although I've snacked, it's been high protein stuff.

I'm eating a lot more veggie meals at work - just trying to be good where I can as I've got quite a few nights away this month, where it'll be harder to resist the lure of lovely restaurant dishes (and wine).

SanFranBear · 05/01/2023 20:49

Evening... just a quick drop in to send my love to you, RealHousewife and hope you're able to catch some zzzz's soon - lack of sleep makes everything seem insurmountable Flowers

Had a pretty healthy day as been in and out the house all day so no time for food. My littlest kitten (well, technically a cat as she's 18 months now!) had a seizure about a month ago and another a few days back.. she had some bloods originally which didn't show anything but they took some more today after the latest episode.. problem is, she is small but Oh So Fierce so despite sedation at home before the appointment, they had to give her two more lots at the vets before she actually calmed enough for them to take it. I love her so much!!

So, pretty light day - 2 x soft boiled eggs and soldiers for lunch (lots of eggs to eat but I also have them a lot anyway!) and then wholewheat spaghetti with meatballs and salad for tea. I did have a decent handful of Pringles mid afternoon but we'll forget about those!

Roll on my Weigh Day in the morning - feel like I need to know where I stand now 😣

123ROLO · 05/01/2023 21:50

Today has been pretty good. Not very healthy but within calorie limits.

I need to try harder to incorporate more fruit and veg into my diet.

limerentidiot · 05/01/2023 22:15

Today has been hard. Absolutely shattered + wfh = desire to eat everything in the house

greenspaces4peace · 05/01/2023 23:35

@limerentidiot some days are harder. i'm sure we all understand.
do you have a plan to help tomorrow?
anything to help you sleep better? any low low cal nibblies you have have around?
are you eating enough or high enough protein with breakfast so your not starving? fluids? have you got your big water bottle nearby?
i'm in canada but use one of these

greenspaces4peace · 05/01/2023 23:47

some good stuff today but like everyone some challenges.
B: egg, potato pan fries, 1/2 banana 268 cal
L: plain greek yogurt with my currant fruit compote (blueberry/plum/rhubarb/apple) 174 cal
S: pizza; homemade by dh. very little will power on this one,
water, exercise, suplements ✅

SparkleBubble · 05/01/2023 23:50

Hi, I'm new here and would love to join in! A bit late to the party, I know.

I lost 18kg in 2021, but put a little bit back on in 2022 so wanting to shift it now before it gets out of hand. So aiming for about 6-7kg loss. I really want to start addressing some of my unhealthy behaviours around food so I'm loosely counting calories but really trying to address the underlying issues.

I also really need new food ideas as I'm in a bit of a rut - I HATE cooking and the easy options aren't always the healthiest!

Oh and I track my weight in kgs, just to be difficult! 😃

limerentidiot · 06/01/2023 00:23

Aw, thank you @greenspaces4peace ! I will pm you, hope you don’t mind!

welcome @SparkleBubble

greenspaces4peace · 06/01/2023 00:30

no problem @limerentidiot
welcome @SparkleBubble, cooking is my hobby...kind off. Real Housewife (I won't link her right now) is also pretty amazing at calorie conscious meal planning and i'm sure there are lots of others who might be also.

SanFranBear · 06/01/2023 07:36

Morning and a relatively happy weigh day for me (I'm a 'kg' kind of woman, too, Sparkles!)

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 68.2kg
January GW: 66kg

So pretty happy as am about the same as I was start of December which, given the excesses of the month, is amazing really. Stretch target for this month though as I need to kick-start my motivation again so let's see how we go.

Today won't help massively as although decent meals to start (and am in the office today, limerantidiot, so dodging the WFH trap), I am out later for dinner and what will likely be a slightly boozy evening with a dear friend I don't see enough! Ah well, got to be some benefit for weighing on a Friday!

Have a great day, everyone!

Wafflefudge · 06/01/2023 08:11

Weds had smoothie, apple, pitta with boiled egg, slice chicken, veg curry with some baguette.

Yesterday was smoothie, apple, pitta with veg curry, venison chilli with butternut squash and salad, 4 small chocolates from a Xmas present I didn't get round to delivering.

So still going OK. Not done any exercise since Tuesday. Really busy for next 4 or 5 weeks but then hopefully can get back to exercising which makes a big difference.

Ninjachicken · 06/01/2023 08:33

Morning,
so sorry @TheRealHousewife . Please take care of yourself.
i will weigh in on Wednesday after (hopefully)a good week !
L: veggie shepherds pie
D: Mexican chicken
snacks: tbc!!!!

i would love opinions about the best calorie tracking app and workouts. looking for strength and stretching type things.
ideally free ones as trying to cut back on spending!
thanks everyone, good luck and have a good day !!! 😁

ImALittlePea · 06/01/2023 09:01

Morning all

Unexpectedly happy weigh in today - 1.5lb off 🥳

Renewed faith in my plan and an uptick in determination off the back of that nice results despite this week's curve ball!
