Hello & Welcome

Carrying on from LOSE IT! November 2022 this is where people who wish to lose or maintain with accountability check in daily. People can access support and general advice around a healthy lifestyle (food/health/wellbeing) We generally have WOW - Weigh on Wednesday to track progress.

December is a tough month to navigate food wise especially if you’re wanting to lose. By making sensible choices without total deprivation you can hopefully mitigate any Christmas excess.

We all deserve to feel the best we can, be the best we can and strive to be as fit and healthy as possible. Not only will you look great in your finery, you’ll be strengthening your immune system and maintain a sense of well-being. In addition, if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

You just need to find what works for you! Me personally? I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

Are you in? What’s your plan? Whatever you do, Good Luck!

Hi, I’ve never joined this thread before, can I please join now?

I’ve lost 2st and need to lose another 1st.
But that last stone of proving more difficult to lose than the first 2.

I’m planning to up my cardio and reduce my sugar intake a little more to reach my goal.

AutisticLegoLover · 28/11/2022 16:08

Please can I join too? I've weighed myself today and am no longer in the overweight category but ideally want to lose another 10lb. BMI is now 24.6. I'd settle for 5-7lbs though by Christmas.

fallfallfall · 28/11/2022 16:56

Place marking for December!!
i’ll finish up on the November one though.
thank you @TheRealHousewife 🐝

ImALittlePea · 28/11/2022 18:18

Checking in for December. Thanks as ever @TheRealHousewife 😊

Here's to continued resolve up to Christmas so we don't reverse all of 2022's hard work!

TheRealHousewife · 28/11/2022 18:39

Welcome to the thread @AutisticLegoLover @Bookaholic73 . I also found the first 2.5 stones came off relatively steadily; then I plateaued for around a year. So much so I thought I’d reached my set point. Then I’m pleased to say I started losing again. It really is about a change in lifestyle and eating habits. Tweaks here and there all add up. No point in just cutting back whilst intending to return to previous eating habits once at goal. You wouldn’t be at goal long 😬 @AutisticLegoLover great to read you’ve achieved a healthy bmi! No easy feat. Good luck with seeing the rest off 👍

@fallfallfall @ImALittlePea You are both very welcome! Pleased to see you are both joining in again! Yes I’ll certainly be finishing my November endeavours in the November thread but like to get the next one up and running.

Thanks for new thread @TheRealHousewife
Checking in and thinking positive thoughts for the festive session. Moderation and enjoyment will abound
Presumably the anxiety that I have yet finished the Xmas shopping will melt away at least 5lb 😂

Cloudberries123 · 28/11/2022 20:52

Placemarking! 💕

TheRealHousewife · 28/11/2022 21:20

63.55kg today for my first WOW. My period is due so I'm not expecting any losses in the next 10 days really.

TheRealHousewife · 30/11/2022 10:14

Hi @AutisticLegoLover Great that you’ve logged in! You never know, with tweaks here and there you could well see a loss after 10 days🤞 Have you decided what you are going to change in order to meet your goals?

Hardly setting the world alight but....
9.2lbs down, 8lbs to go.

@Bookaholic73 that last bit is always the toughest but worth it.

MirandaWest · 30/11/2022 11:31

Hello - I fell off the November thread - not sure why/how but will try and post more in the December one. Weight loss is just about plodding along but running has been continuing to improve with a good 10k a couple of weeks ago and three sub 30 min 5ks at parkrun (course is a bit long so only one was a sub 30 min parkrun but that was just over 29 min and my best parkrun in nearly 10 years so am happy with that!)

Emotional eating is definitely an issue for me but trying to keep it at bay.

Rshard · 30/11/2022 11:37

Hi

I’d love to join this please.
I low carb and have joined the boot camps over the years but apart from the first couple never seem to stay the distance. A general accountability and support thread would really help I think. It will be interesting to learn more about what others do.
I haven’t weighed this morning but will tomorrow and I actually go on holiday on 17 December but anything I lose between now and then will be a bonus and hopefully stop me going to far off plan while I’m there.

Thanks for organising @TheRealHousewife

TheRealHousewife · 30/11/2022 12:16

Hi @Was126orbustandmaybebust & welcome; not far to go!

Wow 😮 @MirandaWest you athlete you! 10k is very impressive 🏃‍♀️ 👏👏👏

Hi @rshard Lovely to have you join us. For me it’s all about healthy, sustainable and enjoyable ways of eating as deprivation leads ultimately to failure. Slow and steady. Are you away over Christmas? Years ago when myself and OH were self employed we ‘saved’ up annual leave (not paid) and went away for 3 weeks or so over the festive period which was both our quiet time. We loved it!

Hi @wannadisc0 , I think most are trying to finish off the November thread.
We’ll be joining you in full force very soon!!

Smugsmaug · 30/11/2022 20:09

Joining too! 🤩
Feels so good to start December with a health focus, instead of starting the new year with a sense of guilt and an extra few pounds!
Tomorrow aiming to up my protein and veg intake, and may try making a garlic soup to boost up my immune system too 👍🏼

Lizsmum · 30/11/2022 20:36

I wanted to say in my first post on the December thread just how much I appreciate you @TheRealHousewife. You are so positive and motivating.
Please could you come to live in my house?

Rshard · 30/11/2022 20:46

Thanks for the lovely welcome @TheRealHousewife . We’re back on Christmas Eve, your festive holiday sounds lovely.

I wanted to say in my first post on the December thread just how much I appreciate you @TheRealHousewife. You are so positive and motivating.
Please could you come to live in my house?

Can we share her please? ♥️

AutisticLegoLover · 30/11/2022 22:55

I realised I haven't done the current, starting and goal weights thing. I mix units around in my head so I weigh in kilos but my goal is in pounds so I'll have to work it out.

Nishky32 · 01/12/2022 06:25

Thank you for the new thread 💕
my stats:
starting: 14 11
current: 14 2.5

goal: 11 12

started slimming world on 27.10.22 so cautiously please with progress so far- think may have a gain tonight- not been my most organised week, but as I said in last thread I fastened a pair of size 14 jeans which has not happened for a good few years

I think it’s important to use non-scale measures as well, whether that is actual tape measure or using clothes to see how far you have come

probably would not be very comfortable all day in the size 14’s so will stick to the too large 16’s for now. Would be nice to start 2023 in the14’s though!

TheRealHousewife · 01/12/2022 07:34

Good Morning & Happy December 🎄🎄🎄

Even for those that aren’t trying to actively lose during the festive period; being moderate with treats whilst getting the protein, fibre and healthy fats in with still reap rewards. Namely not/minimising any potential gain. Let’s be honest, it’s good to let our hair down occasionally as life is for living after all ❤️

Welcome to the new thread @wannadisc0 @Smugsmaug @Nishky32 @Rshard 👍

@Nishky32 Is good to have a goal on sight, it helps with motivation!

@Rshard Will you have stuff in from before Christmas or is it a case of shopping enroute to back home?

@AutisticLegoLover Dont worry about the weighing in. You’ll soon find your rhythm.

@Lizsmum Thats kind of you to say, thank you 🙏

Ive shared Decembers Action for Kindness calendar too. I know some of you enjoy them.

Menu
Meal 1 - Scrambled egg with cheese 😋 GF toast.
Meal 2 - Liver and onions, carrots, cabbage.
Tea, black coffee & water.
