Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - In the coming days I’ll post some links which some members might find useful. Feel free to share your own links, recipes and photos too 😊

Morning, time to declare the big numbers as have a long way to go!

SW (Oct 22) 256lbs
CW (and SW for the year) 225lbs
GW1 196lbs

Although I didn’t weigh between Christmas I lost 2lbs since 23rd December, so just goes to show I can manage Christmas like a normal person - we only bought one box of Celebrations this year, in our house that’s a miracle!

Hoping to reach Goal Weight 1 by Easter which means a solid 2-3lbs each week. I have a few mini-goals along the way to keep me going.

Food for the day:
Meal 1 Beans on toast
Protein snack/drink
Meal 2 Low cal ready meal with broccoli, berries and yogurt

Thank you for the company on this journey.

MilesFlora · 04/01/2023 12:10

Morning all and my first weigh in!

SW - 9st 5
January GW - 9st 2
Overall GW - 8st 10

I was actually 9st 4 the other morning and have been eating reasonably well so bit miffed up a lb but them’s the breaks.

Must focus on the no extra snacking and will continue to log food carefully and just get on with it!

Plantmoretrees86 · 04/01/2023 12:15

Morning all, not got much time to post here but reading posts when I can for inspiration. Weighed on Monday so will wait until next Wednesday to weigh in again.

SW/CW 10st1
GW 9st by the summer

Aiming for slow and steady weightloss so no particular goal per week... Entered 1/2 a pound per week on nutracheck but I'll see how I go. I know I need to do it gradually to make it stick!

buzzofthebumblebee · 04/01/2023 12:33

Congrats on your loss already @Bumblebeehum - amazing!

Ethiopianflower · 04/01/2023 13:32

SW 11.7 stone
CW 11.5
GW 10.8
Good luck 🍀 to everyone. We have this. Baby steps and we will get there

Cloudberries123 · 04/01/2023 14:04

Right you are all just going to have to forgive me for not tagging and being as individually supportive this week as it has been an absolute humdinger of a day - don't want to go into it!

Will try to reply to more people soon, as I find that being replied to and having little conversations is one of the most motivating parts of this thread!

Ok today:

Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs, 1 toast, coffee

Work snacks - apple, 2 bananas

Lunch - 1 takeaway mocha 😵 don't ask!

Dinner - chicken and veg pasta, one of my simple daily favourites

Over halfway through the first week of Jan!

ndo4000 · 04/01/2023 16:22

Am I the only one who gets more thirsty, the more water I drink?

buzzofthebumblebee · 04/01/2023 17:48

Constant thirst here @ndo4000 so no, not just you. Loo trips all help up daily step count.

However drinking more could be boredom or compensating for no snacks.

I'm doing Dry January as well as dieting, which saves quite a few calories a day. Weight should be dropping off !!!

ndo4000 · 04/01/2023 18:01

@buzzofthebumblebee glad it's not just me then! I'm doing (sort of) dry January too. Weight should be dropping off......soon....

greenspaces4peace · 04/01/2023 18:28

wt up 151.5 (up .7) however body fat decreasing and muscle mass increasing as well as hydration
b: 240 cal standard oatmeal/fruit/honey

no lunch plan yet but i have plenty of healthy options. what i need to do is NOT snack on NUTS!!

Hello Everyone

Only a quick visit as I’m not faring well at the moment due to mums passing. I’m going to see the funeral director tomorrow to arrange the funeral.

I’d like to say a warm welcome to all newcomers! Well done to everyone who WOWED and have lost already this month👏👏👏Heads a shed at the moment and I’m not able to read & respond in an orderly way so will pause for a couple of days. I’m not sleeping well either atm so that’s having a negative impact.

❤️

I know I'm new here but thank you so much for starting this thread and look after yourself. It must be a really difficult time. ❤️

lipstickwoman · 04/01/2023 19:44

@TheRealHousewife I must have missed your post about your mum. I'm so sorry for your loss.

LollipopViolet · 04/01/2023 19:46

Thank you for starting this thread @TheRealHousewife. I'm sorry to hear about your mum, and hope tomorrow goes as well as it can. Take care of yourself and come back to us when you feel ready.

I've had a decent couple of days, will leave it until next week to weigh in as I only started on Monday. I'm in the office the next 2 days so will have to work hard to avoid the temptation of treats. I've had it confirmed that I've got the time off to compete in April so need to be good, have to rock an 80's themed costume Grin

Weatherwax13 · 04/01/2023 19:46

@TheRealHousewife very sorry for your lossFlowers

takingcareofme2023 · 04/01/2023 20:15

Take care @TheRealHousewife xx

Still lurking...in bed poorly at mo. Frustrated as can't exercise and know how much that helps me mentally. Also signed up to Joe Wicks but can't do workouts.

Diet/menu...crap/nibbles etc
Starting weight 14st.
As per username, I am resting up and not forcing self into work or feeling (too) guilty about it.

RadFad · 04/01/2023 20:58

@TheRealHousewife sorry to hear of your loss. Sending lots of love and strength to you.

So I got up at 5.30 (after DD2 woke at 4 for an hour) and did my 30 minute exercise. Feeling proud of myself for getting it done and relieved when I got in from work that I didn’t have to think about it.

I had a referral from my GP to Oviva weight management program who made initial contact today. Hoping that will help me stay motivated. I’ve been reading their app and made some small goals.

Food today:
B - Weetabix
L - Hummus, pitta and veggie sticks
D - Spaghetti Bolognese
Snacks - Ritz crackers, hot cross bun, babybel and clementines
Finishing on 1650cals

AutisticLegoLover · 04/01/2023 21:26

Take care of yourself @TheRealHousewife Flowers

Toasted muffin and tea for breakfast
Kitkat
Cherry yogurt and muesli
4 crisps stolen from ds's plate
Homemade Mushroom soup and baguette
Ice cream
Tangerine

I've walked 5.6 miles today and will walk a few miles tomorrow too and it's good to be back in the swing of things there. I hate it when I can't get out and walk.

I'm leaving off weighing until I'm back to normal routine.

Candy500 · 04/01/2023 21:36

Its difficult to be disciplined in the evenings. I eat really well all day and even made blackbean chilli for dinner but then could not resist fruitcake and milk and banana an hour ago. 30 minute walk- rest of time sitting down all day. Sit down office based work makes me eat more as I actually hate the lifestyle. If you are busy and doing something you like eating less is easier.

Candy500 · 04/01/2023 21:39

I have not figured out how to reply to a specific post but just to say so sorry for your loss to Real Housewife.

sooomuchdebt · 04/01/2023 21:49

So sorry for your loss @TheRealHousewife take care.

I'm joining a bit late.

Did a 1 Jan weigh-in: 11st 10lbs.
Goal weight for a summer wedding is 11st.

Being ill all last month inadvertently gave me a "Dry December" - going to try cut down on the wine in Dry(ish) Jan as well and see how I go! 😅I put on a bit of weight last year after splitting from my ex but I'm sick of wallowing - time to get up and out again!

ginsparkles · 04/01/2023 21:49

Sending love @TheRealHousewife

First day back was a bust. Since I was last regularly here DD has been diagnosed with gluten and lactose intolerance and DH is under investigation for celiac disease so food has been tricky. Yesterday was the fish and chip shops gluten free day so we had fish and chips, a last treat at the end of the hols!

Today went better, salad for lunch and soup for tea so came in under calories.

Tomorrow am off work but super busy so that should help to keep the snacking at bay!

greenspaces4peace · 04/01/2023 22:23

you're in my thoughts and prayers @TheRealHousewife , be good to yourself

123ROLO · 04/01/2023 22:24

Sorry for your loss @TheRealHousewife x

Breakfast - Grapefruit
Coffee

Lunch - beans on toast

Tea - chicken, greens, sweet potato

Finishing at about 1400 cals today

buzzofthebumblebee · 04/01/2023 22:46

Indeed, thoughts with you @TheRealHousewife . Very emotional time. Ride the waves, they will ebb and flow, be calm and rough. Save your energies for yourself.
